Nancy J. Pepin

CORINNA - Nancy Joan Pepin, 57, died March 19, 2008 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston following complications of heart surgery. She was born May 28, 1950 at Wakefield, Rhode Island a daughter of Harvey and Ethel (Binns) Andrews. She graduated from Kingstown (RI) High School and from Rhode Island Junior College with a degree in nursing. She enjoyed helping people as a registered nurse. Nancy was a people person and enjoyed the children under her care as a foster mother. She also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and camping. Nancy was assistant scoutmaster of Troop 51 in Dexter, and had received the Beaver award, scouting’s highest honor for volunteers. She also enjoyed target and skeet shooting. Nancy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Paul R. Pepin, and her son Michael, both of Corinna; 2 brothers, Robert and Allen Andrews, both of Warwick, RI; 3 sisters, Janet Gould of Bethel, Linda Palmisano of Moosup, CT, and Carol Reed of Kingstown, RI; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, March 28th, at Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna, where friends may call from noon until the time of services. The Reverend Sharon Lovejoy will officiate. Burial will be held at 1 PM Monday, March 31st at the Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery, (new cemetery), Augusta. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island; Suite 300; Topsham, ME 04086.

Stanley “Mike“ McFarlin

DETROIT - Stanley “ Mike “ R. McFarlin, 65, died March 7, 2008 at a Bangor hospital. He was born January 12, 1943 at Milford, CT a son of Percy and Bertha (Boulier) McFarlin. Mike was a self employed carpenter and mason in the greater Newport area. He loved to play cribbage, and poker and enjoyed fishing at various locations on road trips “up north”. He is survived by his wife, Gloria (Langley) McFarlin of Detroit; 2 sons, Hank McFarlin of Dixmont and Mike McFarlin of South Portland; 3 daughters, Tammy Harrington, Tina Gallant, and Wendy Smith, all of Bangor; 2 brothers, Percy McFarlin of Frankfort and Mac McFarlin of Etna; 12 grandchildren. There are no services arranged at this time. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. Terrance R. Call

CLINTON & PALMYRA - Terrance Roger Call, 50, died March 8, 2008 at a Bangor hospital from complications following heart surgery. He was born November 8, 1957 at Dover-Foxcroft a son of Reuben and Wealthy (Bowdoin) Call, Jr. Terry attended Nokomis Regional High in Newport into his senior year. He worked in the woods all of his life, driving truck, operating heavy equipment, and most recently working for Linkletter’s in Athens, until he suffered a heart attack while working in the woods. Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He is survived by his mother, Wealthy Shaw of Palmyra; his ex-wife, but only wife, Sherrie, of Fairfield; 2 sons, Jessie Stewart of Wellington and Scott Dyer of Fairfield; a daughter, Amy Arsenault of Fairfield; 5 brothers, Dale and wife Laurie Call of Palmyra, Rex and wife Penny Call of St. Albans, Jeff and wife Sandy Shaw, and James and wife Gina Shaw, all of San Diego, CA, and Dwayne Shaw of Pittsfield; 2 sisters, Nancy and husband George Watson of Palmyra,
Linda and Bill Gogan of Unity; a grandson, Cameron Dyer and grand-daughter Meaghan Arsenault, both of Fairfield; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends called from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services were held at 2 PM Wednesday, March 12th, with the Reverend Ronnie Parker officiating. A spring graveside committal service will be held 11 AM Friday, May 23rd at the family lot, Palmyra Village cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 51 U.S. Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074. Those who wish may also sign an online guest register at www.CrosbyNeal.com

