John B. Sharp
DENTON - John B. Sharp, of Denton, died Sunday, May 17, 1998 at the Memorial Hospital of Easton. He was 81.
Born near Starr, he was the son of the late John Byard Sharp and Anna Stewart.
Mr. Sharp was a carpenter and painter with Cannon Wright in Denton and later on his own.
He was a founding member and honorary deacon of the Calvary Baptist Church in Denton.
Mr. Sharp is survived by a daughter, Deborah S. Medford of Federalsburg; a sister, Louise Messix of Cordova and three brothers, R. Gibson Sharp and Howard B. Sharp both of Williston and Kemp Sharp of Grifton, N.C.
A sister, Mary E. Fluharty, and four brothers, James Sharp, George Sharp, Charles Sharp and Paul Sharp, are deceased.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, May 20 at 11 a.m. at Moore Funeral Home, Denton
Interment was in Concord cemetery
in Denton.

Clara P. Coleman
EASTON - Clara Prettyman Coleman of Easton died Thursday, May 14, 1998 at Memorial Hospital, Easton. She was 97.
Born in Preston on Nov. 23, 1900, she was the daughter of the late Wesley William and Emma Sigman Prettyman.
After attending a one-room school in Caroline County, she married
William Henry Coleman in 1918. They made their home in Talbot County where from 1928 until 1946 she was a school bus contractor, the first woman in Talbot County to receive such a contract. From 1942 to 1973, she was an officer in the W. H. Coleman and Son excavating contractors business. She was a partner with her son in Betty's Garden Farm, Easton.
A charter member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Easton and the Ruth's Circle of the church, she was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Talbot Rod and Gun Club and had been active in the fund-raising work for Bethany House Inc.
Her husband died in June 1984.
Mrs. Coleman is survived by a son, W. Robert Coleman of Easton; a daughter, Emmalean C. Rebmann of Easton; and a brother, William A. Prettyman of Easton.
Services were held at the graveside in Spring Hill cemetery, Easton, on Monday, May 18, at 2 p.m.

Dona H. M. Culver
BRIDGEVILLE, Del. - Dona Helen Mae Culver of Bridgeville died Sunday, May 17, 1998 at her home of cancer. She was 55.
Born May 28, 1942 in Bridgeville, she was the daughter of the late Edward C. and Pearl Brown Adams.
She graduated from Bridgeville High School and had worked for the state of Delaware's Department of Social Services in Georgetown for 20 years until October 1997.
She was a member of the Seaford Wesleyan Church, Seaford, Del.
In addition to her husband, Samuel B. Culver, whom she married
on Oct. 14, 1960, she is survived by two sons, Samuel J. Culver and Edward Jake Culver, all of Bridgeville; a half-brother, Lawrence Wallace of Bridgeville, Del. six grandsons; and one granddaughter.
Services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 20 at Williamson Funeral Home, Federalsburg. Burial was in Bloomery cemetery, Federalsburg.

Maria L. Jelich
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Maria L. Jelich of New Britian died on Sunday, May 17, 1998 at her home. She was 75.
Mrs. Jelich is survived by her two sons, John R. Jelich of New Hampshire and John M. Jelich of Trappe; and four grandsons.
Services were held at St. Anne's Church in New Britain. Burial was in Oxford, Md.

Mary A. Mushaw
ANNAPOLIS - Mary A. Mushaw died Monday, May 18, 1998 at Genesis Elder Care at Spa Creek, Annapolis. She was 81.
Born in Talbot County, she was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Easton and Talbot County. She moved to Annapolis in 1996 and lived at Colonial Manor Homes at Bay Ridge.
Her husband, Alfonso Mushaw, died in 1987.
Mrs. Mushaw is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Adams and a sister, Betty Dulin, both of Annapolis.
Services were held on Wednesday, May 20 at 1 p.m. at John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Annapolis. Burial was at 3 p.m. at Spring Hill cemetery, Easton.

