Charles Gillett, Sr.

ST. ALBANS - Charles Wesley Gillett, Sr., 83, died October 22, 2010, at his home in St. Albans. He was born September 3, 1927, in Danforth, a son of John and Wilhelmina (Hooper) Guillett.
He graduated from high school, served in the U.S. Army, and worked as a lobsterman for many years; and later, for Ellis Paperboard in Scarborough. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved boats, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a son, Charles Gillett Jr. and his wife, Diane of Pittsfield; a daughter, Karen Mulkern and her husband, Frank of NH; 5 brothers, Henry, David, Royden, Walter and Hilding; 3 sisters, Ethel, Jean and Pearl, all of Canada; 2 granddaughters, Rita Gillett of Biddeford, and Heather Gillett of Newport; a great grandson, Aiden Lorentsen of Canaan; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend, his dog, Chubba; and his cat, Kitty.
A memorial service will be held 1 PM Saturday, November 6th, at the Getchell Street Baptist Church in Waterville. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may leave written condolences at www.CrosbyNeal.com

Dorothy Jean Cline

DETROIT - Dorothy Jean Cline, 83, died peacefully, Friday, October 22, 2010, in Pittsfield.
She was born on October 5, 1927, in, Logan, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles and Ellen Ratzlaff, Sr. She was educated in the Ohio school system and went on to receive her degree in Cosmetology. She married Playford Ewing Cline and together they raised their two sons.
Dorothy was self employed for many years as a licensed hair dresser. She owned her own beauty shop in Ohio and when her husband received his barber’s license, they moved to Fort Pierce, Florida, and opened Cline’s Shop and worked side by side for over 25 years. She moved to Maine nine years ago to live beside her son and daughter-in-law. She was a talented artist, painting numerous pictures. She loved God and lived by the belief that God has a calling in her life and she desired to simply follow it. She will be lovingly missed.
She is survived by her two sons, Alan Cline and his wife, Lou, of San Diego, California and Brad Cline and his wife, Cindy, of Detroit, Maine; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Michael, Daniel, Maria, Malia; and a special friend, Carol Ingles, of Florida.
She was predeceased by her husband, Playford Cline; her brother, Chuck Ratzlaff; her sister, Millie Rymer; and her grandson, Andrew Cline.
Dorothy Jean will be peacefully laid to rest beside her husband, Playford, at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Care for the family has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

Charles S. Dinopoulos

CORINNA - Charles Dinopoulos, 70, died October 26, 2010 at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 12, 1940 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, a son of George and Evelyn (Widger) Dinopoulos. He graduated from Leominster [MA] High School and served a tour in the U. S. Air Force.
He worked at Colonial Press in Clinton, MA for 17 years, and for the Ames Company in Clinton for 19 years. He was a member of the Masons. Charlie moved to Corinna in 1997 and taught hunter safety education for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Garland Grange and the Pomona Grange. He was also a member of the Morse’s Corner Baptist Church in Corinna.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Gudroe) Dinopoulos of Corinna; 1 son, Matthew and wife Kimberly Dinopoulos of Fitchburg, MA; and a sister, Joanne Awadellah of Leominster, MA; and a grandson Joshua.
Funeral services were held 10 AM Friday, October 29th, at Morse’s Corner Baptist Church, Exeter Road, Corinna with Pastor Mike Wilbur officiating. Friends called from 9 AM until the time of the service. Burial was at Morse’s Corner cemetery, Corinna. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna.

