ELEANOR M. GORDON

NEWPORT — Eleanor M. Gordon, 94, died November 26, 2015 at a Palm Bay, FL nursing home. She was born August 10, 1921 in Dixmont, the daughter of James and E. Mae (Chase) White Banton. She graduated from Newport High School, Class of 1939, and the Washington State Normal School in Machias.
Eleanor married Arthur E. Gordon in 1947. Eleanor worked in food service at the Newport Elementary School for many years. She loved the outdoors and will be remembered as an avid golfer. She was a member of the People’s United Methodist Church in Newport. Eleanor was a past member of the Sebasticook Valley Golf Club and the Hampden Country Club.
She is survived by a son Robert Dickey of Cocoa, Florida; 2 grandsons, Ronald Dickey of Weirs Beach, NH, and Ryan Dickey of Palm Bay, FL; a niece and a nephew.
She was predeceased by her husband in 2010; her son Bruce in 1996; and a brother Donald White in 1969.
Graveside committal services will be held at Riverside cemetery, Newport, in the spring.
Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.

MAURICE CLAYTON DOORE

GARLAND — Maurice Clayton Doore, 85, died peacefully November 18th, 2015 at home with his loving family at his side. He was born October 8th, 1930 in Charleston, the son of Clifford and Laura (Farmer) Doore. He lived his childhood in Charleston and has been a resident of Garland since 1962. She was a woodsman and worked hard for his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking.
He is survived by four daughters, Rita West and husband, Ronald, Donna Merry and husband, Gordon, Brenda Doore and a very special daughter, Amy Sue Doore; a son, Micheal Doore and wife, Debbie; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a very special sister, Dorothy Cole. He was predeceased by a his wife, Beverly Ann Doore, a son Maxwell Charles Doore, four brothers, Harland, Harold, Lorenzo and Charles Doore and two sisters, Gladys Downs and Leone Palmer.
There was a graveside service at the Evergreen cemetery in Garland at 12 Noon on Tuesday, November 24th, 2015 and a gathering of family and friends at the Garland Grange Hall followed the service. Arrangements are in care of Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth.

CLARA M. (STAPLES) MILLS

HARTLAND — Clara M. (Staples) Mills, 75, passed away on November 18th, 2015 at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield surrounded by her family. She was born April 12, 1940 in Hartland, the daughter of Linwood W. and Fayrline Bickford Staples.
She loved to crochet, make various crafts, and bake for her family.
Clara is survived by her husband, Richard Mills of Millinocket; daughter, Marilyn Leavitt Hight and husband Randy of Hartland; 4 sons, Rocky Leavitt of Palmyra and companion Becky Nash, Ricky Pedersen of Hartland, Rusty Mills and companion Carrie Brown of Etna, and Robey Mills and companion HoneyRae Mulhearn of Hartland; sister, Beverly Rowell of Palmyra; 4 stepchildren Vivian Roy, Wilfred Mills, Barry Mills and Garry Hamilton, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Linwood and Fayrline Staples; son, Randy Leavitt; granddaughter Catherine Mills, a great grandson, Shawn Morrison; and 2 brothers, Sonny and Mike Staples.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield for the great care that was given to Clara.
At Clara's request, there will be not be visitation hours or funeral service at this time. There will be a private graveside service in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Clara's memory to Sebasticook Valley Hospital 447 North Main Street, Pittsfield, ME 40967.

