K. Raymond Rouillard

EAST WATERBORO - K. Raymond Rouillard, age 63, Pheasant Run Road, formerly of Saco, died unexpectedly on Thursday at his home.

He was born in Biddeford on July 1, 1938, son of Armand E. and Pauline E. Dubay Rouillard. He was educated in Saco schools and graduated from Thornton Academy.

Following high school he served in the U.S. Air Force. For many years following his discharge from the Air Force in 1959 Ray, as he was known to his friends and family, owned and operated various automatic transmission repair shops in southern Maine. He later was employed as a marine machine mechanic at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 15 years until his retirement last year.

Mr. Rouillard was an enthusiastic boater and a master automobile and marine technician. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, to whom he was known as "Beepa," and finish carpentry work. His family said he enjoyed life to its fullest extent.

He was a charter member of the Waterboro Fraternal Order of Eagles and a former member of the Voltigeur Snowshoe Club in Biddeford.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Carolyn Gomez Rouillard, of East Waterboro; two sons, Glenn D. Rouillard of Leander, Texas and Eric C. Mullen of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four daughters, Patricia A. Burton, of Leander, Texas, Debra L. Rouillard of Greenville, S.C., Dawna L. Schmidt of Saco and Brooke M. Pushaw of Limington; a sister, Beverly A. Rouillard of Lyman; 12 grandchildren and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Vivian Overton

SACO - Former resident Vivian Fitanides Overton, 83, died Sept. 8.

She was born in Saco and received her bachelor's degree in 1941 at Madison College and her Master's degree in 1945 at Gallaudet College.

Ms. Overton was a speech and hearing therapist at Sharpe Health School of Washington, D.C. for almost 34 years. During this time, she published many articles and documents on speech and hearing pathology. She retired as an Education Specialist and Speech Therapist with the Department of Education in Washington.

She supported the arts in the Washington area and was a generous supporter of animal rights, spending time with several local and national non-profit organizations.

She was also a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Washington.

Her husband, prominent Washington trial attorney John Calvin Overton, died previously.

Survivors include one sister, Marion Fitanides Stickney of Saco; three brothers, Theophilus Andrew Fitanides of Biddeford, Peter Andrew Fitanides of Hampton, N.H. and Frederick Andrew Fitanides of Saco; 17 nieces and nephews and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Raymond Foster

WATERBORO - Raymond "Ray" Foster, 63, died at his home Sunday.

He was born Oct. 31, 1938 in Waterboro, the son of Charles and Ella Moses Foster, and attended schools there.

He worked as a machinist for many years.

Mr. Foster was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and tending to his garden. He was a past deacon of the Waterboro Church and a member of the Waterboro Fire & Rescue Dept.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, June Fadden Foster; four daughters, Terri Harmon of Limerick, Gail Gordon of Kezar Falls, Betty Egan of Waterboro and Bonnie White of Raymond; a stepdaughter, Holly Denbow; a brother, several sisters, six grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, a stepgrandson and nieces and nephews.

Anna Foley

BIDDEFORD - Anna G. Foley, 89, of Alfred Street, died Friday at Southern Maine Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 8, 1912, in Island Pond, Vt., a daughter of Arthur and Olivine Pelletier Goulet. She attended Island Pond schools.

Mrs. Foley was employed by Bruce Shoe in Biddeford for many years.

She was a communicant of St. Andre's Church.

She loved to spend time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leandre Foley, on Feb. 17, 1974.

She was also predeceased by five brothers, Fred, Theodore, Alphonse, Adelard and Henry Goulet.

She is survived by two sons, James L. "Red" Foley and John Foley, both of Biddeford; one brother, Joseph Arthur Goulette of Biddeford; three sisters, Olivine M. Tanguay and Alice Mahar of Biddeford and Emma Gunther of Lancaster, N.H.; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce Bolton

HOLLIS - Joyce G. Bolton, 80, of Hollis and Portland, died Monday at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Concord, N.H. on Sept. 19, 1922, a daughter of Herbert L. and Gertrude P. Brown, and was educated in the public schools of Penacook.

Mrs. Bolton worked briefly as a switchboard operator at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Forest Rebekah Lodge, Pleasant Hill Sunshine Society and the "Forever Young" Bowling League at Yankee Lanes.

Her husband of 62 years, Richard E. Bolton, and a son, Richard L., died previously.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda J. Eastman of Portland and Kathleen E. Hall of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sons, Edward E. of Longwood, Fla. and Phillip N. of Virginia Beach, Va.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children.

Daniel Donovan

OLD ORCHARD BEACH - Daniel F. Donovan, 92, of Carleton Avenue and South Windsor, Conn., died Sunday at Manchester (Conn.) Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 6, 1910 in Biddeford, the son of Michael and Ellen Flaherty Donovan, was educated in schools there and graduated from Biddeford High School in 1928. While in high school, he participated in athletics.

He was a bookkeeper for Marblehead Boatyard in Biddeford. After Prohibition, he was employed by the State of Maine Liquor Commission, where he traveled the state establishing new liquor stores. He later went to work for the Saco-Lowell Shops in Biddeford.

In 1957, he moved to Easeley, S.C. to continue his employment with Saco-Lowell Shops until his retirement in 1975, when he returned to Maine and settled in Old Orchard Beach. He moved to South Windsor three years ago to live with his daughter.

As a young man, he enjoyed dancing and won many Charleston dancing championships at the casino at the end of the Pier.

