M. Russell Milligan
HURLOCK - M. Russell Milligan of Hurlock died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at his home. He was 59.
Born Dec. 5, 1939, at Hurlock, he was the son of the late Mabel Alice Seeders and Norman E. Milligan Sr.
A graduate of North Dorchester High School, Mr. Milligan served in Germany in the U.S. Army, where he was a heavy equipment operator. He then was employed as a computer operator technician with Bell Atlantic for 29 years, retiring Feb. 17, 1999.
Mr. Milligan is survived by his wife, Doris M. Sheffield Milligan; his stepmother, Bessie Milligan of Seaford; one daughter, Sherry Ann Travis of Glenville, Pa.; two sons, Robert Alan Milligan of Glen Burnie and Nicholas Hutchinson of Baltimore; two stepsons, William F. Allen Jr. and Stewart Francis Allen, both of Hurlock; a sister, Margaret White of Delmar, Del.; three brothers, Norman Milligan Jr. of Pasadena, William Milligan of Savannah Ga. and Charles Milligan of Annapolis; and two grandchildren.
Services were held at 1 pm., Tuesday Oct. 19, at Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, Federalsburg. Burial was at Unity Washington cemetery, Hurlock.
Friends called at the funeral home on Monday from 7 until 9 p.m, and on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Walter E. Barnett
EASTON - Walter Edgar Barnett of Bellevue died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Easton. He was 89.
Born May 7, 1910, at Royal Oak, he was the son of Bertha Barnett Larkin and Edward Barnett.
He attended public schools in Talbot County, and had been employed as a butler and chauffeur for the Harrington estate in Talbot County.
Mr. Barnett attended St. Luke Church in Bellevue and Adult Day Care.
His wife of 42 years, Theola E. Barnett died in 1992.
Mr. Barnett is survived by a sister, Edna Robinson of Baltimore, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held Saturday, Oct. 9, at St. Luke Church, Bellevue. Burial was at Richards cemetery, Easton.
Arrangements were by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Easton.

Amanda L. McGinnes
CHESTERTOWN - Amanda Lee McGinnes of Chestertown died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at her home. She was 17.
Born Feb. 7, 1928 at Roberts Station, near Church Hill, she was the daughter of the late Medford and Louise Altvater Coursey.
After graduating from Church Hill High School, she attended Goldey Beacom Business College. In 1946, she married Ralph W. McGinnes. Mrs. McGinnes was employed by Queen Anne's County as a secretary for the Trial Magistrate and Planning and Zoning. In 1965, she and her husband moved to Deep Landing and in 1983, she retired from county employment.
She had been an active member of Chestertown Baptist Church for nearly 20 years.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. McGinnes is survived by a son, Mac McGinnes of Church Hill, and two grandchildren, Anne Louise McGinnes of Rock Hall and Rebecca "Cissy" McGinnes of Church Hill.
Services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 18, at Chestertown Baptist Church. Burial was at Crumpton cemetery. Friends called at the church one hour before the service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Queen Anne's County, 300 Del Rhodes Avenue, Queenstown, Md. 21658.
Arrangements are by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Chestertown.

James R. Lohr
ROCK HALL - James R. "Bob" Lohr of Rock Hall died of heart failure at his home. He was 67.
Born March 27, 1932, at Snow Shoe, Pa., he was the son of the late John J. and Velda Casher Lohr.
He was raised in Pennsylvania. In 1950 he entered the U.S. Army, and was discharged in 1956 with the rank of sergeant..
In 1956, he married the former Elizabeth Edwards. They moved to Chestertown and later to Rock Hall. He had been employed by the Cooper Field Farms in Kennedyville, and later worked as caretaker for St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chestertown. He also was a sexton for St. Pauls cemetery for several years.
In addition to his wife of 44 years, Mr. Lohr is survived by three daughters, Catherine Daggett of Betterton, and Shirley Nicholson and Donna Austin, both of Chestertown; a son, J. Robert Lohr of Winchester, Va.; two brothers, Fred Lohr of Centrehall, Pa. and Clarence Lohr of Millsburg, Pa.; three sisters, Mary Thompson of Howard , Pa., Eddie Whitehall of Aaronsburg, Pa. and Marge Carlstrom of Pinole, Calif.; and nine grandchildren. A daughter, Melodie Blackiston died in 1986.
Services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newman Funeral Home, Rock Hall. Burial was at St. Paul's cemetery, Chestertown. Friends called at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 until 9 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Robert and Katie Blackiston Educational Fund, People's Bank, P.O. Box 96, Rock Hall, Md. 21661, or to Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 577, Rock Hall, Md. 21661.