Richard “Dick” Tucker

PITTSFIELD - Richard Carlson Tucker, 82, died October 13, 2010 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born September 15, 1928 in Presque Isle, a son of William and Elsie (Carlson) Tucker. He attended Boston Latin School in Boston before enlisting in the Navy during World War II. He served with distinction as a cryptographer in North Africa. He was also an excellent baseball player, having represented the Navy in games all over the European theatre. After the war, Dick was the first non-family employee of Laverdierre’s Drug Store in Waterville. After moving his family to New Jersey, he was an over the - road trucker and dispatcher and also owned his own trucking firm.
Dick was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ridgefield Park, NJ, and attended the First Baptist Church of Damariscotta, and the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield. He was also a member of the Bristol Grange. Dick loved the ocean and spent many happy hours at the Jersey Shore. An avid Red Sox fan, he also enjoyed cribbage and crossword puzzles. In his later years, one of his favorite past times was visiting his brother in law and sister in law at their dairy farm in Albion.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Thelma (Hunt) Tucker of Pittsfield; 1 son, Richard D. and wife Heather Tucker of Hartland; 2 daughters, Pamela and husband Stephen Schwartz of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Penny and husband Gary Smallman of Number Four, New York; 7 grandchildren, Rebecca, Kendra, Julia and Theodore Schwartz, Colleen McCreedy, Hannah Brown and Daniel Tucker; 5 step grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Lucky Girl.
A memorial service was held at 2 PM on Sunday, October 17th, at the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield, with the Rev. William Johnson officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Edward J. Sabol

ST. ALBANS - Edward J Sabol, 75, went to be with the Lord on October 14th, 2010. Ed served in the Arm Forces and loved hunting & fishing. He was a wholesaler and an auctioneer for thirty years. He is survived by his wife Leona of 39 years, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, a sister Jeannette Bartolo and her husband Frank, two nieces and serveral cousins.
He is predeceased by his mother and father John and Pauline Sabol of New Jersey, two daughters Cathy Fonseca of California and Colleen Growhowski of Pennsylvania.
There will be no services.

Ada B. Hickey

EASTPORT, NEWPORT & PITTSFIELD - Ada Blanche Hickey, 99, beloved wife of the late Carroll A. Hickey, passed away October 4, 2010 at a Pittsfield health care facility. She was born May 23, 1911 in Eastport, a daughter of D. Archibald and Etta M. (Quigley) Fiander. She graduated from Shead Memorial High School, Class of 1929. She and her husband Carroll owned Hickey’s Shoe Store until it burned in 1962. They later owned and operated the Mad Injun which later was called the Puffin Pig Gift Shop in Whiting. Ada was a lifelong member of the Pythian Sisters. She was a trustee of the Bangor Savings Bank, Eastport Memorial Nursing Home, trustee and treasurer of the Blakley Memorial United Methodist Church, and the treasurer and a volunteer for Meals for ME in Eastport. She loved to dance and socialize with friends.
She is survived by her daughter Carol A. Turner of Newport; grand daughter, Susan C. Villetta; 4 great grandchildren, Chelsea, Nicholas, Chandler and Griffin Villetta, all of Portland; a son, William and wife Santa Hickey of Taneytown, MD; grand daughters, Carol and husband William Phipps of Annapolis, MD, Jacqueline and husband Raymond Miller; 2 great grandchildren, Wesley and Haley Miller, all of Littlestown, PA; grand daughter Karen and husband Kenneth Wilkinson of Upperco, MD; grand daughter Kimberly and husband Daniel Alvater, and 2 great grandchildren, Ashley and Amber Alvater, all of Taneytown, MD; nephews, Donald and Robert Vose and Robert Fiander.
She was predeceased by her husband Carroll in 1975, her brother and his wife, William and Evelyn Fiander of Baltimore, MD; her best friend and sister, Verna (Fiander) Vose, who passed 10 days before Ada, also at Sebasticook Valley Health Care Facility; and Verna’s husband, Ralph Vose in 1975.
Graveside services will be held 1 PM Friday, November 5th, at the amily lot, Hillside cemetery, Eastport, where she will be interred beside her beloved husband. The Rev. Margaret O’Mally will officiate. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Memorial donations may be made to the Blakley Memorial United Methodist Church; or to Meals for ME, Eastport, ME 04631. Andrew J. Marchelletta

