Russell G. West
Russell G. West, 79, of Poolesville, MD died on Saturday February 2, 2013 at the Heartfield Assisted Living in Frederick, MD.
He was the husband of the late Sharlene Hollandsworth West.
Born on October 19, 1933 in Topeka, Virginia, he was the son of the late Zebrum and Lillie (Leith) West.
Surviving are his two daughters, Kathy Cody and husband Ed of Poolesville, Karen West Williams of Dickerson, MD; two grandsons, Brian and Jason Cody (Tiffany) both of Poolesville;
three sisters, Iva Powell (John), Ruby Burnett (Clayton) both of Danville, VA, Ilene Hooker (Lloyd) of Meadows of Dan, VA.
Russell was preceded in death by one grandson, Kelly O. Williams, III, two sisters, Lydia and June Pratt and two brothers Marvin and Advil West.
Russell was a member of the Independent Order Of Odd Fellows #97 Poolesville Lodge and a member of the Poolesville Memorial United Methodist Church.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday February 5 from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday February 6 at the Poolesville Memorial United Methodist Church, 17821 Elgin Road, Poolesville, MD 20837.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville, MD.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Russell's name to the Poolesville Memorial United Methodist Church, "Memorial Fund".
Charles "Pete" U. Eader
Charles "Pete" U. Eader, 97, of Woodbine, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday January 26, 2013.
He was the husband of the late Ethel L. Eader.
Born on February 17, 1915 in Bucklodge, MD he was the son of the late Archie and Margaret (Gardner) Eader.
Surviving are four children, Charles, Robert and James Eader, Joyce Sexton; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Pete was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Cornett and all twelve of his siblings.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday January 29 from 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt 109), Barnesville where funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday January 30. Pastor Sandra Hamby and Loren Fetty of Lighthouse Ministries in Mt. Airy will officiate the services.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville
William B. Griffith
William B. Griffith (93), a ninth generation Marylander of Beallsville, MD, died December 18, 2011. He was the son of Howard and Elizabeth Perry Griffith. He was married
to Barbara Smith Griffith for 53 years until her death in 2000.
Bill retired from Montgomery County Government in 1976 as chief of Zoning and Licenses and was certified by the Circuit Court as an expert witness on zoning matters .He attended Montgomery Blair High School, Green briar Military Academy in Lewisburg, WV and the University of Maryland and served with the US Army Eighth Air Force in Europe in World War II from 1942-1945.
Mr. Griffith was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Poolesville, MD where he served as Vestryman, Junior Warden, Lector and Sunday School teacher. He served as chief and president of the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department, Beallsville, MD, and as an active fireman and rescue squad member, responded to emergency calls for 57 years. He organized and trained the original rescue squad for the Department.
Bill is survived by his stepson, Russell B. Shetterly and wife, Ann; his daughter, Mary Pat Wilson; his grandchildren Barbara Mowery, Krista Parrott, Michael Shetterly, Joan Loquist, Katherine Longbrake and Laura Cooper; nineteen great-grandchildren and a beloved friend and caring neighbor, Doris Lewis.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Church, 20100 Fisher Avenue, Poolesville, on January 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter's Church, PO Box 387, 20100 Fisher Avenue, Poolesville, MD 20837 or the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department, 19801 Beallsville Road, Beallsville, MD 20839.
Elizabeth "Betty" J. Watkins
Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" J. Watkins, 93, of Poolesville, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 15, 2011.
She was the wife of the late James G. Titus and Wilfred Watkins.
Born on February 28, 1918 in Riner, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Lethia (Massey) Jarels.
Betty managed the school cafeteria for 12 years, prior to owning and operating Titus Tasty Cupboard, a poplar restaurant in Poolesville for 19 years. After selling the restaurant, Betty continued to work at the local bank for 13 years and later at the local dry cleaning store until the age of 85. Volunteer service included multiple church activities and Hospice Caring. Her strong work ethic, abiding faith, love of people, and heart of service will be remembered by the many lives she touched over the years.
Surviving are her two daughters, Jane Hottle (Bob) of North Carolina, Joan Carroll (Bill) of Poolesville; two sisters, Edna Larman and Nancy Wentzel, six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her step-children, John Watkins (Sandy) of Pennsylvania, and step-daughters, Rachel Wivell (Bill) of Emmitsburg, and Debbie Clarke (Bill) of Pennsylvania.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday December 20 from 1-3 and 6-8pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt 109), Barnesville.

Allen M. Beach
Mr. Allen M. Beach, 72, of Boyds, MD died suddenly on Wednesday December 7, 2011.
He was the husband of Diane Hagen Beach.
Surviving besides his wife is one daughter, Kelly Ubiera of Damascus, MD; one brother, Joseph Beach of Damascus; three sisters, Frances Merson of Rockville, MD, Lillie Connell of Seneca, MD and Helen Schwartzbeck of WV and three grandchildren.
Allen was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Frank Joseph Cavasina
Mr. Frank J. Cavasina, 80, of Essex, MD passed away peacefully on Monday December 5th, 2011 at the Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson, MD.
Frank was a District Manager of Cannon Shoe Company for 30+ years. He also was owner and operator of Captain Phillips Bar, a successful establishment on Dundalk Ave.
He also served in the Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954.
He leaves his three children, Kimberly Gregory and husband Roy, Kelly Dabkowski and husband Stanley, and Frank Cavasina, Jr.; four sisters, Carmela (Sis) Thorton, Patricia Noath, Geraldine (Jerry) Reedy and husband Dave, Carolyn Bently and husband Buck; two brothers, James Cavasina, Nicholas Cavasina and wife Fran; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Guy.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday December 19th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (Chapel), 1704 Old Eastern Ave., Baltimore, MD 21221.

Daniel J. Flynn, Jr.
Daniel J. Flynn, Jr., 78, of Poolesville, MD died on May 25, 2013.
He was the loving husband of Dolores Flynn.
Born on November 19, 1934, in Pottsville, PA, he was the son of the late Daniel J. and Eleanor (Patten) Flynn, Sr..
Surviving besides his wife are his children, Martha Robertson and husband Scott, Daniel Flynn and fiancé Lisa Fronczek, Andrew Flynn and wife Sandra, Timothy Flynn; sister, Gertrude Zerbe and grandchildren, Colleen and James Robertson.
Dan served in the United States Navy from 1952-1979.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday May 29 from 5-8 pm at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd., Barnesville, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday May 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Rd., Barnesville, MD.

Edward A. Sokoloski, 69, of Adamstown, MD, died on May 20, 2013.
He was the loving husband of Susan L. Sokoloski.
Born on August 4, 1943 in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Edward and Catherine Sokoloski.
Surviving besides his wife are his two daughters, Carole Tossman and husband Edward, Lisa Sokoloski; two brothers, Joseph Sokoloski, Richard Sokoloski and wife Susan; one sister, Ruth Sokoloski and two grandchildren, Sarah and Amanda Tossman.
