David Duranceau
July 12-13, 2003
DAYTON - David Michael Duranceau of Green Bay, Wis., formerly of Dayton, died unexpectedly Thursday.

He was born Aug. 12, 1968, to Michael and Conni (Meinke) Duranceau. Though he had lived most of his life in the Green Bay area, he spent time in Maine with his parents and other family members.

He was married on Sept. 17, 1994, to Diane Goehring of Wisconsin.

He was an accomplished artist and graphic designer. He was an avid golfer, family members said, and a great fan of the Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his wife, Diane, and his parents; a brother, Billy; maternal grandparents Fred and Kae Meinke; three uncles, Mark, Timothy and Donald Duranceau; an aunt, Carol Noble; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Leo Paul Gagnon
August 2 - 3, 2003
OCEAN PARK - Leo Paul Gagnon, 75, of Ocean Pines, died Friday at Pine Point Nursing Home in Scarborough.

He was born September 1, 1927 in St. Agatha, the son of Randolph and Alice Lachance Gagnon and was educated in St. Agatha and Biddeford schools.

Mr. Gagnon served with the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He had been employed at various local mills and grocery stores throughout his working life, retiring in 1972.

Mr. Gagnon enjoyed landscaping and gardening, drawing and painting and also cooking. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved animals.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Alfred Marcel and Gerald.

Survivors include two sons, William and Dennis, both of Biddeford; one step-son, Larry Wilson of Biddeford; two brothers, Paul of Biddeford and Real of Old Orchard Beach; one sister, Alexandrine Burnham of Old Orchard Beach; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ethel Gaudette
Ethel Gaudette
SACO Ethel P. Gaudette, 84, of High Street, died Friday at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

She was born May 28, 1919 in Saco, a daughter of George and Blanche Allard Perkins. She graduated from Thornton Academy in 1937.

Mrs. Gaudette was employed by Pepperell Manufacturing in Biddeford for over 30 years.

Earlier in life, she enjoyed swimming and the beach. Later she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be remembered by family and friends for her gracious heart, tender spirit and compassionate soul.

She was a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco.

She was predeceased by her husband Elie Babe Gaudette, in 1957, and also by three brothers, Daniel, George and Perley Perkins.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry M. of Windermere, Fla., Milton Keith of Saco, and Joseph D. of Buxton; two brothers, Frank Perkins of Biddeford and Thomas Perkins of Cape Elizabeth; two sisters, Mary Bertha Connolly of Waltham, Mass. and Elizabeth Bournival of Biddeford; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Anna Forcier
December 6 - 7, 2003
BIDDEFORD - Anna C. Forcier, 99, formerly of Graham St., died Thursday evening at St. Andres Health Care Facility. She was born in Biddeford, May 27, 1904, a daughter of Jean Noel and Claranda Letendre Cyr and was educated locally.

On July 4, 1927, she married Simeon Forcier at St. Andres Church.

She had been employed at York Mfg. Co. for five years and then at Pepperell Mfg. for 21 years.

Mrs. Forcier was a member of St. Josephs Church. She was a member of the Ladies Guild of St. Joseph Parish and the Daughters of Isabella. She had served as president of Our Lady of Victory Circle and president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the C.I.O. She was also active in the Biddeford Joint and Executive Boards of the C.I.O.. For many years, she was involved in the Pepperell and C.I.O. bowling leagues and served as an officer of the Ladies Democratic Club and as an officer and founder of the Biddeford Senior Citizens organization.

She was predeceased by her husband, Simeon Forcier Jan. 9, 1966, and by a son, Paul Forcier in 1992.

Surviving are three sons, Bernard Ben Forcier of Biddeford, Gerard Gerry Forcier of Biddeford, Robert Bob Forcier of Yorktown, Va.; three daughters, Lucille Neault Migueis, Violette (Mrs. Leo) Mercier and Simonne (Mrs. Adrien) Labonte, all of Biddeford; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

MOORE, VINCENT A.
Friday, February 14, 2003
54, of Wentworth Street in Exeter, N. H., died Feb. 10 at his home.

He was born May 17, 1948 in Portland, the son of Elwyn and Katherine Ewald Moore. Formerly of Cumberland, he graduated from Greely High School in 1966 and earned a bachelors degree in Business at the University of Southern Maine. He also formerly resided in Provincetown, Mass. and had moved to Exeter in October 2002.