ETNA - Andrew James Marchelletta, 20, died unexpectedly October 11, 2010 at his residence. He was born May 9, 1990 in Bangor, a son of Antonio and Kimberly (Karr) Marchelletta. He attended Nokomis Regional High and was a high school graduate. Andrew had been employed as a groundsman for the Asplundh Tree Service. Andrew was an avid hunter, especially bird hunting with his dog Scrappy, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his maternal great grandmother Barbara Dimura of Hartland; paternal grandmother Ruth Marchelletta; his father and stepmother Antonio and Barbara Marchelletta; 2 sisters Courtney and Jaclyn Marchelletta, all of Etna; 3 step brothers Ben Warstler of St. Johnsbury, VT, Brett Warstler of Bangor and Brandon Warstler of Dover-Foxcroft; several nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts, including a special cousin Justin Plourde. He was predeceased by his mother Kimberly.
Private family graveside services will be held at Pine Grove cemetery, Hartland. A time of fellowship and celebration of his life will be held following the service at his West Etna Road residence. Troy D. Patterson

BURNHAM - Troy D. Patterson, 36, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, in Burnham. He was born in Waterville on Dec. 7, 1973, the son of Darrell Patterson and Jane (Flood) (Patterson) Brann. Troy attended Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield and later received his general educational development certificate. He enjoyed being outside and working with his hands. He liked watching the History Channel and being with his family and friends. Troy loved his family and friends very much and often said how proud he was of his children. He is survived by his children, Colby, Dakota, Derek and Ava, all of Burnham; mother, Jane Brann and her companion, Butch Wright, of Burnham; a sister, Amanda Patterson and her companion, Harold Ketcham, and her children, nephew Zackery, nieces Molly and Sarah, of Burnham. He is also survived by his brother, Jasper Beam of Florida; grandfather, Clarence Flood of Burnham; grandmother, Thelma Patterson of Burnham; aunts and uncles, Rosemary Overlock and her husband, Bob, Freeman Patterson, Sue Hewins and her husband, Alan, Mary Poirier and her husband, Jerry, Regina Basford and her husband, Bruce, and Wade Flood and his wife, Christine; special Aunt Jane Reny and her husband, Jim; special uncle, Russell Huff and his companion, Cammie; special close cousin Mike Huff; and several other family members and many friends. He was predeceased by his father, Darrell Patterson; grandmother, Lucille Flood; grandfather, Wilfred "Tommy" Patterson; and uncle, Jack Patterson. A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Obie Walker officiating. Interment will follow at the Reynolds cemetery, Lower Horseback Road, in Burnham. Family and friends are welcome to attend a gathering following the committal service at the Winnecook Christian Church Fellowship Hall, Chapel Lane, in Burnham. Care for the family has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

Kenneth N. Perry

NEWPORT - Kenneth N. Perry, 76 of Newport died on October 14, 2010 at Eastern Maine Medical Center, with his family at his side after a heroic battle. He was born in Belfast on January 3, 1934. He was the son of Kathryn Newcomb and Mervyn Perry. Kenneth was graduate of Clinton High School where he was an outstanding athlete in basketball and baseball. He received his BS in secondary education from the University of Maine at Orono and his masters from the University of Southern Maine. He married Patricia (Jamieson) Perry on September 11, 1965. After graduating college, he served in the United States Army. Kenneth began his teaching career at Milo High School. He also served as principal at Monson High School, Thorton Academy, and Georges Valley. In 1967 he established residency in Newport where he lived the remainder of his life. He ended his career in education as a principal and assistant superintendent at Nokomis Regional High School, Newport. Kenneth was the first principal at Nokomis High School beginning in 1968, retiring in 1991. Kenneth was the president of the Maine Principal's Association 1984-1985. Kenneth joined the Sebasticook Masonic Lodge No. 146 in 1957, where he was a Master Mason. He joined the Skowhegan-Madison Elks Lodge No. 2531 in 1982. He is survived by two daughters, Morgan and husband, Michael Sherrard of Calais, Mysti and husband, Bruce Webber of Etna; a son, Mitchell Perry and girlfriend, Liza Fyrberg of Newport; five grandchildren, Michael and Megan Sherrard, Kathryn (Katie), Kourtney and Konnor Webber; sister Barbara and brother-in-law (and best friend) Gordon Keene; and nieces Pamela and David (Pepsi) Perrault, Patricia and Robert Watson and Jeffrey Keene. He will be remembered by special friends, Milton and Marlene Thompson, Donald and Cheryl King, Rudy Charrier and Lauris Monk. He was a devoted father and friend and will be remembered as an avid New England sports fan. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course, and at his camp on Unity Pond always wanting his family by his side. Kenneth is predeceased by his wife of 33 years Patricia Perry.

