Kerry D. Dunton

Hartland - Kerry D. Dunton, 63, died, Sunday, February 21, 2010, in Hartland.
Kerry was born in Hartland on July 10, 1946, the son of Herbert and Vivian (Cool) Dunton. He graduated from Hartland Academy with the class of 1964. He worked for the Irving Tanning Company in Hartland for many years.
Kerry was a quiet man and an avid reader. He enjoyed watching sports with his favorite teams being the Boston Red Sox and New York Giants. In his younger years, he belonged to the Pittsfield Bowling Leagues. He lived in Hartland almost all of his life and took care of his parents for over 25 years.
He is survived by his son, Michael Dunton and his wife, Lucie, of Berlin, NH; his daughter, Katrina Dunton and her companion, Adam Parker, of Hartland; his grandchildren, Brandi Davis, Zachary Dunton, Nicholas Howe, Amanda Zeitler, and Samantha Howe; his great grandchildren, Jaidyn and Damien; his sister, Rhonda Amsden; his 2 step sisters, Betty Butler and Carol Leavitt and his step brother, Kenneth Dunton.
He was predeceased by his parents and his step brother, Gene Dunton.
Care for the Dunton family has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield.

Theresa (Terry) Butler

Theresa (Terry) Butler, died peacefully at home, February 19. She was born in Newark, New Jersey July 4, 1946, the daughter of the late Viola and Igino Gregori. Terry was predeceased by her husband Richard Butler. She is survived by her loving partner, Carroll Libby, sisters Gloria Morriello and husband Michael, Virginia Panicucci and husband Mario, nephews Michael Morriello and wife Lucinda, Eugene Morriello and wife Sherry, Gregori Morriello and wife Cynthia, niece Marianne Panicucci and husband Enrique Troncoso Terry will be sadly missed by longtime friends Eugene Alexsa, Cindy White and the “Baxter Escape Girls”.

Anne E. Peterson

SAINT ALBANS - Anne E. Peterson, 93, passed away February 3, 2010, at the Sanfield Rehab. and Living Center in Hartland, Maine.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ann M. Wood and her husband George of Derry. NH, three sons, Victor H. Peterson and his wife Karen of Falmouth, John L. Peterson of Saint Albans and George Eric Peterson and his wife JoAnne of Bow, NH. Also, there are seven grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, George H. Peterson in April of 2000.
A memorial service will be held in the spring or early summer.

Madeline L. Sedgwick

BURNHAM - Madeline L. Sedgwick, 92, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, in Pittsfield.
She was born in Detroit, Maine, on July 12, 1917, the daughter of Burton and Frances (Robinson) Fogg. She attended local schools and married Guy S. Sedgwick. She was employed at L.L. Bean and then at the local area shoe shops for many years doing fancy shoe stitchery.
Madeline enjoyed being outdoors. She was an avid fisherman and liked swimming, camping, traveling and working in her gardens. She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. She belonged to the Pittsfield bowling league and was very active in the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dexter.
She is survived by her two daughters; Kathleen Clark and her husband, David, of Newport and Gloria Huff and her husband, Ralph, of Burnham; her son, Brenton Sedgwick and his wife, Diane, of Hendersonville, NC; her grandchildren; Ralph Huff, Jr and his wife, Darlene, Blaine Huff and his wife, Rachel, Gail Cropley and her husband, David, Andrew Bouley, Jr and his wife, Kathy, Fred Bouley and his wife, Cheryle, Robert Bouley and his fiancé, Sandra, Kathy Bane and her husband, William, Ann Elias and her husband, Dean, and Jani Meekma and her husband, Steve; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, a special cousin, Effie Drake, and many extended family.
She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Guy Sedgwick and her brother, William Fogg.
The family received friends from 1 to 2 PM, Sunday, February 21, 2010, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A funeral service immediately followed at 2 PM with Pastor Brenton Sedgwick officiating. A committal service will be held in the spring at the Village cemetery, Peltoma Avenue in Pittsfield.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be given to the Sebasticook Valley Hospital, 447 North Main Street, Pittsfield, Maine, 04967 or to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 103 Spring Street, Dexter, Maine, 04930, in Madeline’s memory.
Care for the Sedgwick family has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

