Antoinette H. “Toni” Quirrion

FARMINGTON –- Antoinette H. “Toni” Quirrion, 96, of Farmington, formerly of Livermore Falls, passed peacefully on Nov. 1, 2011, at the Pierce House, Farmington, with family at her side.

She was born July 20, 1915, in Auburn, the daughter of Luc and Exilia (LeBlond) Chretien. She received her education in local schools.

On July 18, 1932, married Joseph Quirrion at St. Rose of Lima Church, Jay. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she was a mental health worker at Augusta Mental Health.

She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Jay. She was a former member of the Jay-Livermore Falls Senior Citizens and in her free time enjoyed quilting and working on craft projects.

She is survived by a son, Philip Quirrion of E. Livermore; three daughters, Joann DeBourg and her husband, Emile of Henderson, NV, Pauline Rader of Roseville, CA, and Theresa and her husband, Michael Crosson of Jay; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Quirrion; two sons, Richard and Louis Quirrion; one daughter, Donna Fontaine; a daughter-in-law, Sylvia Quirrion; and a son-in-law, Paul Rader.

Olive Rose Rein

WEST PARIS -- Olive Rose Rein, 88, passed away on Nov. 10, 2011 at Ledgeview Living Center, where she has been a resident for the past three years.

Rose’s loving and feisty nature will be missed by those who knew her. She was the kind of person who, if you told her you liked something she had, would immediately say, “You take it.” She loved people, animals, music, dancing and Jesus, not necessarily in that order.

She grew up in Avon, MA. Most of her adult years were spent in Marshfield, MA, during which time she was married to Harry Rein and worked for the U.S. Postal Service. She moved to Bethel later in life and then to Rumford.

She is survived by her only child, Gail Rein.

She was predeceased by her parents and four siblings.

A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, December 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the home of John and Wendy Williams, 431 Greenwood Rd., Norway. (stone house on the right 2.5 miles from Route 118).

Donations in her memory can be made to your local animal shelter.

Thomas A. Ricci

MEXICO -– Thomas A. Ricci, 58, of Mexico Avenue died unexpectedly on November 6, 2011 at his residence.

He was born in Rumford on March 23, 1953, a son of Michael and Cecilia (Shanahan) Ricci. Thomas attended schools in Mexico.

He was employed with Terry Bernard Construction Company for many years and was also a volunteer fireman with the Mexico Fire Department.

Thomas loved watching sports on TV and attending the mud races in Mexico.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and enjoyed spending time at the American Legion and the VFW.

Surviving are a brother, Dennis L. Gelhar of Oxford; two sisters, Margaret L. Swan of Sherman, and Shirley Schultz and husband, William of Meridian, Idaho; four nieces, Christa DeVega, Sonya Bisson, Tracy Mintz and Terri Bruce; and four nephews, Todd Swan, David Gelhar, Daniel Gelhar and Steven Gelhar.

He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Deborah Jean Ricci; and two brothers, Richard Gelhar and Michael Joseph Ricci.

Eric N. “Ric” Richard

RUMFORD –- Eric N. “Ric” Richard, 46, died on November 10, 2011 in Rumford. He was a resident of Cedar Lane in Rumford.

Born in Bridgeport, CT on January 22, 1965, he was a son of George and Eileen Richard. He graduated from Rumford High School with the Class of 1983. He was an Administrative Officer for the Rumford Police Department.

Ric was an avid musician, a trait that he got from his father and was also an avid ball player. To Steve and Nicholas, he was the dad that he didn’t have to be.

He was married in Concord Pond on June 25, 2005 to Tamera Sorensen, who survives of Rumford.

Other survivors include his two sons, Steven Smith of Rumford and CPL Nicholas Smith, U.S. Marine Corps, and his wife, Megan of Rumford; his parents, George and Eileen Richard of Peru, Neil and Susan Sorensen of Peru and Marilyn Sorensen in Heaven; brothers, Mark D. Richard of Rumford, Neil F. Sorensen of Rumford, Scotty Blaisdell of Dixfield and Todd Greig of Peru; sisters, Tracy Blasidell of Dixfield, Tricia Greig of Peru, Heather Sorensen of Rumford; his longest best friend, Randy DeRoche; and his large extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Parish of The Holy Savior St. Athanasius–St. John Church. Friends are invited to call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford. Those who desire may contribute to Comforts From Home, c/o American Legion Auxiliary, 184 Congress St., Rumford, ME 04276 in his memory.