WANDA MARIE (GREEN) DAHLGREN

PITTSFIELD — Wanda Marie (Green) Dahlgren, 83, died peacefully on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at her home in Pittsfield surrounded by loved ones.
Wanda was born on March 18, 1932, in Blaine, Maine, the daughter of the late Gail Green and Marion (Piper) White. She graduated from Maine Central Institute with the class of 1950 and married her high school sweetheart, Maynard Dahlgren in 1951.
Wanda spent over 20 years as a homemaker. She enjoyed making her house a wonderful home for her family. She had numerous talents such as knitting, crocheting, and especially sewing. She was an accomplished seamstress, making many beautiful dresses and skirts, creative Halloween costumes, doll clothes, and craft projects. Wanda’s exceptional organizational skills lead to her second career as a secretary for MSAD #53 for 18 years. Upon retirement, she enjoyed her third “career” as a wonderful “mimi”, babysitting for her granddaughter, Jordy. She loved to work in her flower gardens, feed the birds, and decorate her home, especially for the holidays. Wanda and her husband enjoyed card games with dear friends, Charlie and Gloria DeBeck, and socializing with special neighbors. They loved going to dances, golfing, trips to the coast, and especially family gatherings. Wanda was a member of the Pittsfield Athenaeum Club, and Bridge Club. She dedicated her life to her family and will be lovingly missed.
She is survived by her children, Rhonda Magnus Crowe and husband, Tim, of Newport, Kirk Dahlgren and fiancé Rhonda Allen of Detroit, and Jennifer Cram and husband, Harry, of Pittsfield; grandchildren, Jason Magnus and Tracey Coolen, Jeffrey Magnus and wife, Tifany Wijaya, and Jordyn Cram; great granddaughter, Sierra Magnus; sister and best friend, Margaret “Peg” Thompson; dear brother Ronald Kinney; sisters-in-law, Wahneta Dahlgren, Rita Cushman, and Elaine Doughty; brother-in-law, George Gray; son-in-law, Hal Magnus; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was predeceased by her parents; stepfathers, Basil Kinney and Edward White; her loving husband of 64 years, Maynard; brother, Wendell Green and wife Fran; sister, Ida Curtis and husband Don; sister, Opal Gray and husband Carl; sister-in-law, Debra Kinney; brother-in-law, Ted Thompson; and daughter-in-law, Gloria Dahlgren.
Because only 45 days separated their times of passing, a celebration of life honoring both Maynard and Wanda will be held in the near future, date and time to be announced.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to help the community in which Maynard and Wanda lived for most of their lives: The Pittsfield Community Theatre, c/o Town of Pittsfield, 112 Somerset Avenue, Pittsfield, Maine, 04967 or to Maine Central Institute, 295 Main Street, Pittsfield, Maine, 04967.

Robert Mitchell “Bob” Pratley

GUILFORD — Robert Mitchell “Bob” Pratley, 68, fondly known as “The Computer Guy”, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital on November 22, 2015, after a long illness, and a very brave struggle.
Bob was born in Greenwich, CT, on June 20, 1947, son of James and Mary (Burke) Pratley. He was the youngest of 7 children, and the last surviving sibling.
From a young age, Bob showed a talent for mechanics, engineering, and building. In 1964 at age 17 Bob entered the United States Navy. He served proudly as a flight engineer on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise in Viet Nam. He later completed his education, attended business school and started the first of many different careers.
Bob was a lifelong learner, and used his education, insight, talent and dexterity in many ways throughout his lifetime, including as pilot, store manager, long distance trucker, retail salesman, wood cutter, home builder, car repairman, and computer hobbyist. He was a very private man with a deep respect for life and a solid quiet faith. Bob had a generous heart and helped many families. He had a passion for the safeguarding of children, and a special way with animals.
Bob’s greatest love was his own small family. His children, Greg and Morgan; and his wife of 38 years, Kirsty, will sorely miss his sound advice, dry humor and generous heart. Also never far from his thoughts were his granddaughter, Dionne Scannell of Georgia; and his daughter, Lisa Heydet of Florida.
Friends are invited to call at the family home, 18 Pleasant Street, Guilford, Wednesday, December 2nd, from 5 to 7 PM.

GEORGIA MAE BABB

CORINNA — Georgia Mae Babb, 64, died unexpectedly November 16, 2015 at her residence.
She was born August 9, 1951 in Milo, a daughter of Davis and Alice (Hackett) Goodine. She graduated from the Baxter School for the Deaf in 1970. Georgia was proud of the fact that President John Tyler was her great, great, great, great, great grandfather.
She is survived by her husband, John; a son, Jeffrey Goodine of Milo; a brother, Lloyd Goodine of Dexter; and a sister, Roberta Moulton of Corinna; several grandchildren; a great granddaughter; and a special niece, Bobbi Jo Searles.
She was predeceased by a son Robert Scott Downs and a brother Davis Goodine, Jr.

