Ruth E. Griffin

CORINNA - Ruth Elizabeth Griffin, 99, died August 13, 2008 at a Pittsfield health care facility. She was born May 12, 1909 at Glassville, New Brunswick, Canada, a daughter of William and Agnes (Ball) Lindsay. She graduated from Corinna Union Academy and had been employed for many years at Eastland Woolen Mill retiring in 1975. She is survived by a sister in law, Grace Lindsay of Pittsfield; and a special niece, Erlene Frost, also of Pittsfield; several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George Griffin; and two brothers, Donald and Earl Lindsay. A graveside funeral and committal service was held 2 PM Friday, August 15th, at Morses Corner cemetery, Corinna. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna.

Michael S. Petrucelly

PALMYRA - Michael S. Petrucelly, 24, died unexpectantly, Sunday, August 10, 2008.
He was born on January 1, 1984 in Palmyra, the son of Vincent Petrucelly and Rosanne Towle. He graduated from Hartland Christian School and received his associate’s degree in criminal justice from Beal College in Bangor.
He was employed by Skills, Inc, working in Newport. Michael was a very social person. He just enjoyed hanging out and being with friends. He liked basketball and was enjoying his recently purchased dirt bike.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Rosanne and Harold Towle of Palmyra; 5 sisters, Randi Tortoreo of WA, Jenifer Deckert and her husband, Donald of WA, Sara Sides and her husband, Greg of Hartland, Hosanna Petrucelly and Mary Petrucelly, both of Palmyra; 2 brothers, Gabriel Petrucelly and his wife, Laura of Palmyra and Enoch Petrucelly of Palmyra; 5 nieces, Kelsey, Cassandra, Gabrielle, Brooklyn and Meagan; a nephew, Bryce; his paternal grandmother, Euleria Restaino of Long Island, NY; Uncle Vincent Frenette and his wife, Sherry of IN; Aunt Henrietta Hartman and her husband, Dennis of Long Island, NY; Uncle Tom Petrucelly and his wife, Gretchen of Spokane, WA; Uncle Ronald Restaino of CA and many much loved cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Vincent Petrucelly and his grandparents, Eugene and Antoinette Frenette.
A Celebration of Life was held at 11 AM, Saturday, August 16th, 2008 at the Hartland Baptist Church, 10 Elm Street, Hartland with Steve Hersey officiating. A committal service followed at the Palmyra Village cemetery, Warren Hill Road, Palmyra. Friends are invited to a gathering at the Hartland Baptist Church Fellowship Hall following the committal.
Arrangements are entrusted to Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield.

Nancy J. Craig

HARTLAND - Nancy Craig, 58, died unexpectedly July 30th, 2008 at her residence. She was born June 27, 1949 at Montpelier, Vermont a daughter of Rockwell and Anna (Maurer) Craig. She graduated from Turner’s Falls High School. She had been living for 10 years with her brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Carlene Craig. In addition to them, she is survived by 4 nephews, Edward, Jr. of Greenfield, MA, Andrew and wife Julie of Northfield, MA, Kendrick of Troy, NH, and Eric of Miller’s Falls, MA. Private family committal services will be held in Woodsville, NH. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.

Donna Lee (Gustin) Gerry

PITTSFIELD & WINTER HAVEN, FL - Donna Gerry, died unexpectedly August 1, 2008 surrounded by her two sons Kenneth and Steven Gerry, Jr. and the love of her life Steven Gerry, Sr. She was born May 3, 1952 in New Haven, CT a daughter of Aldine and Delores (Doak) Gustin. Donna attended Nokomis Regional High in Newport and later was a certified nurses aide. She worked in Florida for a bridal and women’s apparel company. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by 4 sisters, Cassilena Gustin of Palmyra, Sheryl Wyman of Pittsfield, Faith-Ann Boen of Newport and Lonna MacDonald of Plymouth; 3 brothers, Robin Gustin of Corinna, Lee and Arthur Gustin, both of Dexter; 3 grandsons; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2 PM Saturday, August 16th at the Etna Foursquare Church. Memorial donations may be made to the church Deacon Discretionary Fund, c/o Etna Foursquare Church, 1116 Lakins Road, Etna, ME 04434.

