Francis Raymond "Ray" Poole

Mr. Francis Raymond "Ray" Poole, 80 of Palmetto, Florida, formerly of Dickerson, died peacefully at home on September 24, 2012.
He was the husband of 54 years of Anna Jane Poole.
Born on October 17, 1931 in Dickerson, he was the son of the late Frank and Mollie Virginia (Young) Poole.
Ray worked 30 years for the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission and then 15 years as a Montgomery County Public School bus driver.
He was a member of the Moose Club, Issac Walton Gun Club and Coon Club.
Surviving besides his wife is one son, Randy Poole and wife Lisa of Hancock; one daughter, Donna Keys and husband Michael of Frederick; one sister Mary Woodfield of Rockville; two brothers, Lendy Poole and wife Nancy of Georgia, William Poole of Poolesville; 6 grandchildren, Thomas and wife Kristin, Matt and wife Felicia, Shannon, Melissa, Brittany, Ryan and girlfriend Taylor and 7 great grandchildren, William, Gavin, Logan, Summer, Cayden, Brady and Addyson.
The family will receive friends on Friday September 28 from 5-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD, where funeral services will be held on Saturday September 29 at 11 am.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville, MD.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dickerson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 66, Dickerson, MD 20842, Tidewell Hospice, 4151 37th Street East, Palmetto, FL 34221 (tidewell.org) or the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).

Judith Kuertz Gallagher

Mrs. Judith (Judy) Faulkner Kuertz Gallagher, of Comus, MD, age 90, wife of the late Hon. George R. Gallagher of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, passed away on September 22, 2012, at her home, Ardara Farm. The youngest child of Referee in Bankruptcy William Jerome Kuertz, Sr., and Florence Mulvihill Kuertz, Judy was born on July 13, 1922 in Cincinnati, OH. She attended the Summit Country Day School in Cincinnati, OH, and Georgian Court Women's College in Lakewood, NJ. Following the outbreak of World War II, Judy returned to Cincinnati where she volunteered as a driver for the military to help the war effort. After her marriage in 1947, she moved to Albany, NY, and then to the Washington, DC/MD area. Judy was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Barnesville, MD, the Monocacy Garden Club, the Tuesday Bridge Group, the Historic Medley District Book Club, and Congressional Country Club. Her many interests also included European travel with her family as well as renovating and decorating her two historic homes: the 1787 Joseph Magruder House - "Trouble Enough" - in Potomac, MD, and the 1872 Thomas Grunwell Farmhouse in Comus, MD, both of which were then featured in local house tours. Judy's wit, charm, and sparkling blue eyes endeared her to her many friends, whom she delighted in entertaining. Judy was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, the Hon. George R. Gallagher, of Comus, MD, her brother William Jerome Kuertz, Jr., and sisters Virginia Kuertz Healey Trainor and Marjorie Kuertz Crotty, all of Cincinnati, OH. She is survived by her children, Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Gallagher and Christopher R. Gallagher, both of Comus, MD, and her nieces and nephews: Mary (Mimi) Frances Healey Fallon, of Windham, NH, Cherie Kuertz Murphy, Ph.D., of Dallas, TX, Kevin Healey, Connie Kuertz, and Nancy Kuertz, all of Cincinnati, OH, Jeffrey Crotty, of Sarasota, FL, Brendan Crotty, of Lafayette, CO, Malcolm Crotty, of Chapin, SC, Cynthia Crotty Katz, of Cincinnati, OH, and Dermot Crotty, of CA, Michela Gallagher, Ph.D., of Baltimore, MD, Spencer Gallagher, of Park City, UT, Edward Gallagher, of Washington, DC, John E. Avery, of Palm Beach, FL, and Madison, CT, George Avery, of Chevy Chase, MD, and Stonington, CT, Patricia Avery of Washington, DC, and Stonington, CT, Donna Marshall Constantinople and Jenifer Marshall Lippincott, both of Washington, D.C., Maura Marshall Wright, of Roanoke, VA, and Marsh S. Marshall, Jr., of Bethesda, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at St. Mary's Church & Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, 18230 Barnesville Rd, Barnesville, MD. Officiating will be Father Kevin P. O'Reilly. Light refreshments will be served at the Pavilion following the Mass. Interment will take place at Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville, MD. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hilton's Funeral Home in Barnesville, MD . In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Mary's Church, P.O. Irene Nichols Mee

Irene Nichols Mee, age 83, passed away on September 21, 2012 at her home in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Irene was an extraordinary woman with great zest for life and an energetic spirit. She was defined by her commitment to family, work, and community. Irene's distinguished career spanned 57 years in government and private industry and she was most proud of "breaking the glass ceiling". She was a dedicated and independent person who forged new roads for women, working in senior directorships in several organizations while mentoring others to follow in her footsteps. Irene had a keen mind, quick wit and was always open to new adventures and experiences. She enjoyed a good game of bridge which she played several times weekly, gourmet food, political discussion, reading, liberal causes, travel, and, most of all, the company of friends and family.
Loved ones include her children, Robin, Steve, and Sally, son-in-law Derick Moore, daughter-in-law Erin Mee, and grandsons Wesley Goar, James Mee, Max Moore, Sean Goar, and Cole Moore, sister Lois Ellis, and her many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death are husband James I Mee lll and brothers James and Milton Nichols. She leaves behind dear friends all over the country, and in particular those at Kentlands Manor, where she has lived since 2007.
Irene was born in Willoughby, Ohio and graduated from The Ohio State University where she was a Chi Omega. She lived and worked in Ohio, the Washington DC area, Pennsylvania and Colorado.

