DARLENE NEAL SIDE

HARTLAND — Darlene Neal Sides, 53, died on Thursday, October 1, 2015, after a short period of failing health, in Bangor.
She was born on September 6, 1962, the daughter of the late Oren and Leona (Chapman) Neal. She graduated from Nokomis High School and received her Associates Degree in Accounting from Kennebec Valley Community College.
Darlene had a love for the outdoors. She enjoyed watching wildlife, especially the hummingbirds and the Hawk who were always nearby her home. She liked making all kinds of arts and crafts and attended the local craft fairs. She looked forward to the Indian Pow Wow every year in East Newport and had quite the collection of their artifacts.
She was involved with the St. Albans Historical Society, the Sebasticook Valley Elks Dart League and the Old cemetery Association.
She is survived by her loving husband, Montelle Sides of Hartland; children, Edwin Carmichael Jr of Hartland, Austin Carmichael of Corinna, Glen Carmichael and wife, Holli, of Hartland, Bradford Sides and significant other, Heidi Long, of Palmyra, and Melinda Sides of Winterport; grandchildren, Tyler, Dominic, Skyler, Samantha, T.J., Tristan, Aniesa, Ava, Brody, Owen, Connor, Caleb and Kiki; siblings, Floyd Neal and significant other, Ann, of Dixmont, Elaine Havey and husband, Spencer, of Pittsfield, Maylene Neal of St. Albans, and Shelly Hutchinson and husband, Jim, of St. Albans; and uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; and her grandson, Hunter Leon Carmichael.
A graveside service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 10th, 2015, at the Village cemetery, cemetery Road, St. Albans. A gathering followed at the Hartland Volunteer Fire Department, 43 Canaan Road in Hartland. All are welcome.
Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made in Darlene’s memory to the SPCA of Hancock County, 141 Bar Harbor Road, Trenton, Maine, 04605.

DOROTHEA P. MILLIKEN

EXETER — Dorothea P. Milliken, 90, died peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at her home in Exeter.
Dorothea was born on November 1, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Herman and Annarose (Huck) Schroedel. She was a great seamstress, an avid bird watcher and a wonderful gardener. She loved being surrounded by her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, Karl Milliken and wife, Sylvia, of Vancouver, Washington, Jane Milliken and husband, Ed Koury, of Seattle, Washington and Anne Hershbine and husband, Bob, of Exeter; seven grandchildren, Elias Hershbine and wife, Cindy, of Corinna, Joachim Hershbine of Garland, Thea Hershbine of Portland, Gabriel Hershbine of Charleston, Lucinda Gordon and husband, Jonathan, of St. Albans, Nicholas Hershbine of Exeter and Simon Hershbine of Exeter.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Stephen Milliken; and a brother, Otto Schrodel.
A private committal will be held by the family.
Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

LEO J. RICHARD, JR.

CORINNA & DEXTER — Leo Joseph Richard, Jr., a.k.a. Buddy, 63, went home to be with the Lord on September 24, 2015 at home surrounded by his family and many loved ones.
He was born December 23, 1951 in Lewiston, a son of Leo and Beatrice (LePage) Richard. He attended Dexter schools and served in the U. S. Army for 20 years, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. He worked for many years at Dexter Shoe Company, FayScott, and recently retired from GE Power Systems in Bangor. “Pepe” as he was affectionately known, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed BBQ’s with his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family. His kindness and compassion was never ending, always putting the needs of others first. His family meant the world to him and he will be loved and deeply missed by many.
In addition to his mother, he leaves behind his best friend and wife of 42 years, Fay (Page) whom he adored; five sons, Leo Richard III and wife Barb, and their children Emily and Wyatt; Joshua Richard and wife Cindy, and their children Emily, Katrina, Jacob and Jamilyn; Moses Richard and wife Shannon, and their children Tyler, Daniel, Lexi, and Kade; Noah Richard and wife Shawna, and their children Coty and wife Lindsey, and son Kraiden, Dustin and fiancé Trista; Matthew and wife Becky, and their children Zain, Jocelyn and Olivia; and a very special nephew, Jesse Curtis, whom he loved like a son; sisters Ann Bragg and husband Jim, Holly Wyman, Jane Weeks and husband Dean, and Mary Richard-Garrison and husband Bruce; brothers Albert Richard and wife Charlotte, Dale Richard and wife Donna, and Arthur Richard and wife Peggy; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his father Leo Joseph Richard, Sr.
A barbecue and celebration of his life was held at 2 PM Saturday, October 3rd, at his home at 84 Sunken Bridge Road, Corinna, on Half Moon Pond.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network or to a local food pantry.

