Nancy D. Bowman

Mrs. Nancy D. Bowman on September 8, 2011, age 94, of Buckingham's Choice, Adamstown, Md, formerly of Gaithersburg. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, John D. Bowman, sons J. Darby Bowman Jr., Douglas B. Bowman, David W. Bowman, Peter T. Bowman, and by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services private.

Murray A. Seeger

Mr. Murray Amsdell Seeger peacefully completed his earthly journey in the loving hands of his wife for 51 years, Palma. Murray was born to Carl and Leta Seeger in Lackawanna, NY, and reared with his sisters Jeanne and Elizabeth. He graduated from Hamburg High School, the University of Iowa and the Nieman Fellowship for Journalism at Harvard University. His life work in newspapers took them from Cleveland to New York to Washington and around the world with stations in Singapore, Brussels, Bonn and Moscow. Later, he served as the Director of Information for the AFL -CIO and as assistant director for external relations at the International Monetary Fund. He also lectured as a visiting or guest professor of journalism at American University, George Washington University and the Universities of Iowa, Maryland and Michigan. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth, wife Palma of Leisure World in Silver Spring, son Stephen and daughter-in-law Beth, grandsons Jack and Joe Seeger who carry the spirit of their grandfather in their souls, and countless friends whom he touched over the years. A memorial to honor his life and friendships will be held at the National Press Club on September 17 at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Murray's name to the University of Iowa, School of Journalism.

Harry Lee Harner

Mr. Harry Lee Harner, 76, of Boyds, MD passed away Friday August 26, 2011 at the Casey House Hospice on Muncaster Mill Rd., Rockville after a 27 year illness.
Born January 10, 1935 in Boyds, he was the son of the late Charles Jacob and Dorothy Marie Harner.
Mr. Harner attended Richard Montgomery High School. He worked with his father and grandfather then moved into private construction for several years. Harry next went to work for the federal government. He worked at the Naval Surface Weapons Center in White Oak for 20 years and retired from the Federal Government as a Planner Estimator in 1987.
Harry enjoyed spending time at Deep Creek Lake, hunting fishing, gardening and spending time with his 5 grandchildren. In his later years he had a beautiful black and white cat, "Precious" that he worshiped. She was his companion for the final years of his life.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Doris Elaine Harner; a son, Ronald Jacob Harner and his wife Darlene of Falling Waters, WV; two daughters, Patricia Elaine Taylor and husband Paul of New Market, Janet Marie Lawless and husband James of Gaithersburg; 5 grandchildren, Bryan Taylor and wife Wendy of Frederick, Jacob Taylor of New Market, James Lawless and wife Lindsey of Richland Center, WI, Julie Lawless of Washington, DC, Devon Harner of Falling Waters, WV; one great granddaughter, Adelyn Lawless whom he loved with all his heart; two sisters, Frances Suddarth of Walkersville, Essie McClane of Inverness, FL and one brother, Roland Harner of Annapolis.
He was preceded in death by one son, Harry Lee Harner, Jr., a brother, Charles Melvin Harner.
The family will receive friends on Monday August 29 from 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville where funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 30 at 11 am.
Interment will follow in Boyds Presbyterian Church cemetery, Boyds.
Flowers are welcome or donations in Harry's name to the Casey House, 6001 Muncaster Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20855.

Edwin R. Dudley

Mr. Edwin Dudley, 47, of Dawsonsville, died on Monday August 15, 2011.
Born on October 15, 1963 he was the son of Emily Dudley and the late Ernest R. Dudley.
Surviving besides his mother are two sisters, Mary D. Owen and husband James of Charlottesville, VA, Barbara D. Herald and husband Michael of Frederick; one nephew, Michael Herald, Jr. and one niece, Pamela Herald.
The family will receive friends on Thursday August 18 from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville where funeral services will be held on Friday August 19 at 11 am.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.

Dr. Philip J. Snoy, DVM

Dr. Philip Joseph Snoy, DVM passed away on Monday, August 15. Dr. Snoy was born September 3, 1951 in Indianapolis, IN, the son of Betty and Joseph B. Snoy. He attended Colorado State University and received his DVM from the University of Illinois Veterinary School. Dr. Snoy, who was board certified in pathology, was the Director of the Division of Veterinary Services at the Food and Drug Administration.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Francie Dougherty; his daughter, Julia Victoria Snoy and her fiancé, Zachary Reiziss; his parents of Machesney Park, Illinois; his sisters, Victoria J. Snoy and her husband, Niko Popovic; Rebecca S. Laible and her daughter, Leslie S. Laible; and Sara J. Snoy and her husband, Don Scare; his brother-in-law, Park R. Dougherty, his wife, Martha Dougherty and their children, Elizabeth, Frank and Renee Dougherty; his sister-in-law, Renee Dougherty and her daughter, Marina Josephine Daniel.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 19, 2011 at noon at the Potomac Hunt Club, 21315 Peach Tree Road, Dickerson, Maryland. Another memorial service will be held in Rockford, Illinois in early September. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Dr. Snoy to Parent Encouragement Program, 10100 Connecticut Avenue, Kensington, MD 20895; Coronado Performing Arts Center, 314 North Main Street, Rockford, Il 61101; or to the Newark Boys Chorus School, 1016 Broad Street, Newark, NJ 07102.

