Charlotte Hart

BIDDEFORD - Charlotte Vera Hart, 69, formerly of Biddeford and Durham, died Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston.

She was born in Biddeford on Oct. 27, 1932, a daughter of Ethel and Waldo Tibbetts, attended Biddeford High School and Thornton Academy and was a member of the first graduating class at the Maine Medical Center's School of Nursing in 1955.

On Aug. 28, 1955, she married Charles Atwood Hart.

Mrs. Hart worked as a registered nurse at Maine Medical Center in Portland and Pineland Center in Pownal. She also worked as a consultant for the State Department of Human Services, licensing intermediate care facilities.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and attended Durham Congregational Church.

Family members say her greatest love was her family. She was a devoted wife and exceptional mother, grandmother and friend. Her interests included birdwatching, excursions with her retired colleagues, puzzles, square dancing, cheating at cribbage, singing off-key, collecting miniature elephants and enjoying her husband's flower gardens. She will be missed by her beloved dog, Poncho.

Survivors include her husband of Durham; two daughters, Cheryl of Scarborough and Jane of Lisbon Falls; three sons, Waldo of Ashland, Ore., Brian of Las Vegas, Nev. and Donald of Durham; two brothers, Harold Tibbetts of Ellington, Conn. and Philip Tibbetts of Saco; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Wilbur Kelley

LEBANON - Wilbur L. Kelley, 84, of Little River Road, died Sunday at the Greenwood Center in Sanford.

He was born Sept. 4, 1917, a son of Edward and Edna Mae Libby Kelley.

He was a lifelong resident of Lebanon, living in the home he was born in.

He was one of the several original founders of the Lebanon Fire Dept. He spent a good part of his life doing what he loved, which was working in the woods. He also plowed Lebanon roads for many years in his own 10-wheel drive Army truck. In later years, he worked at Baxter Woolen Mill in Rochester, N.H. and Brooks Woolen Mill in Sanford.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing with his grandson Thomas.

His son, Richard, a brother, Malcolm and a sister, Evelyn, died previously.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gladys E.; four sons, James of Vallejo, Calif., Robert of Springvale, Ronald of Bothell, Wash. and Michael of North Lebanon; a daughter, Sharon (Mrs. Wayne) Stevens of New Gloucester; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Judith Tremblay

BIDDEFORD - Former resident Judith A. Tremblay, 38, of Bristol, Tenn., died last week in Bristol.

She was born in Biddeford on Feb. 26, 1962, the daughter of Marcel and Constance Binette Tremblay, graduated from Biddeford High School in 1981 and attended Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Va., where she was working towards a degree in stable management.

A self-employed horse trainer, she had worked at Mann Memorial Clinic in Arundel for several years and with her father's construction business, Marcel Tremblay Construction. She served with the Acton Rescue and had participated in canine search and rescue operations.

Ms. Tremblay enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, hiking, waterskiing and horseback riding.

She was a member of St. Andre's Church.

Surviving are her parents of Acton; three sisters, Diane and Lisa, both of Biddeford, and Debra (Mrs. Gary) Hamel of Saco; a brother, Gary of Acton; five nieces and several aunts and uncles.

Elwyn Donnell

SANFORD - Elwyn H. Donnell, 90, of School Street, died Monday at Goodall Hospital.

He was born in North Berwick on Oct. 3, 1911, a son of Henry and Lydia Hamilton Donnell.

He was a Merchant Marine, serving on transport ships. For 20 years, he worked as a machinist for Seamloc Carpet in Sanford.

Mr. Donnell had been a member of the Bauneg Beg Grange in North Berwick, past Master of Preble Lodge No. 143 AF & AM of Sanford, where he received recognition for being Tyler for more than 25 years, past High Priest of White Rose Royal Arch Chapter No. 54 and member of Maine Council No. 7 Royal and Select Masters, Bethany Commandery No. 24 Knights Templar and Chalcedon Red Cross of Constantine No. 5.

His wife of 67 years, Thelma C. Donnell, died last September.

Surviving are a daughter, Priscilla (Mrs. Jeffrey) Lane of Sanford, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Susan Hevey

SANFORD - Former resident Susan Doloris Hevey, 81, of Gastonia, N.C., died Dec. 1, 2001 at Gastonia Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Hevey was the wife of the late Andrew Hevey.

Survivors include her daughter, Joanne (Mrs. Mark) Bratt of Gastonia; a sister, Stella Finelli of Pittsfield, Mass.; and two granddaughters, Christine Spencer of Gastonia and Debbie (Mrs. Brett) Eason of Charlotte, N.C.

Janet Savageau

SANFORD - Janet Brown Savageau, 46, died unexpectedly Saturday.

She was born April 16, 1954 in New Haven, Conn., the daughter of Leonard H. and Mary Bellemore Brown, and attended local schools.

She was employed by Nike and Cole-Haan in Maine.

Her sister, Betsy Ann Brown Gordon, died previously.

Surviving are her son, Brett, and daughter, Allison Gross; a sister, Mary Ellen Brown of Hamden, Conn.; her companion of many years, Glenn Gross; an uncle, several aunts, nieces, cousins and a nephew.

Frank Scott

SACO - Frank G. Scott, 62, of Pheasant Road, died Monday at his home.

He was the son of Bryant C. and Helen Archibald Scott, was educated in Portland schools and graduated from the University of Southern Maine.

For most of his life, Mr. Scott was employed as an electrician by Bath Iron Works and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. His most recent employment was at the Montgomery Air Force Base in Alabama.

He returned to Maine in 1993.

