Betty V. Zimmerman

Mrs. Betty V. Zimmerman, 65, of Gaithersburg, died on February 3, 2010.
Born on July 20, 1944 she was the daughter of the late George and Julia Thomas Poole.
Surviving are her two children, Jimmy and Beverly Atwell, two brothers, Ronnie W. Poole, George G. Poole (Mary) and two sisters, Joan E. Moore and Barbara E. Black.
Services are private.

Lillian M. Hansen

Mrs. Lillian Hansen died of natural causes on February 1st 2010 at a rehabilitation facility near Washington, D.C., where she suffered complications after a second stroke on November 12. Mrs. Hansen was the youngest of ten children born on the family farm near Estelline, S.D. to Andrew Peder Fjerestad (nee Balholm, Ballestrand, Norway in 1859) and Anna
Karina Stensland Fjerestad (nee Dodge County, MN in 1871 of a Norwegian emigrant family). Mrs. Hansen graduated from Estelline High School, Nettleton Business College (Sioux Falls), and also received licensed beautician training, as well. During World War II, Mrs. Hansen worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington DC., along with her older
sister Stella. She moved back to South Dakota after the war, and married Loyd Harley Hansen on June 30, 1946, who was her devoted husband of 44 years. Lillian Hansen founded Sioux Falls Welcome Service, which she ran for many years after a successful career in business and public relations with the Disabled American Veterans, Gold Bond Stamp Redemption Service, and the Terrace Park Dairy. Mrs. Hansen was a great friend to all animals: she founded a turtle rescue, and supported a variety of rescues as well as the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society. She is survived by her only child, Carol Rae Hansen, Ph.D., her son-in-law Andrew S. Gilmour, and her Granddaughter, Grace Hansen-Gilmour; two sisters-in-law, Marie Fjerestad and Dorothy Hansen; and a large extended family and many devoted friends. Funeral services were held at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls at 1:30 p.m. in
the Chapel on Saturday February 13th. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society, and or the Humane Society of the U.S.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday February 28 from 1-4 pm at their residence located at 14921 Sugarland Road, Poolesville, MD 20837. Parking will be via the barn lane in the riding ring. Those with walking problems can be droped off at the house. Kathleen Ann Carlin

Mrs. Kathleen A. Carlin, 61, of Germantown, MD on Friday January 29, 2010.
Loving wife of Patrick W. Carlin, sister of Margaret Mautone, Bonnie Elliott, Tom, Jim, Robert and Ed Gossard, step-mother of Danielle, Thomas and Steven Carlin.
The family will receive friends on Thursday February 4 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD. .directions
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Friday February 5 at Gate of Heaven cemetery Chapel, 13801 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, MD.directions

Laura C. Jamison

Mrs. Laura Conlon Jamison, 91, of Adamstown, Maryland, formerly a long-time resident of Poolesville, died January 24, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born September 19, 1918, in Washington, DC, she was a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Laura G. Conlon. She was the wife of the late Charles H. Jamison, and was predeceased by her siblings Thomas A. Conlon, Jr., Sara E. Conlon, and Mary C. Ware.
She graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Washington, DC, in 1936, and was a 1940 graduate of Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Prior to her marriage in 1942, she was employed with the Montgomery County Board of Education as a secretary. She later resided in Dickerson, Maryland, and taught at Poolesville High School. In 1950, the Jamisons moved to their home farm in Poolesville, where they raised their six children and established Charles H. Jamison Real Estate. Mrs. Jamison worked in their Poolesville business until her retirement at the age of 82.
Being a strong proponent of the importance of education, Laura, for many years, actively participated in and financially supported the Poolesville schools PTAs and sports programs. Her community involvement also included leadership roles in the Upper Montgomery County Soroptomist International, and the St. Mary's Choir and Sodality. Laura generously supported the Poolesville community, the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department, and the Buckingham's Choice Retirement Community.
She is survived by her six children: Charles "Jamie" (Kathryn), Laura (Patrick), William (Pamela), Aimee, Robert (Susan), Franklin (Octavia), 12 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 1 great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are by Hilton Funeral Home, Barnesville, Maryland. Visitation is on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, from 2 to 4 pm and from 6 to 8 pm.directions. A funeral Mass of Celebration is scheduled at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Road, Barnesville, Maryland, on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at 11 am.directions
The Jamison Family extends thanks to the Buckingham's Choice staff for their dedicated care and support during the past 10 years.

Paul M. Kelley

Mr. Paul M. Kelley, 79, of Darnestown, died Sunday January 24, 2010.
Born on March 3, 1930 in Washington, DC he was the son of the late Thomas C. and Catherine M. Kelley.
Paul served in the Air Force during the Korean War 1951-1955, was past president of the Monocacy Lions Club, Lifetime Member of the American Legion Post 104 and co-owner of Anderson and Kelley Auto Parts in Boyds.
Surviving are his children, Justin H. Kelley and wife Kathleen, Christopher M. Kelley and wife Dawn, Kurt A. Kelley, Katie E. Soeder and husband Gregg; one sister, Elizabeth L. Kelley, 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Paul was preceded in death by one son, Paul M. Kelley, Jr. and one brother, John Thomas "Tom" Kelley.
The family will receive friends on Thursday January 28 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD.directions.
Graveside services will be private.

