Reher; sister of Nora Wallace, Charles and Edward Richardson. Also survived by five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Baker. DENBY S. ZIMMERMAN
passed away peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2012, two weeks after her 90th birthday. Beloved wife of the late Daniel D. Zimmerman; mother of Bree Fary (Tom), D. David Zimmerman, II (Melanie), and Roxanne Fus (Robert); grandmother of Amanda Fary, Danielle Fus, Daniel D. Zimmerman, III, Rachel Fus, Jesse Lim, Kathryn Zimmerman and the late Michelle Ringo; sister of Hugh Smith, Jr. of California, Caroline Kuempel of Texas, and the late Elaine Crawford, CE. Smith and James Booth Smith. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren. She was born June 24, 1922 in Ridgeland, SC. She was a proud alumna of Winthrop College. A teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools for many years, she retired from Robert E. Peary High School. Graveside Service and Inurnment at Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD, on Wednesday, July 18, at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to The East Iredell Lion’s Club, 336 River Hill Road, Statesville, NC 28625.

PAUL A. McDONALD
On Thursday, July 12, 2012 of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Helen Waters McDonald; father of Steve (Vieve) McDonald, Martha (George) Quinn, Susanne (Gregg) Fitzpatrick, Sean (Cheryl) McDonald; grandfather of Travis (Sarah), Caitlin, Katy, Michael, Austin, Colleen, Daniel, and Ashlyn; brother of the late Joseph McDonald and Mary Margaret Stanko. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD (Valet Parking) Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and at Our Lady of Grace Church, 15661 Norbeck Boulevard, Silver Spring, MD on Tuesday at 10:30 am with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven cemetery.

MARTHA McMANUS KAPPEL
Martha McManus Kappel, 89, daughter of Joseph and Margaret Dunn McManus, passed away peacefully from heart failure on July 11, 2012 in Stuart, FL. Martha spent her earliest years in Ticonderoga, NY and then moved to suburban Boston where she attended the Burr School in Auburndale and graduated from Newton High in Newton. Due to the war she went immediately to work. Through hard work and discipline she ultimately became Director of Shipper Relations for the Association of American Railroads in Washington DC. She was the only woman, and one of approximately 70 men who applied for this position. When offered it, to their astonishment, she said she needed to think about it and would get back with them the following Monday, which she did. Martha was on twelve boards during this time and was well known throughout the industry as she worked with shippers all over the country. She retired in 1990 at the age of 67. It was in January 1976 she married the love of her life, Herman P. Kappel, and tragically he died of a sudden heart attack only five months later. In retirement Martha was an avid golfer, loved playing cards, particularly bridge, traveling and entertaining family and friends at her homes in Boca Raton, FL and Dennisport, MA on Cape Cod. Her quick wit remained with her for her entire life. Martha was predeceased by, in addition to her parents and her husband, her sister, Mary Louise Kaufman. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving brother, John L. McManus of Green Tree, PA, nieces Gretchen Liuzzi and her husband Don of Jenkintown, PA and Marilyn Bevington of Los Angeles, CA, nephew Mike McManus and his wife Tuanne of San Diego, CA, grand nieces Ana and Cara Liuzzi of Jenkintown, PA, grand niece and godchild Kelly Sanders of New York City, NY, second cousin Jim Farrell and his wife Edmea of Delray Beach, FL, second cousin and her care managers Chris Farrell and his wife Kate of Stuart, FL in addition to many loving friends. A Catholic mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17 at The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Washington DC. A short service at the grave will follow directly afterward at the Gate of Heaven cemetery in Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, Martha would appreciate donations in her honor be made to either The American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

NATALIE P. KESLOSKY

Beloved wife of the late Nicholas Keslosky; mother of William (Marina) Keslosky and Maryanne Roach; grandmother of Andrew Keslosky; step grandmother of Cynthia (Paul) McCauley; great-grandmother of Luke, Olivia, and Ava McCauley. MARGARET KEENEY MAGNER (Age 94)
passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Holy Cross Hospital. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Warren J. Magner. Margaret, often called “Peg”, worked as a Financial Analyst for the Department of the Navy for 18 years. She stopped work to raise her children and then worked as an Avon Rep for 32 years. She was the mother of Lynellen and Joseph D. Magner; grandmother of Jason D., Warren J. II, and Heather Rose Magner; great-grandmother of Mariyah Magner and Warren J. Magner, III. BARBARA LEE COSTELLO “Bobbie”
On Saturday, June 30, 2012, of Silver Spring (Leisure World), formerly of Frederick, MD. Beloved wife of the late James A. Costello; mother of James D. Costello, Sharon M. Nicholson and Kevin M. Costello. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. DENISE BERNIER (Age 107)
On Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Bedford Court Assisted Living Facility in Silver Spring, MD. She was born to Alberto DiGoristiaga and Georgia Peterstronisse on February 5, 1905 in Monaco. Denise married the late Conrad Bernier in Paris, France in 1928. The couple moved to Washington, DC, where she has resided since. She dedicated her life to teaching French and Spanish, both her native languages, at Holton Arms School and Immaculata College. Denise is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jacques and Simone Bernier of Fort Myers, FL and Claude and Dorothy Bernier of Bethany Beach, DE; eight grandchildren, Danielle Schmidt, Marc Bernier, Philippe Bernier, Denise Putman, Paul Bernier, Carolyn Bernier, Michael Bernier and David Bernier; and ten great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Sisters of Providence, 1 Sisters of Providence Road, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, IN, 47876, www.spsmw.org.
