Ida M. MacDougall

MEXICO - Ida M. MacDougall, 97, died on October 13, 2008 at the Victorian Villa Boarding Home in Canton. She was a resident of Middle Avenue in Mexico.

Born in Livermore Falls on January 30, 1911, she was a daughter of Angus and Mary (Cormier) Tremblay. She was a graduate of Mexico High School and Farmington State Teachers College with a Masters Degree in Education.

She was a school teacher for Kimball School in Mexico where she retired as principal. She was a member of the Maine Teacher's Association and the National Teacher's Association.

She was married in Mexico in October of 1955 to the late C. Spurgeon MacDougall, who died March 8, 1966 in Rumford.

Survivors include a step son, Allan MacDougall of Avon Park, FL; a sister, Irene Austin of Auburn; many step grandchildren; and a special friend, Mary Blouin of Rumford.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be in the Hillcrest cemetery in Milan, New Hampshire.

Jeannette 'Gipsy' Walczak

GREEN VALLEY, AZ - Jeannette "Gipsy" Walczak, 76, of Green Valley, passed away on Nov. 4, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on Oct. 27, 1932, in Mexico, she was the daughter of Francois and Eva Cormier. Jeannette graduated from Mexico High School in 1950, and pursued her education

at Loyola and Chicago State University.

She taught school and was a librarian for 20 years at T.F. South High School in Lansing, IL.

She married Aleksander Walczak, who passed away on March 29, 2005.

Jeannette was the founder of the Green Valley Recreation Folk Dancers and they would perform on stage for different groups.

She was also a member of the National Society of Decorative Painters, the Art Association in Crowley, LA, Fabric Painting, and the Computer Club, Line Dancers, Red Hatters, and a member of the Republican Club.

Jeannette is survived by a brother Norman Cormier of Poland Springs, ME; three sisters, Theresa Therriault of Mexico, ME, Yvette Cormier of Crowley, LA, and Cecile Daniels of Tallahassee, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Many thanks to all her caregivers from Odyssey especially Jan Rowland, who gave her special care.

The family also appreciates all her friends and neighbors who supported her.

Laura Remeika

FARMINGTON - Laura Remeika, 87, longtime resident of Highland Terrace in Mexico, died on December 8, 2008 at the Sandy River Nursing Home.

She was born in Edmundston, N.B., Canada on December 7, 1921, a daughter of Joseph and Marie (Lagasse) Belanger.

Laura was a beautician in Mexico for many years.

She was a communicant of St. Theresa's Catholic Church. While a resident at Sandy River, Laura enjoyed playing beano, and helping other residents with their cards and delivering the mail.

She is survived by a daughter, Ann Harlow and husband, William of Jay; seven grandchildren, Mark Remeika and wife, Darlene, Brian Remeika and wife, Barbara, Christopher Remeika, Dean Harlow and wife, Sandy, Paula Nelson and husband, Chris, Cindy Drumm and Kristie Drumm; and several great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Paul Remeika; a son, Robert Remeika; a sister, Cecile Parent; and two brothers, Walter and Leo Belanger.

Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m on. Wednesday at SG Thibault Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Parish of the Holy Savior, 126 Maine Ave., Rumford. Spring Interment will be in Farrington Morton cemetery in Mexico. If so desired contributions in her memory may be made to the Residents Activity Fund at Sandy River Nursing Home, 119 Livermore Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.

Peter J. Perry

RUMFORD - Peter J. Perry, 62, died unexpectedly on March 30, 2009 due to complications from open heart surgery.

He was born on Sept. 13, 1946 in Rumford, the son of Jennie Rinaldo Perry and Alfred "Blackie" Perry. He graduated from Stephens High School in 1965.

He served in the U.S. Army as a medic for two years. He also received an associates degree in building construction from Eastern Maine Tech in 1973.

In 1970, he married his partner for life, Patty Carrier Perry. He worked for NewPage for 27 years. Pete was an incredibly honest and hard-working man. He was the best husband, father and "Bubby" in the world.

He will be sadly missed by his adoring grandchildren, Julia and Ali Bernard of Rumford, and Lucas and Kate Perry of Farmington; his daughter, Michelle Bernard and her husband, James Bernard of Rumford; two sons, Eric Perry of Rumford and Sean Perry of Old Town; two sisters, Cindy Perry of New York, and Claire Lambert and her husband, Leroy Lambert of Portland; two brothers, Terrance Perry and his wife, Paula Perry of Rumford, and Tim Perry and his wife, Fran Perry of Alabama.

He was predeceased his parents; his sister, Peggy Donnell; and his niece, Tara Perry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the Holy Savior Church in Rumford. Spring Interment will be at the St. John's Cemetery.

