PHILIP S. FRASER

NEWPORT & PITTSFIELD — Allen Willard Lorom, 63, became God’s carpenter December 22, 2015 at a Pittsfield hospital following a long battle with Lymphoma. He was born March 20, 1952 in Dixmont, the fifth child of Willard and Alberta (Tibbetts) Lorom.
Allen was a member of the Army National Guard for 6 years. He will be remembered as an extremely hard working man. For many years, he was a self-employed wood cutter. Later in life he became a very talented self-taught carpenter. He had been employed at P.M. McKay and New Dimensions. A “Jack of All Trades”, Allen could do just about anything and became a very proficient cabinet maker after working with his uncle for a short time. He would take a few measurements, make a sketch on whatever material was available, and the results would be a beautiful set of cabinets. His moto was always “measure twice, cut once”. His sisters and many friends have “Allen Lorom” originals in their homes today.
He is survived by 2 sons, Kirt and Leon Lorom; and a a daughter, Cathy. He was a good brother to four sisters, Alfreda and husband John Hansen, Ardis and husband Ivan Holt, Jean and husband Dana Southard, and Joyce Jewell and special friend Clifton Grass; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant brother Donald Earl Lorom; a son Allen Timothy Lorom; and a brother in law, Ronald Jewell.
Allen’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks for the Bangor Visiting Nurses and Sebasticook Valley Hospital for the care and support that was given both to him and his family during his last days.
Graveside committal services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, December 29th, at Sawyer cemetery, Plymouth with Pastor Brian Woodbury officiating. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may leave written condolences at www.CrosbyNeal.com

PHILIP S. FRASER

NEWPORT — Philip Sheridan Fraser, 89, died December 3, 2015 at a Brewer nursing facility.
He was born August 20, 1926 in Dexter, a son of Philip and Victoria (Hebert) Fraser, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked many years at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna. He was a member of the Barrows-Skidgel Post #105 American Legion, V.F.W. Post 11191, the High Street Congregational Church, all of Newport; and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife Lois Diane (Jacobs) Fraser of Newport; several nieces and nephews.
Philip was predeceased by his first wife, Freda (Butterfield) Fraser in 2000; 2 sisters, Madeline Fraser in 2005, and Alice Keene in 2014.
A military graveside funeral and committal service was held at 2 PM on Tuesday, December 8th, at the Fraser family lot, Nutter cemetery, Corinna, with the Reverend Ernie Campbell officiating. HAROLD C. SHAW

ETNA — Harold Clinton Shaw, 83, died December 6, 2015 at his residence. He was born February 1, 1932 in Etna, a son of Charles and Bessie (Hamm) Shaw. He graduated from Newport High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a self employed carpenter and had also worked for Bob Noyes at his saw mill in Carmel. He loved his family and will be remembered as a good Dad.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rita (Daigle) of Etna; 2 sons, James and wife Missy Shaw of Plymouth, and Darin Shaw of Corinna; a daughter, Theresa Philbrook of Newport; and a sister, Virginia Treadwell of Old Town; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.
Friends called from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. Funeral services were held at 10 AM on Friday, December 11th, at the Jubilee Family Worship Center, Elm Street, Newport. Burial was at Pleasant Hill cemetery, Etna. DEBORAH D. IRISH

HARTLAND — Deborah D. Irish, 61, died December 9, 2015 in Hartland with her family by her side after a long battle with cancer. She was born March 15, 1954 in Dexter, a daughter of Malcolm and Joyce (Higgins) Brown.
She enjoyed flower gardens, camping and playing horseshoes. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and will be remembered as being patriotic. Debbie had been employed at Eastland Woolen Mill for 18 years until it closed and later worked for various area mills.
She is survived by her mother, and her husband, Kenneth Irish, both of Hartland; 2 sons, and their wives, Mark and Martha Lane of Newport and Dan and Aimee Sinclair of Greene; a step daughter, Rebecca Irish of Newport; brother, David Brown of Corinna; sister, Karen and husband Paul Moulton of Corinna; 8 grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Louise Irish of Dexter; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, 2 sisters, Shirley McKay and Marsha Brown, and her special dog Raggs.
Spring graveside services will be held at the Pine Grove cemetery, Hartland. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to CancerCare of Maine, 33 Whiting Hill Road, Brewer, ME 04412. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. JENNIE EVELYN MCDOUGAL

