Kennebunk- Doris H. Warren 87 yrs a resident of Warrens Way, West Kennebunk died Thursday December 11, 2003 at her home after a long illness.

She was born in North Kennebunkport, ME (now Arundel) on March 24, 1916 a daughter of Ashton R. and Marion (Cotton) Hoyt. She graduated from Kennebunk High School.

Doris was employed by the former Kesslen Shoe Company of Kennebunk for over 38 yrs as a bookkeeper.

She was a past Matron of Madonna Chapter, Order of Eastern Star of Kennebunk and also was a member of the Mousam Saddle and Harness Club of Kennebunk. She was a member of the Society for the Preservation of Ballroom Dancing.

Doris enjoyed dancing, horseback riding, nature,watching birds and wildflowers, reading, snowmobiling, camping, crossword puzzles, music, painting, and knitting.

She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Forrest “Tick” Conrad Warren, who died in 1997.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Monday December 15,2003 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk where a funeral will be held at
11 AM, December 16, 2003 with the Reverend Stephen Hastings officiating. Interment will be in Hope cemetery in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southern Maine Health and Homecare Services, Route 1, Kennebunk, Maine 04043.

Doris Shoesmith

Doris C. Shoesmith, 92 years, a homemaker and resident of Huntington Commons, died on Sunday January 19, 2003.

Mrs. Shoesmith was born June 13, 1910 in Lawrence, MA to the late Frank and Jennie (Hayes) Waterworth. She graduated from Methuen, MA High School in 1928 and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Lawrence. She resided in Sanford, ME from 1934 to 1955 and in Clarksville, VA from 1955 to 1994 when she and Thomas W. Shoesmith, her husband of 73 years, moved to Kennebunk, ME. Mrs. Shoesmith also had a residence at Wells Beach, ME where she summered for over 50 years.

She was a former member of the Riding Club in Sanford and volunteered as a Gray Lady at Goodall Hospital. In addition to playing golf and bridge, Mrs. Shoesmith enjoyed handcrafts such as knitting, sewing, rug-making and crocheting. She especially excelled in needlepointing pictures, which are displayed as framed wall hangings.

Mrs. Shoesmith is the mother of the late Margary S. Hansen of Kennebunkport, ME and Stuart, FL. She is survived by her husband Thomas, a daughter Constance S. Deck of Metairie, LA, four grandchildren Harold R. Hansen, Jr. of Tewksbury, MA, Thomas S. Hansen of Houston, TX, Jon P. Hansen of Kennebunk and Elizabeth H. Tracy of Woodbury, MN and seven great grandchildren.

There will be no visiting hours. A private graveside service held at Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk. The family requests that flowers be omitted. A memorial contribution may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 35 Jackson Street, Lawrence, MA 01840. Arrangements by Bibber memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME 04043.

Dorothy D. Record

Kennebunk- Dorothy D. Record 89 yrs, a resident of Kennebunk formerly of Belleville, NJ died Saturday March 29, 2003 at the Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford, Maine after a brief illness.

Dorothy was born in Bronx, New York City, New York on October 28, 1913 a daughter of Peter and Nellie Mattia Marchesani and attended schools there.
She and her late husband moved to Maine in 1972 from Belleville, NJ. She was a homemaker, enjoying cooking, dancing, movies and spending time with her family

She was predeceased by her husband Clayton Record who died in 1982 and her three brothers Vincent, Michael, Alfred Marchesani.

Mrs. Record is survived by her three sons Albert Record of Highland Park, NJ, Clayton Record Jr., of Kennebunk, Roland Record of Bloomfield. NJ and a daughter Shirley Duva of Kennebunk a brother Albert Marchesani of Toms River, NJ and three sisters Phyllis Comey of South Carolina, Gloria Tierney and Esther Sicignand both of Toms River, NJ and 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and also several nieces and nephews survived her.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 PM Monday March 31, 2003 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk. and visiting hours from 2- 4 and 7- 9 PM Wednesday April 2, 2003 at the Levandoski Funeral Home 44 Bay Street Bloomfield, New Jersey where a funeral will be held at 11 AM Thursday . Internment will be in Bloomfield Cemetery, Bloomfield, NJ.

