SUSAN I. (MOOERS) WORSTER

CORINNA - Susan I. (Mooers) Worster, 91, wife of the late Ervin M. Worster, passed away on May 19, 2014, at a Bangor Hospital. She was born in Exeter on February 25, 1923. Susie was the youngest child of Miles L. Mooers and Susan Idella (Estabrook) Mooers. She was predeceased by eight siblings.
Susie is survived by one son, Herbert Worster of Carroll Plantation and his girlfriend, Sharon Downs; and one daughter, Sharon Cole of Corinna, with whom she made her home for many years. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Lilla Demmons of Exeter.
Graveside service, Stevens cemetery, Carroll Plantation, Wednesday, May 28, 1 pm.

DOROTHY ELEANOR NICHOLS

CORINNA - Dorothy Nichols, 84, died peacefully at home on April 29 surrounded by her family. She was born the youngest of three children to Richard and Ruth Brown of Goffstown, NH, on November 7, 1929. Dorothy was educated in Goffstown schools and worked briefly as a bookkeeper before marrying her husband, Robert, in 1949. For 20 years Bob and Dorothy made their life together in Palmer, Alaska, running a family dairy farm and raising six children. In 1973 they moved back to New England with their two youngest daughtersSusan and Nancyand settled in Corinna for the remainder of their lives.
Dorothy was a contented person who enjoyed a simple life and found great pleasure in the natural beauty of her surroundings. She delighted in the birds around her home and welcomed all of the various other creatures who benefited from her care and feeding. Her kindness expressed itself in home-cooked meals, a full cookie jar, and an inviting kitchen that was always open to any who stopped by.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Alice, and her husband Bob, to whom she was married for 43 years. She will be dearly missed by her two sons and their wivesRobert and Amy of Brooks, and James and Jeanne of Palmer, Alaska; her four daughtersJudy Dove of Skowhegan, Cathy Miller and husband Paul of Stetson, Susan Austin and husband John of Corinna, and Nancy Nichols-Pethick and husband Jonathan of Terra Haute, Indiana; as well as nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She will also be sorely missed by devoted friend Steve Day and his wife Cindy of Monson.
A private family celebration and time of remembrance of Dorothy’s life will take place in July. Those who wish may make donations in her name to the Salvation Army. Final arrangements are by Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home of Belfast.

PENNY ANN CALL

ST. ALBANS - Penny Ann Call, 45 passed away Sunday, May 11th at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. She was born on December 12th, 1968 in Pittsfield, the daughter of Christine Spooner and Robert Lunt.
Penny married Rex Call on April 3rd, 1993 and together they raised their two daughters. She enjoyed gardening, lawn saling, playing bingo and barbecuing in the summer, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Penny will be lovingly missed by all who knew her.
Penny is survived by her mother Christine Spooner of Hartland and father Robert Lunt of Plymouth, husband Rex Call of St Albans, two daughters, Briana Call and companion Tony of Hartland, and Ashlie Cross and husband Anthony of St. Albans, two stepsons Rex Call Jr. and Troy Call of Palmyra, sisters Delcey Lunt and companion Brian of Hartland and Tammy Lunt of Hartland, brother Stacy Lunt of Newport, granddaughter Adriana and nephews Dylan, Shane and Sabrina, along with five step grandchildren and many other friends and family.
Penny was predeceased by her brother Robert S. Lunt and grandmothers Nettie Chase and Beverly Lunt.
Services will be held for close friends and family.

KATHLEEN MAY BABSKI

SANGERVILLE - Kathleen May Babski, 60, died May 6, 2014, at Mayo Regional Hospital, after a two and a half year battle with peritoneal/ovarian cancer. She was born in Dover-Foxcroft, July 1, 1953, the daughter of Ernest and Elsie (Leavitt) Sandberg.
She graduated from PCHS, class of 1971, and then graduated from Beauty School in Bangor. She worked as a hair dresser for about 40 years. She owned a salon in Guilford for many years, serving many clients who became lifelong friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Kathy was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and wife. Her family brought her great pride and joy. She enjoyed her trips to North Carolina to see her daughter and grandchildren. She liked to watch her grandson’s ball games and going to their school functions. She enjoyed visits and going shopping with her daughter and granddaughter from Belgrade. Kathy’s love was like no other. Kathy loved to sew, craft, and bake. She made many gifts, which will be cherished by many.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, John C. Babski of Sangerville; children, Michelle Lake and her daughter, Tabitha, both of Belgrade; Jennifer Johnson and her husband, Keith, and their children, Brooke, Landen, and Parker, all of NC; Nicholas Crocker and his sons, Caleb, Caden, and Dawson, all of Dover-Foxcroft; stepdaughter, Tina Ferrigno, and her children, Anthony and Jessica, all of NY; a stepson, John Babski Jr. of NY; 2 sisters, Clarice Foss of Hermon, and Cynthia Fortier and her husband, Ross of Abbot; 2 brothers, Reginald Sandberg and his wife, Janet of WA, and Sam Goodridge and his wife, Donna of Abbot; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Ernest; and Sam and Elsie Goodridge.
Friends called from 5 to 7 PM, Thursday, May 8th, 2014, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak Street in Guilford. Funeral services were held 2 PM, Friday, May 9th, at the funeral Home, burial followed in the Blanchard cemetery on the back road in Abbot.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Sara’s House, c/o LaFayette Family Cancer Center, 33 Whiting Hill Road, Brewer, ME 04412.

