William T. Wootton

Mr. William T. Wootton, 94, died on Thursday October 4, 2007 after complications from a stroke.
He was a WWII veteran serving 2 ½ years overseas.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 60 years, Mary.
Surviving are is loving daughters; Kathleen Smathers (Rusty), Marilyn Tucker (Jim), Bobbie Rowles (Rusty), Mary Green, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Graveside services and inurnment will be held at 11 am on Wednesday October 10 at the Monocacy cemetery, Rt. 28 and Hunter Road, Beallsville, MD.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association,

Douglas Simms

Mr. Douglas Simms, 45, of Germantown died on September 27, 2007.
Services were private.

Hinckley Marion Burkett, Jr.

Mr. Hinckley Marion Burkett, Jr., 67, of Hagerstown, MD passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 17, 2007.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Ramona J. Burkett.
Born on October 24, 1939 in Poolesville, MD he was the son of the late Hinckley Marion and Alice R. Allnutt Burkett, Sr.
Mr. Burkett was blessed with amazing energy in body and spirit. He freely gave of his love and time to all he knew. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Myersville. He owned and operated The Import Center in Frederick for many years and was recently employed at Musket Ridge Golf Course.
Marion especially enjoyed his Wednesday golf outings with Leo, George, Kirby, "Bake" and also loved his "adopted sister" Shirley Teets.
Surviving besides his wife are his children; Jeffrey J. Burkett and wife Donna of SC, Laura A. Mellott and husband Jeff of Hagerstown, John A. Burkett and wife Melanie of Thurmont, three sisters; Peggy Simpkins and husband Dan of CA, Betty Abell and husband Kenneth of Frederick, Ellen Diehl of FL, one brother; Robert Burkett and wife Eleanor of PA, his grandchildren; Jeremy and Chelsea Burkett, Jason and Dustin Burkett, Kellie and Katie, Cameron and Ashleigh Humphrey, Emily Mellott, great grandchildren; Logan, Karleigh and Taylor and many aunts, uncles and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, M. Todd Burkett, grandson, Daniel Burkett, great-granddaughter, Kaylee Burkett and brother-in-law, Charlie (Jr) Diehl.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00pm Monday September 24, 2007 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Myersville with Rev. Mary K. Worrel officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the ALS Association, 615 S. Frederick Ave.

Shirley M. Bailey

Mrs. Shirley M. Bailey, 58, of Dickerson, died on Friday September 14, 2007 at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
She was the loving wife of Tom Bailey.
Born on August 17, 1949 she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy Embrey.
Surviving besides her husband is one son, Doug Bailey and wife Vanessa of Frederick, one sister, Peggy Linthicum, one brother, Ralph Embrey, Jr., four grandchildren; Chase, Hayden, Amanda and Haley.
She will also be missed by her "sister at heart", Diane Lakel.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday September 18 from 3-5 and 7-9pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109) Barnesville where funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 19 at 11am.
Interment will follow in Parklawn cemetery, Rockville.

Jeanne E. King

Mrs. Jeanne E. King, 60, of Harpers Ferry, WV died on Friday September 14, 2007.
She was the wife of William King.
Born on June 10, 1947 she was the daughter of the late William Russell and Viola Whisman Baker, Sr.
Jeanne volunteered at the Children's Inn at NIH, was a routine platelet donor at NIH and a member of the Dickerson Methodist Church.
Surviving besides her husband are her children; Valerie Turnquist of Knoxville, MD, Connie King of Harpers Ferry, WV, Kristi Cunningham of Miami, FL, one brother; William Baker, Jr. of Berkeley Springs, WV and 7 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday September 17 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109) Barnesville .
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday September 18 at the Dickerson Methodist Church, 20341 Dickerson Church Road, Dickerson, MD.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville, MD.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Children's Inn at NIH, 7 West Drive, Bethesda, MD 20814 (www.childrensinn.org)

Dorothy M. Whalen

Mrs. Dorothy M. Whalen, "Dottie", 86, of Rockville, died on Sunday September 9, 2007.
She was the wife of the late Douglas Whalen, Sr.
She was born on July 15, 1921 in Washington, DC.
Surviving are her children; Peggy Clark and husband Gary of NC, Helen Kaelin and husband Norbert of Gaithersburg, Dorothy Snyder and husband John of Gaithersburg, Joyce McElfish and husband Jack of GA, Douglas Whalen, Jr. and wife Barbara of Rockville, John Whalen of Clarksburg, 4 grandchildren; Lisa Hilton, Brenda Roundy, Mark Snyder, Kelly McElfish and 6 great grandchildren; Brittany, Stephanie and Christina Hilton, Kalen and Maggie Roundy and Rachel Snyder.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday September 11 from 6-9pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109) Barnesville .
Funeral services will be held at 10am on Wednesday September 12 at the Derwood Bible Church, 16011 Chieftain Ave., Derwood, MD.
Interment will follow in Forest Oak cemetery, Gaithersburg.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Derwood Bible Church, 16011 Chieftain Ave., Derwood, MD 20855.

