REED O. DUNPHY

NEWPORT - Reed O. Dunphy, 64, passed away at his home on July 17, 2014.
Reed was born on December 4, 1949, in Waterville, the son of Hillis and Josephine (Reed) Dunphy. He grew up in Burnham and served our country in the United States Army. He worked for the U.S. Postal service serving as postmaster for the town of Plymouth until his retirement in 2005.
Reed was a member of the Barrows Skidgel American Legion Post 105 in Newport for 30 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his dog, Cooper. He enjoyed motorcycles and was an avid Patriots fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Raegan Ward and husband, Tom, of Burnham; his son, Kyle Dunphy and wife, Ashley, of Burnham; a stepson, Michael Eaton, of Newburgh; his brother, Linwood (Red) Dunphy and wife, Dorothy, of Pittsfield; his sister, Janice McGowan and husband, Robert, of Pittsfield; six grandchildren, Jazlynn Eaton, Alivia Ward, Melaina Eaton, Noah Ward, Logan Dunphy and Colton Eaton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Richard and John.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2014, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, at the funeral home. A committal followed at the Greenlawn Rest cemetery, Route 100, in Clinton, with military honors presented for his service to our country.
Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen Street, 2nd Floor, Framingham, Massachusetts, 01701, in Reed’s memory.

MALCOLM I. BURRELL

PALMYRA - Malcolm I. Burrell, 64, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, July 4, 2014, at his home in Palmyra.
He was born on December 11, 1949, in Hartland, Maine, the son of Malcolm and Mary (McDougal) Burrell. He graduated from Hartland Academy with the class of 1968 and proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
Malcolm’s first job was working at the creamery for H.P. Hood. He was also employed by Maine Central Railroad and H. E Sargent before making his final career choice as a truck driver for H.O. Bouchard in Hampden. He served them for over 35 years traveling throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Canada. He received the two million mile safety award in 2009 and was a qualified trainer for new employees.
Malcolm was a member of the Hartland First Baptist Church. He loved children and taught Sunday School for 25 years. His favorite scripture was Isaiah 40:31: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
He was a faithful supporter of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting and attending gun shows with his brothers. He was known for his sense of humor and was tender hearted toward animals. He especially loved his cats and enjoyed feeding the wild birds and animals.
Because of Cindy’s disability, Malcolm became a very loving caregiver. He enjoyed cooking and learning to cook, often he would say “Cindy was the brains and he was the hands.”
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Cindy Burrell, of Palmyra; his mother, Mary Burrell, of Brewer; brothers, Michael Burrell and Patty of Newport, Reagan Burrell and Sandra of Palmyra and Brian Burrell and Laurel, of Newport; mother-in-law, Noreen Willey of Hartland; and several nieces and nephews, of whom he loved playing with and enjoyed teasing.
He was predeceased by his father, Malcolm Burrell; his brother, Sherwood Burrell; and his father-in-law, David Willey.
A memorial service was held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, July 13, at the Hartland First Baptist Church, 10 Elm Street in Hartland, with Rev. David Michaud officiating. Military honors will be presented for his service to our country. A reception followed in the fellowship hall. The committal service was at Pine Grove cemetery in Hartland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Hartland First Baptist Church, 10 Elm Street, Hartland, Maine, 04943.

DANA I. DOHERTY

CORINNA - Dana I. Doherty, 79, died unexpectedly July 16, 2014 in Corinna. He was born in St. Albans, the youngest child of Bert and Fern (Whittaker) Doherty, Sr.
Dana graduated from Corinna Union Academy in 1953 and joined the U.S. Air Force. While stationed in Japan, he met his bride, Kiyoko Hanazawa, and they were married July 23, 1957. Dana was a Master oil burner technician by trade.
He is survived by his wife Ki; 2 daughters and their husbands, Julie and Alan Clark, and Denise and Jeffrey Dickson, and a son, Christopher Doherty. He was known affectionately as “Pup” by his grandchildren, Kenneth and wife Crystal Clark, Cody and Makayla Doherty; and great grandchildren, Jackson Clark, Amelia Ludden, and Sydney Clark. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; siblings, Beulah Knowles, Lionel Doherty, Constance Doherty, Bert Doherty, Jr., Doreen Clark and Clara Stevens.
Graveside services will be held 2 P.M. Friday, July 25th at the Corinna Center cemetery, Corinna. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Chapel, Corinna. NOLAN K. BERTHELETTE