Josephine Darney

Mrs. Josephine Darney (Zwierzewicz), 100, of Westminster, MD, formerly of the Pittsburgh area, died on September 21, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Westminster, Maryland.
Wife of the late David T. Darney.
Born on September 18, 1912 in Martins Ferry, OH, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Wanda (Kadubowska) Zwierzewicz.
Surviving is one daughter, Carol M. Lang of Salisbury, MD; one son, David F. Darney of Palm Coast, FL; two grandchildren, Stephen Lang and Tracy Darney and four great grandchildren.
Josephine was preceded in death by one son, Raymond B. Darney, three sisters, Helen Kubick, Laura Mueck, Jane Zewlinski and two brothers, John Zwierzewicz and Joseph Blake.
A holy Mass of Roman Catholic Burial Rite will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Road, Barnesville, MD. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Church cemetery.

Richard Cumings

Mr. Richard Glenn Cumings, 85, of Rockville, died on September 19, 2012.
He was the husband of Jane (Clagett) Cumings.
Surviving besides his wife is one son, Glenn Cumings and wife Jean (Burdick) of Germantown; one daughter, Catherine Cumings of FL and one sister, Dorothy I. Cumings of Alexandria, VA.
Arrangements pending.

Jaralyn "Jeri" L. Hough

Mrs. Jaralyn "Jeri" L. Hough of Boyds, died on September 17, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday September 27 at the Boyds Presbyterian Church, 19901 White Ground Rd., Boyds, MD. To read an obituary from the Barnesville School click here

John D. Bowman

John Darby Bowman, 93, of Adamstown, MD, formerly of Rockville, MD and Gaithersburg, MD on Saturday, September 15, 2012. He was the preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Nancy Diamond Bowman. John is survived by his sons, J. Darby Bowman, Douglas B. Bowman, David W. Bowman and Peter T. Bowman, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services private.

Richard F. "Buddy" Wade

Mr. Richard F. "Buddy" Wade, 80, of Knoxville, died on September 14, 2012 at the Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy.
He was the husband of Susan A. Wade.
Born on August 18, 1932 he was the son of the late Crawford and Emma (Newton) Wade.
Buddy is also survived by his children, Richard "Richie" Wade of Germantown and daughter Rita Wade of Tennessee, his grandchildren and cousins, Chuck Wade, Thomas de Beck, Zourie Light and Evelyn Patricia McLaughlin.
Services private.

Roger William Gentsch

Mr. Roger William Gentsch, 84, of Poolesville died on September 12, 2012. Mr. Gentsch was born in Batavia, New York on September 11, 1928 to Bernhard George Gentsch and Ethel Henkels Gentsch. Mr. Gentsch is survived by his nephews Bernhard Gentsch of Wilmette, IL and Andrew Gentsch of Philadelphia, PA. He was preceded in death by brothers Andrew, Bernhard and sister Marcia Ann. He will be fondly remembered by many friends but especially Pat and Barbara Michaels, Sara Lee Greenhalgh, Jean Findlay, Michael Rock and Don, Denise, Evan and Brian Habib. Mr. Gentsch requested that his remains be donated for medical research. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.

Kay Evelyn Poch

Mrs. Kay Poch, age 77, of Boyds, MD, died on September 8, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital Hospice.
She was born December 8, 1934 in Frederick, MD. The daughter of the late
Karl T. and Ruby Thomas Weimar.
Kay was a member of St. Mary's Church in Barnesville, MD, St. Mary's Sodality of Our Lady, Monocacy Garden Club, and Comus Homemakers.
She taught furniture upholstery for Adult Education in both Montgomery and Frederick Counties.
Her passions, in life, were her grandchildren, playing bridge and her relationships with her friends.
She is survived by four sons: Michael and wife Debora, Thomas and partner Michelle Cole, David and wife Kimberly, and Stephen. Six grandchildren: Megan, Karen, Kristen, Justin, David and Emma, her brother Ted Weimar and his wife Sue, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard F. Poch who was co-owner of Poch Hardware in Potomac, a son, Bernard F Poch, Jr., sister Barbara and her husband Calvin Ausherman.
The family will be receiving friends at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road, Barnesville, MD on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at St. Mary's Church Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, 18230 Barnesville Rd., Barnesville. Officiating will be Father Kevin O'Reilly
Interment will follow at Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick, MD.
A reception will follow at her home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Mary's Sodality of Our Lady, P.O. Box 67, Barnesville, MD 20838

Ronald "Ronnie" Keith LeMarr

Mr. Ronald "Ronnie" K. LeMarr, 59, of Dickerson, died on Monday September 3, 2012 at Casey House in Rockville.
Born on February 6, 1953 in Olney, he was the son of the late Edgar C. and Frances (Cregger) LeMarr.
Ronnie was a Life Member of the Montgomery County Agricultural Center.
Surviving is one brother, Donald C. LeMarr, Sr. and wife Jeanie, two sisters, Judy I. Spicer and husband Dick and Cheyrl A. LeMarr
Ronnie will also be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday September 7 from 11 am - 12 noon at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD, where funeral services will take place at 12 noon, following the visitation
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville, MD.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Casey House Hospice, 6001 Muncaster Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20855.