ST. ALBANS — Jennie Evelyn McDougal, 64, died peacefully on Friday, December 4, 2015, at her home in St. Albans, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Jennie was born on January 27, 1951, in Detroit, Maine, the daughter of William and Dorothy (Wright) Garnett. She was a very strong, hard working woman. She took good care of her family, especially her children, and always wanted to keep herself busy. She enjoyed playing cards and games, especially BINGO.
She is survived by her children, Galen Larrabee of St. Albans, Elizabeth Larrabee and companion, Lewis Green of Dexter, Arlo McDougal Jr and companion, Elizabeth Martin, of Hartland, Jason Hamilton of St. Albans, Danny McDougal and wife, Heidi, of Pittsfield, Dorothy Nichols and husband, Jeffrey, of Burnham and Ray McDougal and fiancée, Angie Chase, of Hartland; stepson, Maurice McDougal and wife, Bonnie, of Pittsfield; sisters, Ella Garnett of Florida and Alma Giles of Dexter; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Bertram Larrabee Jr; and second husband, Arlo McDougal Sr.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday, December 9, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A funeral service was held at 11 AM, Thursday, December 10, at the funeral home with the Reverend Mark Tanner. A committal immediately followed at the Village cemetery, Warren Hill Road, Palmyra, where she was laid to rest beside her husband, Arlo McDougal.

STEVEN P. MOSSEY

HERMON & DEXTER — Steven Paul Mossey, 55, died unexpectedly at his Hermon residence.
He was born June 14, 1960 in Dexter, a son of Reginald and Peggy (Metivier) Mossey, Jr. He graduated from Dexter Regional High School, Class of 1979, and was most recently employed at the Phillips-Strickland House in Bangor.
He is survived by his parents of Dexter; a sister, Jane Blake of Corinna; and a brother and his wife, Michael and Kathy Mossey of Newport; a niece Lindsay; a nephew Justin; and a grand nephew Camden.
A graveside committal service will be held in the spring at Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dexter.
Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.

DOROTHY B. MOON AYER

ETNA & CUMBERLAND — Dorothy B. Moon Ayer 93 died Nov. 29, 2015 at her Etna home following a period of ill health. Dorothy was born in Newport on Sept. 15, 1922 the daughter of Alphonzo and Thirza (Young) Conant. She graduated from Newport High School in the class of 1940. While in high school she enjoyed playing basketball. Following her graduation she moved to the Portland, Maine area and worked at National Biscuit Co. and then moved aon and started her career as a secretary for Maine Bonding Ins. Co. for many years. She also worked under an apprenticeship to learn hair dressing and earned her license to operate in Maine. Dorothy worked for Cook Concrete, Ramada Inn, and as a flagger for Lane Construction Co. She was the widow of Raymond Ayer, Sr. who predeceased her on July 23, 2013.
After moving back to Etna she and her husband Ray had a little shop where they sold wood Crafts and Ceramics, that she enjoyed making. She enjoyed going to yard sales where she bought treasures, (that she didn't want to part with).
She is survived by her son and his wife Ronald and Diane Moon, her daughter Nancy Moon, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, her brother, Vincent Conant of Etna, and her sisters, Gloria Wilson, of Etna and Joyce Bubar and her husband Verne of Etna, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Ayer, her son Tommy Moon, her daughter Diane and her sister Elaine.
Dorothy will also be fondly remembered by her friends and caregiver Respah Graves and her husband Allen, "her boys" Ashton and Maddox Graves, that had come to love as her own grandsons.

ANTHONY STONE BARNES DAVIS

TROY — Anthony Stone Barnes Davis, 34, of Troy, passed away unexpectedly at Eastern Maine Medical Center, November 26, 2015. He was born March 7, 1981.
Anthony lived in Troy with his girlfriend, Meagan Desveaux; dog, Dallas; and recently, as he “confessed to his mom”, a new kitten. His best friend was his mother, Robin, who was his biggest fan. They spoke daily and were each other’s confidante and cheerleader through thick and thin.
Anthony’s last day on earth was Thanksgiving, which was his favorite holiday. He spent the day eating, talking and smiling with his mom and siblings. He was especially excited this year to spend time with his brand new baby nephew, Daxton. Anthony, who had a special place in his heart for his sisters and brothers, could not have been more excited to be an uncle to Daxton, and fell in love with him right away. He was always such a proud brother and uncle.
Anthony is survived by his mother, Robin Randall and husband, Adam Willette of Jonesport; sisters, Danielle Davis of Ellsworth, Ashley Willette of Plymouth, Taniele Quimby and her husband, Michael of Bangor, and Makenzie Davis of Palmyra; brothers, Reed Willette and Ryan Willette, both of Jonesport; his girlfriend, Meagan Desveaux; and his father figure, Walter Davis.
Relatives and friends were invited to call 3 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, where a funeral service was held at 4 p.m., with Pastor Kirk Winters of the Rock Church officiating. ELMER M. “PAT” BOWDEN