Patricia L. Jordan

SO. GARDINER - Patricia Lynn Jordan, 60, died March 2, 2008, with her husband by her side in their home after her long battle with cancer. She was born November 8, 1947, in Bozeman, Montana, the daughter of Donald W. and Ida J. Green Curtis. Patricia, also known as Trish, was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She retired from Winslow HS as Guidance Director after 33 years in the teaching profession. She graduated with a Master’s of Education degree, focused in Counseling (high honors) from the University of Maine in 1992 and with honors from the University of Maine - Farmington in 1969.
Her interests included sailing, carpentry, sewing, gardening, travel, friends, Reiki, hiking, exploring, cooking, camping, knitting and genealogy.
All her family, friends, and the love of her life meant a great deal to her. She cherished and loved each one. She will be greatly missed.
Patricia is survived by her husband and best friend of 24 years, Gary Paul Jordan of South Gardiner; step-daughter Heather Jordan and grandson Sam Christopher MacGrath of Topsham; step-son Christopher Gary and daughter-in-law Kelly Irene Daly Jordan of Miami, FL; mother and confidant Ida J. Green Curtis of Palmyra; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl G. and Sheila Howland Curtis of Nashua, NH, Gary W. Curtis and Sue MacMillian of Newport, and Richard L. and Celeste Violette Curtis of Bangor; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Thomas Pinkin of Keedysville, MD; nephews Bry, Russ, Garrett, Avery, Chris, Nate, and Cassidy; nieces Carla, Terra, and Haley; wonderful aunts, uncles, a grandnephew and grandniece, cousins, special friends, and neighbors. Patricia was preceded in death by her dear father, Donald William Curtis (Maj. Ret.) of Palmyra; and grandparents Marion Piper White of South Paris, Basil Kinney of Pittsfield, and George A. and Ella Elkins Curtis of Frankfort.
Patricia’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the caregivers at the Harold Alfond Cancer Center.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:30 AM April 5, 2008 at the American Legion Smith Wiley Post 4, 46 Griffin Street, Gardiner ME 04345-2802

Everett C. Smith

TROY - Everett C. Smith, 86. Bud, as he was known to all, left this world to be at peace at long last on March 8, 2008. For ten years he had suffered with COPD, until it was no longer possible to have any quality of life here on this earth. He was a gentle man and never judged anyone. He would help anyone out that needed it and was an honest and good neighbor to all.
Bud was born on October 7, 1921 in Troy, the son of Wilmot and Laura (Tibbetts Parker) Smith. He was the grandson of John Smith and the great grandson of Comfort Smith, who were some of the first settlers of the town of Troy. He graduated from Unity High School in 1938 and made it his life working with his father on the family farm in Troy. For a time he worked at the chair factory in Burnham as a wood scaler. He received his fifty year pin from the Star in the West Lodge #85.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Carol Bell and her husband, Daryl, of Troy; his adoring granddaughter, Karen Bell with her partner, Dwight Stevenson, of Palmyra; his very special great granddaughter, Kendra Bell, who he loved and always will remember; a sister-in-law, Thelma Parker Vroom, of Waterville; a niece, Patty Pellegrino of Pittsfield; and two nephews, Jerry Parker and Steve Miles.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Lena “Mickey” (Howe) Smith, his two sisters, Helen Miles and Elizabeth McMichael, his half-brother, Homer Parker, his brother-in-law, Ernest Miles, and his beloved grandson, Kevin Bell, who died in 1972.
The family wishes to thank all who spent time with him in the nursing home and the people at Sebasticook Valley Nursing Facility who were so generous with him and his needs. Carol needs to acknowledge the great help of her cousins during this time of need as well as the two wonderful people who came into her dad’s life to make a difference, Scott and Malika of Troy. You all made this a bearable trip.
A graveside service will be held at the Rogers cemetery in Troy in the spring.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield.

Delora (Jackson) Jones

LONG BEACH, CA - Delora (Jackson) Jones, passed away March 10, 2008. She was born on November 26, 1936 in Plymouth, Maine, daughter of Elwood and Edna (Whitney) Jackson. She attended Plymouth and Newport schools. She moved to California at the age of 19. She is survived by her brother, Oshan (Red) Jackson and his wife, Linda of Newport and her sister, Arlene Hersey of Corinna, nieces, Laurieann Jackson and Teresa (Jackson) Stevens of Newport and Brenda Currier of Plymouth, and nephew, Philip Hersey of Dixmont. She is also survived by a special friend Tom Warner of Lakewood, CA. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Jones, her parents, and two brothers, Linwood and Leander. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Long Beach, CA on Tuesday, March 18, 2008.

Walter A. Vetter

SANGERVILLE - Walter A. (November 1, 1922 - May 2, 2008), formerly of Seaford, NY, retired to Sangerville, Maine. Cherished by his daughter, Gail Santiago. Devoted grandfather of Michelle, Allison, Andrew, Debra, Karl and Erik. Proud great-grandfather of Madeline and Owen. A true patriot, he served his country in WWII in the European Theater with the 731st Field Artillery Battalion from D-Day to V-E Day. Upon his return he built, through hard work and dedication, a successful contracting business for over 40 years. Walter will always be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor and devotion to his family. We miss you, Pop!

