MICHAELA “SHELLY” O. HUTCHINSON

ST. ALBANS – Michaela O. Hutchinson, lovingly called Shelly, 63, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at her home in St. Albans.
Shelly was born on November 11, 1953, in Hartland, the daughter of the late Oren and Leona (Chapman) Neal. She graduated from Nokomis High School with the class of 1972 and received her Associates Degree with honors from KVCC in 2003. She worked for many years at Dexter Shoe and later was employed at EMMC as a medical coder.
She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with friends. Having campfires at the lake was one of her favorite past times and camping, hunting and fishing in her younger years was always fun.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, James Hutchinson of St. Albans; daughter Angel Knight and husband, Gerald of Hartland; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Floyd Neal and significant other, Ann, of Dixmont; sisters, Elaine Havey of Pittsfield and Maylene Neal of St. Albans; and five nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Darlene Neal Sides; brother-in-law, Spencer Havey; and niece, Tanya Neal.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Village cemetery, cemetery Road, St. Albans. A gathering will follow at James and Shelly’s Home on the Springer Road.
Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.

SUE WOODS

NEWPORT – Sue Woods, 93, died March 3, 2017 at the home of Jo Bennett and daughter Vicki Woods. She was born November 23, 1923 in Muncie, Indiana, a daughter of Audrey and Anna (Widner) Applegate. She attended the People’s United Methodist Church in Newport and was an avid reader.
Sue is survived by her son, David of Indiana; and her daughter, Vicki Woods of Newport. She was predeceased by her son Steve. The family especially wishes to thank Hospice of Eastern Maine for their care of Sue and support to Jo and Vicki, and a big thanks to Janet Bither who faithfully loved and cared for Sue these past few years.
Burial will be in Yorktown, Indiana. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Eastern Maine, 855 Union Street, #220, Bangor, ME or to the Newport Cultural Center, 154 Main Street, Newport, ME 04953.

FRANCIS E. SPENCER

SANGERVILLE – Francis E. Spencer, 70, passed away on March 4, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Francis was Born on July 31, 1946, the son of Edna (Butt) Spencer and Archie Spencer in Parkman, ME.
He attended Old Town and Bradford schools. He spent many years as a weaver at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna. Francis was a loving father and enjoyed the simple things like being able to go fishing, camping, sledding behind the mill and "the big hill by Grammie’s", dancing in the living room with the kids while listening to old records. He loved to create things out of wood. He was well known for his famous fried chicken, sweet rolls and banana bread.
He is survived by his significant other Nancy, son Michael of Nashua, NH, daughter Jean-Marie and fiancé Paul of Dexter, daughter April and husband Rick of Corinna, and sister Myrtle and husband Retire of Milo, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Francis was predeceased by his mother Edna and father Archie.
There will be a summer time memorial service.

RICHARD E. “DICK” GRAY

ETNA – Richard E. “Dick” Gray, 87, died March 4, 2017. He was born September 5, 1929, in Castine, one of seven children born to Wilbert and Effie (Hutchinson) Gray.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 62 years, Frances (Whitten) Gray of Etna; a son, Steven and his partner, Mark Randall; a daughter, Christine and husband, Joel Burrill; 3 grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, and Jillian; and 6 great grandchildren, Jules, Jocey, Abraham, Ezra, Henry and Olive; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his pal, his little dog, Gus.
Richard along with his wife, Frances owned the Corner Store in Newport for several years, and later retired from Edward’s in Pittsfield. He was an avid hunter and golfer and had many golfing friends both here and in Florida where he and Frances spent several winters. Richard “Dick” always said that he had a wonderful life.
Richard was predeceased by his father and mother, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters.
There will be no funeral services at this time. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Castine.

ERNEST DAVID BUTLER, JR.

