Noelle Littlefield

NORTH BERWICK--Noelle J. Littlefield, 62, passed away at her home in North Berwick, on Feb. 14, 2007, after fighting a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

Noelle's illness developed in her late 40's, and with the support of her family, friends, and professional caregivers, she was able to participate in life's daily activities with dignity and grace.

Noelle was born in Rochester, N.H. on Feb. 25, 1944, and lived all her life in North Berwick.

She was married 44 years to Dexter Littlefield of North Berwick. Noelle graduated from North Berwick High School and was selected to give an honor essay at her graduation. After working for three years at Hussey Mfg. Co., in the accounts payable department, Noelle then decided to be a stay-at-home Mom to raise her three children. Once her children were grown up, Noelle worked for the town of North Berwick, serving as the Town's Treasurer for several years before retiring in 1992. She loved interacting with the town's people and greeting them with her beautiful smile.

Noelle enjoyed going out to dinner with her friends and entertaining them in her home. She loved to travel and reminisce about her vacations in Florida and the Caribbean. She spent much of her time making crafts and hand-stenciling all the walls in her home to reflect Early American décor, a style that she adored.

Those to predecease Noelle include her father Wilfred Vachon, her mother June Stillings, and a sister Rhonda Stillings, all of North Berwick.

She is survived by her husband Dexter Littlefield of North Berwick; a daughter Jennifer Finn and her husband Chad of Wells; two sons, Michael and his fiancée Meghan Sirois of North Berwick, Joel and his wife Katy of Wells; a sister Jewel Moore and her husband Bob of North Berwick; a brother Wilfred Vachon and his wife Laura of Sanford; and six grandchildren, Derek, Conner, Mikaela, Kira, Leah Noelle, and Alex.

When Noelle was living life to its fullest, it was her hope that when her earthly life came to an end she would be remembered as a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend to all the people she was privileged and blessed to have known. Noelle felt that if in some small way her love, tears, and laughter had touched our lives, and if we keep a memory of her in our hearts, then her loving spirit will remain with us forever.

To honor Noelle's wishes, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. The family will have a private service, and there will be a committal this spring at Ocean View cemetery in Wells.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to: The Noelle J. Littlefield Memorial Scholarship Fund, Care of Meghan Sirois, 271 Bauneg Beg Hill Road, North Berwick, ME 03906.