MARION L. NORRIS

PALMYRA — Marion L. Norris, 87, died peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2015, at her home in Palmyra.
Marion was born on April 9, 1928, in Troy, Maine, the daughter of Oral and Edith Luce. She attended local schools and graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield. In her younger years, she worked as a telephone operator and a cashier at Bud’s Shop and Save. She also did kitchen assistance in the hot lunch program in the Troy school system and even sold popcorn at the Unity Raceway.
Marion enjoyed playing scrabble, putting together jigsaw puzzles and figuring out the daily jumble. She was a longtime attendee of the Church of Christ in Pittsfield.
She is survived by two sons, Allen and James Steele; daughter, Judy Steele; stepdaughters, Bettina Emerson and husband, Roger, Norma Philbrook and husband, Kenneth and Gelia Clark and husband, Winston, all of Palmyra; grandchildren, Alan Emerson, Arnold Emerson and wife, Laurie, Duane Emerson, Denise Emerson, Kaven Philbrook and wife, Joyce, Nanette Collette and husband, Paul, Norlene Emhoff and husband, Richard, Craig Clark and wife, Elyssa, Chris Clark and wife, Alicia, and Chad Clark and wife, Laurissa; and many great and great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Norman Norris; and her brother, Frank Luce.
A funeral service was held at 2 PM, Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield, with Peter Logiodice officiating. A committal immediately followed at the Village cemetery, Warren Hill Road, Palmyra.
Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association, Northern New England Chapter, 10 Ferry Street, Suite 309, Concord, NH, 03301, in Marion’s memory.

ANDREW J. RICHARDS

GUILFORD — Andrew J. Richards, 29, of Guilford, passed away on August 14, 2015. He was born September 11, 1985, the son of Doris Murray and James McCoy of Guilford, Maine.
Andrew is survived by his daughter, Shae Lynn Richards; three sisters, Eliza, Ashley and Particia; one brother, Micheal, all of Maine; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

GERALDINE MAE (WITHERLY) LIIMATAINEN

PITTSFIELD — Geraldine Mae (Witherly) Liimatainen, known as “Gerry”, 83, longtime resident of Pittsfield and most recently of Portland died peacefully Sept. 25, 2015, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family at Gosnell Memorial Hospice.
Born May 15, 1932, in Bangor, Maine to Thomas and Pauline (Tozier) Witherly, she attended Bangor schools. She met Robert “Bob” Liimatainen, a serviceman returning from the Korean War and stationed at Dow Air Force Base in Bangor. They were married in 1958 and lived in Western Massachusetts and Millinocket, Maine, where they made many lifelong friends. In 1974, they moved to Pittsfield where they lived for close to 40 years. Gerry had many close friendships in Pittsfield, including the Ladies who Lunch and enjoyed volunteering at Pennywise at the First Congregational Church. They loved to travel, visiting 49 states, and especially loved their yearly spring trips to Marco Island, Florida, and to the Samoset in Rockport each fall.
Gerry was predeceased by her husband Bob. She is survived by her son, Gary and wife, Annette, of Pittsfield; her daughter, Donna and husband, Erik Peterson, of Cape Elizabeth; grandchildren, Kyle and Kali Liimatainen and Chad and Marshall Peterson.
At Gerry's request the family embraced her life-time love of ice cream and held a Celebration of Life Ice Cream Social from 2-4 PM, Sunday, October 4, 2015, at the First Congregational Church, 132 Somerset Avenue, Pittsfield. If you were unable to attend, please enjoy an ice cream in Gerry's memory! A private family burial followed.
Gerry’s family would like to thank the staff of Birchwoods at Canco, Fallbrook Woods, and Gosnell Memorial Hospice for their kind and loving care. Also special thanks to Dr. Sidney Block in Bangor for many years of excellent arthritis care.

CARLA J. TIBBETTS

DEXTER — Carla Jean (Webber) Tibbetts, 45, went home to be with her Lord and Savior September 26, 2015. She was lovingly surrounded by her family and friends until God called her away.
She was born January 26, 1970 in Pittsfield a daughter of Clarence and Roberta (Cooley) Webber. She graduated from Nokomis Regional High, Class of 1988. She also graduated from Beal College in Bangor and was employed at Dexter Family Practice. Carla worked there for 5 years until her first battle with breast cancer. She retired due to her health and enjoyed being a homemaker and stay at home mom.
Carla enjoyed helping in her children’s school functions and many activities. She was very busy at the New Hope Baptist Church with her many titles, but the nursery was her fondest place. God blessed her with a loving and giving heart. She was always willing to help anyone in need.
In addition to her mother of Hartland, she is survived by her husband Joseph Tibbetts; 2 sons, Parker and Cole, all of Dexter; her brother and sister in law, Paul and Sherry Vigue, and a sister Elaine Vigue, all of Hartland; a brother and sister in law Jeff and Camille Vigue of Washington State; many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Carla was predeceased by her father Clarence and a special nephew PJ.
A celebration of her life was held at 1 PM Saturday, October 3rd, at New Hope Baptist Church, 130 Spring Street, Dexter, with Pastor Matt Thomas officiating. Graveside committal services were held at 2 PM Sunday, October 4th, at Pine Grove cemetery, Hartland with Pastor Ron Stevens officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Relay for Life, c/o Marcy King, 39 Free Street, Dexter, ME 04930.

