RUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Carol T. MacKinnon of Rumford, was celebrated at noon on June 15, 2012 at Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius–St. John Church, with Fr. Alfred Jacques as celebrant.

Altar Assistant was Bernard Poirier. Organist was Mark Belanger.

Music selections were Danny Boy, The Old Rugged Cross, Mother at thy Feet in Kneeling, Wind Beneath my Wings, Be Not Afraid, and Amazing Grace.

Readings were given by Barbara Doherty.

Pall Bearers were T.J. Kenney, Kelsi Kenney, Tim Kelley, Beverly Pounder, Mike LaPointe and John MacKinnon.

Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.

Joseph A. “Tony” Poirier

RUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Joseph A. “Tony” Poirier was celebrated on June 14, 2012 at Parish of the Holy Savior.

Fr. Alfred Jacques was the celebrant. Jacob Beauchesne was the altar server.

Knights of Columbus 4th Degree members serving as Honor Guard during the mass were Commander Dane Curato, Nicholas Puiia III, and Rodney Kuhl.

Mark Belanger was the organist accompanied by the choir. Music selections were, Prayer of St. Francis sung by Tony’s wife Lillian, Be Not Afraid, Hosea, and Fly Like a Bird. The Old Testament was proclaimed by his daughter Connie Venskus.

The New Testament was proclaimed by his grandson Aaron Venskus. The Responsorial Psalm was the 23rd Psalm. Prayer of the Faithful was proclaimed by his daughter Connie Venskus. Gift bearers were his sister Yvette Gallant and his brother Joseph Poirier. Personal reflections were shared by his son Dick Poirier.

Pallbearers were Aaron Venskus, Mike Stickney, Eliot Poirier, Bob Stickney, Ian Venskus, Jason Poirier, and Ben Venskus. Military Honors were rendered by the Maine Funeral Honor Guard.

A reception followed at 49 Franklin. Interment was in the New Maine Veterans cemetery Mt. Vernon Road on June 15, 2012.

Services were under the care and guidance of SG Thibault Funeral Home, Rumford.

Richard L. “Pa” Welch

RUMFORD -- A Funeral Service honoring the life of Richard L. “Pa” Welch was held on July 13, 2012 at SG Thibault Funeral Home.

Rev. Linda Kimball officiated. Music selections were Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross and Just a Closer Walk With Thee.

The poem entitled “The Dash” was read by son-in-law, David Briggs. Personal reflections written by family members were read by Richie Philbrick.

Honorary pallbearers were Steve Gallant, Dave Fitzpatrick, Albert Bradley, Richard Cormier, Richie Philbrick, and Robert Driscoll.

Prior to the service, visitation was by the Snowshoe Club, The Elks, and the Rumford and Mexico Fire Departments.

Burial will be at a later date in West Ellis cemetery in Rumford.

Services were under the care and guidance of SG Thibault Funeral Home, Rumford.

Harold “Okie” Jones

CANTON -- Graveside services for Harold “Okie” Jones of Canton were conducted on August 14, 2012 at the Pine Grove Cemetery, with Pastor Steve Brownell officiating.

The 23rd Psalm and opening prayer was given by a good friend, Fred Hellenberg.

Words of remembrance were given by his step-son, Scott Kilbreth.

The poem “For My Okie” was read by step-granddaughter, Libby Irish.

A reception followed at the Canton Community Building.

Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.

Arthur J. Ladd, Jr.

HANOVER -- Graveside services for Arthur J. Ladd, Jr. of Rumford, were conducted on July 28, 2012 at the Hanover Cemetery, with Pastor Larry Shaw officiating.

Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.

Ira Augustus Gammon, Jr.

WEST PERU -- Graveside Services for Ira Augustus Gammon, Jr., of Dixfield were conducted on July 2, 2012 at the Demerritt Cemetery, with Pastor Kenneth

Wagstaff officiating.

Words of remembrance were given by Bonnie Fitch.

Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.

John Belanger, Jr.

RUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of John Belanger, Jr. was celebrated on June 15, 2012 at Parish of the Holy Savior.

