Jean Carolyn White

Jean Carolyn White, Dickerson, MD, went to be with her Lord on March 23, 2013. She was the wife of the late Herbert E. White. Born on December 1, 1928 in San Mateo, CA, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Lelah Buster.
Jean enjoyed gardening, rug hooking and nature. She loved to stay at the cabin in West Virginia that the family built in the 1970's. When her children got older, Jean was able to put her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine she earned from the University of Pennsylvania to work.
Surviving are her five children, James (Stephanie) of Upper Marlboro, Stephen (Onor) of Hayward, CA, Henry Theodore of Poolesville, Mary Ann Clem (Wesley) of Poolesville, John (Karen) of Oakland, CA; five grandchildren, Tabitha, Tiffany, Rachel, Clarissa, Herbie; and one great grandson, Nathan.
The family will be receiving friends on Monday April 1 from 6-8 pm at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd., Barnesville, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday April 2 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Rd., Barnesville.
Interment will follow in Ft. Lincoln cemetery, Brentwood, MD.

George F. Pezdirtz, III

George F. Pezdirtz III, 55, of Gaithersburg, MD went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2013. He was born in South Bend, IN on April 28, 1957 and preceded in death by his mother, Mary Pezdirtz Battcock. He is survived by his father, George F. Pezdirtz, Jr., his beloved wife, Linda, son, Micah, daughter, Lillian Servat and grandson Miguel Servat Jr., as well as his sisters: Kathryn Stokes, Spanda Johnson, Michele Cumming, and Barbara McLendon, and stepmother Catherine and her children, Lincoln and Karen Davis.
George studied computer science at University of Maryland and Biblical Studies at Washington Bible College. For a time he worked in Pest Management. Later he owned and operated his own food services company. More recently he worked in the field of transportation for computer graphics and for handicap transport. George was known for his deep love of family and life. He had a calling to help those in need of encouragement and comfort. His many interests and work reflected his strong spiritual life.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday March 27 from 10 - 11 A.M. at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd., Barnesville, MD.
Funeral services will be held following the visitation at 12 noon at the Cedarbrook Community Church, 23700 Stringtown Road, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Church cemetery, 18230 Barnesville Road, Barnesville, MD.

Tracie L. Fisher

passed away suddenly on March 14. She was the beloved wife of William Fisher; mother of Ashley Escolas (Jamie) and Meagan Hardy; grandmother of Kylie and Andrew; sister of Scott Randles and a host of relatives and friends. The family will be receiving friends on March 20 from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd., Barnesville, MD. Private burial.

Eugene A. Hanlon

On Saturday, March 9, 2013, Gene Hanlon passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family in Clarksburg, MD. For over 46 years, Gene was the beloved husband of Eileen Hanlon, and much-loved father of Patrick Hanlon, Bridget Plitt, Sean Hanlon, and Brian Hanlon. Mr. Hanlon was also a proud grandfather of five; Chloe, Joey, Claire, Katharine, and Jessica Hanlon. Mr. Hanlon was an accomplished artist and published cartoonist. He also taught math, science, and OJT curricula in Montgomery County, MD for over 30 years. While teaching, he also coached numerous state championship track and field teams for Gaithersburg High School. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, artwork, big heart, devotion to God, and his deep and enduring Catholic faith. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church and Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, 18230 Barnesville Road, Barnesville, MD (stmaryonline.com) on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow the mass and graveside blessing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Holy Cross Hospital Hospice (holycrosshealth.org/hospice).

Kevin Staten

Kevin Staten, 50, loving husband, father, friend and musician, passed away on Thursday February 28, 2013. He was born in 1963 in Washington, DC and was the son of the late Dean and Helen M. Staten.
Kevin is survived by his wife Elizabeth A. Staten; sons Michael A. and Benjamin T. Staten; his brother George Staten and his faithful companions, Yim and Jack.
Visitation will be held on Friday March 8, 2013, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., with a time of sharing memories at 7:00 p.m., at the Our Lady of Presentation Catholic Church, 17230 Tom Fox Ave., Poolesville, MD 20837, where funeral services will be held Saturday March 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends starting at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital (www.stjude.org)

