James Cassidy, 48

LUDLOW, VERMONT - James (Jim) M. Cassidy, 48, of Rutland Town died unexpectedly, May 21st, 2004.

Jim will be sorely missed by every life he touched. He was a man of deep love for his family, Anastasia (LaFlam) his wife, and two sons Ryan and Kyle. Jim was a child at heart. He loved to play basketball and baseball with his boys. Jim adored his family and was a devoted, loving family man. He is remembered as always attending his sons' sporting events, coaching their sports teams, and encouraging their intellectual and moral growth. Jim was very proud of his sons' accomplishments and his wife's successes.

He loved being outside anytime, anywhere. In the early part of his life Jim did much travelling, at times hitchhiking with his dog across the country. Jim met his soul mate and best friend, Anastasia, on the rocky coast of Maine. Together, they spent many years in pursuit of the ideal ski conditions, all the while laughing and enjoying life. Jim and Anastasia were an inseparable couple and were married on November 6, 1983.

Together they settled in Rutland to raise their children and be closer to their families. He loved beautiful landscapes and the picturesque mountains, all of which led him to Hawk Mountain, where he was able to work in a field that combined his love of the outdoors and his ability to work with people to achieve a common goal. After working there for many years he decided to open his own landscaping and property management business. Jim was known to work incredibly long days and weeks resulting in an awesome tan.

Jim's love for his family was unrivalled but his love for his dogs was a close second. He had the most amazing relationships with Kelley, Ginger, Trace, and Megan. These golden retrievers were the daughters he never had. Jim spoiled them and gave them incredible adventures; from skiing Tuckerman's Ravine to keeping him company as they went to work every day.

There are so many ways to describe the amazing imprints Jim left behind. He was loyal and loving foremost, and he was so easy to talk to and laugh with. Jim enjoyed a good joke, especially when Anastasia was involved. Jim was a gentle, caring soul that loved all who were around him. But more importantly, he loved good cooking and was usually found in the kitchen cleaning up the chaos left behind by his creative wife, though he always said it was worth it. He was especially fond of Anastasia's home cooking, his mom's chocolate chip cookies, a good chocolate cake, chips, salsa, and a cold beer, oh.... And let us not forget his love of Ben and Jerry's vanilla ice cream.

Jim leaves us with so many memories. He is survived by his loving and adoring wife of 20 years - Anastasia, and his sons Ryan (18) and Kyle (14), his mother, Jane Cassidy, and his sister, Laura Padlock. Jim also leaves behind a large extended family that includes the Tobin's, Laflam's and the Vinci's, and many many friends. He lives in all of us and let us walk every day with a piece of him in our hearts and minds.

A celebration of his life was held at the Wyndmere House, 28 Park Street in Brandon, Vermont, on Wednesday, May 26th at 3:00 p.m. Donations may be made to James Cassidy Family Memorial Fund. Jim's ashes will be scattered over the Kennebunk River in Kennebunkport, Maine at a later time.
