MAYNARD E. DAHLGREN

PITTSFIELD — Maynard E. Dahlgren, 83, died peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2015, in Bangor.
Maynard was born on April 7, 1932, in Woodland, Maine, the son of the late Evald and Gladys (Nelson) Dahlgren. He graduated from Maine Central Institute with the class of 1949 and married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Green. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy.
Maynard was well known in the Pittsfield community as he was the longtime owner of Maynard’s Barbershop, and then delivered mail for the Pittsfield Post Office until his retirement. He was also involved in the Pittsfield Jaycees, served on the town council, and was the mayor of Pittsfield for two terms.
Maynard enjoyed being outdoors; golfing, gardening, yardwork, and swimming in his backyard pool. He loved his snacks, loved to dance, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had many neighbors that became dear, lifelong friends. Maynard was a unique man; kind, patient, loving, and truly a friend to all who met him. He always gave of himself to any that needed him and was an inspiration to all, especially, his children and grandchildren who will feel his love and guidance forever. It has been said that if you could handpick your dad, you would pick him. He will be lovingly missed..
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Wanda Dahlgren of Pittsfield; children, Rhonda Magnus Crowe and husband, Tim, of Newport, Kirk Dahlgren and Rhonda Allen of Detroit, and Jennifer Cram and husband, Harry, of Pittsfield; grandchildren, Jason Magnus and Tracey Coolen, Jeffrey Magnus and wife, Tifany Wijaya, and Jordyn Cram; great granddaughter, Sierra Magnus; sisters, Rita Cushman and Elaine Doughty; sisters-in-law, Wahneta Dahlgren and Margaret “Peg” Thompson; brothers-in-law, George Gray and Ronald Kinney; son-in-law, Hal Magnus; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was predeceased by his parents; infant sister, Louise; brother, Lendal Dahlgren; sister, Leola Gray; and daughter-in-law Gloria Dahlgren.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

PAUL D. LEVASSEUR II

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, MA — Paul D. LeVasseur II, 57, died September 12, 2015 unexpectedly at a Waterville, ME health care facility. He was born in Bath, ME, June 26, 1958, the son of Paul D. and Janice (Woodard) LeVasseur Sr.
Paul was a long time resident of Bungay Lake in North Attleborough, MA, and was returning to his home state of Maine with his wife, Tammy. Paul loved fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, and his New England Patriots. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren at cookouts and holidays. He loved their smiles and how his grandchildren eyes would light up when he would light off fireworks at the lake. Paul touched many lives and was generous to a fault, helping anyone needing his help. He was loved deeply and will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Tamara LeVasseur, of North Attleborough, MA; his parents Paul and Janice LeVasseur Sr., of St. Albans, ME; a brother, Robert LeVasseur, of St. Albans, ME; a sister and her husband, Cynthia and Greg Sanders of Corinna, ME; four daughters: Katrina and her husband, Frank Hewitt, of Uncasville, CT; Jodie and her husband, Christopher Burns, of North Attleborough, MA; Holly and her husband, Matthew Marvitz of Killeen TX; and Jessica and her husband, Joshua Brightman, of Bristol, RI. He was a proud grandfather of 12, and a great grandfather of 2. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

JON “JJ” MCCARRON, JR.

NEWPORT & GRAY — Jon Christopher McCarron, Jr., 8, passed away October 12, 2015 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born February 21, 2007 in Bangor, a son of Jon and Brooke (Emerson) McCarron, Sr.
JJ was a member of the 3rd grade class at the Russell School in Gray. He loved spending time with his little community of special needs friends. JJ loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, doing anything exciting, and enjoyed fishing and music. His favorite word was “boobies”. JJ was baptized as a Methodist.
In addition to his parents, JJ is survived by his great grandmother Mary Emerson; his grandparents, Robert Bubar, Tammy Emerson and Carol McCarron; his brother Seth McCarron and sister Britney McCarron; his aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and his special nurse Stephanie Shapiro.
Friends called at the Wilson Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Road, Gray, from noon until 2 PM Saturday, October 17th. A memorial celebration of life was held across the street at the Russell School from 1 to 3 PM.
Graveside funeral and committal services will be held at noon Monday, October 19th, at the Detroit Village cemetery, Detroit, with Pastor Mark Gumprecht officiating. As JJ lived half of his life in Newport and the other half in Gray, the family wanted both services held for the convenience of others. They also understand and do not expect both services to be attended. Memorial donations may be sent to JJ McCarron Go Fund Me. Local arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.