ARUNDEL - Dorothy E.(Lunt) Paquet, 84, of Arundel, on February 18, 2003 at a Biddeford area nursing home.

Dorothy was born in Biddeford, Me. and lived her entire life in Arundel, Me. on the family farm with the exception of the last few years. She farmed and grew vegetables and flowers. People from miles around would stop and comment on her beautiful flower gardens.

Dorothy is survived by her husband John; her daughter Phyllis Macdonald and husband James of Lyman, ME; two grandsons and families, Scot Macdonald and his wife Kristeen of Plymouth, MA and Jeffrey Macdonald and his friend Peggy Sands, her daughter Stephenie of Lyman, ME; and two great grandchildren Nicholas and Victoria Macdonald of Plymouth, Ma.

There will be a private graveside service held at the convenience of the family in the spring. Donations can be made in her memory to the West Kennebunk Animal Shelter,
West Kennebunk, Me. The family has requested that no flowers be sent.

Dr. Bruce Nelson

CAPE PORPOISE, ME – Dr. Bruce Kinloch Nelson, 83, of Langsford Road, died on Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, ME.

Dr. Nelson was born on December 25, 1919, in Christiansburg, VA, a son of the Rev. Mr. Robert Burwell Nelson and his wife Sally Bruce (Seddon) Nelson. He graduated from the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA. He attended the University of Virginia where he received degrees in Mechanical, Aeronautical and Electrical Engineering. He also received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York and was a member of the American Academy of Sciences.

He was a long time resident of Concord, MA. Dr. Nelson and his wife spent their summers in Cape Porpoise, ME beginning in 1984 and moved there permanently in 1995.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Moore Nelson of Cape Porpoise; a son B. Kinloch Nelson, Jr. of Rochester, NY; a daughter Beverly Burwell (Nelson) Elder of Cusco, Peru; and two grandchildren, Rosalie Alyria Elder and Marco Fabio Elder.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Edris A. Fall

Edris A. Fall, 97, of Pine Hill Road, died on Monday, March 17, 2003 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.

She was born on August 9, 1905 in Sackzille, New Brunswick, Canada, a daughter of George and Bertha (Dorey) Pond. Her mother passed away when she was a young girl and came to live in Berwick when she was adopted by Everett Yeats and resided here for the remainder of her life. She attended Berwick schools and graduated from Sullivan High School in Berwick in 1925.

Mrs. Fall worked for Somersworth Shoe where she performed clerical tasks for the company. She worked until she was 69 and remained active and lived alone until her death.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and enjoyed writing letters to her family and friends. People often joked she kept the post office in business. She played the piano, did needlepoint and loved her cats and was very proud of her family.

She is predeceased by her husband Chesley Fall and a daughter Lorraine Stanley.

Mrs. Fall is survived by a daughter Margaret C. Burgess of Berwick, ME; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

An hour of visitation will be held at 10 AM on Friday March 21, 2003 followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick, ME, with the Rev. Peggy Dunn officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick, ME.

Edwin V. George

Edwin V. George, 84 years, a resident of Berry St. Berwick died Friday April 11, at the Sanford Health Care Facility in Sanford after a lengthy illness. He was the widower of Gertrude (Eccelston) George who died in 2000.

Mr. George was born in New Bedford, MA. Sept 2, 1918 a son of Manuel and Emma Vital George and grew up in the Town of Fairhaven, MA. He was a graduate of Fairhaven High School and the New Bedford Textile School in New Bedford, MA. He served in the US Navy during World War 11 as a Motor Machinist Mate. Following the war he became employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a Management Analyst. He was employed by SEACORE.

Mr. George was a member of the United Methodist Church of Berwick. An Active mason being a member and Past Master of St. Johns Lodge #51 A.F. & A.M. of South Berwick. A member of all Scottish rite Bodies and a member of the Maine Consistory Valley of Portland 32, a member of Kora Shrine of Lewiston and a member of the York County Shrine Club. He also served as Past Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Maine. He was a member of the VFW post 10989 and the Charles S. Hatch Post # 79 American Legion of Berwick.

He was predeceased by his wife Gertrude George and one sister Helen Rodigues.

