Florence M. Walker, age 91 years, a resident of Sunbridge of Portsmouth, NH., formerly High Street, Somersworth, NH. died Thursday, June 26, 2003 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Arthur F. Walker who died Jan 26, 2003.

Mrs. Walker was born in Berwick, Maine May 25, 1912 a daughter of Ido and Marianna Berini Valenti. She attended Berwick and Somersworth Schools, She was employed for several years as a stitcher at Shoe Shops in Somersworth. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church in Somersworth.

Friends may call at the Laing Bibber Funeral Chapel 36 Rochester St. Berwick, Me Monday morning from 9 to 10Am a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church Somersworth, NH. at 10:30AM with the Rev. Tom F. Coover officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Holy Trinity cemetery Somersworth.

Forest A. Maguire

Kennebunk – Forest A. Maguire, age 83 of Fletcher Street, died Saturday, March 13, 2004 at his residence.

He was born in Leeds Center, ME a son of Harold and Marion Monter Maguire.

Forest worked as a ship fitter at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years. He had also worked for the Maine Turnpike Authority and Kennebunk High School as a custodian.

He served his country in the US Coast Guard and the US Navy, and was a member of the Webber-Lefevbre American Legion Post#74 of Kennebunk, where he was a Past Commander. Forest was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed studying genealogy and doing title searches.

He married Ola Coombs on September 6, 1942.

He is survived by his wife of Kennebunk; a daughter, Mrs. Roscoe (Constance) Tarbox of Lyman; a brother, Sherwood Maguire of Falmouth; a sister, Mary Davis of Cumberland; three grandchildren, Lisa Andrews of Naples, Marc Tarbox of Illfurth, France, and Amy Tarbox of Wakefield, N.H; three great grandchildren, Alise Andrews of Naples, Curtis Andrews of Naples and Kyle Tarbox of France.

Visiting hours will be from 6-8p.m. Tuesday at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, where a funeral service will be held at 11a.m. Wednesday with Pastor James King officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kennebunk Baptist Church Historical Preservation Fund, P.O. box 396, Kennebunk, ME 04043.

George Pavelonis

George Joseph Pavelonis 84 years a resident of Stephen Eaton Apts, Wells died Wednesday March 17th, 2004 at the Kennebunk Nursing Home after a brief illness.

He was born in Lawrence, MA on April 22, 1919 a son of Mr. and Mrs. August Pavelonis and graduated from Lawrence High School the class of 1939.

He served with the United States Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946 and he received several medals and ribbons awards.

Mr. Pavelonis was employed by the Oxford Paper Mill of Lawrence, MA for many years.

He has many pen pals from all over the world and he enjoyed collecting post cards and stamps.

He was predeceased by his wife Lillian Guy Pavelonis and a brother Peter Pavelonis.

He is survived by three daughters Mrs. Russell (Lillian) Fox of Wells, Mrs. John (Dorothy) A. Richard of Methuen, MA, and Mary L. Sinkewjz of Biddeford, Me., a sister Adele Clively of Utah eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 10 to 11 AM Friday March 19th 2004 at the St. Marys Church Elbridge Road, Wells prior to Funeral Mass at 11 AM at the Church with the Reverend Father Joseph Ford Officiating. Interment will be held at 3pm in St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception cemetery Chapel 29 Barker Street Lawrence, MA.

Should friends desire memorial donation may be made to the Food Pantry C/O St. Mary’s Church P.O. Box 368 Wells, Maine 04090 in Mr. Pavelonis’s memory.

Hazel King

Hazel M. King 84 yrs, a resident of Longhill Road. Dover died Saturday February 21, 2004 at the Riverside Rest Home, Dover after a long illness.
Hazel was born in Manchester, NH on September 2, 1919 a daughter of Scott and Goldie Tenney Clark and attended Manchester schools.

As a young girl, she volunteered her time with the Salvation Army, which resulted in working as a nurses aide at the Concord State Hospital.

She married Harold E. King on August 29, 1946. A few years later they moved to Dover area where she worked at Clarostat and played women’s softball for the Clarostat team. She also worked at the Roberts Shoe in Somersworth, NH. She attended Milton Assembly of God Church of Milton, NH.