Beverly Jane Gallison

NEWPORT - Beverly Jane Gallison, 73, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 13th at Sebasticook Valley Hospital. She was born July 4, 1934 in Dover-Foxcroft a daughter of Marshall Walker Spaulding and Hazel Electa (Hewett) Spaulding. Bev grew up in Dover-Foxcroft and graduated from Foxcroft Academy. She worked for nearly 40 years for Dr. John P. Dow in Pittsfield until she retired in December 1997. Bev and her husband Mike enjoyed traveling all over the eastern seaboard, and also visited all of the Maine lighthouses. They settled in Florida several years ago where Mike passed away. Within the past year she moved back home to be closer to family. Bev enjoyed watching all sports and listened to country music. She was a night owl, staying up all hours of the night to watch a Red Sox game. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula Cyr of Palmyra; her son Jeff Gallison of Sarasota, FL; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer Hanson and husband Jon, and Jessica Mills, all of Palmyra; 2 sisters, Irma Knowles of Newport, with whom she shared an apartment for the past year, and Charlene Page of Dexter; 3 brothers, Marshall Spaulding of Topsham, Aubrey Spaulding of Bow, NH, and Harlan Spaulding and wife Phyllis of Dover-Foxcroft; great grandchildren, Sydney Hanson and Austin Mills, both of Palmyra; many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a special nephew and friend, Jay Cole of Sarasota, FL. Beverly was predeceased by her husband Lyle “Mike” Gallison; a sister, Maxine Cole; a brother Merle Spaulding; and great granddaughter Catherine Mills.
She will be greatly missed by her family and many, many friends.
A graveside committal service was held at 9 AM on Saturday, May 17th at Pine Grove cemetery, Hartland. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, 51 U.S. Route 1, Suite M; Scarborough, ME 04074.

Charles (Chuck) Bressette

ST. ALBANS - Charles (Chuck) Bressette, 35, formerly of Hartland, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 at his residence.
He was born in Brunswick on November 26, 1972, the son of Charles Keith and Lorraine Keith Bressette.
Chuck grew up in Hartland and attended schools in both Hartland and Newport. As a child he loved to play the guitar with his brother Kenny and his step-dad. He enjoyed camping, bass fishing and dickering. He enjoyed music and riding around the backroads. He was always taking things apart and putting them back together again. He enjoyed working on his vehicles and just tinkering with things in general. He was a very loving person and if he thought you needed something he would give it to you. He always had a smile and a laugh to share with you.
He is survived by his parents; Lorraine Bressette, of Hartland and Charles Keith, his grandmother, Myrtle Goud of Dexter; his brothers Vern Bressette of Pittsfield, Brad Bressette and Kenny Bressette both of Dexter; Charles Keith and Dana Keith both of Durham, his sisters, Laria (Toots) Chase and her husband, Clint, of Burnham; Denise Keith of Bath; his girlfriend Christy Emerson and her daughter, Courtney Sprague, of St. Albans; and his many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Rinda (Lee) Neil and his stepfather, Kenneth Bressette.

Doris B. Anderson

DIXMONT - Doris Bernice Anderson, 77, passed away peacefully, April 30, 2008 at her home in Dixmont. Doris was born in Caribou, April 3, 1931 to the late Thomas and Rosanna (Ouelette) Pelletier.
Doris was a stay at home mom, enjoyed raising her children, cooking, crocheting, knitting, and several other crafts and handy works of many kinds. She was a fierce and competitive Yatzee player, doing most anything to win. Doris will be remembered for having a big heart and as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Doris is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Harry D. Anderson of Dixmont, four children, Cindi McNutt and husband Michael of Houlton, Jeannie Anderson of Bangor, Thomas Anderson of Manchester, NH, and Gayle Flye of Newport, three grandchildren, Cameron and Michael McNutt of Houlton, and Jaclyn Flye of Newport, five sisters, Leona and Vernon Chabre` of Glenburn who will be forever grateful to Doris and Harry for allowing her to grow up with their family, Cecile Cyr of Hamlin, Maureen Beaulieu of Grand Falls, NB, Alvina Pelletier of Caribou, Lena Pelletier of Hartford, CT, one brother Phillip Pelletier of North Carolina, one special niece, Kelly Chabre`, two special nephews, Michael and Jayson Chabre`, as well as many other special nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her parents, and nine brothers and sisters.
In keeping with Doris’s wishes, funeral services will be private. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic cemetery, Bangor. Memorial contributions in Doris’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 51 US Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074. Leslie C. Campbell

