Cecil Bell
BIDDEFORD - Former resident Cecil Malan Bell Jr., 63, of Easley, S.C., died Sunday at his home.
He was born in Biddeford, a son of Cecil M. Sr. and Thelma Warren Bell.
He had retired from the security department of Greenville County schools.
Mr. Bell was a member of Bates Masonic Lodge No. 189 and St. Andrew's United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Bowen Bell; a son, Bobby M. of Liberty, S.C.; a daughter, Deborah (Mrs. William) Queen of Liberty; a brother, Warren Bruce of Richmond, Va.; and four grandchildren.
Claire Desrosier
BIDDEFORD - Claire V. Desrosier, 48, of Ranch Lane, died Sunday at Southern Maine Medical Center after a battle with cancer.
She was born in Biddeford on March 30, 1954, a daughter of Roland and Antoinette Perreault Boucher, and was educated in schools there, graduating from Biddeford High School in 1972.
On Sept. 21, 1974, she married
Douglas Desrosier at St. Joseph's Church.
She had been employed at Prime Care Family Practice in Saco, leaving in February due to illness.
Mrs. Desrosier enjoyed reading, walks, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and co-workers.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years; three daughters, Kimberly (Mrs. Ethan) Baker of Bowdoin and Karen and Kristen, both of Biddeford; her parents of Biddeford; three sisters, Rolande Campbell of Millbury, Mass. and Ann Delcourt and Celeste Sevigny, both of Biddeford; two brothers, Guy Boucher of Biddeford and Mark Boucher of Saco; several nieces and nephews and five great-nieces and -nephews.
Mary Lou Hanna
SOUTH WATERBORO - Mary Lou Hanna, 67, died Sunday at her home.
She was born on May 10, 1935 in Portland, the daughter of Louis and Dorothy Sawyer Brideau, and attended New York and Portland schools.
On Oct. 24, 1953, she married
Robert Hanna.
For many years she helped her husband operate a Sunoco station in Windham. She also worked many years as a prep cook at Christopher's Restaurant in Sanford.
Mrs. Hanna enjoyed socializing with her friends and family and often traveled with her husband and faithful travel companions, Don and Marguerite, across the country. She enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, playing bingo and nice afternoons fishing.
A sister, Nancy Skinner, died previously.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years; four children, Jerri L. McEwen and Roberta J. Meserve, both of Limerick, David M. of Sanford and Paul L. of Waterboro; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Jerrold Fernald
HOLLIS CENTER - Jerrold E. Fernald, 70, of Nichols Lane, died Sunday at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.
He was born April 7, 1931 in Pittsfield, a son of Floyd and Phyllis Chadbourne Fernald, and was educated in schools there.
Mr. Fernald served with the U. S. Army from 1949 to 1951.
For most of his working life, he had been employed with the railroad in New York.
His wife, Emma Bowie Fernald, died in 1991.
Surviving are four sons, Michael of Saco, Christopher of Pismo Beach, Calif., John Flye of Barre, Vt. and Robert Flye of Chelsea, Vt.; five daughters, Paula Robin of New Jersey, Peggy Lee of Biddeford, Martha Salamedia of New York, Pauline Trent of North Carolina and Donna Emmons of Parsonsfield; his companion of 10 years, Shirley Flye; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
Laurette Daigle
BIDDEFORD - Former resident Laurette M. Daigle, 85, of Auburn, died Sunday at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
She was born Jan. 20, 1916 in Notre Dame des Bois, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of Pierre and Eugenie Valance Morin, and was educated in Canadian schools.
On Sept. 28, 1940, she married
William A. Daigle in Our Lady of the Lakes Church in Oquossoc. She moved to the Biddeford area in 1942.
Mrs. Daigle enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading and the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was an active member of St. Joseph's Church in Biddeford for many years, where she volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Her husband died in 1980 and a son, Nelson P., died in 1966. Four brothers, Desire, Leandre, Paul and Gilles Morin, and two sisters, Juliette Boulanger and Annette Dubois, also died previously.
Surviving are a son, Donald L. of Lyman; a daughter, Denise Paquette (Mrs. Stephen) Nyulaszi of Lewiston; a brother, Albert F. Morin of Biddeford; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Bertha Drummey
SANFORD - Former resident Bertha A. Drummey, 77, of Victoria Court in York, died Sunday at York Hospital.
She was born in New Rochelle, N.Y. on March 17, 1923, the daughter of Oscar J. and Charlotta Hilgen Groebl.
She is survived by many relatives.
Robert Bedard
SANFORD - Robert P. Bedard, 48, of School Street, died Saturday from injuries received in a truck accident on the Maine Turnpike in Saco.
He was born April 12, 1952 in Boston, the son of Charles and Noreen (Jones) Bedard, and attended Dorchester, Mass. schools.
Mr. Bedard left school and joined the U.S. Army, serving from 1969 to 1971. He received his GED in the service and did one tour of duty in Vietnam.
He had been employed as a long-haul truck driver for many years, and for the last 13 years had been a driver for the Gulf Oil Co..