David R. Covel

GUILFORD - David R. Covel, 68, went to be with the Lord, February 14, 2010. He was born July 31, 1941, in Dexter, son of Arthur and Ruth (Lee) Covel.
He worked for Dexter Shoe Company in Dexter for almost 40 years. After moving to Riverbend Homes in Guilford he enjoyed gardening, using his computer and helping the other residents, and leaves many friends. David loved family gatherings and spending time at camp. He was a member of the Guilford Center Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother of Dover-Foxcroft; a daughter, Heather Briggs of Bangor; a son, Sean Covel and his wife, Diane of Northford, CT; 2 brothers and their wives, Stephen and Mary Covel of Sangerville, and Timothy and Carol Covel of Holly Springs, NC; 4 grandchildren, Kayla and Zachary Briggs, and Ian and Erik Covel; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, February 27, 2010, at the Guilford Center Baptist Church with Pastor Toby Smitherman officiating.
Friends may call from 1 PM until the time of the service. Spring burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Dexter. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Guilford.

Kelly Marie (Hubbard) Kelley

MORRILL - Kelly Marie (Hubbard) Kelley died peacefully in her sleep at her home with family and friends at her bedside on January 27, 2010. She fought a courageous four year battle against cancer. Kelly was 38 years old.
Kelly was a fun, friendly, family-oriented person. Her smile, spirit and steadiness attracted her to many diverse people. She loved softball, volleyball, traveling, crafts, movies, watching television, spending time with her family, and going to yard sales. She was and will remain “DADDY’S LITTLE GIRL.”
Kelly leaves behind her parents, Chet W. and Pat F. Hubbard of Newport; her loving husband, Chris Kelley, her 7 year old son, Christopher and her 5 year old daughter, Kaitlyn, all of Morrill. She is also survived by her brother, William E. Hubbard and his wife, Sabbatha A. of Norridgewock and their three sons, Kenikki, Dallas and Trey Hutchinson; her grandmother, Arvella Jones of Palmyra; aunt Carlie Towle of Londonderry, NH; aunt Sue Hubbard of St. Albans; great aunt Ardis Page of Fort Fairfield; great aunt Celia Hewins of Hartland; aunt Glorine Jones of Palmyra; aunt Hazel and Bob Garofoli of Camden; aunt Eldora and Winston Burns of Delaware; aunt Charlene and Dan McConkie of Utah; uncle Charlie and Arlene Jones of Palmyra; uncle Mike and Becky Jones of Newport; lifelong family friends, Rose, Lee and Hollee Hutchinson, as well as numerous cousins. She will be missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Edward and Ina Hubbard, her grandfather, William Jones and an uncle, Mel Hubbard.
The Hubbard and Kelley families want to thank all the medical personnel from Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Belfast Hospital and Belfast Hospice for their caring support. A special thank you to all the family members, friends and people who offered prayers, support and encouragement during Kelly’s illness.
The family received friends from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm, Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A funeral service was held at 2:00pm, Sunday, January 31, 2010, at the funeral home. Following the funeral service there was be a “CELEBRATION OF LIFE” ceremony at the Irving Community Center, 62 Elm Street in Hartland.
Care for the Hubbard-Kelley family has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

Ella M. (Goodridge) Blevins

KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA - Ella died at the age of 89 at a Florida hospital on January 6, 2010. She was born June 18, 1920 in Wellington.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Dana H. Goodridge and a son, Harold L. Goodridge. She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy and her husband Roland Herrick of Cambridge, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in the spring at the Veterans cemetery in Augusta.

C. Wayne Spraggins

NEWPORT - Wayne Spraggins, 71, died peacefully January 16, 2010 surrounded by his family at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born December 28, 1938 in Wauchula, Florida, a son of Cecil E. and Wilma (Smith) Spraggins.
He served for 20 years in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Boatswain’s Mate before moving to Newport in 1977. He worked as a mechanic at Pray’s Gulf Station, and an oil burner technician for Shorey’s Oil Company, both in Newport, and retired from Staple’s Oil Company in Pittsfield. He was a member of Barrrows-Skidgel Post American Legion in Newport and served on several Newport committees, including the Newport Sanitary District and the Board of Selectmen. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. Wayne especially looked forward to the annual fishing trips to Long Pond and the family hunting camp in Palmyra.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marjorie of Newport; 3 sons, Jim Spraggins and wife Lisa of Newport, Ed Chase and wife Adrienne of Topsham, Michael Chase and wife Robin of Palmyra; a brother Royce of Georgia; a sister Joanne Mann of Oklahoma; an aunt Odell McGee of Florida; special niece Kim Spraggins, and sister in law Janice Spraggins, both of Tennessee; grandchildren, Tracy Clifton and husband Rob of Newport, Eileen Chase and husband Joel of Bangor, Christy Chase of Exeter, Ben and Nick McNeal of Topsham, Jaime and Nate Spraggins of Newport, and Katelyn-Rose Chase of Palmyra; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Wayne is also remembered by special friends Dick Savageau of Palmyra and Jeff Peabody of Newport.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Turnbull and a brother James Spraggins.
Friends may call from 6- 8 PM Tuesday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 1 PM Wednesday, January 20th, with the Rev. George Finnemore officiating.

