Valerie R. Helfman

Valerie Rose Kilian Helfman, 48, of Dickerson, MD, died on November 21, 2015 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD.
She was the wife of Paul and mother of Nicholas James Kilian.
Born on May 1, 1967, in Papua New Guinea, Valerie was the daughter of Suzanne Elizabeth Kilian and the late Siegfried H. Kilian.
She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Marilyn Fogg, Harry and Walter Kilian and family of Australia, Natasha Heming and family of Virginia, Bessie and Rosemarie Kilian, Siegfried Kilian, Jr. and Louisa Kilian all of Australia.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 6 pm - 8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday December 2, 2015.
A cremation will follow the services.

Vivian I. Moore

Vivian I. Moore, 87, of Blackwater, VA and Brunswick, MD, died on November 10, 2015 at Glade Valley Center.
Born on January 30, 1928 in Jonesville, VA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Allen) Fitts.
Surviving is one daughter, Connie Moore and husband Ralph of Brunswick; two sisters, Louise Dunn, Gladys Cody; one brother, Jack Fitts; grandchildren, Cindy DeFriece, Amy Lyles, Katie Stanton, Jimmy Ward, Jimmy Moore, Sheila Ward, Dale Moore, Linda Kulesza and Stacy Blanchard.
Vivian is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Joan Moore and a special friend, Marlin Bowen.
She was preceded in death by five children, James, Larry and Harold Moore, Mary Ward, Betty Beasley and one grandson, Brian Ward.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, November 12 from 6-8 PM at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD, where funeral services will be held on Friday November 13 at 11 AM.
Interment will follow in Boyds Presbyterian Church cemetery, Boyds, MD.

Vincent A. O'Reilly

Vincent A. O'Reilly, 88, of Middletown, MD, died on Wednesday, March 23, 2016.
He was the loving husband of the late Joan C. O'Reilly. He was the retired Assistant to the President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Born on March 16, 1928 in Evanston, IL, he was the son of the late Francis and Clara (Lowe) O'Reilly.
Surviving is one son, Rev. Kevin P. O'Reilly of Barnesville, MD; one daughter, Kim Balas of Bernardsville, NJ, and three grandchildren, Anthony, Colin and Brendan O'Reilly of Bernardsville, NJ.
Vince was preceded in death by one sister, Kathleen Weissmueller and three brothers, Bro. Edmund O'Reilly, FSC, Rev. Hugh O'Reilly and Cyril O'Reilly.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 30, from 5-8 PM, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Rd., Barnesville, MD, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 31, at 11 AM.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 67, Barnesville, MD 20838 or Holy Family Catholic Church, 7321 Burkittsville Road, Middletown, MD 21769.

Mary L. Hosler

Mary L. Hosler, 87, of Poolesville, MD, passed away on March 10, 2016 at her residence
surrounded by family.
She was the wife of the late William R. Hosler.
Born on August 24, 1928 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Carl S. and Ida M. (Pleuss) Cragoe.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Ruhe, Sally Lee; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Mary was preceded in death by one son, Brad Hosler.
Memorial services celebrating Mary's life will be held at 2 PM on Friday March 18 at the St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 20100 Fisher Ave., Poolesville, MD 20837.

Karl E. Neal

Karl E. Neal, 58, of Damascus, MD, died suddenly on February 29, 2016.
Born on October 24, 1957 in Bethesda, MD, he was the son of the late Jack B. and Christine M. (Mobley) Neal.
Surviving are two sisters, Jackie Anstead and husband Chris of NC, Karen Gilmore of FL; his long-time companion, Franki Sexton of Damascus; extended family, Frankie and Michelle Ennis along with their children Matthew and Amber, Casandra Mullinix and numerous nieces and nephews.
Karl was preceded in death by one sister, Debbie Brown.
A memorial service celebrating Karl's life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday March 5 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD .

Karen M. Payne

Karen M. Payne, 57, of Gaithersburg, MD, passed suddenly on April 3, 2016.
She was the loving wife of Randy Payne.
Born on June 17, 1958 in Anchorage, AK, she was the daughter of Paul Hawkins and the late Virginia M. Hawkins.
Surviving besides her husband and father is one daughter, Virginia M. Roos and one granddaughter, Alexis N. Roos.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday April 8 from 6-8 PM at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD.

