Charles Michael Wheeler, Jr.

Charles Michael “Charlie” Wheeler, Jr., 27, of Lusby, MD died on June 3, 2005 in St. Inigoes, MD.

Born on September 3, 1977, in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of Charles Michael Wheeler and Jeanette Arlene Redman Wheeler.

He grew up in Great Mills Maryland and attended Great Mills High School.

He was a precocious youth that loved to go fishing and crabbing with his mother, father, and brother.

Charlie was baptized and confirmed at Holy Face Church and spent much of his youth there.

He was the lead altar server for several years while under the direction of Fr. John Myslinski and was affectionately known as ‘Brad Pitt’.

Charlie played the role of Jesus in the 8th grade Passion play and brought down the house, literally, when the cross on which he was hung dislodged and bumped him on the head.

A resounding ‘bonk’ was heard followed by hysterical laughter amongst the other cast members.

It was the most memorable passion play ever.

Charlie loved the water and could be found fishing anytime he got the chance.

He was often seen (and sometimes caught) fishing from the top of the St. Georges Island Bridge.

Though it was illegal to do so he simply HAD to fish there because that’s where the best rockfish could be caught.

Charlie was a hard worker and had a knack for anything mechanical.

He loved to make things and the more tools it took to make, the more he liked the task.

He was an accomplished craftsman and spent several years building houses in Easton MD.

He took pride in his work and you could be sure that when Charlie completed a particular part of the house it was done to perfection.

Charlie could often be found fixing things and working on projects around his mothers house.

It didn’t matter whether the task was big or small; he set to work with the same zeal.

Recently Charlie worked for BAE systems as a production operator.

He worked at several different sites which included California MD, St. Inigoes MD, and Camp David.

He was clever and very witty and was always good for a quick come-back just when you thought you got the better of him.

Charlie was a friend to everyone he met and loved his family with all his heart.

His family and friends will miss him terribly but are comforted by the fact that their son, brother, and friend is at rest with God.

He is survived by his mother Jeanette Wheeler of Lusby, father Charles ‘Mike’ Wheeler of Dameron, brother Jonathan Wheeler of Lusby, grandmothers Frances Redman of Lusby and Elaine Wheeler of Callaway, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family received friends on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 from 5; 00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A prayer service was held on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 7; 00 p.m. with Reverend Joe Sileo officiating.

Inurnment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made in Charlie’s name and mailed to Holy Face Youth Ministry, P. O. Box 106, Great Mills, MD 20634.

Funeral arrangements were provided by the Brinsfield Funeral Home in Leonardtown, MD.
