Eva Cavaretta

LEXINGTON, Mass. - Eva C. Cavaretta, 86, of Lexington, Mass. died August 10, 2004. She was the wife of Alfred S. Cavaretta for 61 years.

Born in Lexington on April 4, 1918, the third daughter of Caroline and Joseph Tropeano, she lived in Lexington all of her life. She graduated from Lexington High School and Bryant and Straton College. A lifelong member of St. Brigid's parish, she volunteered her time to various area organizations. She enjoyed her membership in the Lexington Garden Club and its Morning Study Group.

Other memberships included the League of Women Voters and the Lexington Historical Society. She was an avid traveler, bridge player, and self-taught historian and naturalist. In addition to her husband, she is survived by Alfred S. Cavaretta Jr. of Kent, Ohio, Karen F. Napoli and her husband Richard of Acton, Philip C. Cavaretta of Ogunquit, John M. Cavaretta and his partner Randal Coulton of Wells, and the late Frances E. Olivas. She is also survived by six grandchildren; one sister, Edith P. Petterson of Lexington, one brother, Philip Tropeano of Beverly; and many nieces and nephews.

Barrington Boardman

KENNEBUNKPORT - Barrington Boardman of Kennebunkport, died Sept. 27, 2004 after a brief illness.

Before settling in Kennebunkport, he lived in Greenwich, Conn. and Beaufort, S.C.

Born May, 31, 1933 in Fairfield, Conn., he was the son of the late Virginia and Bradford Boardman. He graduated from the Kent School and Yale University.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra (Dixon McDonnell) Boardman; one daughter, Brooke Boardman of Blairgowrie, Scotland; three stepchildren, Sean McDonnell Jr. of Cambridge, Mass., Mela McDonnell Stewart of Concord, N.H., and Lee McDonnell Lytle of North Andover, Mass; eight grandchildren; and one brother, William Boardman of San Diego, Calif.

His business career focused on advertising. In 1960, he joined Ted Bates & Co., a New York City firm, and ultimately became senior vice president. In 1970, he co-founded and served as chairman of Northcastle Partners, a New England advertising company based in Stamford, Conn., and Boston, Mass.

A lifelong bibliophile and noted wordsmith, he wrote "From Harding to Hiroshima" in 1988. This witty collection of historical anecdotes, trivia and facts illustrating life in the United States from 1923 to 1945 was subsequently published as "Flappers, Bootleggers, Typhoid Mary and The Bomb." From 1991 to 1995, he was editor and publisher of News from the South, a newsletter directed to Northerners interested in owning a retirement or second home in the South.

He was a member of the Roundhill Club in Greenwich, Conn., and served as its president from 1978 to 1980.

Additionally, he was a member of the Field Club in Greenwich, Conn., where he was an active tennis player. He was also a member of the Kennebunk River Club, the Cape Arundel Golf Club, and the Arundel Beach Club, all of Kennebunkport.

Graveside services will be held today at noon at the Arundel Cemetery, North Street, Kennebunkport. Friends are welcome.

Edward Dean Jr.

KENNEBUNK - Edward B. Dean Jr., 65, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Kennebunk, Maine, died in Englewood, Fla. on Aug. 2, 2004.

He was the son of the late Edward and Lillian (Aspden) Dean. He leaves two daughters, Diane Day and Barbara Rogerson; one granddaughter, Bailey Day; one sister, Donna Kitchen; one niece; and one nephew.

He was a graduate of Bradford Durfee College of Technology and was an electrical engineer in the Washington, D.C. and New Jersey areas before moving to Maine and starting his own construction business.

There was a memorial service held on Saturday Aug. 28 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 315 Warren Street, Fall River, MA, 02721.

Donations in his memory may be sent to the church.

Edna ParŽ

WELLS - Edna May (Leach) ParŽ, 89, of Wells, , died Sept. 27, 2004.