HARTLAND — Ernest David Butler, Jr., 86, passed away February 23, 2017 at his home in Hartland surrounded by his family. He was born December 10, 1930 in Old Town, the son of Ernest David Sr. and Ethel Maude (Thompson) Butler.
He attended school in St. Albans. On March 27, 1976 he married Dorothy Legassie in Eddington. He was employed as a truck driver and pulp loader from 1945 to 1948; from 1948 to 1950 he was a leather worker, wheel man, loading and dumping tanning wheels for Hartland Tanning Company, then from 1953 to 1996, he became a supervisor at Hartland Tanning Company. He served on the Hartland Fire Department and was President of the Hartland Credit Union. Ernest enjoyed golf, horse shoes, fishing, and loved family gatherings. He was a veteran who proudly served his country in the US Army as a demolition specialist and heavy equipment operator in Germany and earned the rank of Sergeant. He served until his honorable discharge in 1953.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dorothy (Legassie) Butler of Hartland; 2 daughters, Rhonda Southard of Hartland, Cindy Webber and husband Kenney of Pittsfield; 3 sons, Philip Butler and wife Valarie of Unity, Mike Seekins and wife Wanda of Canaan, Paul Seekins of Salt Springs, Florida; granddaughters, Rhonda Kinney of Detroit, Heather Shaw of Sharon, South Carolina, Dayna Butler of Hartland, Taylor Butler of Palmyra; grandsons, Hunter Seekins of Canaan, Jacob Butler of Pittsfield, Cody Campbell of Canaan, Joshua Seekins of Winthrop; along with many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brother and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Ethel Butler; brothers, Alfred, Joe, Bobby, and Dick; and a son, Allen Butler.
A graveside service will be held at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial cemetery in Augusta in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Ernest’s memory to Beacon Hospice, 289 State Street, Suite B, Bangor, ME 04401.

ZACHARY GENE BRALEY

PLYMOUTH — Zachary “Zack” or as his friends called him “Buzz” Braley, 28, was taken far too soon in his home the morning of February 25, 2017. Zack was the first of two sons born to Kevin and Vickey (Witham) Braley on November 18, 1988. Zachary attended Newport Elementary School from Kindergarten to grade five, and then Caravel School in Carmel. He graduated from Hermon High in 2007 with a little (or a lot) of help from a special friend and vice Principal Michael O’Brien (or as Zack and other students called him “OB”).
Zack was a guy that loved spending time outdoors. It didn’t matter if it was in his garage working on dirt bikes, snowmobiles, and four wheelers, or riding on any and all of them; welding, building and burning bon fires, mudding in his pond at his home, hunting, skeet and target shooting or fishing; just as long as he was doing it surrounded by his many amazing friends.
He was employed at Zaychek Mechanical of Argyle, NY. Zach had previously been employed at A. M. Graves Construction and at C. A. Newcomb & Sons. He also will be remembered for helping everyone he knew with anything and everything.
He is survived by his mother, Vickey Witham and husband, Chris Hamor; paternal grandmother, Helen Braley; his brother, Dalton Everett Braley and wife, Morghan; the love of his life, Meghan Maddocks; his nephew and best friend, Jackson Kevin Braley; step sisters, Taylor and MacKenzie Hamor; beloved aunt Penny Demmons and husband Gerald, Uncles Larry and Bob Braley, Ronald Witham and wife Marie, Barry Witham and wife Carla, Larry Witham and wife Cathy and Andrew Witham and wife Deanna; many cousins; special friends Leigh Lander, boyfriend Matt Walker, Cole Cookson, Dylan Carroll, Kyle Ayer, Dave White, Joey Coffin, Dustin Dean, Brandon Hyson, Jeff Walker and many more.
Zack was predeceased by his angel daughter, Piper Jane Braley; paternal grandfather, Carl Braley; his father, Kevin Braley; maternal grandparents Arthur and Inez Witham; and Uncle Timfy Newt Braley.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4th, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, with Pastor Al Worden officiating. Friends called at the funeral home from 10 A.M. until the time of services. A Celebration of life immediately followed at the American Legion in Newport. Burial will be at Sawyer cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Zack’s honor can be made to Peoples United Bank, Zack Braley Memorial Fund, 44 Moosehead Trail, Newport, ME 04953.

BRADLEY P. HALL, JR.

SEBEC & HARTLAND — Bradley Page Hall, Jr., 62, died unexpectedly at his residence. He was born August 26, 1954 in Hartland, a son of Bradley and Norma (Saulmer) Hall, Sr. Brad was a member of Narcotics Anonymous and was proud to be sober and attending church for a number of years.
He is survived by his father, Brad, Sr., of Palmyra; a son, Corey Hall of Hill, NH; 2 brothers, James Hall, Sr. of Rhode Island, and Danny Hall of Brunswick; 4 sisters, Sharon Kowack, Dale Peplinski and Melissa Morrison, all of San Diego, CA, and Cam-May Hall of Hawks, MI. In addition to many aunts, uncles and cousins, he will be especially remembered by a special aunt and uncle, Barbie and Eddie Hall of St. Albans.
Brad was predeceased by 4 brothers, Jon, Brad Lee Hall, Craig and Kevin.
Graveside committal services will be held in the spring at the family lot, Pine Grove cemetery, Hartland. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