Woodrow W. Dickerson
DENTON - Woodrow W. Dickerson of Hurlock, a retired poultry farmer, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 87.
Born at Harrington, Del., he was the son of the late Bethuel Watson Dickerson and Bertha Mae Truitt Dickerson Bingham. His wife, Rachel Irene Kennedy Dickerson died Feb. 1, 1988.
He was a poultry farmer in Hynson for 56 years, retiring in 1996.
Mr. Dickerson is survived by two daughters, Margaret A. Griffith of Denton and Doris Baker of Falls Church, Va.; a sister, Evelyn Swain of Bridgeville, Del.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Deceased are three sons, William Edward Dickerson, Robert Thomas Dickerson and William Paul Dickerson, one daughter, Alice Jane Ellingsworth; a sister, Helen Wyatt, and two grandchildren.
Services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Moore Funeral Home, Denton, where friends called one hour before the service. Burial was at Hillcrest cemetery, Federalsburg.
Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 2233, Salisbury, Md. 21802-2233.

Betty B. Smith
EASTON - Betty Brogley Smith of Easton died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at The Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was 68.
Born June 30, 1931, at Greensboro, she was the daughter of the late James August and Mildred Harris Brogley.
She attended schools in Caroline and Talbot counties. In December 1948, she married Glenn A. Smith. They made their home in Easton, where she worked as a clerk for Cherry's Department Store. She remained at that store until retiring in 1972 as manager, a position she had held for several years. She later was a salesperson for R.M.I. Associates in candy sales on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and in Delaware, retiring from the company in the early 1980s.
A resident of Easton for most of her life, she was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, the Hyde Park Club and the Women of the Moose, Easton Chapter No. 1250, where she was a past Senior Regent.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Glenda S. Windsor of Easton and Patricia S. Mills of Stevensville; three sisters, Shirley B. Storey and Anna May Lawson, both of Easton and Jean B. Unsworth of Preston; two brothers, James F. Brogley of Easton and Allen L. Brogley of Newark, Del.; and four grandsons, Christopher M. Windsor, Chad E. Windsor, Ryan M. Mills and Jayson G. Mills. A brother, John E. "Jack" Brogley died in 1991, and a grandson, Brian K. Windsor died in 1972.
Services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Easton. Burial was at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Friends called on Tuesday, from 7 until 9 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Easton, and at the church one hour before the service on Wednesday. A Ladies of the Moose memorial service was held at the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Memorial donations may be made to the Takayasu Arteritis Foundation International, 1500 Meeting House Road, Sea Girt, N.J. 08750, or to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 100 Peachblossom Road, Easton, Md. 21601.

J. Elwood Murphy
YORK, Pa. - James Elwood Murphy of York, Pa., formerly of Easton, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Manor Care North Convalescent Home, Manchester Township, Pa. He was 88.
Born Sept. 29, 1999, at Federalsburg, he was the son of the late Oliver Clayton and Alice Noble Murphy. As a child, he moved with his family to Easton where he graduated from Easton High School in 1929. For several years, he owned and operated Murphy's Dry Cleaning in Easton. During the early 1950s, Mr. Murphy entered the sales field and worked in paper products sales until retiring in the mid-1970s. He moved to York, Pa. in 1994.
He had been a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Easton.
His wife, the former Catherine L. Hubbard, to whom he was married in 1932, died in February 1990.
Mr. Murphy is survived by a daughter, Alice C. Frey of York, Pa.; one son, James O. Murphy of Cambridge; one brother, Charles Murphy of Waukon, Iowa; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Easton. Friends called at the funeral home one hour before the service. Burial was at Spring Hill cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 100 Peachblossom Road, Easton, Md. 21601.
