THELMA R. TUCKER

PITTSFIELD - Thelma Ruth (Hunt) Tucker, 87, died March 11, 2015. She was born September 15, 1927 in Clinton, a daughter of Clayton and Marion (Towers) Hunt. She graduated from Clinton High School, Class of 1944, and after her children were grown, received her LPN degree from a nursing school in New Jersey in 1976. Thelma was employed at the Hackensack Medical Center throughout her career. She and her husband Richard C. “Dick” raised their family in Ridgefield Park, NJ. After retiring they moved to Bristol, Maine, where they enjoyed living near the ocean. Thelma was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Ridgefield Park, Damariscotta and Pittsfield. She was an avid gardener, baker and reader. She loved baseball, animals, and especially her grandchildren, some who affectionately called her “Mimi”.
She is survived by her son, Richard and wife Heather of Hartland; 2 daughters, Pam and husband Stephen Schwartz of Ft. Collins, CO, Penny and husband Gary Smallman of Number Four, NY; 2 sisters, Lois and husband Fred Shores of Albion, and Dorothy Ouillette of Augusta; 6 grandchildren, Rebecca, Julia, Theodore, Colleen, Hannah, and Daniel; 5 step grandchildren; 1 great grandson Colton; and her beloved cat Lucky Girl.
In addition to her loving husband of 60 years, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Kendra Rose Schwartz.
The family wishes to thank all of her caregivers in the Pittsfield community.

WILLMA A. CONNELL CALLAHAN

ORANGE CITY, FL AND HARTLAND - Willma Callahan 75, of Orange City passed away on February the 22nd 2015. Willma was born on August the 20th 1939 to Joseph and Barbara Connell in Saint Albans, Maine. Before moving to Orange City, Florida she raised their family in Middleboro, Massachusetts. Willma was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Barbara Connell and brother Byron Connell. She leaves behind her husband Joseph M. Callahan Jr., children Amy (Steve) Mintz, Joe (Antonieta) Callahan, and Patrick Callahan; Two grandchildren Matthew Mintz and Brady Callahan and Sister Bonnie Nickerson. Willma loved cooking, reading and enjoyed going shopping.
Funeral services were held at Baldauff Family Funeral Home 1233 Saxon Blvd. in Orange City, FL. on Saturday February the 28th, 2015 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to floridahospitalhospice.org.

JANE ELIZABETH LIBBY HOLMES

PLYMOUTH - Jane Elizabeth (Libby) Holmes 79 passed peacefully in her sleep March 14, 2015.
She was born in Hyannis Massachusetts the daughter of Charles A. and Grace (Anderson) Libby.
She was predeceased by her younger brother David Libby and younger sister Cynthia Libby.
She is survived by her husband David Joseph Holmes of Plymouth, her older brother John Libby of New Woodstock, N.Y., four children Ronda J Kopra of Nashville, Tenn., John D. Holmes Bottero of Nobleboro, Me, David J Holmes Jr. of Plymouth, and Deanne J. Nomura of Glenburn, GA, 12 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jane, was accomplished in countless events and activities in her life. Daughter of Charles and Grace she was a farm girl and fisherman’s daughter on Cape Cod with her family. She was married to Renato Bottero in the fifties and had two children and then to David Holmes in 1962 and had two more children. They moved to Plymouth Maine in 1968 the wife of sculptor David. She supported his sculpting while raising the family of four. She had been employed by CETA in the 70's and assisted in many community events. The re-enactment Benedict Arnolds March to take Quebec in 1975 she filled in as one of three cooks to feed the troops when there was an accident to the head cook. Maine Stone Workers Guild was one part of her efforts in the arts. She was ambassador of Plymouth Maine as she toured the Plymouths of the world representing our town and state. She found great peace and enjoyment with husband David as they toured and sculpted in New Zealand for many years in the 90's onward. Creating links and teaching the local artists there, they both worked hard to facilitate stone working and design technique.
In the early 90's she represented the Maine Arts as she sailed on the Maine Maritime Ship on their cruise to Europe and Russia with exhibits. She loved the trip and met a great many people. She was a people person and enjoyed talking and helping to a fault.
She and her husband, David participated in many community bands over the years as she loved to play the bells and marimba They played in the Dover Community Band, the Circus Band in Bucksport, Sebasticook Community Band and more.
Jane owns the rights to the Maine State Tartan and Tweed. She was very proud to furnish the Maine State Police Pipe and Drummers the Tartan for their Uniforms.
She loved to garden and enjoyed her flowers to the end. She was an avid lover of frogs and turtles, as they adorned her jewelry.
As a CNA she assisted the elderly and worked with Eastern Agency on the Aging providing in home services.
In the past few weeks of her life she was adamant about bringing the Poem "A Crabbit Old Woman" to the aides and workers in the home she was going to. She wanted to facilitate honor and respect for the elderly with a poetic touch. She wrote many poems in her life; her final one to David Jr, a day before her passing.
Celebration of life service will be announced at a time and date in the spring, at a place so all who knew her and worked with her can meet and say good bye in the time she loved the most. Spring! ALTHEA (DEARBORN) EMERY