Mark C. Hough

Mark C. Hough, 53, of Dickerson, MD died suddenly on Saturday February 23, 2013.
Born on June 1, 1959, in Bethesda, he was the son of Jasper F. and Doris (Warfield) Hough.
Mark will be missed and remembered by his many friends locally, and in the motorcycle racing community. A 1977 graduate of Poolesville High School, Mark was in business for himself for many years before becoming the driver for American Honda Racing. He drove for 8 years to motorcross and supercross races all across the country. He loved every aspect of motorcycling.
Mark was currently employed by Gaithersburg Equipment Company. He also enjoyed restoring his Kenworth tractor / trailer.
Mark was easy going and made friends easily. He got along with everyone and made a positive impression everywhere he went.
Surviving besides his parents is one brother, Mike Hough and wife Eleanor of Adamstown; one sister, Sue Helmick and husband Mike of Jefferson; two nephews, Walter Hough of Adamstown, Zach Helmick of Jefferson; one niece, Amy Cole and husband Tony of Martinsburg, WV; one great niece, Jaden Hough and his uncle, Forest Hough of Dickerson.
Mark was a member of the American Motorcycle Association and the Harley Owners Group.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday March 1 from 5-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, where funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday March 2.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org)

Frances E. Stovicek

Frances E. Stovicek, 27, of Montgomery Village, MD, on February 19, 2013.
The family will be receiving friends on Monday March 4 from 5-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday March 5 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6701 Muncaster Mill Road, Derwood, Maryland 20855.

Jon Thomas Dols

Jon Thomas Dols, 74, of Taneytown, MD, went to be home with the Lord suddenly on February 13, 2012.
He was the husband of Rev. Patricia C. Dols.
Surviving besides his wife are his six children, Kevin Dols (Sharon), Kristine Fessenden (Eric), Michelle Bassani (Bobby), Billie Moynihan, Charlie Klinck, David Klinck (Felicia) and twelve grandchildren, Joseph, Benjamin, Jocelyne, Bobby Jr., Tony, Devon, Dylan, Roger, Christi, Stefan, Aidan, and Danny.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday February 17 from 1-3 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville .
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Monday February 18 at the Memorial United Methodist Church, 17821 Elgin Road, Poolesville, MD.
Interment will take place at 1:30 pm in Emmanuel United Methodist Church cemetery at 10755 Scaggsville Rd., Laurel, MD 20723

Carlton E. Johnson, Sr.

Carlton E. Johnson, Sr., 83, of Comus, died on February 13, 2013 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick.
He was the loving husband of the late Thelma E. Johnson.
Born on November 18, 1929, in Comus, he was the son of the late Ernest and Carrie (Nichols) Johnson.
Surviving are his three sons, Carlton Johnson, Jr. (Bonnie), Kyle Johnson (Debbie), Duane Johnson (Shirley); one sister, Shirley Lawson; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday February 17 from 6-9 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville .
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday February 18 at the Clarksburg United Methodist Church, 23425 Spire Street, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the church in Carlton's name.

William Fred Shupe

William Fred Shupe, 82, of Frederick, formerly of Dickerson, died on February 8, 2013.
He was the loving husband of Margaret Shupe.
Born on September 8, 1930, in Rich Valley, VA, he was the son of the late Jessie and Mattie (Myers) Shupe.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Nina Ostrawski, Debra Short; two stepsons, John and Randall Jones; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Fred was preceded in death by two sons, Tony and Bill Shupe and all of his siblings.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday February 12 from 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 13 at 11 am. A cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made in Fred's name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 (www.cancer.org)

Samuel F. "Pete" Belcher

Samuel F. "Pete" Belcher, 87, of Dickerson, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday February 2, 2013.
He was the husband of the late Alberta Mary "Birdie" (Dodson) Belcher who died in 1965.
Born on July 10, 1925, in Bluefield, VA, he was the son of the late James Walter and Mattie (Neal) Belcher.
Pete was a decorated WWII Veteran, receiving the Purple Heart. He was a lifelong resident of Dickerson and worked for many years with Roberson Plumbing.
Surviving are his children, Wanda Burt of Buckeystown, Samuel J. Belcher of Frederick, Barbara Lee Scott of Frederick, Claude T. Belcher and wife Donna of Dickerson, Jeannye Hungerford of Frederick; one sister, Barbara J. Lamb and husband Carroll of Gettysburg, PA; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Eric, John, Brittany, Lori, Barbara, Billy, Mike, Katie Jo; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pete was preceded in death by three brothers, James H., Donald Lee and Claude Belcher.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday February 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville where funeral services will be held on Thursday February 7 at 11 am.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.
