KELVIN L. HARTLEY

GARLAND — Kelvin Lee Hartley, 57, died June 5, 2015 at a Bangor hospital. He was born October 15, 1957 in Dexter, a son of Albert and Marilyn (Towle) Hartley. He graduated from Dexter Regional High School, Class of 1976. Kelvin had many occupations over the years but was happiest with the job he had retired from due to failing health: the cook at Pittston Farms. He was also an avid and well known fly fisherman.
In addition to his parents; and wife of 35 years, Tammy (Haskell) Hartley, he is survived by a son, Chad and significant other, Pam Smith of Garland; 2 daughters, Stacy and husband Fred Gallant of Buxton, Kelly and husband Justin Dent of Millville, PA; his siblings, Kayla Nelson of California, Karl Hartley of Parkman, and Kent Hartley of Dexter; a granddaughter, Terrah Dent; several nieces and nephews; and his great dog Abby.
A graveside committal service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, June 20th, at West Garland cemetery. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter. Memorial donations may be made to the Safe Place Food Pantry, 328 Main Street, Corinth, ME 04427.

BUCK LEE CHARLES

CORINNA — Buck Lee Charles, 20, died unexpectedly on June 6th, 2015 in Plymouth due to an automobile accident. He was born in Bangor on May 21st, 1995, the son of Glenn MacAuther and Hallie lee (Hower) Charles. Buck was a graduate of Nokomis Regional High School in Newport, class of 2014; during this time he attended Tri County Vocational Tech School in Dexter taking the Precision Machining Course. He worked at McKenney Machine in Corinna for three years. For the past year, he attended Central Maine Community College in Lewiston. He was a former Boy Scout in Troop 65 of Corinna. He loved the outdoors especially while snowmobiling on his Ski-Doo, hunting, and fishing. He was a good friend to many, always smiling and joking. He was always helping others and helping friends in the community. He was loved by “everyone who knew him.” Buck loved to attend Antique Auto Car Shows with his father “Big Buck”. He is survived by his father Glenn “Big Buck” Charles of Corinna, his grandmother Lue V. Charles of Corinna, his twin sister, Georgia H. Charles of Corinna, 3 aunts, Cheryl Charles of Corinna, Kimberly Stetson and her husband Josh of Hermon, Michelle Paris of Newport, one uncle, William Charles and his wife Misty of Monson, several more aunts uncles and cousins. A celebration of Buck’s Life was held from 9 AM to 4 PM Saturday, June 13th, 2015 at “Big Buck’s” house on 297 Airport Road in Corinna. A scholarship fund is being set up in Buck’s memory. EVELYN G. BROOKS

CORINNA — Evelyn G. Brooks, 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 5, 2015 at a Dexter nursing home. She was born May 22, 1919 in Boylston, MA, the daughter of Herbert and Grace (Starbard) Brooks. Moving to Maine at the age of 7, Evelyn spent most of her life in Corinna. She graduated from Corinna Union Academy as valedictorian of the Class of 1938.
Evelyn was employed at local woolen mills in Corinna and Dexter for most of her adult life. After retiring, she could be found working in her flower and vegetable gardens, playing her piano, or helping her friends out. Evelyn was the secretary for the Corinna Union Academy Alumni Association for many years.
The Coulimore children along with Esther and Brent Ireland would like to thank Pine Tree Hospice, Dexter Health Care, Dr. Leslie Fernow and New Beginnings for their care of our “Auntie Evelyn” these past few years, with special thanks to nurse Robin and hospice volunteer Doris for their care of Evelyn during this time.
A graveside funeral and committal service will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, June 16th at Morse’s Corner cemetery, Corinna. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pine Tree Hospice, 883 W. Main Street, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, Corinna. .

STANLEY G. BROWN

GUILFORD — Stanley G. Brown, 83, died June 10, 2015, at his home with his family at his side. He was born August 18, 1931, in Etna, the son of Clarence and Gertrude (Bartlett) Brown.
He worked as a farmer for much of his life and later at Hardwood Products in Guilford. Stanley also served as a volunteer fireman for Guilford for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marion (Woodard) Brown of Guilford; a brother, Richard Brown of Guilford; a sister, Amber Marston and her husband, Faughn of Camden; children, Sheldon Woodard and his wife, Donna of Harmony, Marlon Woodard and his wife, Karen of Guilford, and Virginia Brown and her companion, Charles Wells of Guilford; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, including a granddaughter, Marion LaDawn Rathburn, whom Stanley and Marion raised.
He was predeceased by his parents; 3 daughters, Glendene Woodard, Deborah Brown, and Charlene Williams; and a brother, Dwight Brown.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, June 27th, 2015, at the Lawn cemetery in Guilford. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Guilford.