She enjoyed playing bingo, cards, and spending the day at York Beach, ME.

She was predeceased by her first husband Russell C. Howard and her second husband Harold E. King, three sisters Leona Pota, Viola Ryan and Esther Gallagher and two brothers Maurice and Horace Clark.

She is survived by her daughters Barbara Vachon Warren and her husband Alfred of Concord, NH, Shirley Gaudette of Berwick, ME, Jeanne Gendron of Somersworth, NH, Sylvia Sugar of Troy, NC, and Donna Weeden and her husband James of Dover, NH and two sons Arthur Howard and his wife Gloria of East Middlebury, VT, Bruce King of Concord, NH and her brothers Leon Clark of York, ME and Wallace Clark and his wife Alberta of Dover, NH, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 9 to 11 AM Tuesday February 24, 2004 at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel 36 Rochester Street Berwick, Maine where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM at the Chapel with the Reverend Alfred Weeden officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick in the spring.

In lieu of flowers--- Donation may be made to the Riverside Rest Home Unit # 4 County Farm Road, Dover, NH 03820 in Mrs. King’s memory.

Helen M. Barrett Sampson 80 years a resident of Fletcher Street Kennebunk formerly of Braintree, MA died Sunday June 8, 2003 at the Kennebunk Nursing Center after a brief illness.

Mrs. Sampson was born in Roxbury, MA on August 30, 1922 a daughter of Joseph P. and Ellen Rogers Barrett.

She graduated from Braintree High School, Braintree, MA.

She was a long time clerk for Motor Vehicle Department for State of MA for many years and she also was a clerk for Draft Board for the Town of Braintree for several years

Helen enjoyed doing needlepoint .

She was predeceased by her husband George Sampson and two brothers Joseph and Leo Barrett.

She is survived by her brother John E. Barrett and his wife Virginia of Kennebunk and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 10 AM Friday June 13, 2003 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk.

Interment will be held at 1:30 Friday at the New Calvary Cemetery, Mattapan, MA.

Grace E. Pelletier

Berwick, Maine

Grace E. Pelletier age 90 yrs, a resident of Berwick died Thursday August 21, 2003 at the Dover Rehabilitation Center in Dover, NH after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Pelletier was born August 31, 1912 in Berwick a daughter of Willard and Edna G. (Guptill) Cottrell.

She attended local schools. She was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery during WW II.

Following the war, she was employed at General Electric as an electric welder for several years retiring after 25 years in 1973.

She is pre-deceased by her first husband Emilien J. Turcotte who died in 1968 and her second husband William J. Pelletier who died in 1978 and one grandson.

She is survived by two sons Ronald N. Turcotte and his wife Patricia of Berwick, and Leonard A. and his wife Helen Turcotte of Acton, a step-daughter Mrs. Clint (Jacqueline) Schoff, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester St., Berwick Friday August 22 from 6-8 PM.

A funeral mass will be held 10:00 AM Saturday from Our Lady of Peace Church, in Berwick with the Rev. Hilary Cameron as celebrant.

Harry E. Jones 92 a resident of Old Pine Hill Road South, Berwick died Wednesday August 13, 2003 at the Varney Crossing Nursing Home in North Berwick.
Mr. Jones was born in Reading, MA on August 3, 1911 a son of Harry E. and Alice M. (Horne) Jones. He attended Reading, MA and Berwick schools.
He worked for Berwick Highway Department and the Prime Tanning for several years later he worked for Public Service Company of New Hampshire as Hydro Station Operator in Berwick for 37 years.
He enjoyed going to his camp in Balch Pond in Acton, Me.
He was predeceased by wife of 71 years, Doris Knox Jones who died in 2002 , two sons Elwood F Jones, Nathan S. Jones and a daughter Judith E. St. John.
He is survived by two sons Richard C Jones of Pittston, ME and Steven Jones of Sanbornville, NH., a daughter Merna Toothaker of Kittery and 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at 2 PM Monday August 18th, 2003 at the Woodlawn Cemetery, South Berwick, and Maine.