Sally E. Brumm

Pittsfield, formerly of Dover-Foxcroft - Sally E. Brumm, 51, went home to be with her Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Dover-Foxcroft on September 10, 1956, the daughter of Donald and Dorothy (Grant) Bell. She was educated in Dover-Foxcroft schools and graduated from Kennebec Valley Community College with a degree in early childhood development.
Sally was family orientated. She had a special love for all children and had great pleasure in teaching them. She was employed by the Manson Park School for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, watching the cooking shows and shopping on QVC. She loved Aruba and had a wonderful time vacationing there.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, David Brumm; her mother-in-law, Joyce Larrabee and her husband, Carl, of Dexter; her two brothers, Robert Bell and his wife, Judith, of Dexter and James Bell Sr. and his wife, Olivia, of Dexter; her two sisters, Louise Dulac of Dover-Foxcroft and Susan Russotti and her husband, Michael, of Rochester, NY; her sisters-in law, Debra Morrell of Charlestown, NH, Kathi Snide of Springfield, VT, Donna Maynard and her husband, John, of Charleston and Gina Bills of Pittsfield; her brother-in law, Phillip Ray Batchelder and his wife, Viola, of Dover-Foxcoft; very special friends, Steve and Colleen Martin, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thank you to the MSAD #53 district for all their love and support during Sally’s illness.
She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Katy Leeann Brumm and her parents.
At the request of the family there was no visiting hours, but a celebration of life was held at 1 PM, Tuesday, August 5th, 2008 at the First Free Baptist Church, 130 Spring Street, Dexter with the Rev. Will Walters officiating. A reception followed at the Broken Putter Restaurant, 386 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A committal service was held at 11 AM, Saturday, August 9th, 2008 at the Pine Grove cemetery, corner of Notch and French Road, Dover-Foxcroft.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 2141 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 7000, El Segundo, CA 90245 or online at www.pancan.org in Sally’s memory.

Margaret A. Haskell

DEXTER - Margaret Agnes (Cobb) Haskell passed away peacefully August 6, 2008 from complications of respiratory disease at home surrounded by her family. She was born May 27, 1930 in Delhousie, New Brunswick, a daughter of Francis Freeman and Phyllis R. (Worden) Cobb.
She attended Becker Junior College and spent almost 35 years working at Dexter Shoe Company. She also did volunteer work at the office of Dr. Challa Reddy. Margaret was a communicant of St. Annes Catholic Church. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, sewing, and quilting.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by 3 sisters, Delores Denise Leighton, Thelma Marie Pomeroy, Katherine Theresa Cobb; brother, Joseph Raymond Cobb; infant daughter, Patricia Laurene Haskell; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Bagley; 2 brother-in-laws, Edwin Leighton and John Giambusso.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lawrence M. Haskell, Sr. of Dexter; 3 daughters, Bonnie Jean Bagley and husband Roy of Gray; Patricia Frazier and husband Scott of Bucksport; Lynn Marie (Manson) Bailey and husband Jason of Waterville; a son, Lawrence M. Haskell, Jr. and wife Cathy of Sangerville; a sister Clara Doreen Giambusso of Palm Springs, California; 3 brothers Francis F. Cobb, Jr (Bud) and wife Sylvia of Salem, Massachusetts; John and wife Neva Cobb of Corinna; Robert (Bob) Cobb and wife Joan of Newfoundland, Canada; grandchildren: Shaun M. Frazier and wife Kim of Bucksport, Karen Bagley of Medford, Massachusetts, Mark Bagley and wife Diana of Townsend, Massachusetts, Keith Bagley and wife Alison of Leominster, Massachusetts, Samantha Howard and husband Brian of Sangerville, Hogan Haskell of Sangerville, Kyle Manson of Waterville; great-grandchildren: Madison Frazier and Courtney Killinger of Bucksport, Hannah and Nick Bagley and Evelyn and Noah Bagley of Massachusetts, Hilary and Grant Howard of Sangerville; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as friends, relatives, and neighbors who helped provide friendship and care.
A graveside service will be held 10 AM Monday August 11, 2008 at Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dexter, with Deacon Frederick Harrigan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maine SIDS Foundation, 14 Charlonate Drive, Gray, ME 04039; or to the Sunshine Club of Dexter, c/o Mrs. Nancy Baldwin, 59 Acadia Street, Dexter, ME 04930.
Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.