He is survived by a son, Ronald B. of Old Orchard Beach; a daughter, Julie Anne of Limington; a brother, Richard B. of Panama City, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Dwight McPherson

EAST WATERBORO - Dwight R. McPherson, 38, died Wednesday at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

He was born March 8, 1964 in Saco, the son of Virginia M. Swett Day, and graduated from Massabesic High School in 1982.

For many years, he worked as an auto parts salesman for VIP Auto, NAPA and other auto parts stores.

Mr. McPherson was a past master and member of the Fraternal Order of Masons. He was a lifetime member of the Waterboro Fire and Rescue, where he served as an E.M.T., and was also past president and member of the Waterboro Jaycees and a member of the Eagles Club.

Mr. McPherson will be most remembered for the love he had for his 1966 Ford pickup truck, "Evelyn." She was his pride and joy, and restoring her was his greatest achievement. He often traveled with Evelyn to auto shows and competitions within Maine.

Three brothers, Jerry, Dana, and Dale, all died previously.

Survivors include his mother Virginia (Mrs. Donald C.) Day of East Waterboro; three brothers, Douglas R. of Rockford, Ill., Derryl R. of Montville, and Dennis R. Day of Hollis; a sister, Dawn D. (Mrs. Scott) Drown of Saco; his grandmothers, Frances Swett and Grace L. Day; five nephews and five nieces; and special friends and caretakers, Eric Jacobsen and Kenny Hamilton.

Reginald Legere

SANFORD - Reginald F. Legere, 72, of Madison Street, died Wednesday at H. D. Goodall Hospital.

He was born in Sanford April 29, 1929, a son of Arthur and Emily Desroche Legere, attended schools there and Sanford High School.

He was a letter carrier for the postal service for 25 years, and served in the Army in the early 50's.

Mr. Legere was a communicant of Holy Family Church, and a member of the Elks Lodge and V.F.W.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Aurela T. Michaud Legere; five sons, Ronald J. of California, Ken, Larry, Richard D. and Kevin, all of Sanford; a brother, Paul; two sisters, Lorraine Milne of Sanford and Pauline Kane of Scarborough; and seven grandchildren.

Paul J. Dubois

SACO - Paul J. Dubois, 84, of Ocean Park Road, died Wednesday at home.

He was born April 2, 1917, in Biddeford, a son of William and Mary Julia Hickey Dubois, and attended Biddeford schools.

A Navy veteran, Mr. Dubois worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 27 years, retiring in 1982.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at Nason's Beach on Sebago Lake for 26 years.

Mr. Dubois enjoyed boating, fishing and woodworking.

He was predeceased by his wife, Irene B. Garneau Dubois, on Feb. 1 and by three brothers, William, Larry and Albert Dubois, and a sister, Florence Cloutier.

Survivors include three sons, Daniel A. of Lyman, Michael P. of Lakewood, Colo., and Norman R. of Millinocket; two brothers, Edward Dubois of Ocean Park and Raymond Dubois of Dunedin, Fla.; a sister, Pauline Arsenault of Sanford; four grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Maureen Roach

KENNEBUNKPORT - Maureen Roach, 63, of Wildes District Road, died Tuesday at Maine Medical Center in Portland following a long illness.

She was born in Boston on Oct. 12, 1937, a daughter of Philip and Delia Thornton Conroy, and was educated in Boston schools. Mrs. Roach graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School in 1955 and then attended Massachusetts College of Art.

She was employed as a bookkeeper at D.C. Heath Publishing Co. in Boston for five years and at Superior Trucking Co., also in Boston, for three years.

She married William M. Roach at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mission Church in Boston in 1961. They moved to Kennebunkport in 1963.

From the time her children were born, she had been a homemaker who was always involved in their activities, mainly in scouting and sports. She coached soccer, softball, and hockey teams, and lent her support wherever it was needed.

She loved antiquing and making the rounds at local yard sales in search of a bargain. A collector of antique china and kitchen utensils, Mrs. Roach also enjoyed seascape and still life painting. She loved computers and could frequently be found surfing the Internet in search of antiques. Mrs. Roach was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing a variety of international and ethnic dishes.

She was a member of St. Martha's Church in Kennebunk.

Surviving are her husband of 40 years; two sons, William M. Jr. of London, England, and Colin P. of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Julianne Bailey of Woodbury, Conn. and Chrysa Ragnarsson of Burlington, Mass.; a sister, Catherine Drew of Brockton, Mass.; a brother, James Conroy of Stockbridge, Mass.; and four grandchildren.

Thomas Petit

LYMAN - Thomas J. Petit, 39, of Maple Street, died unexpectedly Tuesday at Southern Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Biddeford on April 20, 1961, a son of Renald and Lorraine Roy Jannelle, and graduated from Biddeford High School in 1980. Mr. Petit attended the Police Academy in Miami, Fla.

On April 16, 1999, he married Donna M. Payeur in Old Orchard Beach.

Mr. Petit was employed at the Davie, Fla. Police Department from 1981 to 1991, and at the Berea, Ohio Police Department from 1991 to 1994. He worked at the Biddeford Wal-Mart from 1995 until 1999, and had last been employed at the Bill Dodge Auto Park in Westbrook as a salesman.

His interests included cooking and decorating. He loved decorating for the holidays and entering area contests. Mr. Petit was a dedicated family man. It was important to him to spend every moment he could with his wife and daughter.

His father, Renald Jannelle, died in 1996.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Stephanie Cobb of Lyman; his mother of Springvale; two sisters, Carol Henaire of Biddeford and Diane Petit of Florida; three brothers, Ted of Saco, James of Florida, and Scott Janelle of Biddeford; and several nieces and nephews.
