Margaret Eaton Partridge

RUMFORD - Margaret Eaton Partridge, 87, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2010 at Rumford Hospital.

She was born in Searsport on Aug. 18, 1922, the eldest child of the late James Murl Eaton and Minnie Coffin Eaton. She resided at Concord Apartments in Rumford.

She married the late Charles L. Partridge of Wilton on Sept. 21, 1940.

Margaret loved cryptograms and for many years played in several bridge clubs, catered parties, while living in Ridgewood, NJ.

She is survived by a brother, Cony Eaton and wife, Beverly of Georgia; three sisters of Rumford, Minnie Seigle, Beverly Richards and Roxalynn Power and husband Harry Powers; a daughter-in-law, Georgianne Partridge of Goshen, NY; a grandson, James Partridge, Jr. of Oklahoma, and Bill Partridge of New Jersey; several nieces and nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, James and Minnie Eaton; husband, Charles Partridge; sister, Shirley Sawtelle; and brother, James M. Eaton, Jr.

H. Raymond McBean

ORONO -- H. Raymond McBean, died peacefully surrounded by his family at Orono Commons in Orono, ME on December 23, 2002.

Raymond, the son of Annie (Rutherford) and Albert McBean in Quebec, Canada, was born on May 15, 1918. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Rumford and the Mexico Congregational Church.

His great accomplishments in life were his dedication and service to his Lord, family, relatives, community, and country.

He was a graduate of Stephen's High School, Rumford with the class of 1936. While in high school, Ray excelled in athletics especially, basketball, baseball, and ski jumping. He held a state title in track that remained unbroken for many years and he was the Rumford singles champion in tennis.

After graduation, Ray attended radio and radar school in Boston. On April 20, 1942 he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served in the Pacific Operation during WWII, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant

In October of 1942, Ray married Kathleen Faye Goodridge of Mexico. They made their home in Rumford, where Ray worked and retired from Boise Cascade and All-State Insurance Company.

Ray was a dedicated member of the Rumford Community. He belonged to numerous organizations which included the American Legion Post 24 of Rumford, the Rumford Park Commission, founder and commissioner of the Rumford Little League Organization, chairman of the Rumford School Board, and the Oakdale Country Club. After retirement, Ray made his home in Florida, Worthley Pond, and Orono, ME.

Ray was loved and will be missed by many friends and relatives. His survivors include his devoted son, Thomas McBean and his wife, Kristina of Hampden, ME; his grandchildren, Natalie Fournier and her husband, Adam of Bangor, ME; his grandson, Craig McBean of Tempe, AZ; his great grandson, Derek Fournier of Bangor, ME; his sister, Vera Kaulback of Yarmouth, ME; his sister in-law, Marion McBean of Midlothian, VA; and many dear nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his loving wife; Faye; his brother, Wesley McBean; and his son, John.

Frank A. "Chico" Salatino

FARMINGTON -- Frank A. "Chico" Salatino, 70, of Rumford died on May 27, 2003 at his eldest daughter's residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on September 15, 1932 in Rumford, ME to Vito and Teresa (Papasadora) Salatino, Sr. He was a graduate of Stephens High School with the Class of 1951.

He married Betty Brown of Mexico on October 13, 1951. He worked for Boise Cascade as a Foreman for over 40 years until his retirement in 1991.

Frank loved spending time with his family at their cottage on Garland Pond, as well as fishing, hunting and four wheeling. He was a long time member of the Sons of Italy, where he enjoyed bocce ball and bingo among the company of numerous friends.

Known as "Chico" to friends and "Bumpa" to his family, he is survived by his mother Teresa, wife Betty, son Joseph and wife Mary, all of Rumford; daughters Jacqueline Mawhinney and her husband, Britt, and Teresa Lucy and her husband, Ray of Poway, California; siblings Vito and his wife, Mary of Massachusetts, Rocco and his wife, Julie of Rumford, Joseph of Lewiston, James and his wife, Betty of Dixfield, Joanne of Portland, Julia of Rumford, Annette Austin and her husband, Richard of Rumford, and Lucy Day and her husband, Richard, also of Rumford.

He dearly loved all of his grandchildren and would go to any length to be there for them; Chris of Rumford, and his children Elijah, Parker, Andrew and Kayla; Beth and her fiancˇ, George Gallant of Dixfield and their children Kelsey and George; Adam, Brian and Gina Mawhinney of Farmington, and Danielle and Nicholas Lucy of Poway, California, as well as many faithful friends.

Frank will be dearly missed...but never forgotten.

He was predeceased by his father, Vito; sisters, Mary Gaudet and Pauline; and grandson, Michael.

Olive C. Morin

LEWISTON -- Olive C. Morin, 64, of Rumford died at CMMC on March 3, 2004.

She was born on Jan. 13, 1940 in Eustis, the daughter of Phillip and Olive (Wyman) Currie.

Olive graduated from Stratton High School in 1958. She then went to Farmington State Teacher's College.

