Timothy Cyr

ARUNDEL - Timothy E. Cyr, 48, of Rose Terrace Circle died unexpectedly at his home on April 3, 2005.

He was born in Biddeford on July 21, 1956, the son of James E. and Naomi A. Cyr. He attended Kennebunk schools and was an avid reader into adulthood.

As a boy, he held summer jobs working on local farms where he gained a knowledge of vegetable gardening. As a young man, he held jobs at Keuffel & Esser Company in Kennebunk and Kennebunk IGA store. Through the years he also held jobs in plumbing, masonry, and drywalling. He was a master craftsman at all of these occupations.

His many other interests included hunting, fishing, taxidermy, and music. He was very skilled in these hobbies and sports and was a talented musician. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, and wrote many songs. He was also an excellent cook who knew his way around the kitchen. He was also a member of The Arundel Eagles Club for several years.

He was predeceased by his mother, who died in May 1982 and his father who died in March of this year.

Surviving are two sisters, Julia and her husband Larry Theriault of Wells and Lisa and her husband Richard Ryan of Biddeford; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at the chapel with Rev. Carolyn Lambert officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to: Kennebunk Fire and Rescue, 1 Summer St., Kennebunk, ME 04043.

Frank Lambert

WELLS - Frank J. Lambert, devoted husband, father and grandfather, died on April 7, 2005 after a courageous battle with kidney disease and lung cancer.

He grew up in Lowell, Mass. He and his wife, May, were longtime residents of Chelmsford, Mass. He and May built a summer cottage on Estes Lake in Alfred in 1972 where the family continues to enjoy special times. In 1990 they retired to Flintlock Village in Wells.

He had a successful career as a construction superintendent and was a 50-year member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters. He was a proud World War II veteran, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was decorated with two Bronze stars for Meritorious Service and Valor.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret (May) Pacy Lambert of Wells; one daughter, Rhonda Lambert Frothingham; one granddaughter, Emily Lambert Geis of Brunswick; one sister, Rose Pilato of Lowell, Mass.; one brother, James Lambert of Wells; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s

Catholic Church in Wells on Friday at 10 a.m. followed by a committal service at the Evergreen cemetery in Alfred.

Should friends desire, donations may be made

in his memory to: Disabled American Vets, PO Box 3151, Togus, ME 04330-3151.

Robert Roche

WELLS - Robert B. Roche, 71, passed away peacefully at his home on April 6, 2005, surrounded by his family.

He was a retired school teacher, administrator, coach, and sports official of more than 40 years.

He is survived by his wife; seven children; and 10 grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Wells on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Per his request, a Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established in keeping with his lifelong pursuit of promoting education and career opportunities for students.

Lucille Sanders

CHELMSFORD, Mass. – Lucille B. (Buxton) Sanders, 80, a resident of Chelmsford, Mass., since 1947, and longtime summer resident of York, died April 12, 2005 at her home.

She was the wife of Wallace A. Sanders. born in Nashua, N.H. on May 7, 1924, she was a daughter of the late R. Kenneth and Dorothy (Spaulding) Buxton.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two children, Donald P. Sanders and his wife Helen of Newmarket, N.H. and Diane S. Hurvitz and her husband Robert of Chelmsford, Mass.; and five grandchildren, Heather S. DiCaprio and her husband Todd of Georgetown, Texas, David P. Sanders and his wife Hillary of Boston, and Michael P. Hurvitz, Brian D. Hurvitz, and Peter J. Hurvitz, all of Chelmsford.

Services were private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, NE Chapter, 20 Walnut St., No. 318, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.

Charles Trafton Sr.

WELLS – Charles Franklin Trafton Sr., 73, of Wells, died at his daughter’s residence in Palm Bay, Fla., April 11, 2005.

He was born Dec. 5, 1931 in York and had been a lifelong resident of Wells.

He was a wonderful and supportive husband of Virginia L. Trafton who died Aug. 17, 1981.

He owned and operated Trafton Landscaping and Excavation in Wells and Bridgton Pines Campground in Bridgton, for many years prior to retirement.

