Earl Witter Stone
January 19, 2004
Kennebunk

Earl Witter Stone, Jr., age 74 of Kennebunk, died Monday, January 19, 2004 at Seaside Rehabilitation and HealthCare Center in Portland.

He was born in Worcester, Mass. on August 3, 1929, a son of Earl Witter and Hazel Deland Stone.

He graduated from South High School and Babson College with a Bachelor Degree in business management.

Mr. Stone was a salesman for most of his life and worked for C.K. Gifts from where he retired in 1996.

Witt served his country in the U.S. Navy, on both destroyers, the James C. Owen and the Forest Royal, serving in the Korean War as a signalman.

A member of the All Saints Church in Worcester for more than 40years, he had a love of music, serving as head of the All Saints Choir Alumni Association, the oldest continuing choir of men and boys in the nation.

His quick wit and humor will not be forgotten.

He had lived in Kennebunk since 1985 coming from Worcester, Mass.

He is survived by his wife, Gretchen E. (Stubbs) Stone of Kennebunk; a son, David Stone of Eugene, Oregon; four daughters, Deborah Stone of Maui, HI, Pamela M. Grimley of Barrington, N.H., Dianne Hazel Stone of Royal Hondo, N.M., and Amy M. Follansbee of Sterling, MA; two sisters, Barbara S. Rush of So. Miami, FL. and Mary Stone of Holden, MA; seven grandchildren; and his former wife, Cynthia (Norton) Stone of Eugene, Oregon. He will be missed by his family and his many, many friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 31, 2004 at the All Saints Church in Worcester, MA.

Edgard V. Aagesen

Edgard Vilhelm Aagesen, age 90 of Kennebunk, died Thursday, March 25, 2004 at Southern Maine Medical Center.

He was born February 6, 1914 in Lyngby, Denmark, the son of Vilhelm and Antoinette (Lisvorg) Aagesen.

He trained as a Merchant Marine Navigator in Denmark. His first training vessel, the Georg Stage, is now a floating museum at the Mystic Seaport in Connecticut, (renamed the Joseph Conrad).

He became a U.S. Citizen after WWII.

He served as a Deck Officer on merchant ship convoys to Russia and in the Pacific during WWII and continued his career in the Merchant Marines until his retirement in 1978.

Edgard retired to his home in Rainbow Lake, New York where he lived until 1992, when he relocated to Harrisburg, PA.

He has been a resident at the Atria in Kennebunk, Maine since 1998.

He enjoyed long drives, playing bingo, reading, crossword puzzles and playing cards.

He is predeceased by his wife, Mina S. (Sorensen) Aagesen who died in 1994.

He is survived by his son, Edgard W. and his wife Mary of Huntsville, Alabama; two daughters, JoAnn Venturella and her husband, Anthony of Staten Island, NY and Karen Aagesen-Donlan and her husband, Terrence of Wells, Maine and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm Monday, March 29th, 2004 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk with Pastor Janet Leighninger officiating. A reception will be held at the Atria following the service.

Burial will be private.

Edward G. Prentice

Kennebunk, Maine

Edward Garvin Prentice 82 years a resident of Rollins Lane, Kennebunk died suddenly Tuesday March 30, 2004 at the Maine Medical Center Portland, Me.
He was born in East Orange, New Jersey on April 25, 1921 a son of John and Lois Garvin Prentice. He graduated from Belmont High School in Belmont Mass. where he met his wife Priscilla. Edward went on to earn his degree from Bentley College.

He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Mr. Prentice was a computer consultant for utility companies for many years.

Edward was devoted to his wife Priscilla and his family.

He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his wife Priscilla Clark Prentice, a son Steven and his wife Joan, a daughter Laini Shillito all of Kennebunk, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 11 to 12 Friday April 2, 2004 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk where a funeral will be held at 12 PM with the Reverend Stephen Hastings officiating. Interment will be in Raymond Hill cemetery in Raymond, Maine in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, Should friends desire, donations may made to the American Diabetes Association, 163 Lancaster Street, Suite 98R, Portland, ME 04101 in Mr. Prentice's memory.