Lillian D. Poole

Mrs. Lillian D. Poole, 60, of Frederick, died on Friday September 7, 2007 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick.
She was the wife of John E. Poole, Jr.
Born on January 17, 1947 in Castor, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Evie Mae Potts Temple.
"Mimi" as she was known, was a member of the "Do's and Don't's" Monday Night Bowling League.
Surviving besides her husband are her children; Belinda Marks and husband Stephen of Frederick, John E. Poole, III and wife Veronica of Frederick, her brothers and sisters; Faye Webb and husband Bub of Monrovia, Bill Temple and wife Teresa, Verna Leshe and husband Mike, Juanita Nailes and husband Donald, Martha Reeves, Harvey Temple and wife Janet all of Castor, LA and five grandchildren; A.J. and Dylan Gardner, Madison Marks, Mason Day and Kyla Poole. She also leaves her faithful companion Bronson.
Mrs. Poole was preceded in death by her siblings, Elmer, John and Terry Lynn Temple.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday September 12th at the Chapel in Mt. Olivet cemetery, 515 S. Market Street, Frederick, MD.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Frederick Christian Fellowship Church Building Fund, 10142 Hansonville Rd., Frederick, MD 21702.

Constance M. Labash

Mrs. Constance M. Labash, 81, of Frederick, MD died on Wednesday September 5, 2007.
Born on July 15, 1926 in New Hartford, NY she was the daughter of the late John and Stephanie Cantor Bialas.
Connie was a former president of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority Chapter.
Surviving are two sons; Thomas Labash and wife Tina of Scottsdale, AZ, James Labash and wife Jeanne of Frederick and one granddaughter, Colleen Labash. She was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Labash.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM on Friday September 7 at the Boyds Presbyterian Church cemetery, 19901 White Ground Road, Boyds, MD.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Connie's name to the Frederick Festival of the Arts, 320 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.

Tom P. Kaufman

Mr. Tom P. Kaufman, 53 of Poolesville, MD died on Tuesday August 28, 2007.
He was the husband of Donna Kaufman, father of Amanda, Benjamin, Anthony and Christina Kaufman and son of Julie Kaufman and the late Don Kaufman.
The family will receive friends on Friday August 31 from 5-9pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday September 1 at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 17230 Tom Fox Ave., Poolesville, MD. Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Tom's name to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016. www.kidney.org

Jerry Lee Guynn

Mr. Jerry Lee Guynn, age 62, of Florence, SC passed away August 26, 2007. He is survived by his parents; Rachie and James E. Guynn, Sr., of Wytheville, VA, two brothers; James E. Guynn, Jr. of Max Meadow, VA and Douglas D. Guynn of Florence, SC. He was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd (Eddie) Guynn.
Mr. Guynn graduated from Poolesville High School in 1964, had retired from Montgomery County and was a life time member of the American Motorcycle Association.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday August 29 from 6-8pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road, Barnesville, where funeral services will be held on Thursday August 30 at 11am.
Interment will follow in Boyds Presbyterian Church cemetery, Boyds.

Melba M. Tully

Mrs. Melba M. Tully, 87, of Germantown, MD died on Saturday August 25, 2007.
She was the loving wife of Joseph G. Tully, mother of Linda Sue Johnson of Germantown, sister of John P. Weber of Ohio and grandmother of 3.
Graveside services will be held at the Arlington Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio later in the week.

Stephen S. Boynton

Mr. Stephen S. Boynton, 70, of Dickerson, MD died on Friday August 24, 2007.
He was the loving husband of Ingrid L. Boynton, father of Stuart A. Hindle of Vienna, VA and grandfather of Carolyn. Mr. Boynton was preceded in death by one son, Scott Boynton. He was a member of the Wildlife Conservation Institute, NRA, Fort Point Hunt Club, Duck Unlimited "Life Sponsor", and the D.C. Bar Association.
A Memorial Service celebrating Stephen's life will be held at 3 pm on September 25 at the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, 9750 Meadowlark Gardens Court, Vienna, VA 22182 with the family receiving friends from 2 - 7pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Stephen S. Boynton Memorial Fund, International Foundation for the Conservation of Natural Resources (IFCNR), P.O. Box 1019, Poolesville, MD 20837.