HOWARD EDWARD DOW

CORINNA AND LAKELAND, FL — Howard Dow, 80, passed away on October 2, 2015 at Lakeland Regional Hospital. Howard was born April 5, 1935 in Merrill, ME, the son of Charles and Alta Dow.
Howard was a graduate of Corinna Union Academy, class of 1954. He served 22 years in the US Air Force, retiring as S/MST. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Lakeland Elks Club.
He is survived by wife, Charlene; two sons, Eric of Boynton Beach, FL and Scott and wife, Louisa of Mooresville, NC; two sisters, Virginia Lister and Martha Clukey, both of Corinna; four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Monday, October 5th at Centry Morrison Funeral Home. Graveside services were Tuesday at Florida National cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

CARROLL CLYDE ALTON

HARMONY — Carroll Clyde Alton, 85, died peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at his home in Harmony.
Carroll was born on August 19, 1930, in Harmony, the son of the late Francis and Katie (Robi) Alton. He was one of 13 children. He was employed for many years at both Vinner Brothers in Bangor and Westland Shoe in Biddeford. He also worked as a lumberjack and enjoyed being in the woods.
Carroll had a wry sense of humor. He was always working on a project and enjoyed tinkering on cars. He absolutely loved horses, especially Clydesdales and won many ribbons for horse pulling at the country fairs. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his four children, Denice Vermette of Biddeford, Noreen Alton-Jones of Standish, Gail Elwell of Biddeford and Mark Alton and companion, Tammy Stewart of Dexter; 10 grandchildren, Keene, Heather, Kerry, April, Jesse, Westley, Brandy, Angela, Ashley and Lacey; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Marie and Rowena; special nephew, Chet Porter Jr; special nieces, Katie and Brandi; several nieces and nephews; ex-wife, Sandy Lawler and husband, Larry of Harmony; and many extended family members and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; and 10 siblings.
A private viewing was held by the family.

BELINDA MAE HOLT

PALMYRA — Belinda Mae Holt, 61, died December 22, 2015 at her Palmyra home following a long illness. She was born in Bangor May 14, 1954 the daughter of Everett and Joann (Cowan) Holt. She was a graduate of Nokomis Regional High School in the class of 1972.
Belinda worked at C.M. Almy in Pittsfield for 33 years retiring due to ill health. While working at C.M. Almy she was very proud that she was able to sew garments that were to be worn by the Pope.
Belinda loved to volunteer at the Folk Festival in Bangor. She also volunteered to help with the disaster drills at Bangor International Airport.
She is survived by her parents Everett and Joann Holt of Palmyra, three brothers; James E Holt and his wife Karen of Bangor, Michael Holt and his wife Dalene of North Anson, Mathew Holt and his wife Deborah of South Korea, two sisters; Roxanne Robbins and her husband Randy of Hartland, Sandra Hale and her husband Brent of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, 8 nieces and nephews; Meaghan & Jordan, Jenifer, Brittney, Cody, Alexis, Connor, Logan.
Graveside services and a celebration of Belinda's life will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, Newport in the spring. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make memorial donations to Cancer Care of Maine, 33 Whiting Hill Road, Suite 21, Brewer, Maine 04412.

HILDON E. BICKFORD

DEXTER — Hildon E. Bickford, 85, died December 21, 2015 at his residence. He was born September 12, 1930 in Hartland, the son of Everett and Lucille (Smart) Bickford.
He was a licensed electrician at Keyes Fiber, Fay-Scott, Cianbro, and Hancock lumber. Hildon was a member of the Penobscot Lodge IOOF, attended the Emmanuel Baptist Bible Church in Plymouth and was close to the Lord.
He is survived by a son, Danny and wife Eleanor Bickford of Dexter; 3 daughters, Judy Sinclair of Bangor, Brenda and husband Ed Genereux, Mary and husband Ernest Woodbury, all of Dexter; 10 grandchildren, including a special granddaughter Amy Bradley; 16 great grandchildren, including 3 special great grandchildren, Hannah Bradley, Jacob Bickford, and Katie Getchell; 5 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Audrey in 2009.