Fr. Alfred Jacques was the celebrant. Bernard Poirier was the altar server. Mark Belanger was the organist.

Offertory gifts were presented by great-grandchildren Alex and Mariah Witas. Readings were proclaimed by Barbara Doherty. Personal reflections were shared by granddaughter Christine Murphy. Music selections were Hosea, Because the Lord is My Shepherd, Valley’s of Green and Fly Like A Bird.

Interment was in St. John Cemetery.

Services were under the care and guidance of SG Thibault Funeral Home, Rumford.

Frances Ruth Kersey

RUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Frances Ruth Kersey of Rumford was celebrated on July 7, 2012 at Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church, with Fr. Phil Tracy as celebrant and Fr. Raymond Carignan as concelebrant.

Organist was Mark Belanger. Altar Assistant was Bernard Poirier.

Music selections were Amazing Grace, Ave Maria, The Old Rugged Cross, and In The Garden.

Readings were given by granddaughters, Brooke Kersey and Kelly Sastamoine. Eulogy was given by God Daughter Linda Jo Ferris and granddaughter Lori Fakler. Gift Presenters were her sons, Pat, Michael, and Leo Kersey, III.

Honorary delegation present was from St. Timothy Circle #504, Daughters of Isabella.

Committal services were conducted by Fr. Phil Tracy at St. John Cemetery, Rumford.

A reception followed the services at 49 Franklin St., Rumford.

Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.

Kenneth (Ken) Hayden Adams

LEWISTON -- Kenneth (Ken) Hayden Adams, 63, of Lewiston, passed away on August 12, 2012, surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 6, 1948 to J. Wesley and Marie Adams.

Ken was a very proud and devoted grandfather of two: Alexandria Cecilia (Ceci) Adams and Matthew Hayden Adams. He shared his love of animals with his grandchildren and encouraged them to pursue their passions. Ken never forgot a birthday or holiday and would surprise his grandkids with care packages from Maine. His son Erik and daughter-in-law Roseann will miss him dearly and wish that the distance between California and Maine was not so great that they could have spent more time with their father.

Ken was a Vietnam veteran and served in the US Air Force. Following his military service, he became an expert in automobile repair and restoration - his preference being Corvettes. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was an avid lover of all animals, especially wildlife.

He enjoyed working with his nephew, Travis on Travis’s race car at Oxford Plains Speedway. He also spent quality time with his nephew, Tyler providing encouragement and nurturing that is a part of Tyler’s success as a Corporal in the U.S Marine Corps.

Ken is survived by his father, J. Wesley Adams of Auburn; son, Erik Hayden and his wife, Roseann of Irvine, CA; grandchildren, Ceci and Matthew of Irvine, CA; sisters, Marianne Snow of New Gloucester, and Kay and her husband, Russ Doucette of Scarborough; sister-in-law, Connie Adams of Canton; nephews, Travis Adams, his wife, Becky and their sons, Austin and Brayden of Canton, and Corporal Tyler Snow, Cherry Point, NC; niece, Erica Snow of New Gloucester; longtime beloved companion, Sara Therriault of Auburn; and many friends.

Ken is predeceased by his mother, Marie Adams and brother, Don Adams.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 7 at Dillingham & Son Funeral Memorial Chapel, 62 Spring St., Auburn. Memorial services honoring Ken's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 8 at the Dillingham & Son Funeral Memorial Chapel. Committal with military honors to follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken's memory to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society 55 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, ME 04240.

Edith A. Preston

FARMINGTON -- Edith A. Preston, 89, of Jay passed peacefully on June 12, 2012, at Sandy River Center for Health Care and Rehabilitation.

She was born Feb. 9, 1923 in Livermore Falls, a daughter of Ozem and Hattie (MacKay) Wagner. She was raised on the family farm in East Livermore and received her education in East Livermore and Livermore Falls schools.

On Nov. 2, 1941, she married Roger S. Preston at the Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church in Livermore Falls. During the war, she resided in Wilton and following her marriage, she lived in Jay.