James E. Pelletier

AUBURN -- James E. Pelletier, 53, of Wood Street, Lewiston, formerly of Spruce Struce in Rumford, died unexpectedly on March 12, 2011 at the Hospice House with his wife Susan at his side.

He was born in Lewiston on October 17, 1957 a son of Joseph G.A. and Muriel M. (Cloutier) Pelletier. Jim was educated in Lewiston and Lisbon schools.

He was employed for many years as a taxi driver in the Lewiston area and prior to this he was employed with Knapp Shoe Co. Jim was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and Holy Family Catholic Church.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1248 in Rumford, the Beacon House, and the Pine Street Club. Jim enjoyed listening to music, watching wrestling and playing pool.

Surviving are his wife, Susan Pelletier of Lewiston; a sister, Paula Marie Libby of Lewiston; five brothers, John Pelletier and wife, Jolene of Lewiston, Michael Pelletier and wife, Doris of Auburn, Robert Pelletier and Joseph G.A. Pelletier, Jr. both of Lisbon, and Daniel Pelletier and wife, Judy of Lewiston; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, David Pelletier.

Lisa M. Buckman

BETHEL -- Lisa Marie Buckman, 43, of Bethel, passed peacefully with her loving family at her side on May 23, 2011 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer for more than six years.

She was born in South Kingston, RI on September 14, 1967, the daughter of George Randall and Beverly Jean Hopkins Standeven. She graduated from high school and attained her Certified Nurse’s Aide training.

She married Nate Buckman on April 26, 1997.

She had been employed as a Certified Nurse’s Aide and could relate to those helping her during her fight. She was a very very loving mother and loved spending time with her family. She loved getting Dunkin Donuts coffee and driving her loop.

She is survived by her husband of Bethel; her sons, Mathew Gordon and Alex Crockett; her daughter, Shylyn Buckman; her granddaughter, Jaelynn; her siblings, Randy and Sandy Standeven, Ken and Millie Standeven, Brenda and Marshall Fleet, Cindy and John Desmarais, Doug and Sue Standeven, Judy and Clay Gould and Tammy Standeven; her in-laws, Susie and Bud Buckman; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Beverly Standeven; her brother, Larry Standeven; and her brother-in-law, Alan Buckman, Jr.

Edward F. Daigle

NORWAY -- Edward F. Daigle, 86, formerly of Backkingdom Road in Mexico, died on August 22, 2011 at Stephen’s Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born in Rumford on May 23, 1925, a son of Anthony and Amy (Hickey) Daigle. Ed was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School.

Following graduation, he moved to Minnesota and attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Marines during WW II from 1943 to 1945 with the 1st Division, having fought during the Gilbert Island, Marshall Island and Marianas Island Operations.

After the service, he was employed with Boeing in Santa Monica, CA for several years. He moved back to Rumford in the early 1950’s.

Edward and his brother, Joseph were the owners of Daigle’s Auto Body Repair Shop on Hancock Street in Rumford for over 25 years. After selling the business, he was employed as an insurance adjuster.

He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior. Ed was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Elks, Eagles, and the Le Parasseux Snowshoe Club.

He enjoyed singing and was once a contestant on the Ted Max Show in Milwaukee. He also enjoyed taking pictures and hunting.

Ed is survived by his three children, Cheryl Black of Rutland, VT, Mark Daigle of Mexico and Jody Mayo of Concord, VA: five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Beatrice (Chaisson) Daigle; two sisters, Pauline Young and Annie Theberge; and two brothers, Joseph and Raymond Daigle.

Myrna Rankin

FARMINGTON, NM -- Myrna Rankin, 73, of Farmington, NM, passed away on April 16, 2013.

She was born Myrna Mae Donahue in Rumford on December 9, 1939.

Myrna served honorably in the Army as a secretary at Pentagon. She retired as assistant manager of Animas Credit Union in 2000 after 25 years of service.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Delbert “Mack” Rankin of Farmington; children, Kelli McBrayer (Gary) of Lake Jackson, TX, Andrea Pantle (Denis) of Bulverde, TX and Stephen Hensley of Lompoc, CA; grandchildren, Chantae Carey, Benjamin Carey, Kevin McBrayer and Shaula Hensley; and her aunt, Alice Rumley of Rumford.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Mabel Donahue, and grandson Robert McBrayer.