DARLENE T. CORMIER

PITTSFIELD — Darlene T. Cormier, 64, died peacefully after a period of failing health on September 8th, 2015, in Portland, Maine.
Darlene was born on May 18, 1951 in East Haven, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Theodore and Martha (Hubbard) Oberdick, Sr.
She will be remembered as a loving mother and an incredibly strong, generous, and selfless woman with a “heart of gold.” She ardently loved her family and friends, Jesus, and her Catholic faith. Loved ones also remember her as an amazing cook and an extremely hard-working and humble woman. Others remember her as warm, welcoming, and a very beautiful woman with a keen sense of humor.
A convert to the Catholic faith, she had a true heart for service. She first served at a soup kitchen in Lynn, MA with her husband, Ron. After moving to Maine in the 1980’s, she founded and served for many years as Director and Head Chef of “My Brother’s Table” Soup Kitchen, an ecumenical ministry based out of St. Agnes Parish. She also served on St. Agnes’ Parish Council, Women’s Council, as a crisis pregnancy counselor, a CCD teacher, and coordinator of food and clothing drives.
She was a devoted wife and partner to her husband, Ron, and over the years, ran restaurants with him, worked as a chef, and lovingly prepared all of the culinary delights they sold in their Pittsfield-based business, Country Pies. She also worked as a homecare nurse for a number of years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Cormier of Pittsfield; daughter, Rebecca Cormier Ruiz and husband, Rex, of Oakton, Virginia; son, Uriel Cormier and wife, Nichole Temple, of Brewer; her grandchildren, Rafael Ruiz, Gabriel Ruiz, Victoria Cormier and Gabriel Cormier; brother, Theodore “Teddy” Oberdick and wife, Lorrie, of Connecticut; sister, Cheryl Oberdick Martone of Connecticut; sister-in-law, Bonnie Oberdick of Connecticut; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, David Oberdick; and her twin brother, Alton Oberdick.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 AM, Monday, September 14th, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 238 Detroit Street, Pittsfield. A committal immediately followed at the Village cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield.
Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

CHARLES TRECARTIN

NEWPORT — Charles Trecartin, 70, passed away on September 14, 2015 due to heart problems.
Charles was a devoted brother, uncle and father of two, Jolene and Christina. He will be missed by all that knew him.

DAVID A. ROBERTS

PALMYRA — David A. Roberts, 63, of Palmyra, passed away at his home, Wednesday, September 9, 2015. He was born May 24, 1952 in Lewiston, the son of Albert and Barbara (Collins) Roberts.
He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1970. He worked at several places in the area including the Hartland Tannery, Osram Sylvania in Bangor, Hydrograss Corp. in Pittsfield as a parts manager, Edwards in Pittsfield and most recently Walpole in Pittsfield.
David enjoyed camping with his family at the ocean, visiting lighthouses. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at their camp on Great Moose Lake. He and his wife coached a farm team baseball team for a few years in Palmyra of which their sons were members. He enjoyed watching all those children grow up and have children of their own.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Doreen (Rice) Roberts; 2 sons, Jeremy Roberts and his partner Melissa Jennings of Hartland, and Christopher Roberts and wife Alison of Palmyra; 2 brothers, James Roberts and wife Gladys of Sebago, and Eric Roberts and wife Barbara of Leeds; and 1 sister, Cindy Deschenes and husband Paul of Lewiston; 1 granddaughter, Trinity Hunt; a brother-in-law, Ronald Rice and his partner Louise Snyder of Green and sister-in-law, Carolyn Rice; several nieces and nephews and their childern. He also enjoyed spending time with several other children who were very special in his life, Alyssa, Katie, Zach, Shelby and Shane. He was predeceased by a son, Aaron; his parents; and his father and mother-in-law, Donald and Nettie Rice.
The family would like to thank the nurses at EMMC and the Hospice Team of Kim and Bob.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Palmyra Community Center on Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 2 to 4 PM, where you will be asked to share your favorite memories of David.