DOVER-FOXCROFT & BANGOR - Althea Emery, 90, died March 13, 2015 at a Bangor nursing facility. She was born March 10, 1925 in Corinna, a daughter of Erwin and Christena (Welch) Dearborn. She attended Corinna Union Academy and worked many years in area nursing homes before retiring from Dexter Shoe Company. She was a member of the Dover-Foxcroft United Baptist Church and attended the Hermon Baptist Church. She enjoyed camping, fishing and snowmobiling with family and friends. Saturday night card games with the neighbors was always a hit. Althea shared the love of horse drawn covered wagons with her husband Colby and brother Everett, raising funds for Operation Lift Off.
She is survived by a son, Jerry and wife Darlene of Dover-Foxcroft; 2 daughters, Sharon Stevens of Bangor, and Kristy Emery of Storrs, CT; grandchildren Robin of Bangor, Renee of Bucksport, Tammy and Bernadette of S. Portland, Betty and husband Don of Corinth, Andy of Windsor, Terri of Ocala, FL, Tina of Morgantown, WV; 13 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
Althea was predeceased by her husband Colby; siblings, Peggy, Roberta, Everett, and Alice; and grandson Sean and great grandson Charles.
Funeral services were held 4 PM Monday, March 16th at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, with the Rev. John Nickerson officiating. Spring burial will be in the Morse’s Corner cemetery, Corinna.

SHIRLEY ANN RUSSELL

DEXTER - Shirley Ann Russell, 83, died March 13, 2015 in Dexter at the home of her daughter. She was born November 28, 1931, in Northbridge, MA, the daughter of William and Angeline (St. Onge) Durant.
She worked at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor as an RN for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Kelley Grandmaison, 2 grandchildren, Rebecca and Michael, all of Dexter; siblings, Ann Turner and Dale Durant of MA, and Roger Durant of NC; several nieces and nephews.
At her request no public services are planned. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.

BEVERLY A. FERRIS

DETROIT - Beverly A. Ferris, 77, passed away Tuesday, March 10th, at her home in Detroit.
She was born on September 24, 1937, in Detroit, ME, the daughter of the late Norman and Alice Brann. She received her nursing degree from Kennebec Valley Community College and was employed as a nurse for several years at Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center in Bangor.
Beverly spent many hours knitting with her beloved dog, Cuddles, by her side. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing games on her iPad, playing cards, especially Skip-bo, and going out to eat at the local restaurants. In her younger years, fishing was a favorite past time as well as camping at Seboomook Lake with her family. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and had fond memories with him visiting the Amish country in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
She is survived by her son, Raymond K. Ferris Jr of Detroit; daughters, Brenda S. Keniston of Freeport, Trish A. Johnson and her boyfriend, Jed Lauriat, of Ellsworth and Melanie J. McGowan and husband, Jeffery, of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond K. Ferris Sr in 2003; daughter, Cindy Jo Ferris in 2014; and four brothers.
A graveside service will be held at noon, on Sunday, June 28th, at the Village cemetery, Route 220, in Detroit, with the Rev. Julianne Bousquet officiating. A gathering will follow the committal.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mount Hope Avenue, Bangor, Maine, 04401, in Beverly’s memory.
Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

RALPH E. LINKLETTER

HARTLAND & WELLINGTON - Ralph Ernest Linkletter, 84, died March 9, 2015 at a Hartland nursing facility. He was born September 18, 1930, a son of Calvin and A. Edna (Marble) Linkletter. He retired from Irving Tannery in Hartland and had also been employed at Bath Iron Works and at the family farm.
He is survived by 3 children, Guy Linkletter of Florida, Edna and husband David Avery and Rebecca Corson, all of Athens; 6 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ralph was predeceased by a daughter Tammy Linkletter, and his longtime companion, Louise Corson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, March 23rd, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, with the Rev. David Ray, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Mount Rest cemetery, Athens, in the spring.