She was born Feb. 27, 1915, in Enosburg Falls, Vt., a daughter of the late Carroll Rice Leach Sr. and the late Ruth Agnes Wright. She graduated from

Enosburg Falls High School, earned a bachelor in education from the University of Vermont, taught for five years at Hartford High School in White

River Junction, Vt., and then completed requirements at Northwestern University for a certificate in Physical Therapy. During World War II, she worked as a physical therapist at Fort Dix, N.J., and then for several years in the same capacity at Manhattan General Hospital and New York Orthopedic Hospital. She moved to Maine in 1947, and later taught in the Eliot, Kittery and Wells school systems before retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Eliot

Congregational Church and then the Wells Congregational Church from 1968 forward.

She is survived by her husband, Alphonse ParŽ of Wells: two daughters and two sons, Richard Carroll ParŽ of Indianapolis, Ind., Christine

Edna McDermott of West Stockbridge, Mass., Edmond Belonie ParŽ of Wells, and Ruth Agnes Stanton of Annandale, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Rd., Wells. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Wells Congregational Church. Interment will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made

to the Youth Experience Fund, c/o the Wells Congregational Church, PO Box 759, Wells, ME 04090.

Roger Walker

ROCHESTER, N.H. - Roger H. Walker, 96, formerly of Laurier Street, Somersworth, N.H., died Sept. 23, 2004 at Sun Bridge Care and Rehabilitation in Rochester after a long illness.

He was born in Lebanon, N.H., a son of Herbert and Addie (Johnson) Walker on Feb. 8, 1908. He attended the Rollinsford and Rochester schools, and later enlisted in the Navy and served in World War II.

He married Hazel G. Joy on April 18, 1933 and resided in Somersworth, N.H. for the last 72 years.

He worked as a machinist in Shop 31 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine for 33 years, retiring in 1975.

He was a member of the Salvation Army and the American Legion. He was active as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at the Faith Baptist Church in Somersworth, N.H.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers Edwin L. Walker of Rochester, N.H., Arthur F. Walker of Somersworth, N.H., one sister Beatrice Turboville of Rochester, N.H.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sisters-in-law, Bertha Rollins of Durham, N.H., and Eleanor Grenier of Dover, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Tuesday in the chapel at Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, Berwick with Rev. James Vreeland officiating. Interment was in Forrest Glade Cemetery, Somersworth, N.H.

Irene Yeskay

KENNEBUNKPORT - Irene E. Yeskay, 74, a resident of Wildes District Road in Kennebunkport, formerly of Holyoke, Mass. died Sept. 26, 2004 at the St. Andres Health Care in Biddeford after a long illness.

She was born in West Springfield, Mass. on March 9, 1930, a daughter of Joseph and Sophia (Szetala) Niedzielski and graduated from West Springfield (Mass.) High School, the class of 1948.

She was a bookkeeper for her husband's business for many years.

She was a member and sang in the choir at the First Lutheran Church in Holyoke, Mass., was a member of the Wildwood Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary of Kennebunkport and she attended Redeemer Lutheran Church of Gorham.

She enjoyed figure skating, rug braiding, and sewing.

She was predeceased by her brother Chester Niedzielski and a sister Emile Niedzielski.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Frank M. Yeskay of Kennebunkport; two daughters, Gayle A.Y. Welton of Saco, and Deborah Ann Thiboutot of Nashua, N.H.; four brothers, Joe, John, Charles and Donald Niedzielski, all of Western Massachusetts; four sisters, Mary Ball of Springfield, Mass., Frances Augustowicz of Florida, Margaret Lyons of New York, and Claire LaCroix of Chicopee Falls, Mass.; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ashley Welton.

A funeral service was held Wednesday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, Kennebunk.

Interment was in Forestdale Cemetery, Holyoke, Mass.

Mary Kraus

KENNEBUNK - Mary H. Kraus, 77, of Beach Avenue, died Sept. 23, 2004 at Maine Medical Center after a long illness.

She was born Dec. 14, 1926 in West Roxbury, Mass. After graduating from Roslindale High School in Boston, she worked in banking in Washington, D.C. and then in Boston. She was chief financial officer for her husband's orthodontist business in Boston for many years.

She volunteered at Southern Maine Medical Center for 14 years. She also volunteered at the Free Clinic in Biddeford, Make a Wish Foundation of Maine, the Kennebunkport Senior Center, and she was a member of the Southern Maine Medical Center’s Auxiliary.