Mr. Bedard enjoyed motorcycles and was a member of the United Bikers of Maine, participating in their Toys for Tots program. He was also a member of the Sanford VFW Post 9935 and the Wolves Club.
Survivors include his companion, Chrissy James of Sanford; his paternal grandmother, Marion Estella O'Malley of Sanford; four brothers, Charles R. and David W., both of Sanford, Leslie James of Springvale and Steven M. of Mundelien, Ill.; two half-brothers, John M. of Newfield and Michael of Springvale; and a half-sister, Deborah Gile of Acton.
Roland Bineau
BIDDEFORD - Roland J. Bineau Jr., 54, of Miller Avenue, died Sunday at Southern Maine Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 10, 1947 in Biddeford, the son of Roland Sr. and Rita Gagnon Bineau, and was educated locally.
Mr. Bineau worked for 24 years at Saco Defense and five years at the American Tool Co. in Gorham.
He was a member of the Biddeford Eagles and enjoyed playing pool and watching local and professional sports.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Jeannette Montpas; his father of Biddeford; a brother, Leonard of Biddeford; a sister, Nancy McAboy of Toledo, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
Edward Hagman
WELLS - Edward Henry "J.R." Hagman, 83, died Sunday.
He was born Aug. 1, 1918 in Boston, the son of John H. S. and Louise Dame Hagman, and attended public schools in Everett, Mass.
He had lived in Wells since 1984.
From 1937 to 1942, he worked at J.F. McAdams & Bros. in Chelsea, Mass. as a milk tester. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps Nov. 27, 1942, was a member of the 20th Air Force H.Q. and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was a corporal and meat/dairy technician and was honorably discharged Feb. 13, 1946 from Ft. Devens, Mass.
He worked for the South Boston Post Office for 36 years.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Sanford Country Club and the Sanford American Legion Post 19. He enjoyed helping others, family members say, and liked being called "J.R."
Two wives, Evelyn O. White Hagman and Marie J. Dugay Hagman, a brother, Walter and a sister, Honey, all died previously.
Surviving are a sister, Helen Varley of Clearmont, Fla.; a stepson, Dennis J. Whall of York; three granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, three nephews and one niece.
Pauline Fecteau
BIDDEFORD - Pauline A. Fecteau, 78, of Herring Avenue, died Monday at St. Andre's Health Care Facility.
She was born in Rochester, N.H. on Jan. 9, 1923, the daughter of Alphonse and Florida Dubois Sylvain, was educated in Rochester schools and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1941 and the Webber Hospital School of Nursing in 1944 as a registered nurse.
On April 27, 1946, she married
Gerard "Gerry" Fecteau at Holy Rosary Church in Rochester. He died Oct. 11, 1993.
She worked for one year at Frisbee Hospital and 32 years at Webber Hospital and Southern Maine Medical Center as a pediatric nurse, retiring in 1985.
Mrs. Fecteau was a member of St. Joseph's Church and enjoyed bowling, reading and playing cards.
Surviving are one daughter, Elaine (Mrs. Donald) Crepeau of Biddeford; a brother, Wilfrid Sylvain of Gonic, N.H.; and two grandsons, Mark Crepeau of Amesbury, Mass. and Tim Crepeau of Salem, N.H.
Kayla Duffy
NORTH WATERBORO - Kayla M. Duffy, infant daughter of Stephen Sr. and Anne Marie Harrington Duffy, died at birth June 4 at Mercy Hospital in Portland.
Besides her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Stephen Jr. and Donovan, and a sister, Kathleen, all of North Waterboro; grandparents Kevin and Una Harrington of Pelham, N.H.; grandmother Lorraine of Sherman; and great-grandparents Verl and Ella Shaw of Sherman and Anne O'Connor of Ireland.
Jacqueline Kinne
LYMAN - Jacqueline S. Kinne, 62, of New Road, died Sunday at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born in Biddeford on Jan. 9, 1939, a daughter of Albert and Bernadette Lamirande Verville, and graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1959.
Mrs. Kinne was employed by the former Kesslen Shoe Company of Kennebunk, Bruce Shoe of Biddeford and Sprague Electric of Sanford.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Robert Kinne; two daughters, Patricia Letourneau of Dayton and Barbara Jervis of Shapleigh; a sister, Priscilla (Mrs. David) Hersom of Arundel; and three grandchildren.
Ethel Boutet
SACO - Ethel Boutet, 85, of Water Street, died Monday at Evergreen Manor.
She was born in Saco on Sept. 1, 1914, a daughter of Adrian A. and Maud Veniot Brown, and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1931.
Mrs. Boutet had been employed by the Saco-Lowell Shops for several years, and following her retirement she worked for the American Red Cross.
She enjoyed sewing.
Her husband, Clayton Boutet, died in April 1976.
Survivors include a son, Clayton L. of Lowell, Mass.; a daughter, Constance (Mrs. Arthur) Mapes of Peabody, Mass.; a brother, Ernest Brown of Bulverde, Texas; two sisters, Marion Anderson of California and Florence Laird of Saco; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