Members of his family include three sons, Charles Trafton Jr., Larry Trafton and Kelvin Trafton, all Wells; five daughters, Judith Gallinari, Bridgton, Maine, Jane Vecchio, Wells, Joyce Vermillion, Palm Bay, Fla., Dorothy Heath, Wells and Tammy Andriulli, New Port News, Va.; one sister, Anne Cole, Wells; 30 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

No funeral services are scheduled.

Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home, Palm Bay, Fla., is in charge of local arrangements.

Frances Warner

KITTERY - Frances “Fran” F. Warner, 60, of Newmarch Street in Kittery died on Monday April 4, 2005 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Alma, Mich., she was a daughter of Marie Rose and Ike Walker.

She enjoyed camping. She was an avid knitter and volunteer knitter for Sturbridge Village and relished every moment spent with her two special grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Larry Warner of Kittery; two daughters, Laurie Marino of Kittery and Traci Warner of Portsmouth; and her two beloved granddaughters, Ashleigh and Emily; and one sister, Marlene Ivey of Tennessee.

A memorial service will be celebrated today at 11 a.m. at her church, St. Mark’s United Methodist Church on Government Street in Kittery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to her church, St. Mark’s United Methodist Church Government Street in Kittery, The American Cancer Society or your local Hospice.

Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home of Kittery.

Frank Coombs

SANFORD - Frank H. Coombs, 72, formerly of Kennebunk, died the afternoon of April 9, 2005 at the Newton Center following a long illness.

He was born in Kennebunk on April 22, 1932, a son of Harry Everett Sr. and Margaret Mae (Brown) Coombs.

He was married to the former Lorraine Y. Toussaint.

He was employed for many years as a heavy equipment operator. He worked in 1955 on the Massachusetts Turnpike, then in Connecticut for 15 years for the State Highway Department. Following this, he moved to Sanford where he worked for Genest Concrete. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of St. Martha Church in Kennebunk. He was also a member of the York Lodge of Masons. He enjoyed playing the guitar, and was a member of a band, “The Country Ramblers” when he lived in Connecticut.

Survivors include his wife of Kennebunk; three sons, Steven Robert Coombs of N.H., Frank A. Coombs of West Newfield, and Scott Everett Coombs of Berwick; and several brothers and sisters, most from the Kennebunk area; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

There are no visiting hours or funeral services.

If desired, memorial donations may be made in his name to: Muscular Dystrophy Association of America Inc., 622 Congress St., Portland, ME. 04101.

F. Hector Gauthier

MILLVILLE – F. Hector Gauthier, 87, of Central Street, died March 19, 2005 after an illness. He was the husband of 33 years of Madeline (Powers) Gauthier.

Born Aug. 18, 1917 in Uxbridge, the son of Felix and Eva (Bedard) Gauthier, he lived in Millville for the past 32 years, previously living in North Uxbridge. He was educated on the Uxbridge public school system and was a graduate of the former Hill College in Woonsocket.

He was an office worker at the former Whitin Machine Works in Northbridge for 50 years, retiring in 1982.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the Third Infantry in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He was, involved in the liberation of Rome and took part in the Battle of Anzio, spending three months in a foxhole. He received three Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. He was a member of Uxbridge Post No. 1385, VFW, where he served as quartermaster for 50 years.

His pastimes included traveling and spending time at his house in Maine.

He is also survived by two sons, Paul Gauthier in Florida and Dennis Gauthier of Cape Cod, Mass.; one daughter, Joyce Gauthier of Cape Cod; two stepsons, William Dean in Massachusetts, and Charles Dean in Rhode Island; two stepdaughters, Patricia Dean and Kathleen Swingle, both in Florida; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

His funeral was held from the Tancreli-Jackman Funeral Home, Uxbridge, with a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church. Burial was in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Uxbridge.

