VIVIENNE D. FANJOY
DEXTER and BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - Vivienne D. Fanjoy, 89, wife of the late Arnold "Diddy" Fanjoy, went home to be with the Lord, Jan. 25, 2004, in Brooksville, Fla. She was born Dec. 21, 1914, the daughter of Asa A. and Lydia (Miller) Carle.
ROBERT L. KRONBERG SR.
WINDHAM - Robert L. Kronberg Sr., 72, of Roosevelt Trail, died Jan. 29, 2004, at Maine Medical Center, after a long illness. Born April 24, 1931, in East Haven, Conn., he was the son of Edward and Beatrice (Messier) Kronberg and attended local schools. Following school, Mr. Kronberg enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. A self-employed contractor for many years, he particularly enjoyed remodeling projects. He attended The Windham Christian Life Center and served as a trustee there. A member of the Maine Antique Gas Engines Club, he was a collector and restorer of old one-lunger engines. He loved collecting them, the older the better. He would spend countless hours cleaning them and returning them to operating condition. Sometimes he would sell one but not very often, he did not want to part with any of them. Bob was also a collector of railroad cars and was a member of The Cotton Valley Railroad Club of Wolfeboro, N.H. He was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Heard and Beatrice Chapman. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Rell Hutchinson Kronberg of Windham; two sons, Robert Kronberg Jr. of Bumpass, Va., and Curt Kronberg, of San Diego, Calif.; three stepchildren, Larry Hutchinson of Bangor, Jodie Dietterich of Milo, and Tim Hutchinson of Brewer; four brothers, Edward, James, David and John, all of Connecticut; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at the Windham Christian Life Center, Gray Road, Windham, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be private at Arlington Cemetery, Windham. Arrangements are by the Dolby Funeral Chapel, Windham.
ROY LEWIS ARNOLD
BREWER - Roy Lewis Arnold, 83, husband of Edwina Arnold for 55 years, died Jan. 30, 2004, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born July 9, 1920, in Brewer, the son of the late Walter F. and Jennie G. (Murray) Arnold. Roy served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Ralph J. Pollard Lodge No. 217 A.F. & A.M., and the Isaac E. Clewley V.F.W. Post No. 4917, Brewer. Roy worked for most of his life at Eastern Fine Paper, and after his retirement he loved working outside around his house. He loved sports, the ocean, and going to the coast, but Roy especially loved his wife and children. Surviving in addition to his wife, Edwina, are two daughters, Janet and her husband, Shady Blackwell, of Brewer, and Nora and her husband, Donald Riley, of Eddington; grandchildren, April Blackwell and Matthew Goodine, Brook and her husband, Adam McLaughlin, and Jay Blackwell and Nida Sariya; two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Devin Goodine; brother, Edson Arnold; two sisters, Ruth Bickford and Phyllis Adams; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Everett and Lawrence Arnold. The family would like to thank the Staff at the Maine Veterans Home and New Hope Hospice for all their loving care. A special thank you to Gilligan's special care giver. A graveside service will be held at Jonathan Eddy Cemetery, Eddington, in the spring with Military Honors. THERESA MAY (NEPTUNE) GARDNER
PLEASANT POINT, SIPAYIK, PERRY - Theresa May (Neptune) Gardner, 69, passed away Jan. 30, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Lewey and Jerome Neptune. She was an active member of the Maine Basket Alliance for several years and took great pride in her contribution to the preservation of the art of Native American Basket Making. In Nov. of 1995, she was awarded an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Maine Arts Commission for her handiwork in traditional fancy basket making. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Surviving are one daughter Elizabeth (Lisa) and her husband, Ralph A. Francis Jr.; two grandsons, Nicholas Gardner and Ralph A. Francis III of Norwich, Conn.; one brother, Peter James Neptune; two sisters, Clara Neptune-Keezer and Edith Pond, all of Pleasant Point; beloved friend, Diane Apt; and a beloved niece, Cindy Pond, these two women were Theresa's guardian angels; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her, especially Elizabeth Carr, Carroll from Washington D.C., Carol Smith Fisher from Brewer, and Glenda from Texas. Friends and family may call at Edith Pond's residence Sunday and Monday Feb. 1 and 2. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Pleasant Point, Perry, with Rev. Gaffey celebrant. Interment will be in the Passamaquoddy Tribal Cemetery.
