Ross Stillson

Mr. Ross Stillson, 91 of Poolesville, MD, formerly of Waynesboro, PA, Tampa, FL, New Kensington, PA and Kittanning, PA died on Monday December 17, 2007.
He was the husband of the late Jessie Rizzo Stillson whom he married on October 26, 1940.
Born on November 21, 1916 in Summerville, PA he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Pezzano Stillson.
Ross graduated from Kittanning High School in 1934 and served his country in the United States Navy during WWII as a radio operator aboard the USS Grainger. He was later employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad where he worked for 44 years and retired in 1977 as Chief Field Clerk . He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Waynesboro, PA, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kittanning and St. Joseph's in New Kensington. Ross was an avid golfer loved bowling, gardening and he also coached little league. He was president of the Italian American Club and member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks, American Legion and Lions clubs. He also was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan.
Surviving are his children; Brenda de Troeyer of Washington, DC, Leonard R. Stillson of Vandergrift, PA, Dennis F. Stillson of Poolesville, MD, Cynthia L. Spindel of Rockville, MD, Cheryl M. Herold of Waynesboro, PA, two brothers; Joseph Stillson of Mechanicsburg, PA, John Stillson of Las Vegas, NV, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Leonard Brent Stillson, three brothers; Anthony, Augustine and James Stillson and three sisters; Anne Abraham, Kathryn Barrett and Theresa Lemmon.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Friday December 21 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD. . Interment will be private.

Eleanor D. Pullen

Mrs. Eleanor D. "Ellie" Pullen, 66, of Jefferson, formerly of Gaithersburg, died on Sunday December 16, 2007.
She was the loving wife of James R. Pullen.
Born on June 1, 1941 in Boyds, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Alice Nicholson Burdette.
Surviving besides her husband are her children; Gregory E. Burdette, Johnny R. Pullen, James D. Pullen, Dolly A. Stephens, three brothers; Kenneth, Sam and John Burdette, two sisters; Bertha LaFleur and Louise Fritz and two grandchildren; Nathan Jared Stephens and Dane Lucas Pullen.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday December 19th from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD. where funeral services will be held on Thursday December 20th at 1pm.

John William Beall, Sr.

Mr. John William Beall, Sr., of Gaithersburg, MD passed on December 10th, 2007 at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD.
He was the beloved husband of Charito "Rose".
Born in Poolesville, MD he was the son of the late Marion "Buster" and Helen Beall. Johnny retired from Montgomery County Department of Transportation in 2003 after 39 years of service. In his retirement he was a part-time mail truck driver for McNeil Trucking. An avid Redskin fan, he also loved fishing and working in his vegetable garden.
Surviving besides his wife are his sons; John, Jr. and wife Kelly of Middletown, Jody of Germantown, two step children; Scarlett and husband Mark of Gaithersburg, Louie and wife Angela of Germantown, two sisters; Doris Glass and husband Charles, Jean Tetlow and husband Art all of Poolesville and 6 grandchildren; Heather Beall, Rianna, Milan, Jade, Renzo and Gage Warner. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Wilson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday December 13th from 5-8pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Friday December 14 at the Memorial United Methodist Church, 17821 Elgin Road, Poolesville, MD.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Johnny's name to the Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 358, Poolesville, MD 20837.

Elsie Doyle

Mrs. Elsie Doyle, age 95, of Kensington, MD died on Monday November 26, 2007.
She was the wife of the late Henry N. Doyle.
Surviving are her children; Mary Yakaitis, E. Cherry Doyle, Henry N. Doyle, Jr., Charles S. Doyle, Nancy J. Yow-Wilson, one brother; Maurice McWhorter, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter; Marcia D. Bartley.
A memorial service celebrating Elsie's life will be held at 11 am on Thursday November 29th at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 10401 Armory Avenue, Kensington, MD 20895.

Samuel C. T. McDowell

Mr. Samuel C. T. McDowell of Gaithersburg died on November 20, 2007.
Services are private.

Gwen H. DuBois

Mrs. Gwen H. DuBois, 79, of Boyds, Maryland died on Thursday November 15, 2007.
She was the wife of the late William F. DuBois, Jr.
Born on February 14, 1928 in Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Viola Heldebrand. Gwen was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Theodosia Heldebrand.
Surviving is her daughter, Karen Rhea and husband Jim of Boyds, three brothers; Bernard Heldebrand of Arkansas, James Heldebrand of Oklahoma, Lowell Heldebrand of Arkansas, one sister, Evelyn Wood of Texas and two grandchildren; Michael Iezzi of Rhode Island and William Rhea of Boyds.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Susan DuBois Iezzi and two sisters; Peggy Dortch and Betty Parker.
A memorial service celebrating Gwen's life will be held at 10:30am on Saturday December 1 at the Greenridge Baptist Church, 21925 Clarksburg Road, Clarksburg, MD 20871.

