PROSPECT - Graveside services for Beatrice E. Gerow, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Pilgrim's Home Cemetery, Monroe. Arrangements by Foley Funeral Service, Bangor.

DORIS L. GRANT

WINTERPORT - Doris Abbie (Leighton) Grant, 89, passed away, April 14, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. She is survived by a son, Walter Seldon Knox, Sr. and his wife, Eileen of Winterport; two daughters, Florence Libby and Kenneth Parker of Holden and Carolyn McAlpine, and her husband, Charles, of Levant; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Walter M. Knox and second husband, Charles W. Grant. At Doris's request there will be no formal services. Gifts of remembrance may be made to the Doris L. Grant memorial heart and cancer fund, care of St. Joseph Healthcare, P.O. Box 1638, Bangor, ME 04402-1638. Arrangements entrusted to the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.

GEORGE B. GRASS

BROOKTON - George B. Grass, 88, husband of Frances (Landry) Grass, died April 11, 2004, at a Houlton healthcare facility after a short illness. He was born June 21, 1915, in Forest Station, the son of Edward and Minnie (Grass) Grass. George was a life long resident of Forest and Brookton. He worked for 30 years as a section man on the railroad, 25 years of that for the Maine Central and five years for the Canadian Pacific, from which he retired. George was a member of the Brookton Baptist Church where he served as custodian. He took great pride and pleasure in his family, enjoying their many visits in his later years. He looked forward to his nightly ice cream with Russell. George enjoyed many faithful years of care by Frances, not having to leave home until he required hospitalization. In addition to his wife of 66 years, Frances, he is survived by two sons and their wives, Russell and Donna Grass of Brookton and Morris and Barbara Grass of Molunkus; two daughters and their husbands, Minnie Sue and Michael Childers of Portsmouth, N.H., and Rose and Herbert Williams of Molunkus; a brother, Samuel Grass of Danforth; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grand-children; two great-great-grandsons. He was predeceased by two infant sons; two brothers, Leonard and Guilford and four sisters, Gladys, Hazel, Lydia, and Grace. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clay Funeral Home - Bartlett Chapel, 24 Houlton Road, Danforth. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Peter Grenier officiating. Interment will be in Eaton Hillside Cemetery. Those who wish may donate in his memory to the Brookton Baptist Church.

JUANITA HALL

HOULTON - Juanita Hall, 80, died April 14, 2004, at Houlton. She was born Nov. 1, 1923, in Wentworth, N.H., the daughter of Walter and Ethel (Brown) Downing. Juanita was a member of the R.S.V.P. and a deaconess at the Worldwide Church of God. She is survived by three children, Gary Randall, and Joan Randall, both of Wentworth, N.H., Lynn Randall of Houlton; five grandchildren, Vincent, Cameron, and Derek Randall, Crystal and Jason Cookman; four great-grand-children, five stepchildren, Charles Hall of Houlton, Cecil Hall of Waterville, Arlo Hall of Houlton, Diane David of Muskegon, Mich. and Elaine Hall of Plymouth, Mass.; one sister, Gwen Newton of Ashland, N.H.; several nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, William Randall in 1965 and her second husband, Cecil Hall in 1997; two brothers, Hugh Downing, Norman Downing; two sisters, Naomi Brown, and Pricilla Wolfe; and one step-daughter, Yvonne Brewer. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2004, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, with the Rev. Pat McHugh officiating. Interment will be in Smith Cemetery in Bridgewater. Those who wish may donate in Juanita's memory to the American Alzheimer's Association, care of Bowers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 579, Houlton ME 04730.

JULIA C. HARRIS

OLD TOWN - Julia C. (Clark) Harris, 89, passed away early Wednesday, April 14, 2004, surrounded by her family at an Orono nursing facility. She was born in Milford, May 29, 1914, the daughter of the late Charles and Keziah (Smith) Clark. Julia attended Old Town schools and was a graduate of Old Town High School. She was employed at the University of Maine Dining Halls for 15 years. Julia was an active member of the Old Town United Baptist Church and the R.S.V.P. program. She was an avid harmonica player, a true Red Sox fan and also enjoyed crocheting. She loved to play "Scrabble" with her friends and family, winning a majority of the games. She is survived and will be sadly missed by a son, Sam Harris and his wife, Maureen of Waldoboro; daughter, Meredith May and her husband, Tom of Fort Washington, Md.; son, Christopher Harris and his wife, Joannie, of Waterville; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a brother, Homer Carr and his wife, Dodie, of Bangor, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul K. Harris, 11 brothers and sisters and a granddaughter, Karen Spencer. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A celebration of life will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday at the Old Town United Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Stevens officiating. Friends are invited to the Church Undercroft for a luncheon and continued fellowship while a private committal service will be held at Lawndale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial contributions to the Old Town United Baptist Church, 86 Middle St., Old Town, ME 04468.

CHESTER - Barbara R. Jordan, 50, died unexpectedly, April 13, 2004. Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.

