WILLIAM G. STEEG

DEXTER - William G. Steeg, 66, died April 18, 2015, at his home in Dexter. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ, April 1, 1949, the son of Godfrey and June (Reneburg) Steeg.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Leslie (Gallison) Steeg of Dexter; a daughter, Jodi Jianniney and her husband, Michael of PA; 2 stepsons, Robert Matos and his wife, Sandy of VA, and Joseph Matos of NJ; 4 grandsons, Aidan, Robert Jr., Edward, and Peter.
No public services are planned at this time. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.

ETHEL R. LEAVITT

PITTSFIELD - Ethel Rae (Jay) Leavitt, 67, passed away peacefully at home Thursday morning, April 9, 2015. She was born July 17, 1947 in Houlton, a daughter of Raymond and Helen (Carmichael) Jay. She has moved on to Heaven to be with her parents and loving husband Leonard. She is survived by her son Bill Stineford and his wife Heidi; her daughter, Jerrylynn Perkins and husband Jason; her brothers, Jimmy Jay and Steven Jay; and her sisters, Linda Haughton and Deborah Moulton. She will be missed by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ethel was a kind and generous person who was known as Nana to friends and family alike. Nana enjoyed playing Bingo with her on-line friends who became family to her. She would spend many afternoons watching her birds and squirrels playing at their feeders. Her favorites were the hummingbirds.
Nana leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. She was always there to help friends and family and will forever be remembered for her generosity and giving spirit. Nana and Papa are now and forever will be the Guardian Angels watching over the family. Graveside committal services will be held 1:30 PM Saturday, May 16th at the Evergreen cemetery, Milo. Friends and family are invited to a gathering at Bill’s home on the Bennoch Road in LaGrange. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. HAROLD FREEMAN FLOOD

Harold Freeman Flood, 86, died November 4, 2014 in Pittsfield, Maine. Harold was born January 23, 1928 to Ben and Lizzie (Peabody) Flood in Albion, Maine.
He is survived by his children Frances, Andrew, Linda, Michael, Benny, Peter, Tina, Martin, Christine, Tricia, Aimee and Jennifer, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents and his son Harold (Joe).
A spring interment will be held at Reynolds cemetery in Burnham.

FLORA BELLE LAWLOR

CANAAN - Flora Belle Lawlor, 96, died April 14, 2015. She was born July 30, 1918 in Parishville, New York, a daughter of Orson and Allie (Shampine) Lyman. She was a Lutheran.
She is survived by her children, Pat and husband Bernie Monson, Nancy Pacifico, and Robert and wife Nancy Lawlor, all of NY, Judy and husband Mike Buskey of Canaan, and Lorraine and husband Danny Santerre of Waterville; a brother, Waldo Lyman of NY; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
Flora was predeceased by her husband Gerald, a granddaughter Desiree Terry, a great granddaughter Belle Marie Booth, and a brother Max Lyman.
Interment will be in New York. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.

DOROTHY MAE GARNETT

HARTLAND - Dorothy Mae Garnett, 89, died peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2015, in Hartland.
Dorothy was born on October 4, 1925, the daughter of the late George and Lucinda (Dewitt) Shakespeare. She attended Burnham schools and was employed for many years at Northeast Shoe and SAS Shoe. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, making beaded jewelry and creating all kinds of crafts. She loved taking walks, putting puzzles together, watching the birds, flower gardening, picking berries and raising her own vegetables. She liked to play Skipbo and took great pleasure in being the winner. She was a wonderful caregiver and will be lovingly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Stanley Shakespeare and wife, Una, of Hartland and Arizona, Ronnie Ramsdell and companion, Jennie Patterson, of Burnham, Clayton Ramsdell and wife, Dolores, of St. Albans and Paul Ramsdell and wife, Deborah, of Hartland; daughter, Beatrice Osborne of Carmel; former son-in-law, Keith Osborne of Palmyra; special niece, Jessie Huff and husband, James, of Burnham; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Clayton Ramsdell; her second husband, William Garnett; and a sister, Marion Humphrey.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Sanfield Rehab and Nursing for their wonderful care of Dorothy.
Memorial and committal services are private and will be held at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn.
Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