Robert D. Taylor

Mr. Robert D. Taylor, 65, of Poolesville, MD, died on Tuesday November 13, 2007.
He was the loving husband of Sandralee T. Taylor.
Born on May 13, 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama he was the son of the late Learon and Marjorie Wolf Taylor.
Mr. Taylor proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1965 - 1968 during the Vietnam War, was a graduate of the University of Maryland and a member of the Terrapin Club.
Surviving besides his wife are his two children, Robin T. Magaha and husband Rinnie of Beallsville, MD, Brian C. Taylor and wife Tara of Aberdeen, MD and four grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor, Maddison and Mackenzie.
He was preceded in death by one brother, D. Richard Taylor.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Bob will be held at 1PM on Monday November 19 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 20100 Fisher Ave., Poolesville, MD.

Greydon S. Tolson

Mr. Greydon Swift Tolson, Arborist, Forest Conservationist and County Administrator, died quietly on Friday, October 26 at the age of 85. He suffered from congestive heart failure.
He was the husband of the late Elisabeth Voss Tolson to whom he was married for 58 years and raised 5 children. They were active members of the Barnesville/Poolesville community from the time they moved there in 1953.
Born on July 31, 1922 in Stroudsburg, PA he was the son of the late Paul and Naomi Watson Tolson.
He served for 28 years as Chief of the Division of Trees, and later Chief of the Division of Services for Montgomery County, Maryland. After his retirement from the county government he worked with Guardian Tree Services and as an Independent Consulting Arborist for many more years.
On Arbor Day 2007 the Montgomery County Forestry Board honored him as the first recipient of an award established in his name: "The Greydon Tolson Forest Resource Conservationist Award." He founded the Montgomery County Forestry Board, and was an active member for 50+ years. In the 1950s he led the reorganization and activation of the Maryland State Forestry Boards. In the late 1960s he stepped in again to avert a crisis, and proposed a compromise, which saved the forestry board system. He served two terms as President of the State Association of Forest Conservancy District Boards. He contributed to the future of forestry by championing a forestry camp for youth now known as "Awareness Week for Forestry and Natural Resource Careers." He was active in the International Society of Arboriculture and the American Society of Consulting Arborists.
Greydon Tolson was born in Shawnee on the Delaware in Pennsylvania in 1922. He moved to
Montgomery County, Maryland at the age of 2 but spent many summers at his grandmother's house exploring the Delaware River and the forests around Shawnee. Mr. Tolson lived in Montgomery County, Maryland most of his life. He graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, and attended University of Maryland and Pennsylvania Military College.
He served in World War II as a Signal Corps Lineman with the 95th Infantry Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was Life Member of the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his children; Cathleen T. Phelan, Brian Robert Tolson, Leslie Tolson Newman, Sarah Blythe Glassco, Greydon Seth Tolson, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Mr. Tolson's life will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday November 1 at the St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 20100 Fisher Ave., Poolesville.

Robert H. Huff

Mr. Robert H. Huff, 71, of Germantown, died on Tuesday October 9, 2007 at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD.
He was the loving husband of Betty L. Huff.
Born on December 17, 1935 in Berryville, VA he was the son on the late Raymond W. and Hazel Owens Huff.
Surviving besides his wife are his two children; Robert B. Huff of FL, Sherry L. Huff of Germantown, MD two brothers; Nelson Huff of VA and Claude Allen Huff of WV, two grandchildren; James Robert Huff, Brittney Nicole Huff-Master and four great grandchildren; Brionna Huff-Gunther, Holden Huff, Cayden Masters and Cristen Masters.
Mr. Huff was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother.
The family will receive friends on Friday October 12 from 6-9 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1pm.
Interment will follow in Resthaven cemetery, Frederick, MD.

Allyn S. McGinley

Mrs. Allyn S. McGinley, 92, of Poolesville, MD died on Monday October 8, 2007.
She was the wife of the late Leo F. McGinley.
Surviving are her two children; James T. McGinley and Leo M. McGinley both of Poolesville, 3 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, John F. McGinley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday October 11 at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 17230 Tom Fox Ave., Poolesville, MD.
Burial will be private.

June C. Randles

Mrs. June C. Randles, 63, of Jefferson, MD, formerly of Gaithersburg, MD died on Friday October 5, 2007.
Born on October 2, 1944 in Rocky Mount, NC she was the daughter of the late George and Viola Estridge Goddard.
Surviving are her children; Scott Randles and wife Sherry of Jefferson, Tracie Fisher and husband Bill of Gaithersburg, one brother and three sisters; Wanda Gill of Gaithersburg, Marge Gillikin of West River, MD, George Goddard of Silver Spring, MD, Gail Maze of Rockville, MD and 4 grandchildren; Matthew and Holly Randles, Ashley and Meagan Hardy.
She will also be remembered by four special friends; Damar Erb, Barbara Childress, Linda Holmes and Kay Travis.
June was preceded in death by one brother, Randy Goddard.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 10 from 2-4 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD . A memorial service celebrating the life of June will follow at 5 pm at her son's residence, 3605 Promise Ct. Jefferson, MD.