ALICE (BUCKLAND) GUAY

CORINNA — Alice Jane Guay, 62, died November 24, 2015 at a Pittsfield hospital after a long illness.
She was born August 29, 1953 in Dexter, the daughter of William and Helen (Mullins) Buckland. She attended Corinna Union Academy and graduated from Nokomis Regional High, Class of 1971. Alice received a Junior Accounting Degree from Beal’s College in Bangor. She married John Guay on June 11, 1982.
Alice was the billing clerk at Eastland Woolen Mill from 1972 to 1996 and served as administrative assistant to the superintendent of RSU 19 from 1999-2015. She was a member of the Pittsfield Bowling League, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Honor Society, and a past member of the Order of The Eastern Star. She also taught Sunday school at the Corinna United Methodist Church for a number of years.
Alice did not see herself as a courageous person. She felt she was no different than a person with diabetes, a physical handicap or a mental illness. “We all just do what we have to do to get by and live our lives.” She always put others needs ahead of hers and was kind and cheerful with all the people she had contact with.
In addition to her husband of Corinna, Alice is survived by her father William “T-Bob” Buckland and partner Christine Kelly of Palmyra and Florida; a son Matt Guay of Corinna; “Grammie’s Boy”, Seth Guay of Exeter; 3 brothers, William “Bud” of Portland, Keith of E. Machias, and Gregg and wife Pam Buckland of Detroit; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Alice is also survived by a special friend Alden Bolstridge. Alice was predeceased by her mother; and a brother, James Buckland.
A casual reception and time of remembrance will begin at 1 PM Tuesday, December 1st, at the Corinna American Legion Hall with all ages, young and old welcome. Private committal services will be at the family lot, Morse’s Corner cemetery, Corinna. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Chapel, Corinna. In lieu of flowers, Alice requested that memorial donations be made to the Alice Guay Memorial Fund, c/o Skowhegan Savings Bank, 83 Church Street, Dexter, ME 04930. The funds will be used for the Dacano Arno Fund at the Tri-County Technical Center, and for an education fund for “Grammie’s boy” Seth.

ROBERT “BOB” MCGINNIS

PITTSFIELD — Robert “Bob” McGinnis, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 13, surrounded by his family.
Bob married Nancy A. Mercier on September 25, 1959 and together they had three loving children, Wesley, Gaye and Rob and their beloved dog, Duffy.
Bob graduated from Maine Central institute in 1958. He worked at Maine Fence Company for 44 years. He also owned and operated Nancy’s Food and Dairy Bar working side by side with his wife for 19 years. He was an avid bowler and softball player for more than 30 years. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and woodworking and was a lifelong Red Sox fan. He cherished his time with his large family.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Wes and wife, Mary; daughter, Gaye Gurney and husband, Bill; son, Robert A. and wife, Stephanie; grandchildren, Kelly Huard, Kristie Adams, Nathan McGinnis and Hailey Gurney; great grandchildren, McKenzie Huard and Mason and Max Adams; sisters, Sheila Withee and Valda Reardon and husband, Ken; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Helena McGinnis; and brothers, James Jr, Eugene and Allen.
The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, November 16th, 2015, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A Celebration of Life was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 17th, at the Solid Rock Church of God, Manson Street, Pittsfield, with the Rev. Tom Duperry officiating. Interment was private at the Village cemetery in Pittsfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Solid Rock Church of God, P.O. Box 122, Pittsfield, Maine, 04967.

ALICE MARY SISCO

HARTLAND — Alice Mary Sisco of Hartland, ME passed away at Sebasticook Valley Hospital on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 after a brief illness while surrounded by loving family and friends. She was born to Earl A. and Orrie L. (Young) Nelson on May 2, 1927. She married Howard W. Sisco Sr., now deceased on August 2, 1946. She lived most of her life in Hartland, ME and was a long time employee of the Irving Tanning Co. in Hartland. She also worked as an assistant at the Crestwood Nursing Home. After retiring from the Irving Tanning Co., she was employed by Edwards Systems Technology of Pittsfield ME for several years. She is survived by a sister, Arlene Hill. Alice had 6 children, Mary Alice Cookson (deceased), Shirley Mae Wright (deceased), Howard W. Sisco Jr. of Clinton ME, Linda Lea Gerry of St. Albans, ME, Cathy Ann Williams of Fairfield, ME, and James A. Sisco of Hartland, ME. She also had 18 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. No funeral service will be held as per her wishes.

EVA L. DAVIS

CAMBRIDGE — Eva Davis, 86, wife of the late Richard H. Davis, died February 24, 2016 at her residence. She was born February 23, 1930 in Elgin, N.B., Canada, a daughter of Parker and Eva (Carle) Linkletter.
Eva worked as a stitcher at Dexter Shoe, DeLong’s Sportwear, and retired from Hardwood Products in Guilford. She was a member of the Cambridge Baptist Church.
She is survived by 2 sons, Richard of Brownville Junction, and Kevin of Cambridge; 3 daughters, Debra and Bruce Ireland of Hermon, Kathy and Armand “Pit” Hebert of Dexter, and Christine “Joette” and Clarence Worster of Cambridge; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.
There are no services scheduled. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
