Rev. Robert H. Plummer

RUMFORD -- Funeral services with Military Honors for Rev. Robert H. Plummer of Dixfield and formerly of Rumford for many years, were conducted on July 22, 2011 at the Meader & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Timothy H. Parsons officiating.

Music selections were Ave Maria, and Chattanooga Choo Choo.

Special music led by Judy Kuhn on the key board was Here I Am Lord and sung by the Church Belles of the Rumford United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Timothy H. Parsons also played the guitar and lead everyone singing The Lord’s Prayer.

The reading was given by Rev. Merrill Bittner.

Words of remembrance were given by Rev. John Gensel, Fr. Lionel Chuinard, sons, Mark and David Plummer, and Rev. Ernest Farrar.

A reception followed at the Dixfield Congregational Church.

Military honors were provided by the Maine Military Funeral Honors Program from Augusta.

Linda Florence (Mason) Hastings

RUMFORD –- Linda Florence (Mason) Hastings, 97, of Rumford, formerly of Vienna, died Wednesday afternoon Aug. 3, 2011, with family by her side, at the Rumford Community Home where she had been a resident since July of 2009.

She was born April 2, 1914, in Vienna, one of eleven children of Harold and Matilda (Nickerson) Mason. She received her education in Vienna schools and on Oct. 12, 1932, married Charles Hastings in Mt. Vernon. He died on Dec. 10, 1980.

In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Maine Dowell in Vienna and Fairbanks.

She was a member of the North Vienna Methodist Church, the Philathea Club of Farmington Falls and Starling Grange in Fayette. On the CB radio, she was known as the “Biscuit Woman.” She enjoyed working hard, (both in the workplace and for the benefit of her family) for whom she would knit, cook and make her wonderful homemade biscuits. She especially enjoyed family gatherings around the holidays and taking scenic rides through the white mountains and around familiar country roads.

Her surviving family members are her four children, Virginia Wheeler of Chesterville, Florence Hastings of Peru, Linda Johnson and her husband, Chester of Canton, and Sharlene Hastings of Vienna; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Hastings of Vienna; sons-in-law, Raphael Rawlins of Wilton and Floyd Stevens of Vienna; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Alvin Roy Hastings and Charles Peter Hastings, Jr.; daughter, Shirley Ann Rawlins; sisters, Lillian Brown, Mary Bowie, Edna Davis, Nellie Howe, Madeline Metcalf and Goldie Easter; brothers, Ernest Trask, Hezekiah Mason, Norman Mason and Ezra H. Mason.

Patricia Ludwig Hale

PLYMOUTH, NH -- Patricia Ludwig Hale, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Plymouth, NH on June 7, 2011 after a short illness.

Pat was born in Rockland on Sept.26, 1926, daughter of Fred and Ina Clary Luddwig of Washington. She was educated in Washington schools, graduated from Bangor High School and attended the University of Maine.

She married Elliott (Bud) Hale on July 3, 1948 and resided in Rumford, St. Helens, OR, Washington, ME; and Plymouth, NH. She was a lifelong summer resident of Rangeley at the Hale properties on Greenvale Cove.

She is survived by her husband of Plymouth and three sons, Jeffrey of Plymouth, David Frederick (Rick) of Moretown VT and Peter of Delores, CO; two grandsons, four granddaughters and four great-grandcholdren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 22 at Church of the Good Shepard in Rangeley.

Harriet Arsenault White

AUBURN -- Harriet Arsenault White, 79, died on July 23, 2011 at the Hospice House, with her loving family by her side.

A resident of Mexico most of her life, she resided on Meadow Street.

She was born in Mexico on September 21, 1931, the daughter of Arthur and Gertrude (Stilphen) Henry Sr. She graduated from Mexico High School Class of 1950.

She was a member and held many offices in the Eastern Star including Worthy Matron. She served as a den mother for the Mexico Cub Scouts when her boys were young. She was an avid bowler at Oxford Lanes-Couples League on Friday nights. She was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Rumford. After her family was grown, she worked at Maddy’s Pizza in Mexico for a number of years.

