On Monday, June 18, 2012, of Naples, FL formerly of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved wife of the late Francis J. “Hap” Wiener; mother of Joseph (Medda) Moss. Loving aunt of Bonnie Estes Bowman and survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her siblings Powell Trexler, Samuel “Kiki” Trexler, Irma Trexler Estes, Miriam Trexler Ross, and Benjamin “Wally” Trexler. Milllie an enthusiastic and lifelong baseball fan played amateur softball and played in the National Championships at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL. She had a long career as an executive secretary in the federal government with H.E.W or H.H.S as well as 2 years with the CIA and volunteered in retirement most notably in the White House office of the First Lady during the Clinton Administration. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, Thursday, July 5, 10 to 11 a.m., where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment Arlington National cemetery at 2 p.m. (please meet at the Administration Building at 1:30 p.m.). In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to your local SPCA, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

On Tuesday, June 26, 2012, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved son of the late Helen Stathes and Speros Versis; brother of Anthony (Jeanne) Versis. Uncle of Stephen and Anthony S. Versis, Jr. Also survived by many cousins. MAXINE LANNON
On Monday, June 25, 2012, of Washington, DC. Beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Lannon; mother of Michael Lannon, Mary Violette, Stephen Lannon, Catherine Drury, Thomas Lannon, Teresa Lannon, Margaret Lannon and the late Patrick and John Lannon; sister of Pat Maxcy. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by one grandson, Ryan. On Saturday, June 23, 2012, of Canton, GA, formerly of Langley Park, MD. Beloved husband of Catherine (nee Sullivan) Rodriguez; father of Cecelia (Ronald) Ball, Raymond, Donald (Debbie), Gerard (Alina) and the late Joseph Rodriguez; grandfather of Christine (James) Ivey, Kellie (John) Saragusa, Jessica (Michael) Duplantis, Nicholas, Heather, Robert, Rachel, Derek (Ashley), Drew and the late Natalie Rodriguez; great-grandfather of Christian and Joseph Saragusa, Alexis and Mia Duplantis, Nathan and Jackson Ivey; brother of Catherine Dean and the late William, Fred and Raymond Rodriguez. ALFRED THOMAS POWELL, SR. (Age 81)
On Sunday, June 24, 2012 of Summerville, SC and formerly of Wheaton, MD. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Sue Deakle Powell, mother of their nine children and Doris Varner Powell; son of the late Ovid Elliot and Bertha Ellen Tillinghast Powell; father of Alfred Thomas Jr., Jack G., Duane F., Robert P. Powell, Helen Ann O’Doherty, Rose Marie Chambers, Marty Lynn Charlton, Sue Ellen Mello, and Mary Grace Marcussen; brother of Elton L. Powell; also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; he was predeceased by three sisters and one granddaughter. Mr. Powell was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, retiring from the US Navy as a Senior Chief Fire Control Technican. In his civilian life he retired as an Engineer Scientist from Vitro Labs. Graveside service and interment will be held at Gate of Heaven cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 2 p.m.

JOHN FRANCIS NOLAN (Age 74)
On Monday, June 25, 2012, of Rockville, MD. Beloved husband of Paula T. Nolan; father of Mary P. Sharer, Teresa A. Habina, Catherine M. Nolan, John P. Nolan and Colleen M. Kelly; grandfather of Kelly, Katelyn, Brayden, Dominic, Matthew, Connor and Kelsey; brother of Catherine Glancy and Marie Searles. ALICE RAO LASSITER
On Sunday, June 24, 2012, surrounded by her family, of Olney, MD. Beloved wife of 40 years to David Lassiter; mother of Christine (Evan) Nowack and Celeste (Evan) Henry; grandmother of Juliet, Scarlett, Graham, and Jack. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1946 to Joseph and Celestina Rao; she was raised in Yonkers and Syosset NY. She received her BA from Fordham University, and Master’s degrees from both Boston College and UMBC. In 1970 she moved to DC and worked for the Peace Corps as a Special Services Officer in the 70's, was a real estate agent in the 80's and an ESOL elementary school teacher in Montgomery County for the past 15 years. She retired in 2011. She is loved and will be missed by the many she touched. On Saturday, June 23, 2012 of Silver Spring, MD, formerly of Takoma Park, MD. Beloved wife of the late James F. Holland; mother of James F. (Diane) Holland, II, Michael P. (Amy) Holland, M. Elaine (Paul) Vining, Kelly H. (Jim) Weisgerber, and Christopher J. (Diane) Holland; sister of Mary Elaine Bartelmes; also survived by 13 grandchildren. RALPH ANTHONY PURVIS, SR. (Age 89)
32nd Degree Mason Lodge 198 and a Shriner. Born on September 19, 1923 in Georgia, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2012, of Gaithersburg, MD. Beloved husband for 65 years of Jewel Purvis; father of Donnette (Ken) Campbell, Ralph Purvis, Jr., and Joseph Purvis, Sr.; grandfather of Kenny (Kim) Campbell, Kimberly Campbell Lubore, Regina (Evan) O’Rourke, Jason Purvis and Joey (Lindsey) Purvis. Also survived by nine great grandchildren and other loving family and friends. MILDRED J. SELJOS
Of Wheaton, MD, on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, of lung cancer. Born September 19, 1929, in Earving, MA, to Charles J. and Mildred M. Frawley. She was a graduate of the College of Our Lady of the Elms (1950) and the US Naval Postgraduate School. After 14 years in the Navy working in mathematical meteorology and atmospheric modeling and achieving the rank of LCDR, she left the service to marry and adopt two sons. She volunteered with So Others Might Eat in Washington, D.C., and with the American Red Cross at the Naval Hospital at Bethesda. She was the wife of the late Lloyd T. Seljos (2010) and is survived by her sons, Charles (Amanda) of Silver Spring, MD, and James (Sonia) of Bailey, CO. Friends may call at St. John the Evangelist Church, 10103 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD, on Wednesday, June 27, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, where Mass of Christian Burial will follow. Corbley; grandmother of Erica Levey Esteve, Daniel and Suzanna Levey, Monica Splain, Patrick and Ryan Corbley and the late Jane Levey; sister of Fr. Joseph J. Kleinstuber.