ROBERT E. HUGHES

CORINNA - Robert Edward Hughes, 80, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Robert was born July 11, 1934 in Newport, to Harold V. and Gwendolyn Louise (Bowley) Hughes.
He was a graduate of Corinna Union Academy, class of 1952, attended Fitchburg [MA] State College and served a four year apprenticeship at Saco Lowell Shops in Saco. Robert married Joanne (Petit) Hughes in 1956, and raised their family in Salem, NH. Robert enjoyed a career that spanned four decades at Raytheon Manufacturing Company in Andover, MA. As a Senior Engineer he worked on the Patriot missile; a source of pride he carried with him throughout his life. His work also allowed Robert to experience extensive travel, allowing him to explore much of the world.
Robert led a very active and full life. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and piloting his private plane. He was an accomplished musician and member of the Maine Country Music Association. Robert loved animals, especially his beloved dog, Sophie. He enjoyed time with his family at his camp on Big Indian Lake in St. Albans.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joanne (Petit) Hughes of Corinna; his son Steven H. Hughes and his significant other Lisa Walker of Corinna;, his daughter Alayne (Hughes) Flionis of Corinna; 3 grand-daughters, Jennifer (Flionis) Leighton and her husband Ryan Leighton of St. Albans, Kerrie (Flionis) Lattari and husband Ken Lattari of Saco, and Holly Hughes and her fiancé Corey Bonnevie of Chelsea; 2 great-grandsons Ryan and Caleb Leighton of St. Albans; and an extended network of family and friends.
Funeral services were held at 4 PM Friday, April 3rd, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. Friends called to the funeral home from 2 to 4 PM. Burial will be in the Corinna Center cemetery later in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 383 U. S. Route 1, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074; or online at http//alzfdn.org

NORMA BOOTH BALLARD

PITTSFIELD - Norma Booth Ballard, 88, passed away on March 23, 2015. Born on March 4th, 1927 to P. Carlton Booth and Matilda Mahaney, Norma was educated in Pittsfield schools, graduated from Maine Central Institute in 1945 and attended Thomas College in 1947.
Norma was employed by the Office of American Woolen Co., the Snowflake Canning Co., and Edwards Co. in Pittsfield. She retired April 1, 1987, from Staples Oil Company after 20 years employment.
Norma was married to Donald Ballard for 51 years and the couple spent their retirement years in Tavares, Florida, in the winter months and the summers at their Harriet Street home in Pittsfield.
Norma is predeceased by Donald (March 2002) and by her companion Bill (October 2009). She is survived by two sons, Robert Ballard and Marie of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Donald Jr and Sue Baker of Biddeford; two daughters, Gail Ross and companion, Dale Heath and Marsha Ballard and companion, Mike Braley, all of Pittsfield; eight grandsons, David Raye of Pittsfield, Michael and Carolynn Raye of Palmyra, Ryan and Sarah Ross of Pittsfield, Jared and Mia Ballard of Gorham, Caleb Ballard of Portland and Nathaniel, Alec and Robert Young, of Palmyra; two granddaughters, Amy and Jessica Ballard of South Carolina; five great grandsons, Andrew Ross of Pittsfield, Cooper Ballard of South Carolina, Zackery Raye of Pittsfield, Owen Ballard of Gorham and YesSir of South Carolina; three great-granddaughters, Molly Raye of Pittsfield, Estelle Ballard of Gorham and Remmi of South Carolina.
The family will received friends from 2 to 4 PM, Saturday, March 28th, 2015, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield.
A private memorial committal will be held at the Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery, in Augusta, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Donald.

BEULAH (MALCOLM) BREWER

ETNA - Beulah E. Brewer, 82, died March 29, 2015 at her residence following a long illness. She was born May 27, 1932 in Plymouth, a daughter of Perry and Gladys (Henderson) Malcolm, Sr. Beulah was employed at the Pineland Center in Pownal as a certified nurses aide, and worked for 23 years as a cook at The Breakers in Scarborough. She retired from Scarborough Terrace after 12 years of employment. She will be fondly remembered for traveling to family member’s homes to cook for family and friends, and also help with the cleaning.
She is survived by 2 brothers, Perry Malcolm, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of West Bath, and Dwayne Malcolm of Etna. Beulah was predeceased by a sister, Arlene Reynolds, 2 brothers, Floyd Malcolm, and Warren Malcolm and his wife Nancy, and a special friend, Kenneth Lawton.
A time of remembrance will be held at the Gold Crest Riders Snowmobile Club in Dixmont at noon Saturday, April 11th. Graveside committal services will be held at the Rogers cemetery, Troy, later in the spring. The Reverend Tim Curtis will officiate. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.