He is survived by two daughters Mrs. Keith (Leslie) Hunt of Monmouth, Maine and Mrs. Paula Bandouveres of Florence, MA and four grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester St. Berwick

Wednesday April 16 from 11 to 12 AM followed by Masonic memorial service at 12 noon. The funeral service will commence following the Masonic service with the Rev. Dr. Peggy Dunn officiating. Interment in Evergreen cemetery Berwick.

Should friends desire memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 02215 in Mr. George’s memory.

Elizabeth C. Cutting

WELLS – Elizabeth Catherine Cutting, 17, of Bragdon Road in Wells, ME, died unexpectedly on Sunday February 9, 2003 at York Hospital.

Elizabeth was born on September 22, 1985, a daughter of Michael Robert and Angelita Delgado Cutting. She was currently a senior at Wells High School.

She was an accomplished guitarist and songwriter often performing for WMPG, a radio station in Portland. She was very involved in school belonging to the track team, drama club, and the chorus and used to be a member of the band. Elizabeth also volunteered with young children at the junior high school. She also belonged to the Seacoast Outright, Inc. in Portsmouth.

Elizabeth is survived by her parents, of Wells; two sisters, Patricia Dustin and her husband Kenneth of Yarmouth, ME, and Victoria Cutting of Wells; her maternal grandmother Anita Delgado of Victoria, TX; her paternal grandparents David and Lorraine Jette of Portsmouth, NH; many aunts and uncles; many cousins and great cousins; and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Wells Harbor Community Park, at the end of Harbor Road, Wells at 2:30 PM on Friday, February 14, 2003. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Crisis Support Intervention, P.O. Box 1010, Saco, ME 04072. Arrangements by Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, ME.

Elizabeth Etta Thompson

Kennebunk- Elizabeth Etta Thompson, 81, of North Conway , NH and Temple Street, Kennebunkport, died August 23, 2003 at the Kennebunk Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was born in North Conway, NH, a daughter of Phillip and Elizabeth Hunt and attended schools there, graduating from Kennett High School in 1941.
Elizabeth married Fred Thompson June 26, 1957 and they lived in New Hampshire until moving to Kennebunkport, Maine.
Elizabeth loved flying and took many lessons. After Fred’s death in 1982, Elizabeth started what would become a renowned stuffed animal collection.
She is survived by many loving cousins and dear friends who will miss her dry humor and her kind, gentle way.
A graveside service will be held at Evergreen cemetery on October 8th at 11 am with Rev. Charles Whiston officiating.

Elizabeth Hazel Conway of Kennebunk died at the age of 87 on Monday December 1, 2003 at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.
She was born in Red Oak, Virginia on November 6, 1916 the daughter of Elgin F. and Willie Katherine (Stembridge) Pool.

Elizabeth was a lover of animals, baseball, and reading, watching the ocean and of simple things in life.

She is survived by her husband of 58 yrs, Joseph Conway, her three children, Susan Rouillard, Robert and William Conway, a sister Geneva Lee Lichliter, five grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.

Memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM Friday December 5th at the St. Martha’s Church Portland Road Kennebunk, Me with the Reverend Laurent Laplante officiating.

Ellen G. Wyman 81 yrs a resident of Oak Tree Lane, Louisville, KY formerly of Berwick, Me died Sunday June 8,2003 at her home. She was the widow of Thomas N. Wyman who died in 2000.

Mrs. Wyman was born in Berwick, ME on July 27,1921 a daughter of Clement and Grace E. (Brown) Ham. She attended Berwick schools and graduated from Berwick High School.

Mrs. Wyman was a shoe-worker in Somersworth, NH for many years retiring in 1986.
She was an active member of several organizations in Berwick. A member and past worthy matron of Sarah Orne Jewett Chapter Order of Eastern Star, a Princess of Arok Temple #94, Daughters of Nile, an active member of the Berwick Methodist Church also with the Gleaners of the Church, Berwick Cub Scout Pack 313, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 0079 of Berwick.

She is survived by her son Clement T. “Clem” Wyman of Louisville, KY. Two grandchildren Crystal Kapp of Dover, NH. and Arielle Wyman of Lexington, KY. also survive.

Friends may call at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester St. Berwick, ME Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service Friday at 11 Am from the Berwick Methodist Church, with the Rev. Peggy Dunn officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick.
