Ernest Raymond Ricker Jr. 81 years, a resident of Pine Hill Road, Berwick died Tuesday August 12, 2003 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover, NH, after a brief illness.
Mr. Ricker was born in Berwick, ME on January 22, 1922 a son of Ernest R. and Elizabeth Morrill Ricker Sr. He graduated from Berwick High School and the University of New Hampshire in B.S.
He served in the United States Army in WWII in the South Pacific.
After the war, he worked with his father in the construction business. He later became a schoolteacher for Spaulding High School. in Rochester NH teaching physics for twenty years before retiring in 1983.
He was avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with his family and he also enjoyed mountain climbing.

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother George ‘Buddy’ Ricker and a sister Katherine McAllister.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Florence Davis Ricker of Berwick, two sons Gary R. Ricker of Berwick and David J. Ricker of Somersworth, NH, a daughter Janet Weinstein of New Hartford, New York, a sister Martha Phillips of Conway, NH and two grandchildren, Haley Dixon of Berwick and Katherine Ricker of Somersworth, NH.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM Thursday August 14, 2003 at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel 36 Rochester Street Berwick, Me where funeral service will be held 10 AM Friday. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick, ME.

Eva M. Goff

North Berwick, ME - Eva M. Goff 89 yrs a resident of Madison Street, North Berwick formerly of Rochester and Dover, NH died Sunday August 3, 2003 at her home after brief illness.

She was born in Sanford, Maine on December 14, 1913 a daughter of Thomas and Edna (Chislom) Labby and graduated from Spaulding High School in Rochester, NH.

Mrs. Goff was an Stitching Room Forman for Continental Shoe of Portsmouth and also worked Tiara Footwear of Dover for many years. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Church of Somersworth, NH.
She enjoyed crafts, played the computer and spending time with her family.

She is predeceased by her husband John W. Goff Sr. who died in 1994, a grandson Darrell W. Goff who died in 1958, a brother William Labby, and six sisters, Ruth Randall, Ruby Hughes, Laura Pierce, Vena Libby, Janice St. Laurent and Muriel Merrill.

Mrs. Goff is survived by her son John W. Goff and his wife Doris of Somersworth, NH,
A brother Raymond Libby of Newburyport, MA, a sister in law Corrine Goff of Sanford, ME. Four grandchildren J. Wayne Goff and his wife Joyce of North Berwick, ME, Kevin M. Goff and his wife Laurie of Lee, NH, Sharon M. Goff Veno of Berwick and Steve D. Goff of Somersworth, NH., five great grandchildren Christopher M. Goff and his fiancée Allison Batchelor, John J.W. Goff and his girlfriend Alicia Finnegan all of North Berwick, ME., Shannan E. Goff and Katie L. Goff both of Lee, NH., Amanda J. Goff of Titus, Alabama and two great-grandchildren Aiden A. Goff and Lauren I. Goff both of North Berwick, ME.

Family and friends may call from 9 to 10 AM Wednesday August 6, 2003 at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel 36 Rochester Street Berwick, ME. Following a Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM at the Holy Trinity Church, Somersworth, NH with the Reverend Thomas Coover officiating. Interment will be in Mt.Calvaire Cemetery, Somersworth, NH.

Evelyn Sara Knight, 96, a resident of Ocean Ave, Kennebunkport died Sunday August 3, 2003 at the Kennebunk Nursing Center after a brief illness.

Mrs. Knight was born in Norwood, MA on March 13, 1907 a daughter of Obediah P and Alfreda A. (Peterson) Keddy. She attended Norwood Schools and graduated from Norwood High School the class of 1925. In 1929 she received her nursing degree from Newton-Wellesley school of Nursing and worked at Newton-Wellesley Hospital until 1933, when she married to Paul R. Knight.

Evelyn enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and reading.

She was predeceased by her husband who died 1965.

She is survived by her son Paul R. Knight and his wife Doris of Kennebunkport, ME and a grandson Roger L. Knight of Kennebunkport. ME.

Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 PM Monday August 4,2003 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk, ME.
A Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM August 5, 2003at Highland Cemetery, Winter Street, Norwood, MA.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the Kennebunkport Emergency Medical Services P.O. Box 460B Kennebunkport, Me 04046 in Mrs. Knight’s memory.

