Armance M. Poissonnier

1906-2002

WATERVILLE — Armance was also predeceased by a daughter, Beatrice Paulette; and survived by two additional grandchildren, Patricia Flannery and Vaughn Paulette.

Joseph Michael Arsenault-Hayes

1981-2002

SKOWHEGAN — Joseph Michael Arsenault-Hayes (a gift from God) prayed for was born Aug. 8, 1981, to Daniel J. Arsenault and Mary M. (McCarthy) Martin. "Joe" died untimely and unjustly although not alone, as glorious angels swiftly flew him to God and his eternal home on Saturday, July 27, 2002.

Joseph received his diploma from Skowhegan Area High School, class of 2000. He will be fondly remembered by several faculty members and classmates.

In the spring of 1994, Joseph received the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion and was welcomed into Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Parish Community by Fr. Marcel Chouinard and Sr. Suzanne Beaudoin.

Joseph enjoyed many hobbies such as stunt bike riding and bike repair, the Dallas Cowboys, music and was rarely without his Discman and headphones. He enjoyed the Demolition Derbies and hoped to one day participate. Joe liked working on cars with his friends. Joe had worked at Lake George Regional Park as a trail groomer. He volunteered at the local animal shelter, Recreational Center and was helping with haying at a local farm and had other area jobs.

Joseph was a loving son, brother, nephew, grandson, uncle and good friend. Joe is survived by his dad Daniel J. Arsenault, mom Mary Martin, step-dad Julian Martin, beloved brother Matt Hayes and sisters Sarah and Carrie Hayes and brothers-in-law, James D. Hayes and Jesse J. Whittemore; nieces, Chelsey and Sierra, nephews, Caleb, Jordan and Kohlby; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Martin of Rome, Marguarette (Thibodeau) Arsenault of Madison; uncles, Michael B. McCarthy of Skowhegan, Dennis and Vincent Arsenault of Madison and Florida; special uncle James McCarthy and family of Waterville; father figure, Reginald Hayes of Manchester, Maine; special friends, Miss Kylie Spooner of Indiana, Anthony Sy of Skowhegan, Edward Knox and family, and so many more.

Grandfathers, Alphonse Arsenault and Bernard McCarthy; grandmother, Carolyn V. McCarthy; several cousins and special friends, Dennis O. Tracy, Frank J. Polchies, Sonny Stratton, Eddie Stratton, and Mike Jones predeceased him.

All things bright and beautiful. All creatures great and small. All things wise and wonderful. The Lord God made them all.

Friday, Aug. 2, 11 a.m. graveside services at Evergreen Cemetery in Solon with the Rev. Marcel Chouinard officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.

Gertrude J. Corson

1919-2002

WISCASSET — Gertrude J. Corson, 83, formerly of Waterville, passed away peacefully in the early evening of Friday, July 12, 2002, at Wiscasset Green Eldercare Home.

She was born June 22, 1919, in Concord, N.H., and was one of 12 children of Joseph and Eda Rinaldi, and graduated from Concord High School, class of 1937.

Gertrude was predeceased by her husband, John S. Corson, in the spring of 1987.

Gertrude enjoyed volunteering for a number of organizations, notably the Salvation Army, American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. She relaxed by reading, working on crossword puzzles and taking long walks. She maintained her fiercely competitive card playing skills until the very end. She was a lifelong member of the Order Of The Eastern Star. In her earlier years, she enjoyed traveling extensively but above all she dearly loved spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include Gertrude's sons, Jack Corson of Nobleboro, Allen Corson and wife Pat of Nobleboro; granddaughter, Taylor Corson of Boston, Mass., and grandson, Palmer Corson of Providence, R.I.; her sister, Did and husband Angelo Girolomon of Manchester, N.H.; cousin, Harold Santolini of Manchester, N.H.; brother-in-law, Charles Corson and wife Sue of Brewer.

A private family service was held July 17. Interment will be at the Gracelawn Cemetery in Auburn. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory can be made to the Kno Wal Lin Hospice Care, 170 Pleasant St., Rockland ME 04841.

Nathan K. Frost

1985-2002

WINSLOW — Nathan K. "Nate" Frost, 17, of Winslow, died Wednesday morning, July 31, 2002, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Vassalboro.

He was born July 15, 1985, son of Don and Diane (Proctor) Frost.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 3, (time to be announced) at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monument Street, Winslow. A complete obituary with time of funeral will appear in Friday's edition.

Edmund F. Leavitt

1914-2002

CORINNA — Edmund F. "Ed" Leavitt, 88, of Corinna, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at a Dexter healthcare facility.

He was born March 28, 1914, at Exeter, son of William and Lena (Landry) Leavitt, and attended Exeter schools and worked at Moosehead Woolen Mill in Corinna. He later worked for a time at a woolen mill in Tilton, N.H., before serving in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 during the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge in World War II.