She was married June 3, 1952 in Rumford to Reginald W. Arsenault, who died in Mexico on August 25, 2002 after having celebrated 50 years. She was married October 1, 2003 in Mexico to John C. White, who survives of Mexico.

Other survivors include children, Reginald Arsenault, Jr. and wife, Louise, Gregory Arsenault and wife, Norma, John Arsenault and wife, Carrie, all of Mexico, Mark Arsenault and wife, Rachel of Winthrop, and Woodrow Arsenault and wife, Cyndi of Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Reggie Arsenault III and Beth Arsenault of Denver, CO, Cory Arsenault and wife, Bobbi and Casey Arsenault of Mexico, Rose Arsenault of Canton, Samantha Gallant and husband, Brady of Mexico, Eric Bordeau and Daniel Bordeau of Rumford, Kristin Arsenault of Mexico, Tyler Arsenault and Alyssa Arsenault of Winthrop, Eric Arsenault and Tara Didelot and husband, Matthew of Summerville, SC; two great-granddaughters, Emma Gallant and Mattie Didelot; brother, Arthur Henry, Jr. and wife, Laura of Winthrop; special cousin, who was like a sister, Barbara Vroom of Camden; special niece, Cheryl Tibbetts and husband, Henry of Kennebunk; step-children, Richard White and wife, Mariha, and John White and friend, Denise, all of Old Orchard Beach, Randall White and wife, Susan of Wichita, KS, Allan White and wife, Patti of Levant, and Diane LeBlanc of So. Portland; step-grandchildren, Chelsea, Andrew, Jeffrey and Sarah White, Erine Grant, and Christina Label; brother-in-law, Thomas Arsenault and wife, Madeline of Mexico; sisters-in-law, Carol Johnson of Kennebunk, Charlene Greene and husband, Nathan of Florida, Donna White of Kennebunk, Janet Ellsworth of Augusta, GA; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, John Henry.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at the Farrington-0 Morton Cemetery, Mexico, with Fr. Henry Male officiating. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to The Hospice House, 236 Stetson Rd., Auburn, ME 04210 in her memory.

Jeremias S. Ferreira

ROXBURY -- Jeremias S. Ferreira, 55, died on January 5, 2011 in Roxbury where he has resided.

Born in Taunton, MA on July 20, 1955, he was a son of the late Antonio and Maria (Desousa) Ferreira. He attended schools in MA. He worked as a truck driver for DeCosters.

Survivors include two sons, Jonathan Ferreira of Rumford and Jerry Ferreira of Massachusetts; a daughter, Amy Ferreira of MA; a brother, Adam Ferreira of Roxbury; and a sister, Phoebe Ferreira of Massachusetts.

Robert Joseph Bernard

TOGUS -– Robert Joseph Bernard, 90, formerly of Penobscot Street, Rumford, died on October 28, 2011 at the Hospice unit at Togus.

He was born in Mexico on January 18, 1921, a son of John J. and Margaret Bernard. Bob was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School Class of 1940.

He served in the U.S Army during WWII and was a member of the National Guard.

Bob was employed at the Oxford Paper Co. in the rewinder department, and was a member of the 25 Year Club. He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.

Bob was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the American Legion and the Elks.

He enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage, playing cards at the Eagles, attending area football games, and was an avid reader at the library.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Togus Hospice Unit for the love and care given to Bob during his illness.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Pawlick and husband, Thaddeus of Oakland; a sister, Ann Young of Falls Church, VA; three grandchildren, Jessica Soucy and husband, Christopher, Kate Pawlick and Dresden Pawlick; and three great-grandchildren, Natalie Soucy, Abenezer Soucy and Silas Pawlick.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Theresa (O’Hearn) Bernard; five sisters, Virginia Kelly, Julia Wulff, Lorraine Dawson, Lena Louvat and Helen Henry; and three brothers, Edmund Bernard, Andrew Bernard and Anthony Bernard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parish of the Holy Savior. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Robert’s memory may be made to the VA VS Hospice Unit, Volunteer Services 135, Dept of Veteran’s Affairs, 1 VA Center Augusta, ME 04330.