William L. Baxter
ROMANCOKE - William Louis "Dubie" Baxter of Romancoke died Thursday, May 7, 1998.
He was a resident of Heartland House in Grasonville during the last year. He served in the Navy during World War II and served the people of Prince George's County as the deputy assessor of Real Estate Assessment for 35 years for the state of Maryland.
He was a member of the Romancoke Association, Kent Island American Legion, Kent Island Yacht Club and the Kent Island Elks Club. He belonged to the Suburban Lions Club of Prince George's County and the Young Men's Democratic Club. He was a member of the International Association of Assessing Officers and a member of Saint Christophers Church in Chester.
Mr. Baxter is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dolores E. Baxter; two sons, William F. Baxter of Upper Marlboro and Kenneth L. Baxter of Bowie; a daughter, Karen J. Pavlik of Bowie; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bowie, on Tuesday, May 12. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Catherine B. Cantrell
CENTREVILLE - Catherine B. Cantrell of Centreville died on Monday, May 18, 1998 at Memorial Hospital, Easton. She was 82.
Born Aug. 20, 1915 at Carmichael, she was the daughter of the late C. Tilghman and Ethel Bartlett Bishop.
She graduated from Centreville High School, Class of 1931; received her B.S. from Johns Hopkins University in 1935; and M.A. from George Washington University in 1939. She taught junior, senior and vocational high schools in Harford County and Washington, D.C. from 1935 - 1950.
She started with the Riggs National Bank of Washington, D.C. in the stenographic pool in September 1950 on a full-time basis. She was elected an assistant cashier in 1963; appointed assistant secretary of the board in 1968, elected assistant vice president in 1970, and a vice president in 1975, retiring in 1976 as vice president of Riggs National Bank. She returned to live in Centreville upon her retirement.
She married
Lawson J. Cantrell in May 1963. He died in March 1973.
Outside activities included: The Bank Women's Club; Capital Group; National Association of Bank Women; The Zonta Club of Bethesda-Silver Spring; member and recording secretary to the Administrative Board of Chevy Chase United Methodist Church and held memberships in the Corcoran Gallery of Art & Metropolitan Washington Board Of Trade; member and past president of the Women's Club of Centreville; secretary, Centreville High School Alumni Association; member, Queen Anne's County Senior Housing Association; president, Queen Anne's County Primary Health Care, Inc. since its organization in May 1978; served as a member of Queen Anne's County Health Planning Committee, 1977 - 1979; instrumental as president of Queen Anne's County Primary Health Care, Inc. in the establishment of the Queen Anne's Medical Center at Queenstown; member of Health Planning Council of the Eastern Shore and of its Plan Development and Executive committees, 1977 - 1979.
She was a life member of Queen Anne's County Historical Society and The James Smithson Society of the Smithsonian Institution. Mrs. Cantrell was a lifelong member of Wye of Carmichael United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Cantrell is survived by a stepson, Lawson J. Cantrell Jr. of Accomac, Va.; a sister, Miriam Bishop Dean of Centreville; a sister-in-law, Helen H. Bishop of Queenstown; four step-grandchildren, Lucy Sanford Cantrell of Ashland, Va., L. James Cantrell III of Warrenton, Va., Mary Lewis Tellez of York, Pa., Susan Tennessee Cantrell of Ashland, Va.; three nephews, Charles T. Rittenhouse of Vallejo, Calif., Charles T. "Tim" Bishop of Queenstown, David B. Bishop of Easton; three nieces, Bonnie Dean Roschy of Centreville, Katheryn S. Bishop of Easton, E. Ann Bishop of Easton; and eight great-grandchildren.
A sister, Mildred Bishop of Rittenhouse; two brothers, Virgil Bartlett Bishop and J. Tilghman Bishop, are deceased.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 22 at the Wye of Carmichael United Methodist Church, Queenstown. Burial was at Chesterfield cemetery, Centreville.