Herbert T. Dixon

Mr. Herbert T. Dixon of Leesburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2011. He was 97 years old.
Herbert was born in Barnesville, Maryland in 1913, and resided there for 62 years. He later made his home in Leesburg, Virginia. The son of Eberly T. Dixon, rural letter carrier, and Zora V. Dixon, homemaker, he had two loving sisters, Agnes Luhn of Damsacus and Evelyn Matthews of Dickerson. He was married to the love of his life, Stacy Rosamond Dixon, before she predeceased him in 1991. He leaves a niece, Nancy Cawley of McLean, VA, who will greatly miss her Uncle Herb.
During World War II Herbert served in Tunisia, Naples, Rome, and North Africa under General Patton. He was the recipient of three Army service medals. He spent his career as an electrician at the National Institutes of Health. Lifelong interests included salt-water fishing, travel, and reading. He had a fascination with all things mechanical. A faithful member of the Baptist Church, he rarely missed a Sunday service. He had a sharp mind, keen memory, and kind and gentle ways.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 (visitation at 10:00) Thursday, August 11 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD. Interment will follow in the Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.

Norman P. Leibrand

Mr. Norman P. Leibrand, "Mouse", 74, of Poolesville, passed away on Sunday July 24, 2011.
He was the loving husband of Elsie Leibrand. Born on June 24, 1937 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late George Leibrand and Gladys East.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Norman P. Leibrand, Jr. of Lynnwood, WA, Roy A. Leibrand and wife Maggie of Dickerson; two brothers, Wyman "Bucky" Leibrand, Archie East; three sisters, Barbara Close, Linda Murray, Peggy Hendon; six grandchildren, Cody, Jordan, Hannah, Nina, Anna, Nick and one great grandchild, Brody.
Norman was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Herbert "Toogie" Leibrand.
The family will receive friends on Friday July 29 from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday July 30 at the Poolesville Baptist Church, 17550 W. Willard Road, Poolesville, MD 20837.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.

Elizabeth "Betty" Moore Copsey

Ms. Elizabeth "Betty" Moore Copsey, 66, of Silver Spring, MD died on Friday July 22, 2011.
Born in Frederick on October 2, 1944 she was the daughter of the late Joseph Collinson and Edna Carolyn Donahoe Moore.
Surviving are two sons, Alan Copsey (Jen) of Ellicott City, MD, Eric Copsey of Bethesda, MD; one sister, Carolyn Hodgkins (Earl) of Wilmington, NC and two granddaughters, Rachel and Leah Copsey.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 26 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, where the funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 27 at 11 am.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville, MD.

Raymond E. Poole

Mr. Raymond E. Poole, 84, of Poolesville, died on Wednesday July 20, 2011.
He was the loving husband of Frances Mae "Billie" Poole.
Born on August 2, 1926 in Poolesville, he was the son of the late John E. and Sarah Beall Poole.
As a youngster Raymond was a member of the 4-H Club and the Poolesville FFA, serving as an officer in each. He was an avid exhibitor showing livestock and crops. Raymond worked on his father's farm until 1945. In 1947 he started work in Guy Allnutt's store at Seneca and in 1965 purchased the business and renamed it "Poole's General Store". He and his family ran the store a favorite landmark by many until its recent closing. Raymond raised over a hundred head of beef cattle along with sheep and chickens to add color to the store's environment for the city folks that would come out his way. He was also a member of the Carroll Manor Grange #406 and the Bethesda Chevy Chase Izaak Walton League. He was a member of Poolesville Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving besides his wife are six children, James Poole and wife Mary Jane, Linda Willis and husband Herman, John Poole and wife Debbie, Carolyn Arnold and husband Eddy, Jo Ann Clements, Marilyn Poole and partner Allen Duckett; two sisters, Anne Harvey and husband John, and Blanche Rippeon; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday July 24 from 5-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday July 25 at the Memorial United Methodist Church, 17821 Elgin Road, Poolesville, MD 20837.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.

David Brian Spring

Mr. David Brian Spring, 56, of Clarksburg, died suddenly on Sunday July 17, 2011.
Born on September 1, 1954 he was the son of Rupert W., Jr. and Nancy Jo Spring of Dickerson.
Surviving besides his parents are two brothers, Michael Spring (Sandra) of Salisbury, Steven Spring (Jody) of Gaithersburg; one sister, Pamela Jamison (William) of Dickerson; eight
nieces, one nephew and one great niece.
David was preceded in death by his twin brother, Dennis Spring and one sister-in-law, Barbara Spring.
The family will receive friends on Friday July 22 from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville.
Inurnment will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Boyds Presbyterian Church, 19901 White Ground Road, Boyds, MD 20841.

Sharon M. Remsburg

Mrs. Sharon M. Remsburg, 57, of Adamstown, died on Saturday July 2, 2011 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.
She was the loving wife of Fred Remsburg.
Born on August 27, 1953 in Gaithersburg, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Josephine Ratliff Cox.
Sharon worked at Monocacy Elementary School as a librarian for many years.
Surviving are her three daughters, Sarah McGuire (Jeremy) of Cresaptown, MD, Samantha and Sabrina Remsburg both of Adamstown; four sisters, Elizabeth Grubb (Howard) of Rocky Ridge, Barbara Oliver of Gore, VA, Patricia Free (Monte) of Frederick, Nancy Wilner and fiancée Lee of Falling Waters, WV and one granddaughter, Emily McGuire. She will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, her work friends, the OPP Crew and high school friends. There is also one grandson on the way.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday July 6 from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville where funeral services will be held on Thursday July 7 at 10 am.
Graveside services will be held at 4 pm in Maple Hill cemetery, Petersburg, WV.
