MARLENE C. VANCE

PITTSFIELD - Marlene C. Vance, 76, of Pittsfield, passed away on February 17, 2015 at Sebasticook Valley Hospital after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family who dearly loved her.
Marlene was born January 17, 1939 in Albion to Rinaldo A. Bennett & Izetta C. (Boody) Bennett.
Soon after graduating from Winslow High School in 1957, she met the love of her life, Bill. They married on June 29, 1958.
Marlene was a loving wife & mother. She dedicated her life to her husband & two sons, for she believed caring for them was her purpose in life. Her loving heart, kindness & generosity extended to all her family & friends. Her home was frequently a haven to those in need, or a place to keep the family united.
Besides her family, Marlene was passionate about cooking, gardening, dancing, reading, & playing cards. She continued to always help others by being an active, productive member of the Kiwanis Club for over 10 years. She also held secretarial positions at different times of her life, including Keyes Fibre in Waterville & Edwards Company in Pittsfield.
Marlene is survived by her loving sons, Steven R. Vance & his wife Christine of Palmyra, Dirk W. Vance of Pittsfield, brother, Ora (Red) Bennett & his wife Mary, of Albion, and sister, Nancy Martin of Corinna. Grandchildren: Derrick Vance, Devan Vance, Savannah Brown, Sage Vance, & Skylar Vance. Great grandchildren: Damien, Julianna, Trinity, & Dominick Vance. Nieces & nephews: Brooke Bennett, Bill Jessup, Mike Jessup, John Ames, Jean Abbott, Jacqueline Ames-Pfaller, Brent Martin, & Courtney Martin.
She is predeceased by her husband, William H, Vance, her parents, sisters, Joan Bennett-Ames, & Barbara Jessup, and her father & mother-in-law, Robert & Bertha Vance.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the First Baptist Church located at 245 Main Street in Pittsfield, followed by a celebration of life. A graveside committal will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the Heart Association.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, & CNA’s at SVH for their extraordinary care & kindness to Marlene.

WILLIAM CALLAHAN MURRAY, SR.

NEWPORT - William Callahan Murray, Sr., 79, passed away February 7, 2015 at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield following a long illness. He was born June 7, 1935, in Keene, NH a son of Frederick and Julia (Callahan) Murray, Sr.
Bill graduated from Keene High School in 1953. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1954, trained at Camp Lejeune, NC, and was stationed in Hawaii and Japan until July of 1961. Bill was employed at Howard Johnson, Frozen Food Division, in Brockton, MA for 8 years and later lived in Los Angeles. He moved to Strong, ME where he built a house.
He enjoyed living in and exploring various parts of the country and moved back to California where he worked doing maintenance at Huntington Park Hospital for 5 years. His travels took him back to North Glen, CO for 13 years and on to Florida. Bill moved back to Newport where he was employed at Lovley’s Motel until his retirement in 2003.
Bill is survived by his wife (of 11 years) and childhood friend from Keene, NH, Betty (Washburn) Murray of Newport; his sons, William and wife Sylvia Murray, Jr., Louis Murray, grandson Callahan and great grandson, Holden Jack, all of CO; sister, Jane Lessels of Concord, NH; sister in law, Constance Murray of Keene, NH. Other survivors include Betty’s son, David and wife Donna Constine, and their sons, Eric and Nicholas all of FL and Michael of NE; Betty’s brother, Barry and wife Janice Washburn of NH; Betty’s sister, Carole and husband Paul Davis of NH.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Frederick Murray, Jr.; and infant siblings Elaine and Dale.
Bill was a member of the Newport Senior Citizens. He will be missed by his many friends, and his beloved pets, Precious and Teddie. The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Sebasticook Valley Hospital for the wonderful care he received during his admissions.
“Even though my heart is heavy, I will always know that you will be taken care of on the other side. Farewell until we meet again. Love and thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.”
Graveside services will be held in the summer at St. Joseph cemetery, Keene, NH. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Please omit flowers.

BARBARA VANADESTINE

HARTLAND - Barbara Vanadestine, 75, passed away at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, VT on February 3rd, 2015 with her daughter and grandchildren by her side after a battle with lung cancer. Born August 12th, 1939, she was the daughter of Jennie and Richard Vandestine of Hartland, ME. Barbara loved her family very much and was known for her honesty, integrity and willingness to help those she loved. Barbara was a retired State of CT employee who enjoyed country music, animals, and traveling to VT. She is survived by her sisters Edith Bell, Donna Peterson, and Linda Bell; by her daughter, Beverly Trudelle; as well as her grandchildren, Danielle Sachs and Arthur Trudelle; and great grandchild Thatcher Sachs. Her services will be on May 16th, 2015 at 1 PM at the Pine Grove Cemetary in Hartland, ME. RICHARD PEPPARD