Dorothy Roy

RUMFORD - Dorothy Roy, 78, of Strafford Avenue, Rumford, passed away at the Rumford Community Home on June 6, 2009 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

She was born on October 27, 1930 in Houlton to Phillip and Hilda Daigle. She was the youngest of seven children.

At the age of 8, she moved from Houlton to Mexico, where she eventually became the captain of the Mexico High School girls' basketball team, and graduated from Mexico High School Class of 1949.

She married Leonard Roy on July 27, 1953. Dorothy enjoyed making home cooked meals, and spending time with her family.

Dot loved gardening in her beautiful perennial flower gardens. She was very proud to be a grandmother, and spent a lot of her time following her grandchildren's school activities and sports. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida with her husband to visit family and attend Boston Red Sox spring training games. She loved all animals, including her long time pet cat named Margaret, better known as "Bug Bug." Dot loved having tea and shopping with Aunt Jean.

She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Debra Roy of Vasselboro, Lenny and Terri Roy of Falmouth, Wendy Skaff of Cape Coral, FL, Sandra and Ed Desrochers of South Paris, and Mark Roy of N. Windham; five grandchildren whom she cherished dearly, Michael Dugas, Kristi Dugas, Chelsea Skaff, Jacob Skaff and Brandon Skaff; many brothers and sister-in-laws, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend and sister-in-law, Barbara Doherty.

She was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Margaret Soucey-Binette, Patrick Daigle, Francis Daigle, Herbert Daigle, Charlie Daigle, and Pearl Vaschon.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Rumford Community Home and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, who will always hold a special place in our hearts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Athanasius & St. John Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the Rumford Community Home, 11 John F. Kennedy Lane, Rumford, ME 04276. or the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, 284 Main St., Suite 290, Wilton, ME 04294.

Clydis Waneta Henderson

AUBURN - Clydis Waneta Henderson, 78, of Dixfield, died on July 22, 2009 with her family at her side.

She was born on January 29, 1931 in Rangeley to Hayden and Vesta (Nile) Ross. Clydis graduated from Rangeley High School where she was an outstanding basketball player.

On January 10, 1953, she married George M. Henderson. During her life she worked at several wood turning mills and spent 20 years at Stowell McGregor?s in Dixfield.

She enjoyed the comfort of her home where she adored feeding the wildlife off her back porch. She was generous to a fault, and a loving caretaker of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her unique sense of humor and funny sayings will be greatly missed.

Clydis is survived by four sons, Wayne Henderson and wife, Wanda of Fort Kent, William Henderson and wife, Allison of Ashland City, TN, Wendall Henderson of Dixfield, and Eric Henderson and wife, Margaret of Bridgton; two daughters, Mary Bond and husband, Brad of East Livermore, and Susie Gaudet and husband, Paul of Dixfield; 17 grandchildren, Wayne Henderson, Jr., Kevin Henderson, Crystal Jandreau and Curtis Henderson, Joshua Henderson, Theresa and Christopher Henderson, Jason, Nicole, and Kimberly Bond, Brian, Thomas, Sarah and Leo Henderson; Kate, Keith, and Krista Gaudet; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Methylene Hanscom of Jay.

She was predeceased by her husband, George; grandson, Ean Henderson; two brothers, Reynold and Joe Ross; and three sisters, Ethylene Kennedy, Lulene McKenna and Ardis Thompson.

D'Ann Savage Bochese Seidell

REGION - D'Ann Savage Bochese Seidell passed away unexpectedly on March 14, 2010.

Dee graduated from Telstar High School in 1982 and married Rick Savage in 1985.

Together they had three boys, Rick, Jr., Ryan and Randy. Dee lived a rich and full life. She was always full of energy. She loved watching her boys play whatever sport they were participating in. She loved planting flowers and taking pictures. She was a highly competitive athlete from high school through adulthood.

Over the years, she was employed by several Suburu dealerships in Maine, Connecticut and Florida.

She is survived by her loving sons, her sister Jodi and her husband, Gene, their children Robert and Alyssa. Chris and his wife, Diane, and a beloved niece, Megan, along with a special relationship with Taylor and Ashley Savage.

She was predeceased by her parents Joanne and Ronald, and brothers, Todd and Robert.

After a private family gathering, a casual celebration of life will take place at The Bethel Inn Conference Center at 4 p.m. Thursday. All who knew her are welcome to join us to commemorate her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Dee's mother.

Reginald Vernon Lannon

MASSACHUSETTS - Reginald Vernon Lannon, formerly of Rumford died on December 28, 2009 in Massachusetts.

He was born in Rumford on May 26, 1929, a son of John and Annie Lannon.

Reginald lived in Rumford for many years and later moved to Massachusetts.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Reginald in survived by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a sister, Zenia Hodgkins of Rumford.