Richard Noyes Cook

Zephyrhills, FL - Richard Noyes Cook, Sr., entered into rest July 14, 2008 at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills after a short illness.
He was born in Livermore, ME on November 10, 1924 to Rossie Luella Noyes Cook and Percy Floyd Cook. He graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1943. Following high school, Richard worked for his parents at their family farm in Livermore. He also worked for Turner & Ridley, was a store rep/manager for Wirthmore Feeds and eventually became a store manager for Agway, Inc. He was a 50 year member of Oriental Star Lodge #21 of Livermore Falls, a 50 year member of Washburn Chapter of Livermore Falls & Bethlehem Chapter #36 of Pittsfield. He was a noble of Kora Temple Shrine and a member of the Second Section, Lewiston. He retired in November of 1986 and wintered at Settler’s Rest R.V. Park in Zephyrhills. He was very active in the park serving as president for 4 years as well as other committees. He and his wife cleaned trailers and did janitorial work for the recreation hall for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Mosher) Cook - they would have been married 50 years on August 11; his seven children; Donna Rowell and husband, Larry of Hartland, Douglas Cook and wife, Mary of Pittsfield, David Cook and Pixie Nolan of Belfast, Debra Cook of Custer, WA, Diane Howard and husband David of Bradenton, FL, Darlene Campbell and Robert West of Pittsfield, and Richard Cook and wife, Jodi of Pittsfield; 14 grandchildren, Heidi, Michelle and Eric Rowell, Honesty and Delight Cook, Charles and Jessica Shaw, David II, Adam, and Jason Cook, Joshua Campbell, Amber Connors and Elizabeth Cook, and Mary Howard; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Reginald.
A Masonic service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the Village cemetery, Peltoma Ave., Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital, Kora Temple, 11 Sabattus St., Lewiston, ME 04240 in Richard’s memory.

Francis E. Roberts

CORINNA - Francis E. Roberts, 71, died July 19, 2008 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born April 30, 1937 at Pittsfield a son of Herman and Clara (Wood) Roberts, Sr. He graduated from Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1957, and served in the U.S. Army. At the time of his death he was employed by Corinne’s Cleaning Service doing janitorial work at doctor’s offices. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Priscilla (Cooley) Roberts of Corinna; a son, Amos Adams, currently deployed in Kuwait City; a daughter, Heather and husband Angel Rivera of Hampden; and 6 brothers, including Herman Roberts, Jr. of Corinna; and a special granddaughter, Clara. A graveside committal service with military honors was held at 11 AM Friday, July 25th, at Nutter cemetery, Corinna, with the Rev. Robert Herring officiating. .

Paul L. Stone

EXETER - Paul L. Stone, 87, died July 21, 2008 at home after a short illness. He was born September 8, 1920 in Garland, a son of Leonard and Clara (Butters) Stone. Paul was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He farmed all his life in Exeter. Paul was an avid snowmobiler who spent many hours dragging and maintaining trails after his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife Helen (Field) Stone and his brother R. Lee Stone.
He is survived by three sons, Paul R. Stone and wife Ellen, Leonard J. Stone, G. Dean Stone and wife Leslee, all of Exeter; 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. At Paul's request there will be no services. Private burial will be in Exeter Center cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Pine Tree Camp, P.O. Box 518, Bath, ME 04530. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna.

