KAREN M. HAYMAN

CAMBRIDGE — Karen Mae Hayman, 72, went home to be with her Lord on February 24, 2016 following a long illness.
She was born August 30, 1943 in Chicago Illinois a daughter of Walter and Ina (Deaver) Sorensen. She graduated from Calumet High School in Chicago, Class of 1960 and attended Rockford College in Rockford, IL. On June 12, 1965, she married Rev. Franklin F. Hayman. Karen graduated from Baptist Bible Seminary of Johnson City, NY in 1967 with a Bachelor of Religious Education. She worked as a teacher, a church and school secretary, and in many church ministries alongside her husband over the 46 years of his ministry.
Karen is survived by her husband of 50 years of Cambridge; 2 sons, Nathan S. Hayman (Kim) of Ware, MA and Mark D. Hayman of Allegany, NY; a daughter Kristen Hayman Wyman (Adam) of Cambridge; a brother William Walter Sorensen (Wendy) of Chicago, IL; and 9 grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Jean Sorensen.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Monday, February 29th at the Cambridge Baptist Church with Rev. Laurence Brown officiating. Friends may call from 10 AM until the time of services. Spring burial will be in the Cambridge Memorial Garden. Memorial donations may be made to the Cambridge Baptist Church, 9 North Road, Cambridge, ME 04923. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter. TRUDY ANNE (BALL) LEVENSALOR

DEXTER — Trudy Anne (Ball) Levensalor, 70, died February 14, 2016 at her home in Dexter. She was born in Franklin, NJ, September 10, 1945 to Edward V. and Betty Jane (Talmadge) Ball.
She was a CNA for over 30 years, and Unit Secretary in hospitals, nursing homes, and Care and Comfort Home Care in Maine and New Jersey. She met Laurence Levensalor in 1980 and they were married in 1981.
She was of the Bahai Faith since 1975, and was a member of the South Sangerville Grange.
She leaves behind her husband Laurence; daughter Alice Haggert and significant other Dwayne Fillmore; son Jewell Brewer of Garland; stepson Jarrett Levensalor of Phoenix, AZ; and stepson Lonnie Levensalor of Lisbon Falls; grandchildren Sarah Roats and husband Sean of Dexter, Daniel Haggert and wife Brittney of Dexter, Kassandra Brewer and partner Mike Carin of Plattsburgh, NY, Dustin Babcock of Garland, Joshua Brewer of Portland, Kelly Doughty and husband Joshua of Dexter, and Logan and Trevor Levensalor of Orrington; great grandchildren Elizabeth Roats, and Zack and Shelby Haggert, Keon Carins, and Joshua Doughty Jr.
She was predeceased by her parents; a sister Shirley Leatham; a brother William Ball; baby girl Roats, and Lenny Haggert.
Special love to nephew William Ball and wife Jan, and to Celia and John Dennis, and many other nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service in the spring at the Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Dexter. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.

NELLIE L. RUDDER

NEWPORT — Nellie Louise (Andrews) Rudder, 76, passed away unexpectedly February 11, 2016 at her residence from complications related to heart surgery. She was born January 18, 1940 in Palmyra, the second child of Neal and Grace (Burlock) Andrews. Nellie graduated from Newport High School, Class of 1957.
She spent many of her early adult years raising her 2 sons in El Cajon, CA. Later, she moved to Santee, CA, where she purchased a condominium. She was employed in nearby San Diego as a warranty manager for several automobile dealers, eventually retiring from John Hine Pontiac there. In 2005, Nellie moved back to Maine, built a house in East Newport, and worked part time at the Newport Cultural Center. It was here in Maine that she was able to pursue the passion of her life—country music. She took guitar lessons and brushed up on the lyrics of many songs. She became a member of both the Maine and the Down East Country Music Associations. She could be found a couple nights a week playing guitar and singing at various country music jams throughout central Maine. She was voted the 2015 traditional country senior female vocalist of the year for central Maine. Nellie loved music, the musicians and the “magic”!
She is survived by her first husband, Charles G. Clark of Morro Bay, CA; 2 sons, Michael Neal Clark and wife Sonseree of Killeen, Texas and Roger Neal Clark of Yucca Valley, California; 2 grandchildren, Michael “Mickey” Clark (24) and Charles “Chucky” Clark (19) both of Kileen, Texas; a sister, Carol Seamans of Stetson; 3 brothers and their wives, Gerald and Sandy of Naples, Roger and Joelyn of Provo, Utah, and Alton and Roxanne of Westport Island; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by an older sister, Roberta; and 4 younger brothers, Neal, Richard, Francis and Roland.
Funeral services were held 11 AM Thursday, February 18th, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, with Roger Andrews officiating. Friends called from 10 AM until the time of service. Immediately following the funeral, a celebration of life reception was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 59 Libby Hill Road, Newport. LEO T. MICHAUD