PITTSFIELD - Nolan K. Berthelette, 14, passed into Spirit unexpectedly on Saturday, July 19, 2014, in Bangor.
He was born on February 27, 2000, in Taunton, Massachusetts, the son of Ray and Amy (Callum) Berthelette. He recently graduated from 8th grade at Warsaw Middle School and was looking forward to being a freshman this fall at Maine Central Institute. He had already started his training to be on the football team and was giving it everything he had.
Nolan brought joy and laughter wherever he went. He was an extremely bright and gifted son. He was very musical being able to play several instruments, including the guitar, piano, ukulele and drums. He was an artist and creator and had a strong drive and passion for life. He was a member of the chorus and played in the MCI Jazz Band.
Nolan spent many weekends at The Forks with his family and enjoyed being a junior guide. He was loved and respected by all in the rafting community. He was quite the adventurer and activist and had organized the clean-up of Manson Park on Earth Day. He loved eating all kinds of foods and enjoyed cooking as well. His life and love for others was an inspiration to many and he will be missed beyond measure.
He is survived by his parents, Ray and Amy Berthelette of Pittsfield; his siblings, Heather Berthelette of New Bedford, Massachusetts, Nikolas Berthelette of East Freedom, Massachusetts, Meri Berthelette and Nason Berthelette, both of Pittsfield; his nephew, Elijah Dube-Berthelette; his great grandfather, Roy Lye of Pittsfield; his grandparents, Lori Swartz of Pittsfield, Jeff and Mimi Callum of Chelsea, Massachusetts, and Ed and Carol Tordoff of Fruitland, Florida; uncles, Randy Berthelette and Ryan Berthelette; aunts, Cara Berthelette and Jen Brock and husband, Joe; his special “Auntie BoB”, Illisa Zamcheck; cousins, Celia, Cole, Mario, Marina and many Swartz cousins, his best friend Devon Varney; and many, many close friends.
The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, July 25, 2014, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 26th, at the Wright’s Gym, Maine Central Institute, 295 Main Street, Pittsfield, with Sheree Asdot officiating. A committal service immediately followed at the Village cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield.

DONNA MARIE TASKER

NORTH NEWPORT - Donna Marie Tasker, 77, passed away unexpectedly July 22, 2014 at her Mullen Road residence, where she had resided for the past 71 years. She was born July 12, 1937 in Stetson, the only child of John and Evie (Gray) Tasker. She graduated from Newport High School, as valedictorian, Class of 1955, and from Colby College, Class of 1959. While at Colby she received the President’s Gold Medal for highest honors in scholastics and leadership. She then attended the Northern Conservatory of Music in Bangor as a voice major. Donna was an accomplished violinist and played in the Colby College Community Orchestra and was a past performing member of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. Although a lifelong resident of Newport, she was a music teacher for over 30 years in the Corinna and Brewer school systems. Donna was an active member of the North Newport Church Association, the North Newport cemetery Association, the Newport Historical Society, and the Old Maine Cemeteries Association.
Cats and dogs were a lifelong joy to Donna. She never turned away a stray cat from her door, and had owned many dogs over the years. Norwegian Elk Hounds quickly became her favorite dogs, and she showed several of hers at dog shows in the northeastern United States and in the maritime provinces of Canada. She was president of the Norwegian Elk Hound Rescue and Recovery of Maine and helped to find good homes for many dogs.
She is survived by an aunt, Evangeline Matijczyk of Newport, and an uncle, Leon Gray of North Carolina; and many cousins. She is also survived by many good friends who have helped her through her many difficulties this past year. She is also survived by her beloved Elk Hound Sammy and her cats.
Donna was predeceased by her father in 1976 and by her mother in 1977.
Graveside funeral services were held 10 AM Saturday, July 26th, at the Tasker cemetery, North Newport. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norwegian Elk Hound Rescue and Recovery of Maine, c/o Mr. LeRoy Hall, 125 West Etna Road, Etna, ME 04434. DAVID B. CLARK

NEWPORT - David B. Clark, 76, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at a Bangor hospital following a time of failing health.
He was born on October 11, 1937, in Corinna, Maine, the son of Gerald and Helen Clark. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. In 1995, he married Kathleen Sedgwick Bouley and they shared 19 years of marriage.
David managed the family business, the Clark Motel, in Newport, for many years and retired from Edwards in Pittsfield. He enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling until he became handicapped in 2004, requiring daily care from his devoted wife.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Clark of Newport; son, Merrill Clark of Stratham, NH; daughter, Rhonda Clark of Bangor; stepchildren, Gail Cropley and husband, David, of Plymouth, Kathy Bane and husband, Bill, of St. Albans, Andrew Bouley and wife, Kathy, of Clifton, Fred Bouley and wife, Cheryl, of Greenville and Robert Bouley and wife, Sandra, of St. Albans; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; several cousins including, Glennice Willette of Corinna, Doris Todd of Pittsfield, Mildred Buckland of Newport, Virginia Hopkins and her husband, Dale, of Etna, Clifford Bubar, Robert Bubar and Weston Bubar; sister-in-law, Gloria Huff of Burnham; and brother-in-law, Brenton Sedgwick and wife, Diane, of Hendersonville, NC.
He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Nancy Clark in 1993; and a sister, Rachel Clark.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 PM, Monday, July 14th, 2014, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A funeral service was held at 2 PM, Tuesday, July 15th, at the funeral home with the Rev. Brenton Sedgwick officiating. A committal service with military honors followed at the Riverside cemetery, cemetery Road, Newport.