PAUL A. LEIBFARTH

DIXMONT - Paul A. Leibfarth, 49, formerly of Ringwood, N.J. and Warwick, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly April 12, 2004, at a Danbury, Conn. hospital. He was born Dec. 5, 1954, in Bronx, N.Y., the son of Albert and Gloria (Hambrook) Leibfarth. Paul loved boating, hunting, snowmobiling, and the woods but most of all being with his wife and children. He was a member of the Erskine Lakes Fire Department of Ringwood, N.J. for many years and a member of the Excavators Union No. 731, New York, N.Y. He is survived by his mother, Gloria (Hambrook) Leibfarth of Ringwood, N.J.; his wife, Nancy (Loeven) Leibfarth; two sons, Jon-Paul and Peter Leibfarth; two daughters, Jacquelyn and Samantha Leibfarth, all of Dixmont; one brother and his wife, Peter Leibfarth and Michele, of Yankton, S.D.; one sister, Linda Johnson of Ringwood, N.J.; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father and one sister, Nancy Nadel. Friends may call 3:30-8 p.m. Friday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 540 Essex St., Bangor, with the Rev. Elaine Hewes, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the church following the interment. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the Nancy Leibfarth Children's Education Fund, care of Bangor Savings Bank, 3 State St., Bangor, Me. 04401.

BARBARA ELLEN LITTLE (04/15/2004)
CARIBOU - Barbara E. Little, 62, wife of Clyde Little, died April 13, 2004, at Van Buren. She was born at Woodland, March 30, 1942, the daughter of Rudolph and Evelyn (Dorman) Clonnan. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Mockler Funeral Home.

THOMAS C. MCKINNON

FORT FAIRFIELD - Thomas C. McKinnon, 67, husband of Judith A. McKinnon, died Tuesday evening, April 13, 2004, at a Caribou healthcare facility after a long illness. He was born July 16, 1936, at St. John, Maine, the son of Thomas and Abigale (Gardner) McKinnon. He attended St. John schools and was married to Judith Ann Dougherty on July 20, 1958. He was an avid outdoors man and sportsman who cherished nature and possessed a special love for his family and attended the Celebration Center, Fort Fairfield. In addition to his parents, Thomas was predeceased by one brother, George McKinnon; four sisters, Ida Hafford, Thelma McKinnon, Charlotte Kennedy and Annie Adams. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judith A. McKinnon of Fort Fairfield; two daughters, Becky Barnes and her husband, Dennis, of Fort Fairfield, Tammy Hatheway of Saco; two grandsons, D.J. Barnes of Fort Fairfield, Stevie Van Tassel of Saco; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2004, at the Celebration Center, Houlton Road, Fort Fairfield with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. A time of fellowship with refreshments will be held at Celebration Center reception area immediately following the memorial service. Since Tom wouldn't want anyone to fuss over him his family asks that all in attendance dress casually. In lieu of flowers, those who choose may contribute in memory of Mr. McKinnon to the Celebration Center Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 738, Fort Fairfield, ME 04742. Envelopes will be available at the church. Arrangements are in the care of the Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.

MADELINE NASON

SHERMAN - Madeline Nason, 84, of Sherman, died April 14, 2004, at her home. She was born July 14, 1919, in Sherman, the daughter of Burns and Alida (Wood) Smith. She is survived by one son, Tony Nason of Sherman; one sister, Erma Whitehouse of Island Falls. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland in 1999. Services will be private. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.

FLORENCE L. SCRIPTURE

BREWER - Florence L. (Jellison) Scripture, 91, went to be with our Lord, April 13, 2004, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 11, 1912, in Hermon, the daughter of Elmer and Doris (Hammond) Jellison. Florence's main interest was her family and beloved dog Barney. She enjoyed TV soap opera's, game shows, and cribbage. For many years Florence enjoyed making crazy patchwork quilts, especially baby quilts. She is survived by one son, Carleton M. Scripture and his wife, Frances, of Colorado; three daughters, Jean Marie Scripture, Sheila R. and her husband, John Lewia, and Carolyn Daisy Scripture, all of Brewer; one daughter-in-law, Eva Scripture of Newburgh; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Light of Hermon; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Merle J. Scripture; two sons, Gerald and Earle Scripture; one sister, Frances Hamm. The family would like to thank the staff of Bangor Visiting Nurses, Hospice of Eastern Maine, Dr. Gary Ross and Dr. Adam Lauer, for all their care and consideration in their time of need. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004, with the Rev. Randall Wilbur, officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hermon.

RICHARD C. 'DICK' TARDY SR. (04/15/2004)
HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Richard C. "Dick" Tardy Sr., 65, died April 13, 2004 at the Park-view Huntington Hospital. Mr. Tardy was born Oct. 30, 1938 in Presque Isle, a son of the late Edmond and Mary (Lascore) Tardy. He graduated from Presque Isle High School.

PHYLLIS WILLIAMS

ELLSWORTH - Phyllis Williams, 82, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at home with her family in Ellsworth. She was born April 2, 1922, in Danforth, the daughter of Cecil and Etta (Morse) Bragdon. Phyllis' family was the most important part of her life. She is survived by two children, Betty Lou Woodard and her husband, Barry, and Gary Williams, all of Ellsworth; two grandsons, Troy Woodard and his wife, Sheryl, of Tremont, and Todd Woodard of Ellsworth; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Nicholas Woodard of Tremont; two sisters, Lois Watt of Lisbon, and Martel Craig of Auburn; three brothers, Arthur Bragdon of Oxford, Clive Bragdon of Masardis, and Clair Bragdon of Mars Hill; a stepsister, Julia Stoddard of Danforth; a stepbrother, Donnie Bragdon of Stockton Springs; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Emery F. Williams, to whom she was married for 40 years, on April 19, 1982. Graveside services for the family will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004, at the Seldon Cemetery, Seldon. Gifts in memory of Phyllis may be sent to Hancock County Homecare, P.O. Box 156, Blue Hill, ME 04614. Arrangements are by Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Ellsworth.