He was a member of St. Margaret's Parish and a communicant of St. Margaret Mary's Parish in South Windsor. While in Saco, he volunteered for the Little League and the Thornton Academy Boosters and served as an usher for many years at Most Holy Trinity Parish.

Eleanor A. McDonald Donovan, his wife of 59 years, died in January 1998. A son, Michael P., two brothers, James and John, and three sisters, Mary, Catherine Tarbox and Margaret Joncas, also died previously.

Surviving are a son, Daniel F. of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Mary Ellen (Mrs. Martin) Molloy of South Windsor; four grandchildren, Susan, Michael, Sean Molloy and Kevin Molloy; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Jeannine Katon

LYMAN - Jeannine G. Katon, 57, of Fox Meadow Run, died Monday at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

She was born in Biddeford on Aug. 22, 1945, a daughter of Leopold and Juliette Grenier Girouard, and was educated in schools there, graduating from St. Joseph's High School in 1964.

She was married to Raymond M. Hebert for 25 years and to David A. Katon Sr. for nearly five years.

She worked at Fairchild Semiconductor for three years and Harmon & Baert Associates for about eight years.

Mrs. Katon was a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Saco and enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, crafting, gardening and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Her first husband died in 2001 and a sister, Claire, died in 1997.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Daniel Hebert of East Waterboro and John Hebert of Dayton; a daughter, Tina Bertrand of Saco; a sister, Mona Girouard of Waterboro; a brother, R. John Girouard of National Park, N.J.; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Boutet

OGUNQUIT - Robert Emmett Boutet, 86, of Dixon Run Road, died Sunday at his home.

He was born Dec. 7, 1915 in Biddeford, one of 11 children to Sylvio and Annabelle Simpson Boutet, and graduated from Thornton Academy in Saco and the Saco-Lowell Apprentice Program.

Mr. Boutet was employed by the Watertown Arsenal and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, then returned to the Navy Yard.

He married Ruth Helen Poisson in 1944, and in 1947 they moved to Ogunquit. She died April 17, 1996.

Upon retirement in 1972, Mr. Boutet began a charter boat service in Perkins Cove. In 1980, his son joined the business. Family members say he was good at what he did, from finding cod in the Gulf of Maine to making lures, trivets and cleaver work benches from his workshop at home. He enjoyed fishing for haddock and often prepared his catch for neighbors and friends.

Family members say he was a devoted husband, father and son-in-law who cared for his mother-in-law and sister-in-law for years in their home.

One sister and seven brothers died previously.

Surviving are his son, Michael of Ogunquit; two brothers, Normand and Chandler, both of Saco; and many nieces and nephews.

Janet Wadleigh

LIMERICK - Former resident Janet Wadleigh, 74, of Abbot Hill Acres Road in Wilton, N.H., died at her home Saturday.

She was born in Limerick on Dec. 14, 1927, the daughter of Dennis and Emily Richards Aspinall, was a 1945 graduate of Limerick High School and later graduated from Messer Business College of Manchester, N.H.

She had lived in Wilton for the past 40 years.

Her husband, Richard A. Wadleigh, died in 1989.

Survivors include four sons, Steven of New Boston, N.H., Michael of Wilton, David of Hollis and Bruce of Milford, N.H.; two brothers, Samuel Aspinall of South Portland and Gerald Aspinall of Limington; two sisters, Annie (Mrs. George) Thompson of North Branford, Conn. and Florence (Mrs. Robert) Allen of South Berwick; seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry Simpson

BIDDEFORD - Jerry Charles Simpson, 50, of Hercules, Calif., died Sunday.

Born in Biddeford on Oct. 6, 1952, he had been a resident of Hercules for a year, having moved from the East Coast.

He was very proud of his military service, retiring after serving 20 years in the U.S. Army.

Jerry worked the last seven years for the Veterans Administration, six of which he spent in Washington, D.C. and the last year in Oakland, Calif.

He was a family man, spending free time with his children, collecting Hot Wheels, coins and stamps.

Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Debra Ann Risper-Simpson; four children, Cornell Risper III, Ashley, Chelsea and Nathaniel; his mother, Patricia, and stepfather Paul 'Toot' Langlais; father and stepmother, Raymond 'Shrimp' and Carleen; five siblings, Deborah (Mrs. Rodney) Laurendeau, Diana (Mrs. Paul) Legere, Kelly (Mrs. David) Ste. Marie, and Scott, all of Maine, and Pamela (Mrs. Steve) Weinert of New York; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins.

Nellie Hilton

SANFORD - Nellie D. Hilton, 73, of Sanford and Avon Park, Fla., died Tuesday in Avon Park.

Mrs. Hilton was born on July 2, 1929 in Suncook, N.H., the daughter of Xavier and Marie Desrosiers Vezina, and attended Biddeford schools.

For many years, she worked in local dress shops and at the Sanford Healthcare Facility.

Mrs. Hilton led a very active life. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and crafting, camping, and traveling across the entire country. She was an excellent baker, and a special friend of Alfred Mayott of Lebanon.

Mrs. Hilton was an active member of Union Congregational Church in Avon Park.

Her husband, Warren, died in 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Roxanne (Mrs. David) Maleham of Milton Mills, N.H.; two sons, William of Alfred and Gary of Sanford; a brother, Donald Vezina of Acton; a sister, Pauline Gobiel of Biddeford; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