She loved her friends. She also enjoyed singing in the choir at the Church on the Cape, traveling, painting, and working out at the University of New England Body Wise program.

She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Herman E. Kraus Sr. in 1989.

A funeral service was held on Monday at the Church on the Cape in Cape Porpoise with the Rev. Ruth Merriam officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen cemetery in Kennebunk.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Church on the Cape, 3 Langsford Rd., Kennebunkport, ME 04046.

Richard L. Amirault

Kennebunk - Richard Lionel Amirault 77 yrs a resident of Webber Hill Road Kennebunk died Thursday September 9, 2004 at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford after a brief illness.

He was born in Westbrook, Maine on June 21, 1927 a son of Lionel and Rita Hurst Amirault and attended Westbrook High School. He graduated from Franklin Technical School in Boston in 1956. He served in the US Army. He was employed by the State of Maine as State License Examiner for many years, retiring in the late 1980’s.

Richard was member and past master of the York Lodge A.F and A.M # 22 of West Kennebunk, Pioneer Scottish Rite Club of Springvale, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite –Valley of Portland, life member of the Kora Shrine of Lewiston, Director of Kora Mopeds, the York Country Shrine Club , York County Shrine Degree Team, Past Commander of St. Amand Commandery Knights Templar, Maine Council #7 R& S.M. of Saco, Maine Council order of High Priesthood, Past Commander Association, and High Priest of the Royal Arch Mason-Murray Chapter.

He enjoyed riding the shrine moped in shrine parades, was a master gardener, and enjoyed spending winters in Florida.

He was predeceased by his sister Anita Penny.

He is survived by his wife of 48 yrs Marjorie Stevens Amirault of Kennebunk and a cousin Marilyn Spitz of Kennebunk.

Visiting hours will be held from 7 to 8 PM Monday September 13, 2004 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk where a Masonic Services will be held at 7:45 PM followed by a funeral service at 8 PM with the Reverend Carolyn Lambert officiating. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk, Maine 04043.

Should friends desire memorial donation may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Burned Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02115 in Mr. Amirault’s memory.

Caitlin Cofer Rotchford

A memorial service will be held for Caitlin Cofer Rotchford at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at Christ the King Church, New Vernon, N.J. Mrs. Rotchford, a resident of Harding Township, N.J. and Kennebunkport, ME passed away in June of this year. Mrs. Rotchford ashes were interred in Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport, ME and a service at sea.

Katherine I. Downey

SOMERVILLE, Mass. - Katherine I. Downey, age 91, of Somerville, Mass., died Thursday, August 26, 2004, after a long illness at her residence in Somerville. Ms Downey worked for several years as a bookkeeper for Paine Webber Insurance Co. Before her retirement in 1971. Ms. Downey was a long time summer resident of Ogunquit, Maine where she owned a home in the Perkins Cove area.

Lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grandnieces and nephews.

Arrangements by George L. Doherty Funeral Home, Somerville, MA. Funeral service was at St. Clement, Somerville, on Saturday, August 28. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, MA.

William R. Brackett

WELLS - William R. Brackett Sr., 89 years, of Loop Rd., Wells, passed away peacefully at his home on September 13, 2004.

William was born November 7, 1914, a son of Percy and Lillian Perkins Brackett in Malden, MA. William graduated from Brighton High School near Boston, MA.

After high school William enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II. Following the war William earned his degree in Electrical Engineering and worked the rest of his career for RCA, rising to the position of Vice President.

William was active in The Lions Club of Wells, serving as president for many years.

He enjoyed working with his hands; William built his retirement home from the foundation up and was an accomplished woodworker. He loved to putter. William was a great friend to his neighbors and enjoyed helping anybody.

William was predeceased by his wife Rose and his brother Norman.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law William R. Brackett Jr. and Joan of San Diego, CA; two stepdaughters Barbara Zabel of Mt. Laurel, NJ and Gail Cettei of North Berwick, ME; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, Wednesday, September 15th followed by a 3:00pm service at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, Reverend Herb Henry officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to your local Lions Club.