Wayne Allen Thibeault

SOUTH PORTLAND -- Wayne Allen Thibeault, 61, of South Portland passed away on April 8, 2013 at his residence.

He was born in Rumford on March 8, 1952 to Joseph E. Thibeault Sr. and Dorothy Daigle Thibeault Charznowski. He attended schools in Mexico and later graduated from Shelton High School in Connecticut. He also attended Waterbury Technical College.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1972-78.

He is survived by a brother, Joseph (Carol) Thibeault of Mexico; sisters, Gail (David) Boboc of Naugatuck, CT and Evangeline Andrews of Kissimee, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Gary; and two sisters, Joanne Holt and Janet Bernard.

Buriel services will be held at a later date.

Anna May Buotte

RUMFORD -- Anna May Buotte, 85, a resident of the Rumford Community Home for many years, passed away on April 10, 2013 with her angels all around her.

Anna May was born on Feb. 25, 1928 in Mexico, daughter of Frank J. and Mary Ann (Peters) Buotte.

She was a devoted Catholic who used to walk to St. Theresa's Church everyday on her crutches. Anna did many Rosary daily for family and friends. Her smile was the light of her faith to those who knew her.

Anna May made many trips to St. Anns Shrine in Canada, and several bus tours to Worcester, MA to celebrate healing services with Father Darieo.

Anna May is survived by a niece, Linda Buotte Robinson of Auburndale, FL; a nephew, Michael Buotte of Connecticut; many cousins, including Delia Gervais of Waldofared, who never forgot any occasion during her long stay at the nursing home.

Longtime friends Gloria Barnett, Rose Ann Ross and Nancy Martineau were like family and loved Anna very much.

Anna May was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Mary Anne; brothers, Alfred, Melvin, Gerard (Speed) and Nelson; and sisters, Dorothy and Celina Buotte Quigley.

Gloria extends heartfelt appreciation to Roseann, Nancy and Co Co Gurney for all the little extra they did for Anne; a lifetime friend, Lorraine Berry; Androscoggin Home Health (Hospice) nurses; CNA, staff members of the home for all their kindness and love showed to Anna in their care.

Anna May loved you all and now she is your angel watching over all of you from her new home, heaven.

Mass and burial in May will be announced at a later date.

Lucy Barbara (Salatino) Day

RUMFORD -- Lucy Barbara (Salatino) Day, 71, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 16, 2013. She was a resident of South Backfield Road in Rumford.

Born in Rumford on January 25, 1942, she was a daughter of Vito and Teresa (Papasadora) Salatino. She was raised in the Roman Catholic Faith and was a graduate of Stephens High School in Rumford. She worked at the Rumford Hospital as a nurse’s aide.

Lucy enjoyed socializing with her many friends and relatives. She belonged to many organizations including St. Timothy Circle #504 Daughters of Isabella, Gorizia Lodge #467, Sons of Italy, American Legion Auxiliary, Red Hats and others. She enjoyed bowling, crafting, cooking and family gatherings. She was very proud of her two sons graduating from the college of their choice.

She was married in Rumford on February 13, 1965 to Richard Day, who survives of Rumford.

Other survivors include two sons, Steven and his wife, Sarah, and their daughter, Carolyn of Wolfeboro, NH, David and his wife, Kelly of Westbrook; brothers, Rocco Salatino and his wife, Julietta of Rumford, Joseph Salatino of Auburn, James Salatino and his wife, Betty of Dixfield, Vito Salatino and his wife, Mary of Naples, FL; sisters, Julia Salatino of Rumford, JoAnne Salatino of Canton; daughter-in-law, Betty Salatino of Rumford; and a brother-in-law, Richard Austin of Rumford; and many relatives out of state.

She was predeceased by her parents, Vito and Teresa Salatino; a brother, Francis; sisters, Pauline Salatino, Annette Austin and Mary Gaudet.

The family would like to thank the Rumford Community Home and the Beacon House Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion. For the many friends that visited Lucy in her final years we say "thank you."