Alberta M. Wentworth

Alberta M. Wentworth, 97 years, a resident of Wells Highlands, Wells died Saturday evening February 21, 2004 at her granddaughter’s home in Wells after a brief illness.
Alberta was born in Ashland, NH on Sept 28, 1906 a daughter of Harry Mudgett and Anna Marie (Shaw) Porter. She graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington,MA. and attended Harvard College in Cambridge, MA. During the summer time, she worked at the Recreational Program, also coaching Basketball at the Middle School in Arlington for several years. Later she ran the Citywide Physical education Program in Malden and Somerville area for several years. She also went to Sargent College to get her degree in Physical Education.
In the early 1940’s She moved to Wells and ran the Grocery Store on Route one (where the police station is now located) for several years. She started the nursery school along with the Wentworth Cabins that she owned and operated for seven years. She worked for the Portland Press Herald as Reporter and Photographer for many years.
In 1959, she was elected to become the Town Clerk of Wells where she served from 1959 to 1978. She also served as Selectman for the Town of Wells for several terms, and served in the State Legislature for the Town of Wells for several years. Alberta served both offices concurrently for several years, and quoted that “After a long day in Augusta, she will climb into her light blue Olds Omega to make the 98 mile trip to wells to attend selectman’s meetings … and manage to smile through the entire affair. In her own words saying “I try to do the best for everybody.” She also served on the Library Board of Trustees of Wells. She volunteered for the Chamber of Commerce of Wells for several years.
Alberta was a member of the Zonta, Organization of Women’s Legislature, and Order of the Eastern Star of Wells where she was the past matron for several years and a long time member of the Congregational Church of Wells.
She enjoyed and loved politics…..
She was predeceased by her husband Paul J. Wentworth, her brother Charles Newton Porter and her grandson Daniel Wentworth.
She is survived by her son John Paul Wentworth of York, ME.; a daughter Nancy F. Beauregard of Berwick; and a granddaughter Melissa W. Tracy whom she lived with of Wells; and three great grandchildren Alberta Marie Tracy, William Tracy and Catheryn Tracy all of Wells.

Memorial Services will be held 3 PM Friday February 27, 2004 at the Congregational Church of Wells Post Road Wells with the Reverend Herbert Henry officiating.
Interment will be in Ocean View cemetery in the spring. Should friends desire memorial donation may be made to the Wells High School Alumni Scholarship Fund C/O Wells High School P.O. Box 1715 Wells, Maine 04090 in Mrs. Wentworth’s memory

Amidel Krumen

Amidel S. Krumen, 86, a resident of Smith Street, Augusta died February 22, 2004 at Granite Hill Estate in Hallowell after a long illness.

Amidel was born in Kingman, Maine on July 16, 1917 a daughter of Delbert and Alice (Patriquin) Shields and graduated from Hallowell High School. She was the widow of Alfred Krumen who died in 1990.

She was employed by the New England Telephone Company business office for 17 years and she also employed by the Central Maine Power Traffic Department for 14 years.

She was a member of the Rose of Sharon, Order of the Eastern Star #13 where she was the past matron, District Deputy and Grand Matron. She also was a member of the South Parish Congregational Church of Augusta where she was on the board of trustees and deaconess of the church.

Amidel was avid bridge player.

She is survived by several cousins.

Funeral Service will be held at 1PM Wednesday February 25,2004 at the Chapel at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta with the Reverend Bruce Forbes officiating.

Interment will be in Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta.

Ann A . Moulton Henry

Ann A. Moulton Henry, 66 years, a resident of Chestnut Street, Kennebunkport, Me died Friday Jan 23 surrounded by her family at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford after a long battle with cancer.

Ann was born in Portland, Me Feb. 9, 1937 a daughter of F. Raymond and Ann F. Henry Moulton. She attended Kennebunkport Schools and graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1956. She Graduated from the former Golden School of Beautician in Portland and was employed as a beautician for several years. Several years later after raising her six children she became an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with the Gray Rescue Team and later served as a dispatcher in Gray. She then left to become employed with Blue-Cross and Blue Shield as a claims analyst and before becoming ill last year she was with Cigna Health Care Company.

Ann adored and loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren along with her pet cats. An avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed many trips and visits with her closest friends. For many years she attended a Christian group gathering with her friends.

She is survived by her parents Frank Ray and Ann F Moulton of Kennebunkport, six children James Sidbury, Lyn Rae Sidbury both of North Conway, NH. Michael Sudbury of Texas Charles (Chip) Henry of Greenville, Me William (Chuck) Henry of Lewiston, ME. and Ray Henry of Gray, Me. One sister Donna (Della Moulton) Evans, Old Orchard Beach, Me Five grandchildren , one niece and one nephew.

Graveside Services will be held later in the Spring in Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport, Me. Should friends desire Memorials may be made to the Southern Maine Medical Center (Auxiliary) One Medical Center Drive , Biddeford, Me 04005 in Ann’s memory.