Barbara Jean Lewis

Heaven received a very special angel on 29 March 2016, as Barbara Jean Lewis passed on to be with God and Jesus.
Born in Olney, MD on 30 December 1931, she is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Doyle, and four children, Elaine Cuthbertson (and husband Rand), Allen Jr. (and wife Becky), Larry (and wife Teresa), and Gary. Through her loving spirit, the world was also blessed with 5 beautiful grandchildren, and 9 wonderful great grandchildren.
There was never a more loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She blessed her family with a happy, loving home. Saddened by her absence, our spirits are lifted by memories of her soft voice, the twinkle in her eyes, and the deep and endearing love she had for all of us. She will watch over us until we meet again. Our hearts have been broken, but will forever be filled by the memories of her love, which touched each of our lives, and left us, and the world, so much better.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department, 19801 Beallsville Rd., Beallsville, MD 20839 or a charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Ella Mae Wynne

Ella Mae Wynne, 94, formerly of Poolesville, Maryland, passed away quietly on December 11, 2016, at Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick, Maryland. She was the loving wife of the late Edward Buford Wynne, Sr., of Poolesville, Maryland.
Born February 12, 1922, in Bluefield, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Nora Lester. She was a home maker and provided day care service to many children in the town of Poolesville. In later years, Ella Mae worked for First National Bank. She was a life-time member of Poolesville Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of Crafty Ladies and Gents and always helped with apple butter making. In addition, she was a life-time member of the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and of The Rebekah's
Independent Order of Odd Fellows. She was an active participant in many activities at Homewood at Crumland Farms, specifically her work at the Country Store. She enjoyed her 15 years living at Homewood, and particu-larly loved the staff employed there.
She is survived by her three children, Betty Jean Selby of Adamstown, Frances Noffsinger of Newport News, VA, Eddie Wynne and wife Dinah of Adamstown; nine grandchildren, Lin Selby and wife Leslie, Michael Selby and wife Corrine, Bruce Selby and wife Amy, Lisa Selby, Wesley Noffsinger and wife Caroline, Stephen Noffisinger and wife Brandi, David Noffsinger, Jason Wynne and wife Sarah and Natalie Wynne; thirteen great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by nu-merous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sons-in-law, Roy L. Selby Jr., and Martin W. Noffsinger.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, December 15th, from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 16th, at the Poolesville Memorial United Methodist Church, 17821 Elgin Road, Pool-esville, MD. Interment will follow at Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville, MD. The church will host a reception following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Ella Mae Wynne to the Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 358, Poolesville, MD 20837.

Larry Dean Benes

passed away peacefully on December 1, 2016 after
a heroic three year fight with cancer. He is survived by his
beloved wife of 30 years, Stacie; his sisters and brother-in-law Devereaux
Raskauskas, Darcy Bonfils and Jim Bonfils (Andrea). Cherished nieces and nephews Jenn, Joseph and Carolyn Raskauskas, Alexandra and Lindsay Bonfils, Sara Sluhan Baer and John Sluhan. He was preceded in death by his parents Betty and Jerry Benes, his sister, Maryann Benes Sluhan and her husband, Elliott.
Larry lived life to the fullest. He was gracious towards all, the nicest, must fun loving person in any room. He approached everything with vigor and enthusiasm. We will remember him at the Potomac Hunt Races, teaching the kids how to place a bet, on the golf course at Farmington, fishing in the Florida Keys. He was an entrepreneur whose interests were varied and included broadcasting and real estate. Larry's family thanks the doctors, nurses and all caregivers at Hopkins Oncology, Inova Fairfax, Sibley, Suburban and the Washington Home Hospice. They took wonderful care of Larry which he appreciated so much. Special thanks to Larry's wonderful aide, Sam, who took beautiful care of Larry's every need while at home. All are living proof that there are truly angels on earth. There will be a memorial service at a later date.

Meghan Faith Massey

Meghan F. Massey, 32, of Poolesville, died suddenly on November 27, 2016.
Born on October 10, 1984, she was the daughter of Francis Massey and Barbara Faith.
Surviving besides her parents is her sister, Jennifer, her brother, Jason, both of Poolesville and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Meghan graduated from Poolesville High School and Hood College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology.
A Mass celebrating Meghan's life will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Road, Barnesville, MD.
Inurnment will follow.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mary of Nazareth School, WUMCO, or the Montgomery County Humane Society.