FREEMAN H. THOMPSON
LINCOLN - Freeman H. Thompson, 91, husband of the late Margaret (Read) Thompson, died Jan. 30, 2004, at a Lincoln healthcare facility. He was born March 13, 1912, in Beaconsfield, New Brunswick, the son of Harry A. and Minnie (Brooks) Thompson. Freeman is survived by his daughter, Catherine Thompson; a sister, Glennis Tilton; a sister-in-law, Hannah Kneeland, all of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Lincoln Cemetery, with the Rev. EMMA ARLENE EATON
BLUE HILL - Emma "Arlene" Eaton, 90, died Feb. 7, 2004, at a Penobscot healthcare facility. She was born March 18, 1913, in Blue Hill, the daughter of William P. "Pat" and Sarah E. "Nellie" (Padgett) Carter. In recent years she was active in the South Blue Hill Bible Study Group until she moved to the Penobscot Nursing Home, and there she enjoyed many activities, including Janet's reading group. She made many friends throughout the years, including her care providers at the nursing home and received letters and visits from friends and family during her stay there. Arlene is survived by her son, Duane F. Eaton; and her daughter, Jane M. Gordon; three generations of grandchildren, as well as extended family members. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth B. Eaton; her son, Ronald V. Eaton; and a daughter-in-law, Freda C. Easton; a son-in-law, Wilford A. Gordon; one granddaughter; and two great-grandsons. JAMES C. CAMBER
ELLSWORTH - James C. "Big Jim" Camber, 74, of Ellsworth, died at his home Feb. 8, 2004. He was born Dec. 20, 1929, in Lamoine, the son of Charles and Priscilla (Linscott) Camber. He was raised in Hancock County where he spent his whole life. He was a member of the U.S. Army and a veteran of the Korean War. He worked in the woods and with blueberries throughout his life. He enjoyed selling fruits, vegetables and wreaths beside the road to all his local friends of Ellsworth, Southwest Harbor and Swans Island. His gardening was always his pride. He was well known for his coaching baseball, softball, Little League, Sr. League and adult leagues in the Ellsworth area and Swans Island. He is survived by his best friend, his dog Fritz; his companion, Joy May; five children, Michael and his wife, Linda, of Swans Island, James of Ellsworth, Jeff and his wife, Lisa, of Ellsworth, Melinda and her companion, Steve, of Dexter and Melissa of California; a brother, Harold Camber of Waldoboro; a sister, Ruth Detloff of Arizona; a close aunt, Kathy Bridges of Hancock; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. CLARE E. (HENRY) REED
BREWER and PORT ORANGE, Fla. - Clare H. Reed, 74, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 6, 2004, at her home in Port Orange, Fla. She was born Clare Edith Henry on Nov. 18, 1928, at Unity, the daughter of Walter B. Henry and Edith May Young. She resided in Brewer for many years working for the Brewer school lunch programs and as record keeper for Reed's Auto Body Shop. She loved to knit, solve crossword puzzles, golf and had many friends at the Lakeview Golf Club in Unity. Clare is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Gardner E. Reed. She was a loving mother to her three children, David and his wife, Patricia, of Orrington; Cheryl and her husband, Thomas Lynch, of Hermon, and Carol and her husband, Timothy Archer, of Brewer. She also leaves a sister, Mary in Long Island, N.Y.; and a brother, Robert in Winslow; as well as eight grandchildren, Scott Reed, Patrick Reed, Rebecca Reed, Jonathan Archer and Justin Archer, T.J.