Ann S. Slattery, 70 years, a resident of Post Road, Wells, ME formerly of Bellows Falls, Vermont, died Monday at the York Hospital, York, ME after a long illness.
She was born in Ludlow, Vermont on July 18, 1933 a daughter of Harold E. and Mary J. (Dean) Stoddard. She graduated from Black River Academy of Ludlow, VT and also graduated from Castleton State College, Castleton, VT.

Mrs. Slattery was an Elementary school teacher in Bellows Falls, Vermont for over 30 yrs. She was a former member of the St. Charles Church of Bellows Falls.

Ann and her late husband spent the summers here in Wells since 1983 and moved here permanently in 1991 and she was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Wells where she served as the organist for several years.

Ann and her late husband Danny both enjoyed having their many friends and relatives visit them at their home in Maine.

Mrs. Slattery was predeceased by her husband of 43 yrs Daniel S. Slattery who died in 2000 and her sister Dorothy Nichols.

She is survived by her two sons Paul S. Slattery of New York City and David S. Slattery of Wells, and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 PM Saturday January 10, 2004 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 111 Chapel Road Wells, ME.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 PM Friday January 16,2004 at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home 55 Westminster Street Bellows Falls, Vermont.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday January 17, 2004 at the St. Charles Church, Bellows Falls. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Westminster, VT.

Barbara C. Moore

Barbara Coolbroth Moore of Kennebunk, died February 14, 2004.

Mrs. Moore was born in Dorchester, MA, and raised in Kennebunk Lower Village where her father, Reverend Henry V. Coolbroth, was pastor of the Advent Christian Church. After attending Aurora College in Aurora, Illinois, she married the late Edwin E. Moore.

Mrs. Moore worked as a medical secretary in the Boston area until she and Mr. Moore retired to Kennebunk.

Mrs. Moore was an active member of The Women’s Home & Foreign Missions Society. She loved Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

She is survived by her son, Brian E., of Hanover, MA, her daughter, Barbara J. Lewison of Naperville, IL, and her daughter Susan E. Bergsten of Kissimmee, FL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 18 at 7 p.m. at Goodwins Mills Advent Christian Church, Dayton, ME, with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Goodwins Mills Church in Mrs. Moore’s name.

Barbara V. Railsback

Barbara V. Railsback, 88, of Canterbury Circle, formerly of Wellesley, Mass, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at the Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Rochester, N.H, on May 1, 1915, the daughter of Charles W. Varney and Matilda (Shepherd) Varney.

She graduated from Rochester High School, received a bachelor of arts degree in early childhood education from Wheaton College (Norton, Mass.) in 1936 and attended graduate school at Smith College.

She taught at Pine Manor Junior College in Wellesley and later was a substitute teacher in the Wellesley school system.

She married Edward N. Railsback on Aug. 5, 1938 and the couple raised their three children in Wellesley, moving to Maine in 1979.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years; her two sons, Alan N. Railsback and his former wife Sharon Abair of Nobleboro, ME, and John S. Railsback and his wife Barbara of Northboro, MA; her daughter Judith R. Finn and her husband Thomas of Damariscotta, ME; six grandchildren, Jennifer Railsback of Portland, Ore; Eric Railsback and his wife Kristina of Ridgefield, Wash; Jeffrey Railsback and wife Donnella of North Grafton, MA; Peter Finn and his wife Robin Schnur of Chicago, Ill; Mark Railsback and his fiancé Katie Shaw of Richmond, VA; Emily Railsback of Nobleboro, ME and two step-grandsons, Erik Nedeau and his wife Melissa of Belchertown, MA; Ethan Nedeau of Amherst, MA and two great grandsons.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Charles W. and Robert Varney.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at 10 am, at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St, Kennebunk, ME, with Rev. Carol E. Strecker of the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, Kennebunk. Interment will be at Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Barbara’s name may be made to Beacon Hospice, 54B Atlantic Place, South Portland, ME. 04106.

Kennebunk – Alice “Bernice” Stewart, age 91, of Kennebunk, died Saturday, March 13, 2004 at River Ridge Nursing Center.
She was born in Boston, MA on October 28, 1912, a daughter of Joseph and Annie Garland Brown.
Mrs. Stewart was a homemaker for most of her life. Her husband, Robert Stewart died in 1957.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan Dennis of Kennebunkport; a granddaughter, Wendy LaMontagne of Shapleigh, and two great grandchildren, Jake and Kaitlin.
There will be a memorial service to be held at a later date to celebrate her life. Arrangements are under the care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk.