JOAN G. ZIKORUS

PITTSFIELD - Joan G. Zikorus, 83, died peacefully on Thursday, May 28, at her home in Pittsfield.
Joan was born on April 13, 1932, in Easton, Maine, the daughter of the late Richard and Hope (Higgins) Boone. She graduated from Foxcroft Academy with the class of 1950. She worked for many years at the Sebasticook Valley Hospital as an operating room technician. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and was a wonderful baker. She liked reading, sewing and really enjoyed dancing in her early years. She had a fun sense of humor and loved spending time with all of her brothers and sisters, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her four sons, Scott Hall and wife, Kris, of Derry, NH, Russ Hall and wife, Dena, of Pittsfield, Rob Hall and wife, Terri, of Pittsfield and Randy Hall and wife, Tracey, of Lisbon Falls; nine grandchildren, Chelsea, Heather, Ben and his wife, Natalia, Jason, Jimmy, Taylor, Kyle, Alex and Alyssa; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Clarice Sloat Call of Dover-Foxcroft and Sheila Lyons and husband, Jon, of Masardis; and brothers, Bill Boone and wife, Charlotte and Burt Boone and wife, Joeene, all of Dover-Foxcroft; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Albert Zikorus; son, Roger Hall; brothers, Richard Boone Jr. and Roger Boone; and her sister, Judy Alexa.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Barbara Wade and Mona Washington for their loving care of Joan.
Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Joan’s memory.
A Celebration of Life was held from 1 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, June 2nd, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A private committal was held by the immediate family at the Village cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, in Pittsfield.
“Remember me when flowers bloom, early in the spring; Remember me on sunny days, in the fun that summer brings. Remember me in the fall, as you walk through leaves of gold; In the wintertime, remember me, in the stories that are told. MARILYN REGINA COOK

PITTSFIELD, ME & ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Marilyn Regina (Mosher) Cook entered into rest May 24, 2015 at Northside Hospital, St. Petersburg with her loving family by her side. She was born in Farmington, ME, April 12, 1936 to Bertha Geneva Ridley Mosher and Reginald Horace Mosher.
She graduated from Jay High in 1954. Growing up she worked part time pumping gas for her father at his garage and at a sporting camp in Rangeley, ME. Following graduation she worked for Turner & Ridley where she met & married her husband Richard on August 11, 1958. She later worked with her husband at Agway, Inc. as his secretary.
She became a member of Washburn Chapter #52, O.E.S. in Livermore, ME on November 17, 1959 later affiliating with Bethlehem Chapter #36, O.E.S. on January 17, 1980. She served as Worthy Matron to Bethlehem Chapter for 2 years in 1984 and 1985, receiving her life membership on March 18, 2010.
In 1986 she retired with her husband, wintering at Settlers Rest RV Park in Zephyrhills. She was active in many park activities, serving as Treasurer for many years. She sang in the choir, was an active member of Bible study, she was supportive of Hospice and the visiting Seminary students that came to the park each Sunday during season.
Marilyn and her husband raised seven children, she also helped with raising two grandsons and many other children benefitted from her care.
She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Richard, her parents and an infant older sister Joanne.
She is survived by her seven children, Donna Rowell and her husband Larry of Hartland, ME, Douglas Cook and his wife Mary of Pittsfield, ME and Rockledge, FL, David Cook and Pixie Nolan, Belfast, ME, Debra Cook, St. Petersburg, FL, Diane Howard and her husband David, Myakka City, FL, Darlene Campbell, Townsend, MA, Richard Cook, Jr. and his wife Jodi of Corinna, ME. She is also survived by her sisters, Judy Lane and her husband Raymond of North Jay, ME, and Linda Therrien and her husband William of Jay, ME, 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
An Eastern Star service will be held on Sunday, July 26th at 2 PM at the Village cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethlehem Chapter #36 ESTARL, c/o Cynthia Lewis 360 Somerset Ave. Pittsfield, ME 04967 or to the Suncoast Hospice Foundation, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd. Clearwater, FL 33670, in Marilyn’s memory.

LESLIE A. BORELLI

PITTSFIELD - Leslie Anne Borelli, 62, died peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, in Bangor. Leslie was born on August 17th, 1952, in Lawrence, MA, the daughter of Edward and Valancia (Ariola) Taylor.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a kind and compassionate person and easily made friends. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, quilting and camping with her husband. She was a member of the Sunshine Club of Waterville and a communicant of St. Agnes Catholic Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Edward Borelli of Pittsfield; five children, Amy Thayer and husband, Melvin of Springfield, MO, Kenneth Borelli and wife, Sara of Alton Bay, NH, Rebecca Harris and husband, Jason of Pittsfield, James Borelli and wife, Sara of Pittsfield, and Christopher Borelli and wife, Nichole of Pittsfield; six grandchildren, Mariah, Jeanna, Anthony, Brian, Samuel and Bryson; three brothers, Scott Taylor of Methuen, MA (her twin), Glenn Taylor and wife, Katie of Port Charlotte, FL, and Stewart Taylor of Salem, NH. She was predeceased by her parents.

HERBERT “HERBIE” BEAN, JR.

