DEVIN DEREK MEGALAITIS

PALMYRA - Devin Derek Megalaitis, 29, passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 2014, at his home in Palmyra. He was born on February 1, 1985, in Stoughton, Massachusetts, the son of Derek Megalaitis and Diane R. Young.
Devin was a carpenter by trade. He loved the outdoors and animals. He had two special dogs, Bear and Diesel, who were like children to him. He will be lovingly missed and never forgotten.
He is survived by his father, Derek Megalaitis of East Freetown, Massachusetts; his mother, Diane R. Young of Palmyra; his stepfather, Harry Doucette Jr of St. Albans; his sister, Danielle Dawn Megalaitis of Palmyra; his maternal grandmother, C.A. Virginia Young of Stoughton, Massachusetts; two special nephews, Jordan Anthony Barnard and Tristan Scott Bordeau; many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Lauren W. Young.
The family received friends from 2 to 4 PM, Sunday, March 30th, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, April 5th, at the St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 900 Main Street, in Palmyra, with the Rev. Laura Peckham officiating.
Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

SHERYL L. CARMICHAEL

ST. ALBANS - Sheryl L. Carmichael 57, died March 23, 2014 at a Pittsfield hospital with her family at her side. Sheryl was born in Abbot, ME June 20, 1956 the daughter of Robert and Alice (Erickson) Howard. She attended Monson schools.
She married Gary L. Carmichael on June 29, 1980 in St. Albans where they have made their home.
Sheryl owned and operated a kennel raising Toy Poodles and Multipoos. Sheryl would only sell one of her dogs when she was sure they were going to a good home.
Sheryl’s family, grandchildren and her dogs were her life’s passion.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years Gary L. Carmichael of St. Albans, one son William Carmichael, six daughters; Diana and her husband Mike Pease of Canaan, Tara and her husband Jerry White of Ripley, Amy and her husband Dustin Doody of Clinton, Nichole and her husband Frank LaValley of Plymouth, Melissa and her husband Chad Burrill of Newport, Elisha Carmichael and her partner, Dan Kenyon of Bangor, two brothers, Michael Howard of Abbot, Robert Howard of St. Albans, two sisters, Deborah and her husband of Shawn Burdin of Dexter, Lisa Howard of St. Albans, 15 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, a sister Billi-Jo and a grandson Kyle. A family celebration of her life is being planned for the summer.

RICHARD K. EMERY

DETROIT - Richard K. Emery, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 13, 2014, in Pittsfield.
He was born on January 6, 1936, in Fort Fairfield, Maine, the son of the late Carl and Edna (White) Emery. He graduated from Maine Central Institute with the class of 1954 and proudly served our country in the United States Army.
Dick married Genevieve Gustin of Newport and together they raised their family. He was employed for 46 years at Irving Tanning in Hartland as a foreman. He was also employed as a deputy for the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department for many years. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved his cars, motorcycles, New England sports teams and politics. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting games. He loved his family and his church and faithfully attended the Church of the Nazarene, both in Fairfield and Pittsfield. He will be lovingly missed and remembered.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Genevieve Emery of Detroit; his children, Tammy Lasselle of Pittsfield, Bryan K. Emery and his wife, Kristi, of Detroit and Dirk C. Emery of Detroit; his grandchildren, Brandon Lasselle of Detroit, Alishia Lasselle of Hampden, Julie Lasselle of Pittsfield, Jacob Hunt of Houlton, Hannah Emery of Detroit and Slade K. Emery of Detroit; sister-in-law, Margaret; brother-in-law, Marvin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Durward Emery; and a sister, Carlene Milbury.
The family received friends from 2 to 4 PM, Sunday, March 16th, 2014, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A funeral service was held at 2 PM, Monday, March 17th, at the funeral home with the Rev. Eric Larsen officiating. A gathering will follow the service at the funeral home.
Care has been provided by the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

EVERETT D. MASON

Everett D. Mason, 64, passed away on March 6, 2014 at Mayo Reginal Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with poor health.
Everett was born May 4, 1949 in Dexter to Dewane and Estelle (Page) Mason who both predeceased him.
He attended school in Corinna and graduated from Corinna Union Academy in 1967.
Everett loved his family, gardening, fishing, country music and was a big Nascar/Jimmie Johnson fan.
He was an over the road truck driver most of his life and drove for several local companies.
Everett is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rhonda L. Mason of Guilford and by his sister Barbara Prescott and her husband William of Newport.
He has 3 children, Laura Mason, Dexter; Gregory Mason and wife Christine of Ashland, NH; and Gary Mason and fiance Brandy Hobbs of Charleston. Also 5 step-children Terry Woodard and fiance Jessica Harrington of Dover-Foxcroft; Darren Woodard Guilford; Shawn Woodard and wife Debbie of Parkman; Deanne Bubar of Guilford and Dean Bubar and partner Gretchen Duplisea of Dexter. Proud grandfather of 18 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 1 niece and 2 nephews.
The family would like to thank Dexter Health Care for their years of care and Mayo Regional Hospital nursing staff for their care, comfort and support in Everetts final days.
There will be no services at this time. There will be graveside services in the spring.