CORINNA — Elmer M. “Pat” Bowden, 87, died November 28, 2015, at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. He was born in Corinna, December 26, 1927, the son of Harry and Luetta (Nichols) Bowden.
He farmed the family farm while going to Corinna Academy, graduating in 1946.
Pat worked at the Eastland Woolen Mill and farmed until about 1960. In 1955 he married Mary (Gower). He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter until 1997, when he and Mary joined the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Exeter.
Pat sold his cows and drove a milk truck for Ken Grant for 15 years. Pat later worked as a tower watchman for the Maine State Forestry Service at Allagash Lake from 1978-1986, and then Chase Hill Tower in 1987. He and Mary then worked at Caucomgomoc North Maine Woods, retiring in 1997.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary (Gower) Bowden of Corinna; 5 children, Bruce and Bobbie Bowden of Etna, Barbara and Donald Bryant of Arrowsic, Bill and Susan Bowden of Corinna, Betty and Buck Mackenzie of Newport, and Brian Bowden of Corinna; 23 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren, who will lovingly remember their Grampie; 4 siblings, Beulah Walker, Merrill Bowden, Edward Bowden, and Rodney Bowden all of Corinna; many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his best friend, Freddie Tyler.
Friends called from noon until 2 PM, Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1195 Stetson Road, in Exeter. A memorial service followed at 2 PM, with Pastor Stan Griffin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Cornerstone Baptist Church, P.O. Box 131, Levant, ME 04456.

KEVIN R. OGDEN

PLYMOUTH — Kevin R. Ogden, 52, died unexpectedly on December 1st, 2015 at his Plymouth home.
He was born in Dexter, February 2nd, 1963 the son of Gary and Pamela (Woodbury) Ogden. He worked at Dexter Shoe Company in Dexter and S.A.S. in Pittsfield for many years. For the past several years he had worked at Thibedeau Construction.
Kevin was the kind of man that was always willing to stop and help anyone, putting himself last.
He is survived by his father Gary Ogden of Dexter, his foster mother, Vivian Stevens of Exeter, two daughters, Jamie Gerry of Stetson and Haley Ogden of Plymouth, his brother Roy Ogden two special foster brothers Junior and Scott Madison of Exeter, three sisters Sande Ogden Melissa Sinclair of Corinna, Julie Johnson of Stacyville, two foster sisters, Brenda Tunks of Mars Hill, Donna Trembley of Dexter, one grandson "Buckshot."
He is predeceased by his foster father Kenneth Madison, Sr. He will also be remembered by many special friend who were as close as his family. he had a special cat Bud. A celebration of Kevin's life will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 12 to 2 PM at the Plymouth Fire Department.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High Street, Newport.

FRED A. DEAN

NEWPORT — Fred Arthur Dean, 86, died November 26, 2015 at a Bangor hospital. He was born January 11, 1929 in Lebanon, NH, the son of Fred and Ruth (Oliver) Dean. He graduated from Lebanon High School. After marrying his wife Betty, they moved to Newport in 1960. He opened Dean’s Electric Motor Shop that same year and operated it until 2005. Fred was an avid fisherman and duck hunter. He loved his cars especially his convertible, but most importantly loved his family. Fred was a charter member of the Sebasticook Snowmobile Club.
He is survived by a son George and wife Jeanette of Plymouth; 2 daughters, Mary Dean and companion Mike Phillips of Hartland, Ruth and husband Mike Clement of St. Albans; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by dear friends Paul and Jesse Leonard. The family also wishes to extend thanks to Cheryl Harris.
Fred was predeceased by his wife Betty in 2006; and 4 sisters, June, Beverly, Marilyn and Diana.
Graveside committal services will be held in the spring at Riverside cemetery, Newport.
Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Library, 154 Main Street, Newport, ME 04953.