CONRAD C. BELLFLEUR

PITTSFIELD — Conrad C. Bellfleur, 75, died peacefully on Thursday, December 17, 2015, with his family by his side, in Bangor.
Conrad was born on January 5, 1940, in Limestone, Maine, the son of Edmund and Gladys (Poitras) Bellfleur. He was one of 17 children and grew up in Aroostook county. He learned how to work hard at a young age and often recalled picking potatoes. He proudly served our country in the United States Army serving as both Military Police and a Paratrooper. He was employed for 26 years at Sebasticook Valley Hospital as a Paramedic and retired from the Maine Department of Transportation when his health began to weaken.
He enjoyed going to the casinos in Las Vegas, Foxwoods and Bangor. He always commented that he was not fond of seeing the cherries on the slot machines! His main passion was his parachuting and he taught many the joy of it while operating his own business, Jump Maine Skydivers.
He was a past member of the Sebasticook Valley Elks and was a member of the United States Parachuting Association for over 35 years.
He is survived his loving wife, Nancy Bellfleur of Pittsfield; children, Connie Jones of Pittsfield, Conrad Bellfleur Jr of Winslow, Vicky Tardif and husband, Keith, of Longmont, Colorado and Kelly Woodman and husband, David, of Pittsfield; grandchildren, Amanda Riendeau and husband, Dan, Brian Leavitt, Joshua Bellfleur-Meservey, Loretta Meservey, Kallista Tardif, Owen Tardif, Alex Tardif, Ryan Crocker and Kylie Woodman; great grandchildren, Trinity, Jyllian, Susie, Evan, Brandon, Aaron, Ethan, Kaelynn, Avery and Aubrey; mother-in-law, Collette Arsenault; brother, Gary Bellefleur and wife, Rosa, of Stetson; sisters, Bonnie Bouchard of Connecticut, Brenda Parent and husband, Ernie, of South Carolina and Marilyn Flannery of Tennessee; mother and friend of his children, Janet Nadeau; several nieces and nephews; and his sidekick poodle, Honey.
The family received friends from 3 to 6 PM, Sunday, December 20, 2015, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 AM, Monday, December 21, at the St. Agnes Catholic Church, Detroit Street, Pittsfield. A committal with military honors immediately followed at the Village cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield.

FREDRICK “RICK” DENICO

VASSALBORO — Fredrick “Rick” Denico passed away December 17, 2015 at Maine General Medical Center after a struggle with IPF with his family at his side. He was born in Portland on May 15, 1941 to Agnes Lewis and Carlton Denico.
He graduated from the University of Maine Orono in Chemical Engineering in 1963. He worked at Hutamaki for all his career, retiring at the age of 55. He ran an apple orchard for several years and also built a sugar camp in T7R19 for a time until he bought land on Haymock Lake. He loved living in Vassalboro where he spent his youth. He loved to hunt, fish, and vegetable gardening.
Rick strongly believed in public service and has served Vassalboro as selectman, budget committee member, town office building committee, chairman of the new library building, and also the expansion of the library, served on the town’s capital improvement committee was the chairman of the sanitary district, served on the comprensive planning committee and presently two terms on the school board. He was also appointed by Governor LePage and served on AWW for two terms, recently as chairman of AWW. He started a nonprofit, the Lock Dam Preservation, to work on projects in the Allagash. He had a dedicated, hardworking, and generous board who accomplished much. He was instrumental in the Lock Dam lot being donated to the state to complete state ownership of AWW. He received awards from his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon and Francis Crowe Engineering Society for his many accomplishments.
He loved his family and was proud of them.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Camille (DeMuro) Denico; children, Rick and wife Cindy, Donald and wife Bonny and daughter Nicole and husband Ed Wasiliwski; grandchildren, Parker, Caitlyn, Sadie, Molly, Dominic, Aubrey, and Mya; brother, Douglas, sister-in-law, Marie Stivers, Lisa DeMuro and husband Rick Jewett; brother-in-law, Leonard DeMuro; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Carlton Leonard, mother-in-law, Jo DeMuro; and sister-in-law, Rea Denico.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the care given by Dr. Pratt, Dr. Doornbas, Dr. Dohner, Waterville Home Oxygen, and the wonderful staff on 2 West, as well as his home nurse, Kay Pooler.
Private visitation hours and graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Rick's memory to a charity of their choice.

EARL GRAY, JR.

NEWPORT — Earl Grover Gray, Jr, 81, died December 20, 2015 at his residence. He was born February 1, 1934 in Newport, the only child of Earl and Lottie (Connor) Gray, Sr.
Earl served in the United States Air Force for over 24 years as an aircraft mechanic. He completed many tours overseas during the Vietnam and Korean wars, including Thailand, Guam and Okinawa. He served stateside in Kansas, Georgia, New Jersey, Hawaii, Alaska, and Washington. Following his retirement with the USAF, Earl was employed at the Irving Tannery in Hartland for 19 years as a maintenance supervisor.
He loved hunting, fishing and camping. Earl was a member and volunteered with the Barrows-Skidgel American Legion Post #105 for over 38 years, and attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Newport. He was a good friend who was willing to help anyone in need. He was a kind soul who always took good care of his family and loved them very much, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Earl was happily married for over 59 years to Sarah W. Gray, who predeceased him October 3, 2014, and had 5 children. He is survived by 3 daughters and their husbands, Susan and Mike McGeough of VA, Jutta and Steven Bennett II of Plymouth, and Ann and Cliff Dupray, Sr. of Dixmont; a son, Earl Thomas Gray and partner Joan Levesque of Newport; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter Evelyn Lister.
Friends called from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services were held 11 AM Thursday, December 24th, with the Rev. George Finnemore officiating. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans’ Memorial cemetery, Augusta. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, One Bowdoin Mill Island, Topsham, ME 04086.