She was employed at the Wilton Woolen Mill, retired in 1971 as the supervisor of the cafeteria for the Jay schools and worked on Project Independence (Senior Transportation Assistance Program) in Wilton.

A woman of strong faith, Edith was a member of the Jay Baptist Church and was an active member of the Ladies Aid.

Always devoted to her family, she enjoyed many family outings at Camp "Didju" in Temple, and was often in the company of her much beloved sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Montress Roy and her husband, Ronald of Jay; two grandsons, Tom Roy and his girlfriend, Julie Imbruno, and her children, who were special to "Nana," Nathan and Nora; and, Russell Roy and his wife, Rebecca of Jay; one great-grandson, Connor Roy of Jay; one sister, Doris

Chandler of Jay; and one brother-in-law, Lawrence "Rusty" Lee of Weld; several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and her companion of the last seven years, Conrad "Hutch" Hutchinson of Canton Mountain.

Edith was predeceased by her husband 55 years, Roger S. Preston, who died on May 13, 1997; her siblings, Howard, Josh, Wilfred, Clarence, and Arthur "Bud" Wagner; Carrie Conrad, Lottie Greenleaf, Ruth Warren, Arlene Karkos and Donna Lee.

Edith's family would like to express great gratitude to Androscoggin Home Health for helping her stay in her home for the past two years, along with her special nurse Kristy Brochu. A special thank you to Sandy River Nursing Center for wonderful care during the last month of her life. Special thanks to her dear neighbors and friends, John and Arlene Cornelio, for always being there for her.

Joseph E. St. Pierre

RUMFORD -- A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Joseph E. St. Pierre was celebrated on Feb. 23, 2012 at Parish of the Holy Savior.

Fr. James Martel was the principal celebrant. Fr. Philip Tracy concelebrated. The altar server was Bernie Poirier.

The readings were proclaimed by Jason Guest. Offertory gifts were presented by the grandchildren Jenna Guest, Nicole Matson, Kristen Arsenault, Erica St. Pierre, Rebecca Boudreau, Rachel Boudreau, Lindsay McKeen and Colette McKeen. Personal reflections were shared by Andre St. Pierre.

The organist was Mark Belanger accompanied by the choir. Music selections were You Will Always Be A Child In My Eyes, Precious Lord Take My Hand, The Old Rugged Cross, and J’irai la voir un jour.

Pallbearers were Kendall Boudreau, Evan Belanger, Jason Guest, Ryan Arsenault, Thomas Matson and Shane Morales.

Military Honors were rendered by the Maine Military Funeral Honor Guard. Taps was played by Evan Belanger. A reception followed in the parish hall.

Services were under the care and guidance of SG Thibault Funeral Home, Rumford.

E. Harvey Manson, Jr.

RUMFORD -- Graveside services for E. Harvey Manson, Jr. of Peru was conducted on May 23, 2012 at St. John Cemetery, with David Blouin officiating.

Military Honors were given by the Maine Military Funeral Honors Program from Augusta.

Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, Rumford.

Marie Patricia "Pat" Hughes Ruff

LEWISTON -- Marie Patricia "Pat" Hughes Ruff, 86, of Canton passed away on May 31, 2012 at Marshwood's in Lewiston, with her friends, Mary and Brad, at her side.

She was born on June 7, 1924 in Chicago, IL, daughter of Francis and Marie Conway.

Pat married Dr. John Paul Hughes. They had many happy years together until his untimely death. In her later years, she married George Ruff of Rumford.

Pat had a full and wonderful life. She worked as a travel agent. She loved to dance, draw pictures, meet new friends as well as travel the world. She also was a history buff. She had great faith; her words of faith were "God will Provide."

Her caregiver, Faye Cureton, was like a daughter to her. They were together until Faye's untimely death in the sping of 2012.

Pat leaves behind a sister, Franny Conway of California; a sister-in-law, Anne Hughes of New York; and a special friend, Margie Vatteau of New York.

She was predeceased by her first husband, John Hughes; her second husband, George Ruff; and her parents, Marie and Francis Conway.

Pat will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