RUTH C. BICKFORD

PLYMOUTH - Ruth C. Bickford, 101, died May 8, 2014 at a Pittsfield health care facility following a long illness.
Ruth was born in Plymouth January 29, 1913 the daughter of Herbert E and Elsie Mae (Eaton) Clark. She attended Plymouth Schools and was a graduate of Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield. Ruth married Carl Bickford in Bangor on Aug 4, 1934. He predeceased her on April 19, 2003. They were married for 69 years.
Ruth was employed as a book keeper for five years in Boston. She and Carl returned to Plymouth and she went to work at Pittsfield Woolen Mill where she worked for over forty years.
On March 22, 2014 Ruth received the Boston Post Gold Headed Cane as the oldest citizen of Plymouth, an honor she was very proud of.
She was a very talented artist and was recognized as a “Maine Artist”. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Plymouth. A member of the Newport Business and Professional Women’s Club, and a former member of the Penquis Rock and Mineral Club of Dover-Foxcroft.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, her husband Carl and by her brother Dwight Clark. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday May 12, 2014 from 1 PM until service time at 2 PM at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High Street, Newport. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 PM Monday at the Funeral Home with Rev. Ellen Bridge officiating. Burial will follow at the family lot in Sawyer cemetery Plymouth. In lieu of flowers friend may make memorial donations to the Bangor Human Society, 693 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center Newport. KATHERINE ROSETTA GORDON

BURNHAM - Katherine Rosetta Gordon 87, on March 1, 1927 Katherine was born in Providence, R.I. On May 3, 2014 she ended her earthly journey and departed to her Lord and Savior. She will be greatly missed by a large fellowship of friends and family.
Katherine spent her life loving and serving everyone who was blessed enough to come in contact with her. Some of her greatest joys were feeding people, offering spiritual support, and loving and caring for everyone in need.
Katherine is survived by her husband of 68 years, Alton Gordon Sr., her sister, Susie and husband Dion Seymour, four children; Mary E. Ramsdell, Alton Gordon Jr. and wife Cathy, Janet Gordon Colford and her husband Rodney and Elizabeth Webster. She also has six grandchildren; Ken Hunt, Jennifer Hunt, Dawn Ramsdell, Allison Gordon, Catie Gordon, and Laura Gordon. Her great grandchildren are; Lilly Hunt, Lane Quinn, Ethan Hunt, Desstiny Quinn, and Samuel New.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Marion (York) Dwelley, three brothers; Bert White, Donald Dwelley, and Carlton Dwelley, two sisters; Winnefred Ward, and Maxine Green.
A public memorial service will be announced in the near future by the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High Street, Newport.

RAYMOND A. FLETCHER, SR.

PALMYRA - Raymond Alfred Fletcher, Sr., 75, died unexpectedly March 19, 2014 at home with his son and wife by his side. He was born March 23, 1938 in Burnham, a son of Ralph and Katrina (Young) Fletcher.
He was a longtime employee of Agway before moving to Florida. There he worked for 23 years for Ocean Properties Limited. Ray met the love of his life, Coreine, in 1964 at Shorette’s Diner in Newport. Together they had two beautiful children, and because of their love, brought another child into their lives, Laura Henry. He enjoyed taking his family camping around Maine and New Hampshire. He also enjoyed woodworking.
In addition to his wife of Palmyra, he is survived by 2 children, Robin Fletcher of Waterville, and Ray, Jr. and wife Nichole of Plymouth; his grandchildren, David Fletcher of Southington, CT, Lindsay and Josh Nutter of Plymouth, and Ryan and Jason Henry of Detroit; 2 siblings, his twin brother Robert of Albion, and his sister, Bessie Luce of Troy; a sister-in-law, Violeta Stone of Oakland; and his loving Maine Coon cat, Pansy.
Ray was predeceased by 3 brothers, Carlton, Herbert and Lynn Fletcher; and by a sister, Vicki Bickford.
Graveside committal services will be held 11 AM Monday, May 19th, at Palmyra Village cemetery with Pastor Al Worden officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.