KIMBERLY ANNE GODSOE

HARTLAND - Kimberly Anne Godsoe, 38, died unexpectedly from injuries sustained in an ATV accident on Sunday, July 13, in 2014, in Moscow.
Kim was born on November 21, 1975, in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, the daughter of Russell Corson and Bonnie Gilbert. She graduated from Dexter High School and attended Beal College. She was employed as the town manager of Corinna and really loved working with the community. She was also involved in the recreation committee.
Kim was an extremely gifted woman. She enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts: quilting, crocheting and making jewelry. If she didn’t know how to accomplish something, she would look it up, study it, and attempt it until she succeeded. She was an all-around Maine girl, enjoying camping, hunting, snowmobiling and 4 wheeling.
Kim always kept busy but her family was her number one priority. She loved her children and enjoyed the Sunday family dinners at the Godsoe home. Her Friday night “wine nights” were a treasure to her. She will be missed by all of her family and close friends.
She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Earl Godsoe IV; her children, Cody, Rylee and Lane, all of Hartland; her mother and stepfather, Bonnie and Darrell Gilbert; her father and stepmother, Russell and Tracy Corson of Parkman; her in-laws, Earl and Penny Godsoe III of Hartland and Fern Dawson of St. Albans; her sisters, Sonja Corson of Lowville, New York and Kacy Wakefield and husband, Chip, of Ripley; and several friends.
A memorial service was held at 2 PM, Saturday, July 19th, at the Hartland Consolidated School, 62 Elm Street, in Hartland. A potluck gathering followed.

DOLORES JEAN WILLIAMS

GUILFORD - Dolores Jean Williams, 78, passed away at her home in Guilford on July 12, 2014.
“Dodie”, as she preferred to be called, was a well known cook and hard worker her whole life, also very well known for her pies. She worked at Drakes Restaurant for many years as well as many other nursing and boarding homes. Dodie was pre deceased by her husband, Wayne Williams on November 13, 2001. Dodie was the daughter of Walter (Bill) and Cleora (Dutchy) Goode. Dodie was also predeceased by her step son Terry Williams of Guilford. She is survived by 2 stepsons Ronnie Williams and his wife Sheila of South Carolina, Chuck Williams and his wife Priscilla and son Tyler of Belfast; 2 sons Walter (Willie) Williams, fiance Carla Arno, grandson Stephen Williams, granddaughter Tiffany Porter as well as Michael Williams of Greenbush and wife Debbie and grand daughter Andrea of Rhode Island. She is also survived my many nieces and nephews whom she spent a lot of time with growing up. Dodie was well known throughout her community by everyone and loved by all. Graveside services were held at the Lawn cemetery in Guilford on Thursday, July 17th at 1 PM, a reception immediately followed at her residence on 13 Hudson Avenue in Guilford. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Guilford.

ELIZABETH “BETTY” NELSON

CORINNA - Betty Ann Nelson, 92, died July 13, 2014 at a Pittsfield nursing facility. She was born October 6, 1921 in St. Albans, a daughter of Harry and Bernice (Wing) Nelson. Betty’s early education was in the old Hopkins School on the Square Road in St. Albans. She graduated from Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1939, and attended the University of Maine in Orono.
Growing up on the family farm, she helped her parents and siblings with the many chores and the preparation of meals for the hired help. Betty also was her father’s “right hand man” in his mobile home business in St. Albans and Hartland. Betty and her father Harry also raised and raced horses. She will be remembered for her knitting and crocheting, and the cooking she loved to do.
Betty is survived by her brother and wife James and Arlene Nelson of Corinna; nieces, Darlene Wark of Glendale, AZ, Maria Lewis of Dexter, Carmen Burgess of Cave Junction, Oregon, Elainna Guerette of Littleton, Colorado, and Roxane Nelson of Bangor; nephews Robert Huntley of Alabama, Von Eric Nelson of Milford, Reginald Nelson of Carmel, and Ronnie Nelson; as well as a sister in law Alberta Nelson of Dexter.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother Edward Nelson, sister Ella Weeks, nephew Allen Huntley, and niece Dianne Huntley.
Graveside committal services were held at 1 PM on Friday, July 18th at Corinna Village cemetery, with Pastor Stan Griffin officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