LAWRENCE J. DELLAMATTERA

NEWPORT - Lawrence John DellaMattera, 70, passed away March 3, 2015. Larry was born August 28, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Pio and Marie (Marieni) DellaMattera. He graduated from Xaverian High School in New York City, where he was a National Merit Finalist, and attended Fordham University.
Larry, a passionate and gregarious man, cherished his family and lived life fully. His enthusiasm and holiday spirit brought joy to all at Christmas. Larry loved nature and was committed to animal rights. He was a poet and a chef extraordinaire, much to the delight of his family and friends. Larry enjoyed annual vacations with his wife Joanne (and their two cats) in Prince Edward Island, and was thrilled when other family members joined them.
In addition to Joanne, his beloved wife of 35 years, Larry is survived by his children, Ken, Nancy, and Peter DellaMattera, and Ron Banks. Dayong Wen was also like a son to him. He adored his grandchildren, Em and Alli DellaMattera. Larry is also survived by his treasured sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Bill Fitzgerald, their children Billy and Mary (Murray) and their families, and many dear cousins.
In accordance with Larry’s wishes, his family will be hosting a private celebration of his life.

BETTY J. BUTLER

CORINNA - Betty Jean Butler, 78, died March 9, 2015, 32 years to the date of her husband Carl’s passing, at Dexter Health Care surrounded by her family. She was born July 4, 1936 in Levant a daughter of Reuben and Beatrice (Richards) Call.
She enjoyed gardening and was a full time homemaker raising her 4 children. She also enjoyed spending many hours playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with her friends at Sunshine Village.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Chip and Wanda Butler of Newport, Allen and Sheilla of Dover-Foxcroft, Donna and Bryan Cochran, and Scott and Heather, all of Corinna; 10 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 1 great grandson; and a great great grandson.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by an infant son, a grandson, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral services were held at 1 PM on Thursday, March 12th at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna, with the Rev. Michael Wilber officiating. Friends called from noon until the time of services. Spring burial will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dexter. Memorial donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine, 87 Elm Street; Suite 203, Camden, ME 04843.

DOROTHY MAE (DAVIS) PERKINS

CAMBRIDGE - Dorothy Mae (Davis) Perkins, 76, died March 8, 2015, at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born in Cambridge, August 9, 1938, the third daughter of Harold and Hazel (Chadbourne) Davis.
She married Harold Perkins September 14, 1957, and they had been married for 57 years when he predeceased her in 2014. She was also predeceased by her beloved son, Brett, who died in 1980; and two brothers, Herbert Bruce Davis in 2013, and Richard Davis in 2014. Dottie and her brother, Bruce, had many good times together. He would fly home and stayed with her for 3 to 4 weeks. He also visited with other family members and friends. She is survived by two much loved sons, Kim Perkins of Dexter, and Hal Perkins of Cambridge; two sisters, with whom she was very close, Beverly and husband, Frank Quimby of Stockton Springs and Brooksville, FL, and Virginia Murphy of Peabody, MA. She adored her two grandchildren, Darci Lynn Perkins and Aaron Brett Perkins. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Eva Davis, of Cambridge. Also, a very special friend of Hal’s, Tammy Getchell; and a very special friend of Kim’s, Laura Rand, who were loving additions to her family. She loved her family very much; family was very important to her. Priceless memories were made with all of them.
There were also two other people in her life whom she adored and they were both affectionately known as sisters, Harold’s sister, Bethany who was as dear a sister as could be, who visited with us several times a year. Thanks for the delicious dinners out at Angler’s. She was so loving, caring, and generous.. you were loved. The other “sis” in her life was her niece, Elaine Russell. She loved her with all her heart. She was so kind and compassionate. Dorothy considered herself doubly blessed because she was her niece and her friend. Another dear friend was Kathy Hallett with whom she played scrabble almost every afternoon for the past few winters. Dorothy had many many more special dear friends and relatives in her life, and had many happy memories spending time with all of them.
At her request, family and friends will be invited to a memorial service that will be held in the spring at a date to be announced, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street in Dexter, followed by a committal service at the Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Cambridge. Dottie and Harold will be put to rest beside their beloved son, Brett.