PITTSFIELD - Richard "Dick" Peppard passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 7, 2015. He was born February 12, 1936. Son of the late Cecil and Doris (Shields) Peppard.
He graduated from Freedom Academy in 1954. He worked in Shoe Manufacturing for most of his adult life. Since his retirement, he has enjoyed spending time with family and friends, at his camp on Chemo Pond in Clifton, Maine. He also took pleasure in a good game of cribbage and spending time at the Elks.
He is predeceased by his son Rick Peppard; sisters Martha and Doris Mae; and brother Roland.
He is survived by his wife Charlene (Bryant) and children Randall Peppard of Sturbridge, MA; Rhonda Frye and husband Jeremy of Newport, ME; Roger Peppard and companion Shelley Jasmin of Dexter, ME; grandchildren Matthew Caldwell, wife Shandrea and children Alexis and Hayden of Pittsfield, ME; Melissa Roberts, husband Jacob and son Lucian of Biddeford, ME; Shannon Peppard and daughters Hali, Riley, and Sophie of Pittsfield, ME; Dustyn Peppard of Orono, ME; Tyler Peppard of Pittsfield, ME; and large extended family.
At his request, there will be no services.

THOMAS M. MURDOCK, SR.

DEXTER - Thomas M. Murdock, Sr., 67, died February 6, 2015, at his home in Dexter. He was born in Dexter, October 4, 1947, the son of John and Irene (Williams) Murdock.
He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by 2 sons, Thomas Murdock, Jr. and his wife, Misty of Danielson, CT, and Geoffrey Murdock of Dexter; the mother of his children, Debra Murdock of Corinna; 2 sisters, Marylou Paul and her husband, Robert of Portland, and Sally Ann Murdock of Dexter; 3 grandchildren, Leah, Zachary, and Alex Murdock, all of Danielson, CT; 2 nieces, Shawna Paul, and Morgan Murdock.
No public services are planned at this time. Cremation arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.

CHARLES E. MORRIS, JR.

DEXTER - Charles E. Morris, Jr., 65, died February 3, 2015, at his home in Dexter. He was born in Burlington, March 22, 1949, the son of Charles and Madeline Morris, Sr.
He was a loving husband and father, and was always anxious to help others.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Belinda (Bounival) Morris; 7 children, Charles Morris III, Barbara Grover and her husband, Tony, Lena Janes and her husband, Dallas, Melissa Perez and her husband, Julio, Tanya Morris, Crystal Morris, and Richard Morris; 14 grandchildren; and 1 great grandson.
No public services will be held at this time. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.

MICHAEL C. KAHERL

NORRIDGEWOCK — Michael C. Kaherl, 48, died at his home on Friday, August 21, 2015, after having a courageous battle with cancer this past year.
He was born on June 26, 1967, in Hartland, Maine, one of five children to Eugene and Mildred (Smith) Kaherl. He graduated from Nokomis High School with the class of 1986 and had worked at the Hartland Tannery for 23 years.
Michael was known as a daredevil and jokester. He enjoyed gaming, playing pool and watching cartoons, especially the Power Rangers. One of his favorite things was just hanging out with his family and friends.
He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Darlene Kaherl of Norridgewock; mother, Mildred Kaherl of Hartland; daughter, Katrina Antonino and husband, Stephen, of Skowhegan; stepdaughters, Terry Wilbur of Georgia and Stephanie “Sissy” Hutchins of Norridgewock; grandchildren, Savannah and Selena Antonino, Allison Farrar, Valerie Hutchins, Casey Glover, Brian Farrar and Julie Hutchins; siblings, Madeline “Lynn” Brann and husband, Alton, of Harmony, Linda Holt and husband, Tim, of Ripley, Harvey Kaherl and wife, Larana, of Madison and Sheila Frost of Hartland; and many loved nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Eugene Kaherl.
A time of visitation was held from 6-8 PM, Monday, August 24, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, at the Pine Grove cemetery, Route 152, Hartland, where he was laid to rest beside his father.
Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

ADAM D. VILES

HARTLAND — Adam D. Viles, 35 died unexpectedly on Thursday August 20, 2015. Adam was born on August 30, 1979 in Waterville, Maine.
Adam was 1997 graduate of Nokomis Regional High School in Newport and had been employed at HH Brown Distribution Center in Dexter for the past fourteen years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, truck and tractor pulls, and concerts. Adam was a member of the Palmyra Snowmobile Club and a vital member of his dad's "Wicked Good Vintage Race Team" and Pit Crew.
Adam was predeceased by his grandparents George and Helen Bowman of St. Albans and Bernice and Lester Viles of Tamworth, NH.
Survivors include his son, Alex Viles of Hartland, his parents Lori and Roger Raymond of Hartland, Kenneth Viles of Belfast, siblings; Jeremy and Sarah, Viles of Houston, TX, Deanna and Samantha Viles of Fairfield, a special niece, Callie and a special nephew, Oliver, several aunts, uncles, and cousins,
Friends may call Sunday, August 30th, 2015 from 1 to 3 PM at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center 34 High Street, Newport Graveside Services will be conducted immediately following the visitation at the Pine Grove cemetery Hartland.