Elizabeth Eloise Norman

Elizabeth E. Norman, 93 years old resident of Wells died Friday, January 09, 2004 at her home. Mrs. Norman was born on May 18, 1910, the daughter of George William Wakefield III and Myra Elizabeth (Hatch) Wakefield.

Elizabeth owned and operated Granny’s Umbrella, a catering service known for her baked goods and wedding cakes, for over 20 years.

She enjoyed baking, knitting, flower gardening, and yard sales. She was also a member of the Wells Branch Community Hall, and the Wells High School Alumni, class of 1927.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Madelyn (Norman) Libby and a granddaughter, Ramona Arline Libby.

She is survived by a grandson, Richard Libby of Wells; a granddaughter, Rebecca (Libby) Gregoire of Wells; and five great grandchildren, Angela (Libby) Webb of Sanford, Peter Gregoire, Jr. of Wells, Joseph Freeman of Wells, Marci Libby of Wells, and Shauna Libby of Springhill, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Welfare Society, Inc., P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, Maine 04094-0043.

Friends may call from 5 to 7:30 pm Tuesday, January 13, at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, Maine where a memorial service will be held at 7:30pm that evening. Elizabeth’s grandson, Richard Libby will officiate.

Ethel L. Littlefield

Ethel L. Littlefield, 83 years of Ogunquit, Maine died Saturday April 3, 2004 at York Hospital. She was born in Marlboro, Mass. on May 3, 1920, a daughter of Ray and Ethel Rouse Garnett.

She attended Kennebunk schools and Kennebunk High School and was a homemaker most of her life. She attended the Ogunquit Baptist Church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Littlefield lived most of her adult life in Ogunquit, spending the last seven years at her daughter's home in Kittery, Maine.

She was a cheerful, friendly and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Her happiest times were spent with her family.

She loved to listen to her radio, cook, watch the wildlife and treat her two favorite dogs, Boomer and Mickey. She also loved playing cards, especially during the holidays with her grandchildren.

Her beloved husband, Roy C. Littlefield, passed away in 1983. She was also predeceased by two brothers, George and Walter Garnett, and two sisters, Pauline Quilter and Marion Lord.

Mrs. Littlefield is survived by her sister, Lena Hill of Kennebunk; her daughter, Joan McDaniel and her husband, Hampton of Kittery; her son, Jim Littlefield and his wife Deborah of Lyman; five grandchildren, Hampton and his wife, Sara, Erik, Jimmy and his wife, Michelle, Jesse and Meghan; seven great grandchildren, Noah, Cole, Quinn, London, Melissa, Hilary and Dylan.

Visiting hours will be from 6-8p.m. Wednesday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, where a funeral service will be held at 11a.m. Thursday. Burial will follow at Ocean View Cemetery.

If desired, donations can be made to the Ogunquit Fire and Rescue, c/o Doug Patey, 15 School Street, Ogunquit, ME 03907.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at York Hospital, Sara, and the Visiting Nurses.

Eunice M. Stover

Eunice M. Stover, 62, a certified nurses aide, passed away Monday, February 16, 2004 at Wuesthoff Hospice Care Center.

Eunice was born in Rochester, NH on February 9, 1942 a daughter of George and Bertha Wiggin Ricker.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Eunice also enjoyed taking casino trips with her friends.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Stover of Cocoa; sons, Stephen Ricker of Rochester, NH, Richard Ricker and Roland Ricker both of Berwick; a daughter, Barbara Pike of Florida; a brother, George Ricker of Berwick; three sisters, Susie Bourgeois of Berwick, Martha Irving of Dover, NH, and Anne Ricker of Sanford; grandchildren, Stephen, Kristen, Joseph, Joshua, Cory, Amanda, Maxine, Nicholas, and Bonnie; one great-grandchild, Jocelyn Lena Ricker; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Eunice was predeceased in death by her parents, George M. and Bertha J. (Wiggin) Ricker. She was also predeceased in death by her brother, Robert M. Ricker of Berwick.

She will be deeply missed by her family and very close friends, including her dog, Sissy.