Henry F. Minkle

Biddeford – Henry F. Minkle 81 years old, a resident of West Kennebunk, formerly of Hopkinton, MA, died Tuesday July 15, 2003 at Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford after a brief illness.
Henry was born in Boston, MA on December 19, 1921, the son of T. Frank and Emma M. Blackman Minkle. He graduated from Needham High School, Needham, MA. He was a veteran and served in the Army. Prior to retirement, he was a self-employed painter.
He is survived his wife, Edith M. Davis Minkle, a son, David Minkle and his wife Pegge of Hopkinton, MA, a daughter Cindy and her husband Bob Gray of Millinocket, ME, one brother, Kenneth Minkle and his wife Mary Ann of Wiscasset, ME and three grandchildren, Sherri Minkle of Duxbury, Ma and Sean and Michelle Gray of Millinocket Maine. He was predeceased by a son Warren and a sister Janet Shuker.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Herbert C. Baum Jr.

Herbert C. Baum Jr, 73 a resident of Christensen Lane Kennebunk died suddenly Friday February 6, 2004 at the Maine Medical Center, Portland, Me.

Herbert was born in Rockland, Me December 20, 1930 a son of Herbert C. and Katrina Smith Baum Sr.

He attended Rockland Elementary School and South Portland Schools. He and his family moved to Kennebunk in 1946 and graduated from Kennebunk High School the class of 1949 where he played sports including football, baseball, and basketball.

He worked with his late father, at Baum Boatyard in Lower Village of Kennebunk for many years. He was very proud that he helped his father build the last boat and named "the Kathy B." after his wife. He also was a longtime lobsterman and fished off Kennebunkport for many years.

He was a member of the Arundel Lodge # 76 of Kennebunkport, the Southern Maine Lobsterman Association and the Kennebunk Baptist Church and an honorary member of the Washington Hose Company Kennebunk Fire Department.

He enjoyed watching the Celtics, the Red Sox, and the New England Patriots on TV and also enjoyed working with wood in his shop.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen Jackson Baum of Kennebunk, a son Herbert C. Baum III and his wife Lynn of Kennebunk, two daughters Ellen Baum of Farmingdale, Me, Greer Cressey and her husband Thomas of Kennebunk and special daughter Cindy Burns and her husband Brian of Biddeford, two sisters Mrs. Robert Elaine Gould of Oakhurst, NJ and Mrs. Milton Leone Maling of Lyman. A special son-in-law, Earl Beauchemin of Kennebunkport, and seven grandchildren Brian and Steven Beauchemin, Katrina Baum, Jillian Cressey, Michael, Timothy and Alyson Burns.

Visiting Hours will be held from 6 to 8 PM Monday February 9, 2004 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk where a Masonic Services will be held at 7:30PM.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday February 10, 2004 at the Chapel with the Reverend James King officiating. Burial will be following at the Evergreen Cemetery, Kennebunk.

Should friends desire memorial donation may be made to the Kennebunk Baptist Church Historical Preservation Fund P.O. Box 396 Kennebunk, Maine 04043 or to the American Heart Association Maine affiliate P.O. Box 346 Augusta, Maine 04330 in Mr. Baum's memory.

Hyo Chin Bintliff

Freeport, ME

Hyo Chin Bintliff 63 years a resident of Old Country Road, Freeport formerly of Kennebunk died Tuesday August 19, 2993 at the Hawthorne House, Freeport after a long illness.

She was born in Seoul, Korea on April 5, 1940. She attended schools there.

Mrs. Bintliff met her late husband Russell Bintliff in the Vietnam War and she came to the United States and raised two sons Roger and Mark while her husband was involved with his military career. After her husband’s retirement, they moved to Kennebunk in 1992.
After Russell’s death in 1993, She moved to Cumberland, ME to be near her family.

She enjoyed decorating design and cooking.

She was predeceased by her husband Russell L. Bintilff.

She is survived by her two sons, Roger T. Bintilff of Cumberland and Mark L. Bintliff of Greenville, North Carolina, and seven grandchildren. She also has six sisters all from Korea.

Private Graveside service will be held at the convenience of the Family.

Grace Ward

Grace E. Ward, 83, a lifelong resident of Kennebunkport, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, April 5, 2004.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leroy C. Ward in 1975.

She is survived by her son, Duane E. Ward of Cape Porpoise; her daughter, Derinda W. Cluff of Wells; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Burial will be private.