MERLINE H. HAMILTON

HARTLAND - Merline H. Hamilton, 81, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015, in Hartland. She was born on January 24, 1934, in Castle Hill, Maine, and was the wife of Perley M. Hamilton who died in 1993.
Merline loved and was loved by her family and friends. She was a hard worker. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, sewing, knitting reading, gardening and cooking. Since the mid 1990’s she worked at the Sunrise Café and Bakery in St. Albans. Annie and David Parsons were very special to her.
She is survived by her sisters, Bonita Carson and Ione Donnell; sister-in-law, Clarice “Tootsie” Tapley; nieces, Lori and husband, Lynn, Ramsay, Merline Carson and her children, Colby and Caleb Bean and Barbara Kennedy and her husband, Scott, and family; nephews, Paul Carson, Kendall Carson and wife, Tonya, Rique Carson, Terry Carson, Ronnie Tapley and wife, Linda, Alan Tapley and wife, Sarah, and family, niece, Diane Goodwin and her children and grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Allen and Grace (Doucette) Tapley; her husband, Perley M. Hamilton; brothers, David and Norman; and sisters, Daisy, Arlene, Shirley and Jeanette.
A private gathering will be held by the family.
Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

MARY MCGIBNEY

PITTSFIELD & LEIGH HIGH ACRES, FL - Mary McGibney, 96, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015. Mary was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Canada, the daughter of Hattie and Louis Carvell. In 1924, Mary and her family moved to Maine. Mary worked here in Maine for many years until she retired. She later moved to Florida to live with her daughter Shirley Steeves and her husband Tom who cared for Mary in these last few years of failing health.
Mary loved to travel and go on cruises. Mary loved living in Florida and lived life to the fullest.
Mary was predeceased by her parents; and five of her children, three daughters, Bette Faulkner, Marilyn Caruso, and Nancy York, two sons, Larry McGibney and Wes McGibney. Mary is survived by a sister Millie of Oregon; three children, daughters Shirley Steeves and husband Tom of Leigh high Acres, Fla., Pat Morgan and husband Svante Ramberg of Hartland, and son David McGibney of Seattle, Wash. Mary had 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
At Mary's request there will be no funeral. The family will have a private graveside service at a later date in Hartland.

EDWARD G. CROSS

PITTSFIELD & DETROIT - Edward Galen Cross, 69, died March 20, 2015 at a Hartland living center. He was born March 26, 1945 in Stetson, a son of Louis and Viola (Frost) Cross. He was employed as a truck driver for L.C. Archer and Sons in Stetson, a lumber and sawmill operation. Ed was a past member of the Detroit Fire Department and volunteered at the Pittsfield Food Cupboard.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Bonnie and husband Maurice McDougal of Pittsfield, Bunnie Adams of Lewiston, Angelica Rose Cross of Portland; a brother, Carl and wife Judy Cross of Hartland; 4 grandchildren, Anthony and wife Ashlie Cross, Kevin and wife Danielle Cross, Jonathan Cross, and Ericka and husband Ben Weeman; 1 great grandson, Shane Cross.
Ed was predeceased by brothers James, John, Ivan, Rodney and Aubrey Cross, and sisters Mary Nickerson, Daisy Hatch, and Helen Cross.
Graveside committal services will be held at Clark’s Hill cemetery, Stetson, later in the spring. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island; Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.

MARGIE A. KASPRZAK

PALMYRA - Margie Ann Kasprzak, 58, died March 12, 2015 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born November 29, 1956 in Boston, Massachusetts, a daughter of Adam and Margaret (Kenney) Kasprzak. She graduated from Brighton High School and had been employed as a transcriber in the state court system.
Margie enjoyed cooking, but her passions were watching her son play baseball and watching the Boston Red Sox.
She is survived by her mother of Palmyra; a son, Justin of Palmyra; her siblings, Julie and husband Brian McCann of New Hampshire, E. Adam and wife Suz Kasprzak of Newport, Laure and husband David Moody of Pittsfield, Michael and wife Cindy Kasprzak of Bangor, Thomas and wife Gaye Kasprzak of Newport, James Kasprzak of Dover-Foxcroft, and Paul and wife Karen Kasprzak of Kansas; many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Sebasticook Valley Hospital, the caregivers at Care and Comfort, and the friends that helped care for Margie during this time. They would especially like to thank Brian for his devotion to Margie’s care.
Friends called from 4 to 6 PM Wednesday, March 18th at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where services were held at 11 AM Thursday with Deacon Fred Harrigan officiating. Spring burial will be in the Palmyra Village cemetery.