CORINNA & ST. ALBANS - Leslie Charles Campbell, 86, died April 21, 2008. He was born September 9, 1921 in Washburn a son of Fred and Tressa (Thompson) Campbell. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and later in the European Theatre Army of Occupation. He was a self employed electrician and also worked at Irving Tanning Company in Hartland before retirement. He was a longtime resident of St. Albans and had resided in Corinna for the past 20 years. He enjoyed gardening, a good game of horseshoes, and spending time with his family and friends. Leslie was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Levesque) Campbell, who predeceased him September 25, 2005. He is survived by a son Ryan and wife Connie Campbell of Manchester, NH; 3 daughters, Barbara and husband Michael Marcia of Newport, Teresa Allen and friend Ed Horan of Harmony, Kathy and husband Gerald Morgan of Plano, TX; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Belmaine of Caribou; a sister in law, Mabel Campbell of Hartland; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Kelly and husband Rob Veazie and their children, Jenna and Justin and wife Krystal, all of Corinna, Kim and husband Mark McCue of Newport, Kevin and wife Faith and their son Tyler, all of Corinna, Darren Greene and friend Kandace Bates of Palmyra, Darrin and wife Diana and their children Connor and Brad, all of Etna, Dustin Allen and three children, Casey, Stacey and Jonathan, all of Corinna, Gina Carr and her children, Alex and Jared, all of Plano, TX, Shana and husband Andy Kimball and their children, Aiden and Gracie, all of Allen, TX, Vanessa and Rachael Campbell of Manchester, NH. Friends may call from 9 to 11 AM Wednesday, April 30th, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. A graveside funeral and committal service will be held 1 P.M. Wednesday at Pine Grove cemetery, Hartland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.

Beatrice (Whiting) Stevens

EXETER - Beatrice Louise (Whiting) Stevens, 94, passed away April 20, 2008 at a Dexter health care facility. She was born October 7, 1913 in Carmel a daughter of John and Blanche (Colman) Whiting. She was a member of the Exeter Full Gospel Church for many years. She retired from the Snowflake Canning Company in Corinna when it was destroyed by fire. Bea is survived by 2 sons, Ronald and wife Vivian, Dennis and wife Carma Stevens, all of Exeter; 3 daughters, Geraldine Fernald of Bangor, Pauline and husband Edward Hoover of Kennebunkport, and Elizabeth Kominski and fiancé Mark Crandall of Westbrook; a sister, Leola and husband “Buster” Dean of Machias; 13 grandchildren; many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford A. Stevens, Sr. on September 15, 1981.
Funeral services were held at 1 PM on Tuesday, April 22nd, at Exeter Full Gospel Church, with the Reverend Chris Faloon officiating. Burial was in North Newport cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Exeter Full Gospel Church, P.O. Box 24, Exeter, ME 04435. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna.

Antoinette Frenette

Athens - Antoinette Frenette, 85, formerly of Hartland, died peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the Cedar Ridge Center in Skowhegan.
She was born in New York on October 20, 1922, the daughter of Erasmo and Rose Dattoma.
Antoinette was educated in the New York school system and worked as an accountant and IBM machine operator. She retired from IKG as a switchboard operator. She was a traditional Italian grandmother who loved her family and loved to cook for them. She was famous for her manicotti.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosanne Towle and her husband, Harold, of Palmyra, her son, Vincent Frenette and his wife, Sherri, of Ossian, IN; her 10 grandchildren, Randi Tortoreo of WA, Jennifer Deckert of WA, Gabriel Petrucelly of Palmyra, Sara Sides of Hartland, Michael, Enoch, Hosanna, and Mary Petrucelly of Palmyra, Belinda Kaufman of IN, and Justin Frenette of VA, and 9 great grandchildren, Kelsey, Cassandra, Gabrielle, Brooklyn, Mara, Erin, Anthony, River and Kayla.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Frenette in 1996; two brothers and two sisters.
A graveside service will be held at the Palmyra Village cemetery with the Reverend Tim Pemper officiating in the spring.
Arrangements are entrusted to Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield.