COREY J. DODGE

GARLAND — Corey Dodge, 40, died August 22, 2015 in Kabul, Afghanistan as the result of a terrorist car bomb attack on his NATO convoy.
He was born October 31, 1974 in Dover-Foxcroft, a son of Ronnie and Letha (Reed) Dodge. He graduated from Dexter Regional High School, Class of 1993. Corey served in the U. S. Army. He had worked at the Maine State Prison, the Dexter Police Department and with the Knox County Sheriff’s office in Rockland, where he was named deputy of the year in 2002. For the past 9 years he had been working in Afghanistan training police officers and later, escorting high-ranking government officials as security detail with DynCorp International based in Virginia.
Corey left this world a brave man. His love for his family saw no boundaries. He died while protecting our freedoms doing a job he was so proud of. He touched the lives of so many, putting 150 % into everything he did. He was just recently home in June and took his family on vacation to the outer banks of North Carolina. He returned on duty July 6th and was due home again for good on October 9th.
In addition to his parents of Dexter; Corey is survived by his high school crush and ever loving wife, Kelli Dodge of Garland; and their children, Samantha Duarte Dodge, 20, of Sangerville, Connor Larson, 17, Peyton Dodge, 7, and Blake Dodge, 3, all of Garland; his older brother Ronnie Dodge, Jr. of Harmony; sisters, Tammy Dodge and fiancé Christopher Werren of Newport, and Hollie Dodge and fiancé Matt Race of Dexter; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandparents; several aunts and uncles, including a special uncle Glendon Dodge of Newport.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, September 2nd at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Exeter. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dexter. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter. Memorial donations may be made to the Maine State Troopers Foundation, 28 Meadow Road, Augusta, ME 04330.

NATHANIEL JOSEPH NOBLE

PALMYRA — Nathaniel Joseph Noble, 5 months, died of heart complications on August 12, 2015 at his great-grandparent’s house in South Berwick, ME. Nathaniel was born on March 9, 2015 with five congenital heart defects. Of those five, four of them were extremely rare. He had two open heart surgeries within his five months with us. He will be greatly missed by his parents Phillip and Exandra Noble, sisters Gabrielle and Jazmyn Noble of Palmyra, his grandparents Shaunna and Donnie James of Pittsfield, Rebecca and Charles Noble of Palmyra, Melonie and Lenwood Cole of Rochester, NH, great-grandparents Deborah and Robert Harrison of South Berwick, Darryl and Tom Hopkins of MA and Dwayne Malcolm of Plymouth, ME as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. You will forever be in our hearts Nathaniel Joseph Noble. We will always and forever love you baby boy. There has been an account set up for any persons wishing to make a memorial donation to help the family with funeral expenses. Donations will be accepted at SVFCU in Newport and Pittsfield under account number 35180.

NATALIE L. BRALEY

TROY — Natalie L. Braley, 77, of Troy, died August 23, 2015 at home with her daughters by her side. She was born March 26, 1938 in Middletown, Connecticut. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick L. Braley of Troy. Natalie is survived by four children, Sheryl Durkee and husband Kevin of Islesboro, Allen Randall of Islesboro, Robin Randall and husband Adam of Jonesport and Tambara Boudreau and husband Jeremy of Vassalboro; grandchildren Anthony, Danielle, Taniele, Makenzie, Ashley, Reed, Ryan, Robin, Heather, Jake, Caleb, and Kate; great-grandchildren Bobby, John, Calvin, Rebecca and Doug. She is also survived by two brothers, Enos Schissler and his wife Judy and George Schissler and wife Robin; two sisters Barbara Schissler of Texas, Regina Schissler and close friend and sister in law, Maxine Schissler. Natalie was known for her love of cooking and keeping us all well fed. Her daughters called her often for recipe tips. The best times were barbecues on her back lawn with all her family and friends. She looked forward every year to visits and spoke daily to her sisters, Elsie and Barbara, who lived out of state. Her sister Elsie Autunno of New Britain, Connecticut passed away just six days before Natalie, and her family is comforted knowing they are together again. She loved her dog Bud, and she will be missed by him as well.
Graveside services were held at 11 AM Saturday August 29th, 2015 at Rogers cemetery in Troy. A reception followed at Tambara’s home in Vassalboro.
Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