Friends may call on Saturday, March 6 from 9 to 11 AM at Laing-Bibber Funeral Home, 36 Rochester St., Berwick where a funeral service will follow.

"Today you will be with me in Paradise."
F. (Florida) Bertha Belanger LeBlanc, 100 years young, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2004. "MaMere" LeBlanc, as she was commonly known by family and friends, lived most of her adult life at Ten Intervale Road, Salem, MA. In 1984, she moved to Kennebunk and was a resident of One Alewive Farms Road.

Mrs. LeBlanc was born in Salem, Massachusetts on July 15, 1903. She attended Salem and Lynn Public Schools and graduated from the Wilfred Academy of Beauty in 1922.

The term "independent woman" comes to mind in describing Bertha LeBlanc. She started her beauty shop at the age of 18 and retired in 1984 having enjoyed a career which spanned 62 years. She was the second woman in the City of Salem to own her own car, a Model T with a rumble seat. Not knowing how to drive, she enlisted the assistance of a handsome young man, Arthur Rene LeBlanc. The driving lessons were most successful and so was the romance that followed. She and Arthur were to enjoy 36 years of marriage until his untimely death in 1966.

Enjoying a span of 100 years, one is able to enjoy a historical perspective of life. While man went from Kitty Hawk to the moon, Bertha loved to travel and several of the highlights of her life included flying in open planes to NYC and reviewing the troops on the Champs-Elysses, Paris, France, as a guest of Colonel Douglas MacArthur.

Her greatest joys came from being the center of her family and dedicating her life to bringing joy to those who came to know her.

She is survived by two sons Major Arthur R. LeBlanc Jr., USAF Retired and his wife Angela of Kennebunk, ME and Paul M. LeBlanc, of Salem, MA and Rangeley Lakes, ME; eight grandchildren Arthur R. LeBlanc III and his wife Holly of Kennebunk, Alan and Cindy LeBlanc, Atlanta, GA, Alyse and husband Mario Rodriguez, NYC, Amira and husband Douglas Bixby, Chatham, NJ, Alaina LeBlanc, Boston, MA, Steven LeBlanc, Salisbury, MA, Brian LeBlanc, Ipswich, MA and Kimberly Lyons, Salem, MA. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren.

Visitation will take place on Friday, April 2, 2004, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, Maine, from 8:30 to 9:30 am.

A 10:00 Mass of the Resurrection will follow at Saint Martha's Church, Route One, Kennebunk.

Burial will take place at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Salem, MA at 2:30 PM.

Florence C. Allen

Florence C. Allen, 71 yrs, a resident of Old Pine Hill Road, Berwick died Thursday at the Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover after a long illness.

Florence was born in Limerick, Maine on April 7, 1932 a daughter of Dennis and Emily Richards Aspinall and attended Limerick High School.

She was employed by the Limerick Mills for several years. She was a homemaker most of her life.

Florence enjoyed crafts, bingo and going camping with her husband at the Apple Valley Campground for many years. Florence also enjoyed spending time with family and her grandchildren along with her adopted grandchildren James, Jenny and Raymond.

She was predeceased by her parents, a brother Alfred Aspinall and a sister Janet Wadleigh.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years Robert M. Allen of Berwick, three daughters Judy Donnelly of Highland, New York, Donna Coffin and her husband Wade and Nancy Leary and her husband Jim all of Berwick, two brothers Sam Aspinall of South Portland, Gerald Aspinall of Limington and a sister Anne Thompson of North Branford, CT., Six Grandchildren Jason Coffin, Ryan Coffin, Amanda Donnelly, Kate Moulton, Dylan Leary and Andy Leary. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Monday, March 8, 2004 at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street Berwick, Maine where a funeral will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday March 9, 2004 at the Chapel with the Reverend Mark Rideout officiating.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Make A Wish Foundation of Maine, 87 Elm Street, Suite 203, Camden, ME 04843 or to the Berwick Library, Att. Dean Lyons, Librarian, P.O. Box 838, Berwick, ME 03901 in Mrs. Allen’s memory.