Ione (Austin) Donnell

PITTSFIELD - Ione Donnell, 70, passed away at home on March 4, 2009, with her family by her side after recently finding that she had lung cancer.
She was born March 20, 1938, in Skowhegan, a daughter of Donald and Elizabeth (Loomis) Austin. Ione was raised in Pittsfield by Oral and Vanessa Pomeroy along with their two children. She had been employed since age 16 for 35 years in area shoe shops. She also worked at the Cianbro office, Somerset Laundry, as a house cleaner, and as cleaner at the Pittsfield Community Theater for 10 years until her retirement.
Ione will be remembered for her work ethic and heart of gold. She lived life to the fullest doing the things she loved with family and friends. Her family was the first priority in her life. She was also an avid bingo player.
Ione is survived by her companion of 36 years, Ralph Langley; her three children, Maria Farmer and her husband, Michael, of Detroit, Danny Donnell and his fiancée, Katie Thill, of Colorado, and Jack "Scott" and his fiancée, Jerri Juzba, of Massachusetts; Ralph's three children, Randy and his wife, Julie, Michelle and her husband, Bill, all of Monmouth, and Renee of Missouri; 11 grandchildren, P.J., Sheena, Ben, Nicholas, Nicole, Kara, Dakota, Elizabeth, Gage, Mason and Konnor; and two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Keon.
She was predeceased by her ex-husband, Ray Donnell, "all" of her parents, and her brother, Irving Austin.
Memorial services will take place at 4 p.m. March 20 at the First Congregational Church in Pittsfield. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may sign an online guest register and leave written tributes at www.CrosbyNeal.com.

William Smith, Sr.

DEXTER - William Edward Smith, Sr., 87, died February 28, 2009, at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. He was born December 12, 1921, in Virginia.
He came to Maine in the early forties, and started working for Bath Iron works. Bill later moved to Dexter and worked for Fay Scott Landis. He met and married the love of his life, Marie Clukey whom he married in June 2, 1945, and they lovingly raised six children. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. In the mid eighties he retired and learned to play golf, which became his second passion after his family.
He is survived by 2 sons, William Smith Jr. and his wife, Phyllis of TX, Anthony Smith and his companion, Holly of FL; 3 daughters, Christine Pooler and her husband, Carroll, Cynthia Cyr, Michele Smith and her companion, Rick all of Dexter; 11 grandchildren including his little buddy, Joshua; 10 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Richard Clukey and his wife, Mary of CT; also all of his girls at Bud’s.
He was predeceased by his wife in 1993, a daughter, Nancy (Smith) Burton in 1964, a grandson, Matthew Pooler in 2000, a granddaughter, Amanda Cyr in 2001.
Friends may call Tuesday, March 3, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street in Dexter. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Dexter.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to the Matt Pooler Memorial Playground Fund, c/o Town of Dexter, 23 Main Street, Dexter, ME 04930, or to Amanda Cyr Scholarship Fund, c/o Dexter Regional High School, Abbot Hill Road, Dexter, ME 04930.

Delores C. Nichols

Detroit - Feb. 12, 1933 to Feb. 27, 2009.
Delores C. Nichols, 76, passed away at her home surrounded by family and friends on the morning of February 27, 2009.
She was predeceased by son, William (Gibby) Vais and a loving nephew, Kevin W. Mooney.
Delores worked for a number of years at Northeast Shoe, Edwards Company and Eastland Woolen Mill until their closing. During her retirement years she worked at Palmyra Walmart where she enjoyed greeting smiling faces.
Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, canning and flowers.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Gilbert J. Nichols of Detroit, 2 sons, Ronald Vais of Enterprise, AL and Duayne Vais of Detroit, a daughter Brenda Temple and fiancé Kirk Taylor of Exeter, stepchildren Diana Perkins of Tennessee and Jefferey Nichols of Burnham, as well as her sister, Norma Mooney of Rogers, CT. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
A spring burial will be announced.