GRACE FRANCIS LARY

Grace Francis Lary, 93, passed away on May 4th, 2014, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 9th, 1921 in Danvers, MA, the daughter of William A. and Glenice E. (Avery) Lord. She came to Palmyra, when she was 13 years old and attended Hartland schools, graduating from Hartland Academy.
As a teenager Grace worked at the Hartland Canning Company and after high school returned briefly to Danvers to work at The Champion Lamp Factory.
Grace married Bernard Parkman Lary on March 11th, 1944 and together they raised five sons on the family farm in West Pittsfield. Summers were spent at camp on Great Moose Lake and she was always the first in the water no matter how cold and the last one to swim in the fall when it was time to close up for the winter. She enjoyed sharing her party boat and if you came to camp you would be invited for a cruise around the lake.
She will be remembered by all the neighbors as a wonderful cook, crocheter and craft person. If you admired any of her handiwork it is likely that you were gifted with it. She was an avid card player and spent the last several months playing with nieces and sharing lunch on Thursdays.
Grace is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law B. Richard and Janet Lary of Clinton, David and Peg Lary of Palmyra, Randy Lary of Pittsfield, Kent and Kim Lary of Fairfield Center and Mark and Teri Lary of Pittsfield; her brother and sister-in-law William and Katherine Lord of Pelham, NH.; her brother-in-law and wife Dana and Brenda Lary of Bowdoin; her grandchildren Troy Lary, Tammy Ngo, Scott Lary, Leighanne Lary, D. Paul Lary, Rhonda Lofton, Timothy Knudsen, Dustin Sinclair, Matthew Lary, Jason Fenderson and Matthew Landry; 18 great grandchildren; her beloved niece and care giver, Toni White and many other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, brothers Carl and Cyril Lord and her sisters Irma Lewis, Margaret Merrow, Edith Lary and Patricia Killam; three grandchildren Dirk Lary, Julia Lary and Wayne Lary.

HELEN V. WRIGHT

PITTSFIELD - Helen V. Wright 86 died peacefully April 24, 2014 at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield, following a winter long illness.
Helen was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine June 18, 1927 the daughter of Thomas I and Clara M (Donavon) Flannery. She was one of ten children born and raised on the family potato farm. She was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School.
Helen operated a daycare in her Pittsfield home for several years and later in life she earned her CNA and helped seniors in their homes in Pittsfield. Most of all Helen was a homemaker and mother to her children.
She is survived by her children; Neil Wright II of Pittsfield, Scott Wright of Idaho, Tamra and her husband Roger Monette of Newport, Randa Wright of California, two brothers, Roger Flannery of Portland, Ruel Flannery of Fort Fairfield, one sister Eloise Anticoli of Saco, five grandchildren; Kristin Friend, Stephanie Owens, C.J. Owens, Rachel Wright, Ryan Wright, two great grand children, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers. Helen loved and cared for her cat “Cuddles”.
Friends and relatives called 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, April 29th, 2014 for a time of remembrance and fellowship, at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High Street, Newport. Internment will be private.

DORENE B. CURRY

NEWPORT - Dorene (Burke) Curry 78 died unexpectedly at her home in Newport. She was born in Plymouth June 1, 1935 the daughter of Joseph F. and Lillian (Holbrook) Burke. She was a graduate of Newport High School and also a graduate of Husson College in Bangor.
Dorene married Dudley T. Curry in Newport on Sept 14, 1957. They were married for 48 years. He predeceased her on July 5, 2005.
Dorene was employed as a Medical Secretary for Dr. Charles and Dr. Sarah Simpson in Carmel for many years. She was also employed as the manager of Popeye’s Chicken in Newport for several years.
Dorene’s passion was her family especially her three boys and their families. She enjoyed gardening and camping with her family. She was a member of the Nokomis Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Newport. She was a volunteer worker for Meals for Me in Newport for many years. She was a former member of the Newport Fire Dept Ladies auxillary. She was an active member of the Newport High School Alumni Association serving on the Scholarship Committee for many years. She was an avid Red Sox fan and always like watching especially when her favorite player Jason V. was playing.
Dorene is survived by her three sons; Robert and Mary Curry of Etna, Michael Curry and his partner Denise Johnston of Newport, Terry and Gail Curry of Plymouth, five grandchildren; Ryan, Nichole, Kya, Ethan, and Seth, two great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Braeden.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Dudley, one sister Velma, three brothers; Clifton, Darrell, and Harland.
Friends called from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High Street, Newport. Funeral service was conducted at 2 PM on Thursday May 1, 2014 at the Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Terry McKinley officiating. Internment will private at the Sawyer cemetery, Plymouth.