Conrad “Connie” W. Hall

RUMFORD -– Conrad “Connie” W. Hall, 79, of Dixfield, died on Oct. 17, 2011 at Rumford Hospital.

He was born in Peru on Nov. 26, 1931, a son of Leonard and Esther (Pinnette) Hall. He attended Peru schools, Dirigo High School, and Stephens High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. He served in the Korean Conflict having participated in the assault and seizure of Inchon, the securing of Seoul, and participated in the Wonsan-Hungnam-Chosin campaign.

On May 14, 1955, he married Janice Hodsdon at the St. Athanasius Rectory in Rumford.

Upon his discharge from the Marine Corps, he worked as a truck driver for Stowell-MacGregor, drove a car hauler, and also worked at CMP as a first class lineman. For the next 30 years, he pursued his greatest love of trucking, working for several different companies even after his “retirement.”

Mr. Hall enjoyed dancing, especially the jitterbug with his sisters. He also was an avid reader and loved to tell stories.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janice, of Dixfield; his nine children, Nate Hall and his wife, Diane of Topsham, Joseph Hall and his wife, Becky of Peru, John Hall and his wife, Renee of Wells, Sarah Ellis and her husband, Kurt of Lewiston, Chris Hall and his wife, Linda of Peru, Dana Hall and his wife, Sherry of Dixfield, Matthew Hall of Alston, OK, Clinton Hall and his wife, Julie of Dixfield, and Jennifer Swan and her husband, Patrick of Augusta; a sister, Gloria Gallant and her husband, Ed of Portland; 25 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Rachael Walker; and a brother, George.

Danielle Elizabeth Mae “Dani” Ranger

LEWISTON -– Danielle Elizabeth Mae “Dani” Ranger, 16, a resident of Marble Lane in Dixfield, passed away on October 16, 2011 at Central Maine Medical Center as a result of an automobile accident.

She was born November 28, 1994 in Farmington, the daughter of John R. Ranger III and Tammy L. (Robbins) Ranger. Dani was a junior at Dirigo High School in Dixfield.

She was a member of the field hockey team and a junior firefighter of the Dixfield Fire Department. It had been several years since the fire department had a junior firefighter program; Dani was instrumental in reorganizing the group.

Dani was known as a young lady who had a positive attitude, faced challenges, and was an outstanding, friend, teammate, role model and firefighter. Above all else, Dani was a devoted daughter, granddaughter, niece and cousin. She is survived by her parents, John R. Ranger III of Jay and Tammy L. Ranger of Dixfield; maternal grandparents, Joanne Leighton and her husband, Elwood of Livermore Falls; and step-grandmother, Vickie Robbins of Dryden; paternal grandparents, John Ranger II and his wife, Kendalyn of Jay; Vicky Geis and her husband, Doug of East Dixfield; great-grandmother, Evangeline Hayden of Wilton; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Dale T. Robbins.

Donald Maynard Tilton

FARMINGTON –- Donald Maynard Tilton, 79, a lifelong resident of Walker Hill Road, Wilton, passed peacefully at "chore time" on Oct. 18, 2011 at Franklin Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

He was born on April 23, 1932 in Wilton, a son of Royce and Pearl (Townsend) Tilton. He was educated in Wilton schools.

On May 2, 1953, he married Jean Adams. Together, on the family farm, they raised five children. She died on April 28, 2000.

Mr. Tilton was a well-known farmer who farmed for three generations, with his father, his brother and his boys.

He enjoyed going to agricultural fairs and was a member of the New England Ox Teamsters, Maine Draft Horse and Ox Association and the Pine Tree Steer and Ox Association. He earned hundreds of ribbons and trophies over the years. A quiet, soft-spoken man, he loved his life-work, his family and friends, and most especially, his grand and great-grandchildren.