Hildegard E. Sauer

PITTSFIELD - Hildegard E. Sauer, 84, died peacefully on Saturday, October 2, 2010, at her home. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on March 11, 1926, the daughter of the late Michael and Martha (Polzin) Frederick.
Hildegard enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved being with her family. She and her husband, Walter, celebrated 57 years of marriage. She will be lovingly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Sauer of Pittsfield; her daughter, Lisa Sauer and her husband, William Kragness, of Hartland; her sons, Paul Sauer and his wife, Carol, of Birmingham, Alabama and Philip Sauer of Pittsfield; her grandchildren, Paul Sauer, Jr. and John Sauer; her sister, Elizabeth Gartman of Ohio; her brother, Michael Frederick and his wife, Helen, of Ohio; and her sister-in-law, Christine Frederick of Kitchener, Ontario.
She was predeceased by a brother, William Frederick.
The family received friends from 4 to 6 PM, Friday, October 8th, 2010, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A funeral service was held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 9th, 2010, at the funeral home with the Reverend Elaine Hewes officiating. A committal service will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran cemetery in Kitchener, Ontario.

Pamela A. Cooke

NEWPORT - Pamela Cooke, 56, died unexpectedly October 4, 2010 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born October 20, 1953 in Boston, MA a daughter of Bernard and Madeline (Carroll) Thomas. She was employed as a court recorder at Superior court and attended the Gateway Pentecostal Church in Newport.
She is survived by a son Cory Nania, and 2 daughters Christine and Catherine Cooke, all of Newport; 2 brothers, Dana Patterson of Braintree, MA and Gary Patterson of Boston, MA; 2 sisters, Brenda Thomas of Jacks Beach, FL and Diane Agabides of Honolulu, HI; 2 grandsons, Travis and Brody.
Pamela was predeceased by a brother Joseph, a Marine killed in action in Vietnam; and a sister Beverly Pierce.
A memorial service was held at 1 PM Saturday, October 9th, at Gateway Pentecostal Church, 363 Moosehead Trail, Newport.
Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.

Raymond G. Wing

PLYMOUTH - Ray Wing, 90, died September 14, 2010 at the Veterans Administration Hospital Hospice Unit in Togus.
He was born September 20, 1919 at Mars Hill a son of Caston and Christina (Ricker) Wing.
Ray served as a Tech Sergeant in the Army during World War II. After the war he moved to Plymouth and married the former Eva Landry, who predeceased him on June 3, 2000. Ray was a carpenter and tree farmer and was awarded the outstanding tree farmer of New England award in 1972. He was a member of Benevolent Lodge #87 of Carmel, the Anah Shrine, and Barrows-Skidgel Post #105 American Legion in Newport. Over the years, he attended Calvary Baptist Church in Newport, and Emmanuel Bible Baptist Church in Plymouth.
Ray was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and riding his 4-wheeler in the woods to prune his trees. He shot his last deer at age 90. Ray cut his own lumber in his sawmill, which he operated with his family. He also enjoyed traveling, including trips to Florida and New Foundland, and puttering on his tractors.
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia and husband Mike Grass of Plymouth; 2 grandchildren, Lisa and husband Bill Pelkey, and Mike Grass, Jr. and wife Brandy; 4 great grandchildren, Billy, Mikayla, Dana, and Brandon, all of Plymouth; a sister, Eleanor Goodridge of Bangor. He was predeceased by a brother Kenneth, and sister, Luella.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Togus Hospice for the care Ray received, especially his aides Gail and Kathy and all the nurses. He also was able to stay at home for several years prior to his illness with the help of his special home care workers, Vivian and Lisa and many other home health nurses and aides from CHCS.
Funeral services were be held at 2 PM Sunday, September 19th, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, with the Reverend Robert Emrich officiating. Burial was in the Sawyer cemetery, Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VAVS Hospice Unite, Voluntary Services 135, Department of Veterans Affairs, 1 VA Center, Augusta, ME 04330.