She worked for many years at Timex in Connecticut. Olive and her husband Kailen moved to Connecticut in 1960 and returned to Maine in 2002.

Olive is survived by her beloved husband, Kailen; daughter, Kathy Lawrence of CT; two sisters, Ruth Wing of Gorham, Kathleen Lloyd of Lincoln, and Marjorie Currie of Mt. View, CA; and three grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Lois Currie.

Linda Mills

FARMINGTON -- Linda Mills, 53, of Farmington, died on Dec. 13, 2004 at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Farmington.

She was born Dec. 6, 1951, in Farmington, a daughter of Waman R. and Peggy (Darling) Mills.

She was a 1970 graduate of Mt. Blue High School and earned her associates degree from Husson College in Bangor. She enrolled at Bangor Community College, taking computer programming and in 1998 completed her bachelor of science degree in rehabilitative services from the University of Maine, Farmington.

Linda spent her career assisting people with special needs as a program coordinator, resource specialist, manager and in community advocate positions. She served on 15 different committees serving special needs, mental health and physically handicapped needs within the community, state and nation.

She was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Rehabilitation Committee of the State of Maine. She spoke as a lobbyist for disability related issues to the State House and Senate and attended eight conferences throughout the State and Country supporting disabled persons' rights and needs.

Linda accomplished all of this, even though confined to a wheelchair and assisted living.

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Farmington, and volunteered at local schools assisting young children. She took great pride in assisting in the home schooling of her nephew.

Her name is listed in the National Book of "Who's Who" in Washington, DC. She loved her cats and being a confidant to her nieces and nephews.

She is survived and dearly missed by her mother, Peggy Mills of Farmington; three brothers, Thomas Mills and wife, Donna of Fort Worth, TX, John Mills and Ali of Wilton, and Scott Mills and wife, Robin of Bethel; a sister, Sally Clemens and husband, Dale of Wilton; and 21 nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Waman R. Mills in 1977; and a niece, Brandi Lee Kramer in 1991.

John J Brennick, III

RUMFORD - John J Brennick, III, 81, died on April 29, 2006 at the Rumford Hospital. He was a resident of Hancock Street in Rumford.

Born in Rumford on June 25, 1924, he was a son of John and Yvonne (Provencher) Brennick II. He was a graduate of Stephens High School.

He served in the US Army with the Company B 865th Engineer Battalion. He worked for Boise Cascade in the Color Plant for 44 years until his retirement in 1986.

John was a communicant of St. Athanasius-St John Church, Napoleon Ouellette Post #24 American Legion, Robert Shand Post #1641 VFW. He loved horse racing, beano and cribbage.

He was married in Rumford to the former Louise Poisson, who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include fours sons, David Brennick of Portland, John Brennick of Windham, Michael Brennick and his wife, Janet of Mexico, Mark Brennick and his wife, Sara of Rumford Center; six daughters, Deborah Simpson of Lewiston, Gail Gaudin and her husband, Patrick of Peru, Gloria Carter and her husband, Jim of Rumford, Carol Nadeau and her husband, Michael of Rumford, Pam Bryant and her husband, David of Ada, OK, Kelly Bordeau of Mexico; a brother, Raymond and his wife, Inez of Farmington Falls; 31 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Julia M. Garneau

CANTON - Julia M. Garneau, 93, of Canton and formerly of Peru, died May 6, 2006 at Victorian Villa Rehabilitation & Living Center.

She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, a daughter of William and Anna Balcunas. Julia was educated in Mexico schools and lived locally all of her life.

She was employed for ten years with Diamond Match Company and later as a clerk at Newberry's Dept. Store in Rumford. Julia was a communicant of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Mexico.

She is survived by sisters-in-law, Frances Moffett and husband, Vern of Santa Maria, CA, and Priscilla Hilgenberg and husband, Donald of Matlacha, FL, Beverly Powell of Peru, Jeanne Blunda and husband, Vito of Peru, Audrey Garneau, and Midell Garneau, both of Peru; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Maurice Merrill in 1935; and her second husband, Cleston Garneau in 1983; a son, Robert Merrill and a sister, Mary Downs.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday at Demeritt cemetery in Peru.

Maurice E. Gogan

RUMFORD - Maurice E. Gogan, 93, of Black Bridge Road in Mexico, died on Jan. 31, 2007 at the Rumford Community Home following a brief illness.

He was born in New Brunswick Canada on Nov. 13, 1913, a son of Edouard and Alvina (Bourque) Goguen. Maurice was educated in Rumford Schools.

He was in the US Army during WWII, serving in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.

Maurice was employed for 19 years as a welder for Boise Cascade. Prior to this, he was employed by Norton Abrasive and Harrington Richardson Arms, both in Worcester, MA, and for several years served as sexton at St. John cemetery in Rumford.

He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Maurice loved gardening, fishing, hunting and especially loved his tomato plants and peach tree.

There will be no visiting hours. A Graveside service will be held in the spring at St. John Cemetery. If so desired contributions in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association of Maine, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330.