Mr. Moore served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Veterans for Peace. He sang in the mens choral group in Provincetown and Portsmouth, N. H., and enjoyed gourmet cooking and gardening. He was employed for many years as a manager at Olympia Sports, most recently in Seabrook, N.H.

Survivors include his daughter, Sheilalee of Biddeford; his brother, Theodore of Auburn; and his partner of 11 years, Paul Colcord of Exeter.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 403 Main St., Saco. Spring burial will be held in Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Vietnam Veterans of America, attn.: Joe Sternberg C.F.O., 8605 Cameron St., Silver Springs MD 20910. Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter is handling the arrangements.

Kenneth Laughlin

LIMERICK - Kenneth L. Laughlin, 49, of Central Avenue, died Wednesday at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born in Portland on July 15, 1953, a son of Herbert and Helen Gammon Laughlin, attended local schools and graduated from Massabesic High School in Waterboro.

For 20 years, he worked as a jeweler for Jessup's Jewelry Stores in California, Minnesota, and Massachusetts. He then moved back to Maine and opened The Olde Country Store on Rte. 11 in Limerick, which was the site of his family home and where he grew up.

Mr. Laughlin was very active in the town of Limerick and served on the board of selectman for nine years. He loved and was very knowledgeable about art and sculpture.

He was a practicing Christian Scientist and was very devout in his religious faith.

Surviving are his fiancée, Pamela Lang of Limerick; a brother, Dwight of Tennessee; and several nieces and cousins.

Charles Day

OLD ORCHARD BEACH - Charles Edward Day Jr., 48, of Smith Avenue, died Wednesday at his residence.

He was born in Lynwood, Calif. on Nov. 27, 1955, a son of Charles Sr. and Helen (Walker) Day. He attended Old Orchard Beach schools and graduated in 1973 from Old Orchard Beach High School. He attended the University of Maine at Presque Isle and studied Wildlife Management.

In his younger years, Mr. Day worked at his familys business at Surfside Cabins in Old Orchard Beach. Later, he worked as a conductor at Rigby Yard for Springfield Terminal Railway for 28 years.

He was a member of the York County Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being in the outdoors, reading, and spending time with his family. In April, he celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary in Oahu, Hawaii.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene (Angelosante) Day; one daughter, Shauna and one son, Chaz, both of Old Orchard Beach; one brother, Kenneth of Standish; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jeannette Gagnon

KENNEBUNK - Jeannette Rose Gagnon, 86, of Prospect Street, died Sunday at Kennebunk Nursing Center.

She was born in Biddeford on July 11, 1916, the daughter of Oscar and Almina Perreault Lacourse, and was educated in schools there.

On Nov. 11, 1936, she married Roland R. Gagnon at St. Andres Church in Biddeford. He died in 1987.

She worked for 37 years in shoe manufacturing, spending 32 years with the Bruce Shoe Shop in Biddeford and retiring in 1978.

Mrs. Gagnon was an active member at St. Josephs Church, and enjoyed knitting and sewing.

Two brothers, Adrien Lacourse and Roland Lacourse, and three sisters, Gertrude Gagnon, Yvonne Ledoux and Violet Gagne, died previously.

Survivors include one daughter, Priscilla (Mrs. Edmund) Nadeau of Biddeford; three brothers, Leo Lacourse of Lyman, Sylvio Lacourse of Old Orchard Beach and Patrick Lacourse of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Doris Goulet of Biddeford; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Deering

BUXTON - Former resident Robert W. Bob Deering Sr., 69, of Scarborough, died Monday at his home.

He was born in Buxton on April 1, 1934, a son of Albert and Clara (Storey) Deering, and attended Samuel D. Hansen High School, graduating in 1952.

He married Joan Chase on April 14, 1956.

He retired after working for more than 40 years in the concrete industry at Merrill Transport, Cook Concrete and Boston Sand and Gravel and ending with Dragon. He most recently worked at Bayley Hill Elk Farm in Scarborough.

He was involved in the First Congregational Church of Scarborough and in community activities, Little League, the fire department and Boy Scouts. He enjoyed spending time in his garden and the woods.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert Jr. of Huntersville, N.C. and Gary and Warren, both of Scarborough; four daughters, Barbara, Jacquelyn (Mrs. Mike) Wescott and Janet Kramlich, all of Scarborough, and Angela of Merrimack, N.H.; one brother, three sisters and eight grandchildren.