CORINNA & GARLAND — Leo T. Michaud, 88, went to be with the Lord February 13, 2016 at his home. He was born June 7, 1927 in Kingfield, the son of Joseph and Aurora (Corey) Michaud. Leo served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, the Korean conflict, and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1603 Lewiston-Auburn.
Leo was a former mill worker and school bus driver. He enjoyed woodworking and volunteered on numerous building and repair projects at his church as well as for friends and relatives. He loved to play cribbage and would play for hours if anyone had the time.
He is survived by his wife Nancy; 2 sons, Leo P. Michaud, Tony and wife Alice Michaud; 4 daughters, April and husband Keith Palmer, Patty Sue and husband Ray Huston, June and husband Al White, and Penny Michaud; a stepdaughter, Brandi; 2 stepsons, Mike and Mark Prescott; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother, Reggie and wife Lula; 5 sisters, Irene Doliber, Claudia Wallace, Lornia and husband Norman Wood, Rita and husband Bob Hanning, and Mary St. Clair. He was predeceased by a sister, Rose Marie.

STASIA J. SZUFAT

CORINNA & EXETER — Stasia J. Szufat, 95, died February 11, 2016 at a Hartland nursing home.
She was born March 23, 1920 in Worcester, MA, as daughter of Frank and Mary (Szajer) Witkowski. She had retired as an office manager for a chemical manufacturer in MA. While there she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worcester, belonged to the Polish Falcons, and was a member of the Worcester Telegram and Gazette Bowling League. Stasia will be remembered as an avid gardener.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn and husband Douglas Pike of Exeter; a granddaughter, Lynn Pike of Hollis; 2 great grandchildren, Katie and Thomas Nishan; and a great great grandson, Michael Nishan; 2 nieces, Mary Sanderson and Linda Higgins; 1 nephew, Joseph Witkowski; and several cousins.
Stasia was predeceased by 2 brothers, Bernard and Chester Witkowski; and a sister Florence Sanderson.
Spring graveside committal services will be held at Exeter Center cemetery. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna.

PRESTON E. WENTWORTH

HARTLAND — Preston E. Wentworth, 66, died on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at his home in Hartland.
Preston was born on January 15, 1950, in Hartland, Maine, the son of Wallace and Elizabeth Wentworth. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a woodsman and mechanic by trade.
Preston was the kind of guy that would be willing and able to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his family.
He is survived by his siblings, Joyce Landry of Skowhegan, Larry Wentworth and wife, Rachel, of Canaan, Gloria Pease of Skowhegan and Charlene Babnaw of Hartland; nieces and nephews, Freddie, Richard, Raymond, Amy, Crystal, Wanda, Mike, Darcy, Jessica, Jason and Nicole; and many grand nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Rhonda Wentworth; brother-in-law, Michael Babnaw; and nephew, Kevin Babnaw.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Jordan cemetery, North Hartland Road, Hartland, with the Rev. Scott Jones officiating, where he will be laid to rest beside his mom. Military honors will be presented for his service to our country.

JAMES E. HOMSTEAD

PITTSFIELD — James E. Homstead, 67, died peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, in Bangor. He was born on March 26, 1948, in Bangor, the son of the late Frank "Bud" and Pathena "Tina" Homstead. He graduated from Maine Central Institute with the class of 1966. He proudly served our country in the United States Army National Guard.
Jim worked as a commercial fisherman for over 20 years. He owned and operated Homstead Marine Enterprises in Portland. He loved his time on the water and cherished the friends he made during that time in his life. He later worked various jobs in the private sector, and retired in 2010 after working eight years for the Bread of Life Ministries in Augusta, a job he found immensely rewarding.
As a teenager, he played base in various bands, often practicing in his parents' living room. Some of his fondest memories were of playing with the Missing Links. He played in bands through college and always had a story to tell about those days. One of his greatest passions was umpiring softball and baseball. His proudest moment was umpiring in the Girls Little League World Series Tournament in Portland, Oregon in 1997. He also travelled to Poland to umpire in the Little League European Regional Championships. His Little League family was just that - his family.
He is survived by his wife Marcia (Hallett) of Pittsfield; children, Lindsay Homstead McGriff and husband, Ryan, of Charlotte, N.C., David Levesque of Augusta and Patty Levesque of Peabody, Mass.; grandchildren, Ryannah, Rayah and David Jr. "Little D", as well as Little D's mom, Misty Duguay, whom he loved like a daughter; sister, Sandra Cote of Pittsfield, brother, Dean Homstead of Pittsfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bud and Tina Homstead; and his best friend, Fran Kulle who most likely was waiting for him with a new set of golf clubs.
The family receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A funeral service were held at 1:00 p.m., Feb. 11, at the First Baptist Church, Main Street with Pastor Bill Johnson officiating. A gathering will follow in the fellowship hall.