ARLENE (JACKSON) HERSEY

CORINNA - Arlene (Jackson) Hersey went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 8, 2014 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. She was born in Plymouth in February 18, 1932, the daughter of Elwood and Edna (Whitney) Jackson.
She attended Plymouth schools and Newport High School. Arlene met Norman “Bill” Hersey of Newport and they were married on November 11, 1948. Later in life she worked for Snowflake Canning in Corinna. She and her husband Bill owned and managed Bill’s Restaurant in Corinna. She ran a state-licensed daycare in her home and also cared for a foster child.
Arlene always enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and crafts and loved gardening and canning. She also enjoyed camping and snowmobiling with her family and friends. Her happiest times were spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren, loving them and just being together. Arlene was a prayer warrior, compassionate and loving. She attended Pleasant Street Christian Church in Corinna.
Arlene is survived by a son, Philip Hersey and his wife, Kelly, and granddaughter, Kristen, of Dixmont; grandson, Zachary Currier and friend, Cassie, and her daughter of Corinna; grandson, Christopher Currier and his wife, Gia and two sons, Chris and Samuel of Manassas, VA; and son-in-law, Daniel Currier; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Bill; her loving daughter, Brenda (Hersey) Currier; her infant son, Bruce; her parents; two brothers, Linwood Jackson and Red Jackson; and a sister, Delora.
A funeral service was held at 2 PM, Wednesday, March 12th, 2014 at the Pleasant Street Christian Church in Corinna with the Reverend Dave Chenowith officiating. Friends called at the church from 1 PM until the time of the service, followed by a luncheon reception.
Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.

GARY A. CHAMBERLAIN

TROY - Gary Chamberlain, 66, of Troy, died unexpectedly on March 8, at EMMC in Bangor. He grew up in Clinton and attended Lawrence High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and was a proud Vietnam veteran. He worked for L.E. Clifford Water Wells then owned and operated Chamberlain Water Wells.
Gary loved to just hang out with his friends and do wood working projects.
He is predeceased by his son Darren Chamberlain and siblings Wayne Chamberlain, Louise Reynolds, and Ruth Audet.
Known for his generosity and loyalty, he will be missed by his friends and relatives including: his wife Pat Chamberlain; children, Dennis Chamberlain and Darlene Chamberlain; grand-children, Dylan Chamberlain and Collin Chamberlain; step-children, Steven Pomerleau and Donna Greenwood; step-grand-children, Steven Davis, Devon Davis and Shala Davis; siblings, Ken Chamberlain and Cindy Welch, and sister-in-law Betty Dukette.
Interment will be held later in the spring. At the request of the family there will be no funeral or visitation hours.
Arrangements under the care and direction of Dan & Scott's Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan.

JEANNETTE R. CROMMETT

PITTSFIELD - Jeannette "Jan" Crommett, 55, passed unexpectedly on March 8th at her residence in Pittsfield. She was born February 7th, 1959 in Waterville.
Daughter of Carmelita Crommett and Marvin Young, Step daughter of Herbert Bean. She graduated from Nokomis Regional High, class of 1976. She worked many different jobs growing up. She was a loving mother to her two daughters Heather Folsom and Nikkia Washington, step children Katrina, Kara, and James (jake) K. Hutchinson. She enjoyed spending time with her partner of 14 years, James A Hutchinson, and granddaughters Kailynn and Adelynn Brasher, Liberty Norris. She was a beloved sister to; Maria Trask, Reggie Trask, Kevin Crommett, Angie Mark and Tammy Young, Katherine Emery, John Bickford, and Lori French.
She will be buried beside her mother in the spring, as she greatly would have wanted. She will be dearly missed by all her family members. All love her very much and pray she's moved on to a better life.