Allis MacNeill

WELLS - Allis Dittmar (Bailey) MacNeill, 90, formerly of River Street, Hudson, Mass., Mayflower Heights, Provincetown, Mass, Flintlock Village in Wells, Maine and Beachwood Terrace in Wells, died April 06, 2005, at Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Elizabeth, N.J. on Sept. 30, 1914, the daughter of Francis J. and Ruth (Hill) Dittmar.

She lived in Hudson, Mass. for more than 70 years, summering in Provincetown, Cape Cod for 30 years. Along with raising six children, she was active as past president of the Hudson Women’s Club, Hudson Historical Society and the First Unitarian Church of Hudson, and Marlboro’s Women’s Alliance. She also volunteered many times with the Red Cross blood drives as well as election polling.

During World War II, she served as a nursing aide at Cushing Hospital in Framingham, Mass.

She was a devoted conferee at Star Island, Isle of Shoals in New Hampshire, for more than 42 years. During that time, she worked in the Island Gift Shop and for many years she served as hostess in the Vaughn Cottage on Star Island.

She, with her beautiful and versatile voice, was a member of the Handel Hyden Society Chorus in Boston, Mass. for more than 10 years, as well as a member of the Unitarian Church Choirs in Hudson, Mass., Kennebunk, Maine and Provincetown, Mass.

She was a very talented and artistic women and an avid reader. She was an antique dealer and appraiser most of her life, and her hobbies were vast, including reading, Elizabethan history, traveling and sewing her own clothes and historical costume restoration.

She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley V. MacNeill and a son, Robert A. Bailey.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan H. (Isaacs) MacNeill of Wells; one son, Richard C. Bailey of Miami Springs, Fla.,; three stepchildren, Catherine J. Jordan, David L. MacNeill and Kenneth C. MacNeill, all of Georgia; three beloved grandchildren, Gary F. Isaacs and family of Franklin, Mass, Toby M. Isaacs and family of Rutland, Mass., and Harper M. Bailey of Boston, Mass.; and her beautiful great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23 at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Kennebunk.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made in her name to the Star Island Corporation for Vaughan Cottage, 10 Vaughan Mall, Suite 8, North Plaza, Portsmouth, NH 03801.

Arrangements are by Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Rd., Wells.

Daniel Maynard

HANOVER, Pa. - Daniel William Maynard, 55, of Hanover entered into God’s eternal care April 6, 2005, at his home.

Born in Providence, R.I. on Jan. 17, 1950, he was the son of the late Daniel H. and Alice J. (Pickup) Maynard.

He was a director of Information Technology for Book Span in Hanover for eight years.

A veteran of the Viet Nam War, he served in Viet Nam with the U.S. Army.

He is survived by one son, Dennis Michael Maynard of White Marsh, Md.; three daughters, Jessica Mary Maynard of White Marsh, Md., Kelly Maynard of Las Crusas, New Mexico, and Jocelyn O’Quinn of Portsmouth, N.H.; one sister, Kathleen Maynard of Oakland, Calif.; and a loving companion Shirley Szwoyer of Hanover, Pa.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday morning at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Whipple Road Kittery.

Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home of Kittery.

Leon Place

ELIOT - Leon (Mickey) Place, 74, of Meadow Lane in Eliot, died on April 4, 2005 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born in Eliot on July 25, 1930, he attended local schools graduating from Eliot High School with the class of 1949.

He was the beloved husband of Doris (Madore) Place, loving father of his daughters Linda Lee Place, Sandra Place Tyler and her friend Walter Duvall, his son, Michael Gary Place and his friend Cheryl Pitt, grandfather to Christopher, Matthew and Jennifer Chappell, Kevin and Daniel Tyler along with good friend Katie McDonald; also survived by his brothers Guy and his wife Phyllis Place, Richard Place and friend Cheryl Goodwin, Ted and wife Roberta Place, Arthur and wife Renee Place, Ronald and wife Sue Place; sisters Calista and husband Jim Baker, Debbie and husband Michael LaMontagne; sister-in-law, Jennie Place, as well as a host of nieces and nephews; longtime friends and loved ones.

A memorial service was celebrated on Saturday at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, Kittery, with the Rev. Fr. Real Nadeau officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home of Kittery.