ALLEN MURPHY

MILO — Allen Murphy passed away at EMMC on Friday, February 5th, after a short illness, with his family by his side.
Allen was educated in Pittsfield schools where he grew up. The son of William and Kathleen Murphy.
Allen was a kind hearted man who loved his family, camping and being outside. He had many health issues that kept him from being able to work and do all the things he loved to do. He will be missed so very much.
Allen was predeceased by both his parents and an older brother, Richard. Also his wife, Mary of 35 years in 2012.
He leaves a sister, Suzzanne Murphy of Davenport, FL and sister, Sandra Carron of Pittsfield, ME, many nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service in the spring to be announced.

THEODORE M. ERVING

ST. ALBANS — Theodore M. Erving, 74, died January 29, 2016 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born May 17, 1941 in Wellington, a son of Perley and Frances (Stewart) Erving. He worked in construction as a young man and later worked as a woodsman and handsewer for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
In addition to his mother, Frances Libby of Harmony; he is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly Erving of St. Albans; his children, Donna Stewart and husband Robert, Randy Erving, Robert Erving and wife Mandy, Robin Reynolds and husband Jeffery, all of St. Albans; and a son Gerald Erving and wife Stacy of Burnham; grandchildren, Joshua and Nichole Stewart, Nick and Abbie Reynolds, Amanda Kenny, Heidi Hartsgrove, Amy Thompson, Alison, Alex, Megan, Jeremy, Zach and Morgan Erving; 14 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mildred Huff and Deborah Morrison; 3 brothers, Jeffrey, Lester and Daniel Erving.
Ted was predeceased by his father Perley and brother Donald Erving.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Monday, February 8th, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, with the Rev. Leonard Reiss officiating. A spring committal service will be held at the Maloon cemetery, St. Albans.

MILDRED “MILLIE” BUCKLAND

NEWPORT & CORINNA — Mildred Kathleen Buckland, 87, died Sunday morning, January 31, 2016, at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born May 20, 1928 in St. Albans, a daughter of Leland and Sadie (Bubar) Randall. Millie attended Corinna Union Academy and married John H. Buckland October 14, 1945. She was employed at Snowflake Canning Company in Corinna until it was destroyed by fire. She retired as a teller at the Dexter Regional Credit Union. She was a member of the North Newport Christian Church and attended the Corinna United Methodist Church.
Millie is survived by 3 sons, Bruce and wife Susan of Damariscotta, Victor and wife Cecile of Newport, and Valmore and wife Sandra of Hurricane, WV; 2 sisters, Doris Wintle of Dexter, and Glenice Willette and husband Richard of Corinna; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Millie was predeceased by her husband John and a great grandchild Elisha Chapman.
Friends called from 1 PM Thursday, February 4th, until the time of the funeral at 3 PM. Funeral services were held at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, with the Rev. Terence McKinley officiating. Spring burial will be in the North Newport cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the North Newport Christian Church, c/o Mrs. Regina Tuttle, 40 Sebasticook Avenue, Newport, ME 04953.

BARBARA (WENTWORTH) BATCHELDER

CORINNA & NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — Barbara Batchelder, 72, died February 1, 2016 at a New Port Richey, Florida hospice.
She was born March 12, 1943 in Dexter a daughter of Parker and Gladyes (Seaney) Wentworth. She graduated from Corinna Union Academy and was employed with the Hilton Hotel chain.
She is survived by 2 sons, Daren Batchelder of Jacksonville, FL, Gavin and wife Sonia Batchelder of Glenburn; a sister Audrey Bolstridge and husband Shirley Williams of Corinna; 2 grandchildren, Hannah and Abigail Batchelder.
Spring graveside committal services will be held at the Morses Corner cemetery, Corinna. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna.