Elizabeth "Betsi" Kelly

Mrs. Elizabeth "Betsi" Kelly, 40, of Poolesville, formerly of New Jersey, died of kidney cancer on January 11, 2010.
Born on February 25, 1969 in Austin, Texas, she was the daughter of Sheila Eberhardt of New Jersey and the late Joseph Eberhardt.
She was the wife of Frederick "Freddy" Kelly for 6 years.
Mrs. Kelly was an artist and teacher in the Montgomery County Public School System.
Survivors in addition to her husband and mother include three daughters, Cassidy S. Kelly, Caitlyn M. Kelly and Helena L. Kelly all of Poolesville; and three brothers. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of The Presentation Church, 17230 Tom Fox Ave., Poolesville, MD on January 16 at noon.directions

Mary Frances Donnelly

Miss Mary F. Donnelly, 90, of Bethesda, MD died on Wednesday January 6, 2010.
Sister of Anne Donnelly and Dorothy Rose. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret and Eleanor Donnelly and four brothers, John, Ken, Charles and Francis Donnelly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Monday January 11th at the Little Flower Parish, 5607 Massachusetts Avenue, Bethesda, Maryland 20816.directions Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.

Agnes M. Beach

Ms. Agnes M. Beach, 58 of Charlestown, WV passed away Saturday December 19, 2009 at her residence after a long battle with cancer. Born on January 18, 1951 in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late James Beach Sr. and Hisle Beach of Dickerson, MD. She is survived by her life long companion Donald Dodson, her son Daniel Beach of Urbana, her daughter Pamela Norris and Glen Norris of Ranson, WV, and Lynn Beach of Frederick, MD, four grandchildren, Travis Beach, Joseph Beach, Charlee Beach and Jacob Norris, two brothers Ronald Beach and John Beach of Dickerson, MD. Agnes was preceded in death by a brother James Beach, Jr. of Kearrneysville, WV. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews and extended family. The family will receive friends on Sunday December 27th from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD where funeral services will be held on Monday December 28th at 11 am.directions. Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville, MD.

Richard B. Warfield

Mr. Richard B. Warfield, 36, of Durham, NC, formerly of Germantown, passed away suddenly on Wednesday December 16, 2009.
Born on February 9, 1973 he was the son of Jeannie Reffit Warfield of Durham and Thomas W. Warfield of Germantown.
Surviving besides his parents is his maternal grandmother, Edna B. Reffit of Boyds, paternal grandmother, Mary O. Warfield of Naples, FL and aunts, Kay Reffit-Curtis of Boyds and Kathy Peppers of Naples.
Rich attended Seneca Valley High School and Coastal Carolina University, where he was a brother of the Sigma Epsilon fraternity. He was well known for his exuberant personality, kind heart and dedication to rescuing abused dogs.
Family will receive friends on Monday December 21 from 5-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville.directions
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday December 22 at the Boyds Presbyterian Church, 19901 White Ground Rd., Boyds, MD 20841. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Charles F. Gowans

Mr. Charles F. Gowans, Maryland State Police Retired, suddenly on Wednesday December 2, 2009.
Survived by his wife, Kate, son Steve (Susan), granddaughter, Katarina and a brother Thomas.
He was preceded in death by a son, Chuck, CPO USN.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Monday December 7 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Road, Barnesville.directions

Elsie L. Zalinski

Mrs. Elsie Zalinski, of Poolesville passed away on Friday November 27, 2009. She was 66 years old. Born on December 9, 1942 she was the daughter of the late Paris W. and Elsie P. Lambert.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, John T. Zalinski of Poolesville.
Also surviving are her loving children and grandchildren; daughter, Deana Burdette and husband Frank, their children; Tammi and Lacy Hanna of Frederick and a beautiful great granddaughter Delaney Hanna, also Kelsey, Kayla and Tyler Burdette all of Brunswick, daughter Kelli L. Nichols, grandson Jordan Marceron and a special person, Mike all of Poolesville, step-daughter Debra Duvall of Frederick, step granddaughter Shannon Nichols, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda Bowen and two brothers, William and Jasper Lambert.
Elsie was a lifetime member of the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She retired as a Montgomery County Public School bus driver after 25 years of service in July of 2000. Elsie loved to shop and spend time with her family and friends. She will be missed by her very best friend of 21 years, Bertha Malone.
The family will receive friends on Sunday November 29 from 6-9 P.M. at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville. where funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday November 30.directions
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations in Elsie's name to the American Cancer Society, American Juvenile Diabetes Association or the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxillary.