JANICE M. PRIEST

PALMYRA - Janice M. Priest, 78, passed away March 11, 2014, at a Pittsfield hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 25, 1935 in Dexter, the second daughter of Edward and Evelyn (Gilbert) Pullyard.
Janice was a homemaker who loved to ride horses in her younger years, cook, make hooked rugs and quilts, and had farm animals for many years. She painted beautiful pictures, loved to hunt and fish, and always had indoor birds, cats, and dogs. She also enjoyed spending time with family at the family camp on Echo Lake in Dexter. After her father passed away in 1974, her mother moved in with her until her death in 2009, and then Janice moved in with her daughter, Heidi, where she lived until her death.
She is survived by her children, Heidi and husband Terry Stafford, Rocky and wife Darlene Rockwell, and Russell and wife Angela Rockwell; 9 grandchildren, Heather Stafford, Shane and wife Paula Stafford, Tabitha Rockwell, Sara Moore, Rocky Rockwell, Daniel Rockwell, Shandi and husband Skyler Gilbert, Adrienne Rockwell, and Brittany and husband Jo Perkins; 9 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Stafford, Shane Alfred Stafford, Nikki Fillmore, Gabe Fillmore, Ava Rockwell, Zaine Gilbert, Bryson Gilbert, Mekhai Gilbert and Kiara Moore; 2 sisters, Joyce Larrabee and Sandra Crocker. She will be missed by her African Grey Parrot “Daisy” and her stray cat “Blackie”.
Graveside committal services will be held 10 A.M. Friday, May 9th at the Pullyard family lot, Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dexter. In lieu of flowers, she requested that memorial donations be made to a Humane Society of one’s choice. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.

DONNA F. PROVOST

NEWPORT - Donna F. Provost, 73, died unexpectedly February 28, 2014 at her residence. She was born January 27, 1941 in South Portland, a daughter of John and Madeline (Kirk) Warnock. She graduated from N. Reading High School in Massachusetts, Class of 1958.
Donna returned to Maine after high school where she married and had three children. She was employed at Abbott Shoe in N. Reading, MA and Dexter Shoe, Dexter Head Start, and Godsoe’s Kitchens in Newport, where she met her companion of 32 years, James Ready.
Donna’s hobbies included cross-stitch portraits, knitting, crocheting and gambling with her friends at Foxwoods and Hollywood Slots.
She is survived by her mother, of N. Reading, MA; a son, O’Keefe and wife Staci Provost of Old Town; 2 daughters, Laurie and husband Mark Hanscom of Dexter and Johnna Nightingale and partner George Clement of Charleston; 2 brothers, William “Bud” and wife Shirley Warnock of Venice, FL and George Warnock of Stoneham, MA; 3 sisters, Judith Meier of Florida, Karen Malo of N Reading, MA, and Betty and husband James Smith of Tewksbury, MA; 6 grandchildren, Amanda and husband Jotham Spreeman, Matthew Hanscom, Ben Nightingale and Rachel, Danielle and husband Jeff Fogg, Ryan Nightingale and Christine, Alyson and husband Glenn Fogg; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by James Ready; a sister, Helen Berg; her father and a niece Darlene.
Friends called from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services were held 1 PM on Tuesday, March 4th, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Spring committal services burial will be held 2 PM Friday, May 16th at the Dover cemetery.

KENNETH E. CHAMBERS

SAINT ALBANS - Alvin L. Norris, 85, died February 21, 2014 at a Pittsfield health care facility surrounded by his family. He was born June 18, 1928, in Detroit, a son of Lewis and Cora (Smith) Norris. Alvin attended Detroit and Dixmont schools and enjoyed his early years at the family farms in both communities. He iserved in the U.S. Navy, the National Guard in Ft. Drum, NY, and the Naval Reserve in Bangor. He was a member of the Barrows-Skidgel Post #105 American Legion in Newport.
He was employed as a handsewer for many years and then as a night watchman for 16 years, both at Dexter Shoe in Dexter, and later in Newport.
Alvin is survived by his children, Robert and wife Melissa Norris of Newport, Glen and wife Marchella Norris of Ohatchee, Al, Beverly and husband Gerald Duplisea of Burnham, David and wife Marianna Norris of Barefoot Bay, FL, Richard and wife Marion Norris of Pittsfield, and Rachel Robinson of New York, NY; 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Hart of Detroit. He was predeceased by his wife Thelma in December 2012; 2 brothers, Roland and Linwood Norris, and a sister, Eleanor Whitney.
Friends called at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport on Tuesday, February 25th, from 1 to 2 PM, followed by a brief service. Private burial will be in Dixmont Corner cemetery in the spring.