After the war, he owned and operated Ed's Barber Shop in Corinna for 50 years. He was a retired volunteer fireman in Corinna, enjoyed playing a number of musical instruments, loved to listen to music and will be remembered as an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was a life member of the Corinna American Legion Post No. 73 and was a 32nd Degree Mason, Parian Lodge. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Anah Temple Shrine and was also a member of the Tri-County Shrine Club.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen "Jody" (Bird) Leavitt of Corinna; daughter, Margaret and husband Jeffrey Drinkwater of Guilford; grandsons, Andrew Bell of Hartland and David Bell of Ripley; step-son and wife Dr. Kenneth and Martha Bouchard of Royalston, Mass.; step-daughter, Jolene Duplisea and husband Glen of Dexter; two step-grandchildren, Gretchen and Stephanie Duplisea of Dexter; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Boyce of Bangor and Rowena Burrill of Presque Isle; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna, where a funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, with the Rev. Dianne Danielson officiating. Burial will be held at the family lot in Corinna Village Cemetery.

James N. Moshier Sr.

1964-2002

CORNVILLE — James Nelson Moshier Sr., 38, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, in a vehicle-pedestrian accident while working on Tyler Road in Windsor.

He was born March 9, 1964, in Gardner, Mass., the son of Stewart J. and Doris (Frost) Moshier.

He was married Dec. 13, 1986, in Cornville to Cathy J. Campbell.

James received his high school diploma from Skowhegan Area High School Adult Education in 1997. He has been employed by Lucas Tree Experts, Norridgewock Branch, for the past eight years.

His family always came first, he loved being with his wife and children every second possible and he loved helping his family and friends whenever he could. He will always be a legend in his family's heart.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy J. (Campbell) Moshier; his son, James N. Moshier II, and his daughter, Mindy J. Moshier; a niece, Peggy L. McCarty, a great-niece, Shawna Lynn McCarty; his mother, Doris A. Moshier, his brother, Stewart L. Moshier and his wife Allison; a sister, Ailda M. Lee and her husband Robert, all of Cornville; sister-in-law, Sylvia Hartsgrove and her husband Allen of Norridgewock; nephew, Kevin Hartsgrove and his wife Janelle of Madison; great-nephew, Cody Hartsgrove of Madison, a niece, Kelley Robertson and her husband Robert of Norridgewock; two great-nephews, Zack and Justin Robertson of Norridgewock; father- and mother-in-law, Raymond and Clara Campbell of Springfield; many other family members and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Fairview Cemetery in Canaan with the Rev. Richard Haynie officiating. Arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home in Madison.

Joseph Thibodeau

1918-2002

SOLON — Joseph Thibodeau, 83, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, in an automobile accident while on vacation in Idaho.

He was born Dec. 1, 1918, in Madison, the son of Xaiver and Denise (Cyr) Thibodeau. Joe graduated from Madison High School and served with the Air Corps Engineers in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was employed by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife as a game warden for several years and had also worked at the fish hatchery in Embden. He worked many years as a heavy equipment mechanic for several local companies.

He was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Bingham, a past member and past commander of Arnold Trail Post No. 8934 Veterans of Foreign Wars of Embden, past commander of Department of Maine District No. 5 VFW, and a current member and Sr. Vice Commander of the Joseph R. Sanford Post No. 3198 VFW of Skowhegan.

His wife Bernice (Whited) Thibodeau died previously.

He is survived by a brother, Philip Thibodeau of Nipimo, Calif., a dear friend, Gladys Rogers of Solon; several nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives may call from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Giberson Funeral Home, 18 River St., Bingham. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Owens Street in Bingham with the Rev. Maurice Morin officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Skowhegan. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make a memorial contribution to St. Peter's Catholic Church, PO Box 667, Bingham ME 04920; or to the Joseph R. Sanford Post No. 3198 VFW, 37 Main St., Skowhegan ME 04976.

Rachel M. Bolduc

1912-2002

WINSLOW — Rachel M. Bolduc, 90, died peacefully late Tuesday night, Oct. 8, 2002, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville following a brief illness. She was born May 18, 1912, in Beauceville, Quebec, Canada, daughter of Pierre and Apolline (Poulin) Gilbert. She married Alfred Bolduc, Sept. 2, 1935, in Beauceville.

Then they moved to Lewiston, Maine, where they made their home and worked in the local shoe factories until their retirement in 1974. In 1979, they moved to Fort Halifax Commons in Winslow to be closer to family and friends.

She still enjoyed driving her little red sports car into town weekly for what became knows as her "errands!" She was a very active part of the Fort Halifax Commons community and enjoyed caring for her many friends and her small garden. Her contagious smile and flirtatious twinkle will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred, Oct. 18, 1980.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many special and dear friends.

She was a communicant of St. John The Baptist Church of Winslow.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, St. John's Catholic Church, Monument Street, Winslow. Burial will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove Street, Waterville.

A very special "thank you" to Ann and Maurice Gilbert for all their love and devotion.