PLYMOUTH - Herbert George Bean, Jr., 85, died unexpectedly May 21st, 2015 at his residence. He was born May 26, 1929 in Bar Harbor, a son of Herbert and Thelma (Luckings) Bean, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. After returning home he took over the family poultry business in Plymouth, where he met his soulmate of nearly 41 years, Carmeletta Crommett. They continued working at the farm until the early 1970s when he sold it and built a house across the street. He then drove a dump truck for James Smith of Newport for many years until his retirement.
Herbie is survived by a son Kevin Crommett and his partner Terri Flood of Plymouth; a daughter, Maria (Crommett) Trask and husband Reggie of Detroit; 2 sisters, Betty and Diane Bean of Auburn; 4 granddaughters, Therese (Trask) Nickerson of Waterville, Rebecca Trask of Detroit, Heather (Crommett) Folsom and Nikkia (Crommett) Washington, both of Pittsfield; 5 great grandchildren, Logan Dodge, Brielle Nickerson, Levi Nickerson, all of Norridgewock, Kailyn Brasher and Adelynn Brasher, both of Pittsfield; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a special grandson (and at the time his only grandchild) Christopher Braley; his soulmate Carmeletta Crommett; her daughter Jeannette Crommett; 2 sisters, Winnetta (Bean) Elliott, and Pauline (Bean) Evans; 2 brothers, Richard and John Bean.
There will be no public visiting hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside committal service at 1 PM on Saturday, June 13th, at the Greenlawn cemetery in Clinton. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Somerset Humane Society, 123 Middle Road, Skowhegan, ME 04976.

OMAR H. HOLT

CANAAN - Omar H. Holt, 85, of Canaan, passed away Sunday, May 24th, 2015 in Skowhegan at the Redington Fairview General Hospital.
He was born November 12, 1929, in Clinton, the son of Irvin and Ora (Lewis) Holt. Omar was educated in the Clinton schools. He married Theresa Tuttle on April 28, 1951 in Canaan.
For more than 55 years Omar owned and operated the Holt Family Farm in Canaan, he was a sawyer with his family for many years doing custom sawing. He owned his own milk route in the 1950’s where he picked up fresh milk in ten gallon cans from area towns and delivered it to the United Farmers in Detroit. Omar also worked as the manager for Massey-Ferguson at Canaan Equipment. He worked as a logger in the woods during the 60s, 70s and 1980s, and during the 1980s and 90s and after he sold his cows, he contracted with the State of Maine working on many area road jobs with his bulldozer.
Omar was a member of the Carrabassett Masonic Lodge in Canaan for more than 50 years, and a life time member of the fair association in Skowhegan. He was a founding member of the Eaton Mountain Ski Area and was also on the board of directors. In the 1970s Omar was a selectman for the Town of Canaan. He was also a 50+ year member of the Canaan Grange.
Omar was predeceased by his wife and sweetheart of 47 years, Theresa. He was also predeceased by his mom and dad, and a brother Richard Holt.
He is survived by his four children, Pat Bowman of Canaan, Michael Holt and his wife Betsy of Canaan, Ricky Holt and his wife Cathy of Dixmont, Ronald Holt and his wife Linda of Canaan; two brothers, Gerald Holt and his wife Glennis of Benton, Tim Holt and his wife Alana of W. Gardiner; two sisters, Faye Lebreque of Waterville, Lucille Simpson and her husband Joseph of Winslow; 11 grandchildren, Manda, Steven, Megan, Corey, Kristin, Travis, Daniel, Samantha, Dustin, Michele, and Joseph Jr.; 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and a multitude of close friends living and dead.
Viewing hours were held on Thursday May 28th, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Avenue, Skowhegan, with a funeral service held on Friday, May 29th, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, burial followed at the Fairview cemetery in Canaan.
Donations may be made in his memory to Donation Processing, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014 or to the American Diabetes Foundation, 10 Speen Street, 2nd Floor, Framingham, Massachusetts 01701.

IRENE J. OUELLETTE

PALMYRA - Irene J. Ouellette, 93, died May 15th, 2015 at the Maine Veteran Home in Bangor following a long illness.
Irene was born in North Caribou, December 14th, 1921, the daughter of Mazime and Lydia (Ouellette) Blanchette. She attended Holly Rosary Elementary School and was a graduate of Caribou High School in the class of 1941.
She married Emilian Ouellette in 1942 and he predeceased her on September 7th, 1998.
Irene was employed at Edwards General Signal Co. in Pittsfield for 23 years.
She was a member of the Holly Rosary Catholic Church in Caribou and St Agnes Catholic Church in Pittsfield. She enjoyed her home and working in her gardens. She spent many hours making blankets and braiding rugs for her children and grandchildren.
Irene is survived by two daughters Shirley Adams and her companion Royce Ludden of Palmyra, Twilda Shameklis of Loris, SC, two sons Daniel Ouellette of Vassalboro, Randy Ouellette of Maryville, TN. One sister, Florence Castanguay of Springfield, MA, a sister-in law, Doris Blanchette of Caribou, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, a son Ricky Ouellette, two sisters Cecile, and Edwina.
Friends called Friday, May 22nd for 5 to 7 PM at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High Street, Newport, ME. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, May 23rd, 2015 at 11AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Pittsfield. Burial will be at a later date in Caribou.