Kale T. Page

PALMYRA - Kale Talon Page 19 died unexpectedly Jan. 15, 2010 at a Bangor hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident earlier in the day. Kale was born in Waterville March 22, 1990 the son of Robert M. and Catherine (Hodgdon) Page Sr. Kale was educated in Palmyra schools and attended Nokomis Regional High School in Newport. He had been employed at Northeast Agriculture in Palmyra and until just recently he was employed at Bangor Canvas. Kale enjoyed anything with an engine and he could make almost anything into a recreational vehicle that he could use summer or winter. He loved hunting and fishing and he especially loved being with his many friends. Kale is survived by his parents Robert and Catherine Page of Palmyra, his maternal grandparents Roger and Doris Hodgdon of Troy, his paternal grandmother, Mary Page of Palmyra, two brothers Robert and his wife Mary-Anna Page II of Anson, Aaron R. Page of Palmyra, two nieces Daisy May and Willow Marie Page of Anson, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be missed by his K-9 companions Otto and Duke. Friends called Monday January 18, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the Brown Funeral Home and cremation Service Center 34 High Street Newport. Funeral services were conducted at 11am on Tuesday June 19, 2010 at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center Newport. Immediately following the service there was a time of fellowship at the Palmyra Town Hall. Nancy Worcester

ST. ALBANS - Nancy Worcester, 67, daughter of Halbert W. and Hannah M. Reed, formerly of Hanson, Massachusetts, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at her home.
Nancy (Nan) was born on May 18, 1942, in Alexandria, Virginia. She attended local schools in Hanson and graduated from Whitman-Hanson Regional High School in 1960. She married Clif Y. Worcester on December 22, 1961 and they had two daughters.
She and her family moved to Maine in 1977 and have made their home in St. Albans ever since. Nan was a long time Maine State employee, working at the Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center in Bangor.
She is survived by her daughters, Don-Marie Jennings of St. Albans and Tracy Worcester of Ypsilanti, MI; her granddaughter, Airman 1st class, Nicole Jennings, USAF, who is stationed at McConnell AFB in Wichita, KS; a brother, Norman (Pete) Reed and his wife, Janet, of Halifax, MA and two nephews, Bruce Standish of carver, MA and Barry Standish of Pembroke, MA.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clif Worcester, in 1995 and her long-time companion, Philip Emery in 2009.
An open house was held from 4:00 pm-9:00 pm, Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at Nancy’s home, 67 Hartland Road in St. Albans.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Pine Grove cemetery in Hartland with the Rev. Ellen Bridge officiating.
Care for the Worcester family has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

Marguerite (Haseltine) Lane

NEWPORT & BANGOR - Marguerite Lane, 86, wife of the late Lt. Col. John M. Lane, died January 11, 2010 at Dirigo Pines in Orono. She was born May 18, 1923 in Dexter, a daughter of Theodore and Geneva (Small) Haseltine. She was a graduate of N. H. Fay High School in Dexter.
Marguerite was a devoted Army wife and made a home for her husband and children in many places. She was also a secretary in various civil service capacities, including the Farmer’s Home Administration office in Newport. She was a member of the People’s United Methodist Church in Newport, where she served as church organist for many years. Marguerite will be remembered for her varied crafts and needlework and was an excellent seamstress.
She is survived by 2 sons, John Michael Lane and wife Kathleen of Rockland, Mark Lane and wife Patricia of Newburgh; 2 daughters, Janie and husband Michael Ames of Newport, Cindy and husband David Hansberry of Litchfield, NH; a brother, Richard Haseltine and wife Virginia of Orrington; a sister Beverly and husband Robert Tillson of Dexter; 7 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends called from 6-8 PM Sunday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, January 18th, at the Peoples United Methodist Church, 131 Main Street, Newport, with the Revs. Ellen Bridge and George Darling officiating. Spring burial will be in the Maine Veteran’s Memorial cemetery in Augusta.
Memorial donations may be made to People’s United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Mr. Larry Gray, P. O. Box 182, Newport, ME 04953.