He leaves his companion, Thelma Brown of Wilton, with whom he shared many road trips throughout New England; his five children, Nancy Frost and her companion, Al Kalloch of Farmingdale, Bruce Tilton and his wife, Veronica Tilton and Peter Tilton, all of Wilton, Donna Fellman and her husband, Robert of Vienna, and Heidi Knight and her companion, Gerard Williams of Farmington; 11 grandchildren, Stephen Tilton, Amanda Robinson, Melissa Gerrish, Raymond Tilton, Jamie Badeau, Casey Tilton, Evan Fellman, Lee Fellman, Kaija Fellman, Christpher Knight and Ellen Knight; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Morse and Hannah Stanley, both of Jay; and many nieces and nephew.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by six siblings, Suzie Trask, Welcome Tilton, Edith Hill, Mabel Lane, Roy Tilton and Bertha Starbird.

Family and friends are invited to a noon to 4 p.m. memorial visitation on Sunday at the Wilton American Legion Hall. Cremation committal will be at Lakeview cemetery at 4 p.m. The Tilton family, in recognition of the wonderful nursing care he received (including oncology, medical floor and hospice), would like friends to consider giving remembrance gifts to the FMH Nursing Dept., c/o Development Office, 111 Franklin Health Commons, Farmington, ME 04938.

John P. DiConzo

RUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial for John P. DiConzo of South Paris, was celebrated on July 16, 2011 at Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius–St. John Church, with Fr. Phil Tracy as celebrant.

Altar Assistant was George Gionet. Organist was Mark Belanger.

Music selections included: “Be Not Afraid”, “Because the Lord is My Shepherd”, “Ave Maria”, and “On Eagle’s Wings”.

Readings were given by his nephew, Frank DiConzo. Eulogy was given by granddaughters, Audrey Morin and Brittany Wakefield.

Presenting the gifts were granddaughters Audrey Morin and Brittany Wakefield.

A reception followed in the Parish Hall of the church.

Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.

Jeanne Roseanne Kenney

O'FALLON, IL -- Jeanne Roseanne Kenney, nee Gionet, 67, of O’Fallon, IL, born March 10, 1944 in Rumford, Maine, passed away at her home, surrounded by her beloved family, on October 29, 2011.

Jeanne was employed by Civil Service in the Military Housing Branch for 22 years, retiring in 2008, from Scott AFB Housing Office. Prior to her civil service work, she was employed in Credit Union Management for 13 years.

Jeanne, along with her husband, was involved in various ministries at St. Clare Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Clare Seniors, Altar Sodality and was a funeral luncheon team leader. She was an ssher coordinator and also volunteered in the parish office.

Jeanne was Valedictorian at Stephens High School, Rumford, Class of 1962. She was a member of Rumford Chamber of Commerce, Lowery Organ Club, and her local Red Hat Society.

Surviving are her devoted husband, Kenneth Kenney, whom she married December 23, 1967 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rumford; her sons, Kenneth “Butch” (wife, Gretchen Szydlowski) Kenney, Jr. of Wildwood, MO, Kevin (Winnie, nee Edwards) Kenney of O’Fallon; her three grandchildren, whom she adored, Liam, Anya, and Heather Kenney; her sister-in-law, Dolores, nee Tracy, Masson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henri and Lena, nee Falardeau, Gionet; her parents-in-law, George and Harriette Kenney, and brother Ted Masson.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Shiloh, IL and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, at the church, with Rev. James Deiters presiding. Please join the family for a luncheon immediately following the Mass.

Procession will depart the church at 1:30 p.m. for Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Anita Marie Parise

RUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Anita Marie Parise was celebrated on July 6, 2011 at Parish of the Holy Savior.

Fr. Philip Tracy was the celebrant. George Gionet was the altar server. Mark Belanger was the organist. Music selections were Hosea, Because the Lord is My Shepherd, Christ Be Our Light, and Fly Like A Bird. The readings were proclaimed by Barbara Doherty. Interment was in the Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery in Augusta. A reception followed in the parish hall.

Services were under the care and guidance of SG Thibault Funeral Home, Rumford.