ELIZABETH MAYHEW

CARMEL — Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Mayhew, 53, died after a brief illness February 27, 2017, at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 6, 1963, in Amesbury, MA, the daughter of Eugene and Bonnie (King) Janvrin.
Beth attended schools in Newburyport and Amesbury, eventually receiving earning a GED. She worked various jobs in her lifetime including building lobster traps, shucking clams, store clerk, CNA, and driving a taxi, which she did for 17 years. Her latest job was driving for Penquis CAP, her favorite part being working with mentally challenged kids. Beth enjoyed doing things at her church, the Stetson Union Church, where she and her husband are members. She also liked to crochet and make beads, but she loved to go camping, and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Beth will be remembered as an outgoing person who was always there to help. She was a free spirit.
In addition to her parents, Beth was predeceased by her brother, Johnny Janvrin. She is survived by her loving husband of 12 years, Roy Mayhew; 3 brothers, Eugene, Fred, and Ronald Janvrin; step-father Joe Cole; her in-laws, Roy and Ellen Mayhew; several special nieces and nephews whom she was like a mother to; and several others.
Relatives and friends called from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, where a funeral service began at 1 PM, with Rev. David Ray, Sr. pastor of the Stetson Union Church officiating. Those who wish to remember Beth in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. BARBARA L. KITCHIN

PALMYRA — Barbara L. Kitchin, 87, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, in Palmyra.
Barbara was born on November 15, 1929, in Pittsfield, Maine, the daughter of the late Franklin and Mildred (Pierce) Wyman. She attended local schools and married Esmond Kitchin. They shared 67 years together.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being home, talking on the CB and taking care of her family. She loved bowling and playing card games, especially Skip-Bo and King in the Corner. She took pride in being part of the Detroit community and was a long time member of the Good Cheer Club, Night Drifters Snowmobile Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Detroit Fire Department. She was also involved in the American Legion in Hartland.
She is survived by her sons; Stanley Kitchin Sr and wife, Linda, of Pittsfield, Lawrance Kitchin of Florida, Van Kitchin and wife, Sharon, of St. Albans and Randy Kitchin of Detroit; daughter, Pamela Robbins and husband, Michael, of Palmyra; daughter- in-law, Lovina Kitchin of Detroit; grandchildren, Stanley II (Chip) Kitchin and wife, Kathy, of Detroit, Dawn Dugas and husband, Michael, of Pittsfield, Timothy Newman of Virginia, Sharon Newman of Florida, Barbara Kitchin and husband, Chad Becker, of Bangor, Amy Kitchin and partner, Ernie Parrow of Burnham, Justin Kitchin of Burnham, Melissa Small of Hartland, Michael Small of Portland, Robert Bouley II and wife, Rosadee, of Fairfield, Nicholas Bouley and wife, Amber, of Palmyra, Deanna Pickard and husband, Scott of Sabattus and Corey Robbins of St. Albans; many great grandchildren; siblings, Stanley Wyman of Springfield, Massachusetts and Barry Wyman and wife, June of Carmel; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Esmond Kitchin; three sons, Allen Kitchin, Eric Kitchin and Gary Kitchin; and sisters, Elaine Horton, Gloria Taylor, Janice Coston and Betty Hussey; and sister-in-law, Joyce Wyman.
A time of visiting and refreshments will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A committal will be held at 10:30, Sunday, June 11, at the Village cemetery, Route 220, in Detroit.
Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home 191 Hartland Avenue., Pittsfield, Maine.

MARY HASELTINE WRIGHT

PITTSFIELD — Thomas Wright and his immediate family, Daphne, Eric, Andrea, David, Anita, Darren and grandchildren Emma, Rowan, Brandon, Taylor and Terrance wish to respectfully honor Mary Haseltine Wright, his Mother and their Grandmother’s passing on October 18th, 2016. She was a long time resident of Pittsfield, Maine and in later years was a resident of St. Petersburg, Florida. In loving memory of her life here on earth, donations can be made to the Order of the Eastern Star, Bethlehem Chapter in Pittsfield, Maine.
